Creating Properties and Methods for an exe built in LabVIEW

Hi all,
How do we create properties and methods for an executable built in LabVIEW.
I know when building an exe, the "Enable ActiveX server" option in advanced has to be enabled.
But after that how do we create Properties and methods for the activeX component.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

You cannot build your own COM specific properties and methods for the ActiveX interface in LabVIEW, the only thing exposed are the normal VI server properties and methods.

Trying to create and excel graph and having trouble finding properties and methods for active x.

I am trying to use Active X in labview 7 to create an excel graph and the HasMajorGridlines property for charts is not in my menu. Where can I get this property and others that appear to be missing and what is a good resource (looking for anything, especially books) for for using activeX/Labview/excel together?

I am not sure if there is a book or tutorial how to use excel with LabView. I ncluded a Vi which gives you access to the HasMajorGridlines property. I hope it gives you the clou how to work with excel obejcts...

Using VI server from DIAdem script :: Syntax (documentation) for properties and methods of VI Server objects (for non-labview programmers)

I am using DIAdem 10.0 Advanced, LabVIEW 8.0 PDS. I would like to start a LabVIEW IHM from a VBS script. I use VI Server to call my VI from DIAdem.
Here is the script and the VI I use (VI attached):

I found a similar example on your web site.
Question 1:
I need to know the syntax for all the other properties and methods of a VI object (method like Get or Set Control Value for example).
Is a documentation (other than the LabVIEW help which is dedicated for LV programmers) exist in order to be able to use all the features of VI Server from another environment (CVI, VB, ...)?
Question 2:
Is it possible to call a VI with VI Server with the parameter "Wait until done" to FALSE? (run a VI asynchronuously from DIAdem)

Hello,
I finally found a way to get the documentation of VI Server. I can view the "LabVIEW.TLB" type library file with a OLE/COM Object Viewer (a utility from the Windows SDK).

Following situation. In SCCM we have one Standalone Primray Site Server and two Site Server. The two site server are also SMS Provider. MDT 2012 was installed on all three Servers and the Config Manager Integration was run. When starting the Console
on any of this server and editing an MDT Task Sequence, it occasionally pops up an error "An error occured when loading the task sequence". TaskSequenceProvider.log File throws a lot of errors:

Tried removing the integration on all SMS Provider Machines and readded them. It does not make a differenence. Does anyone know if MDT supports the use of multiple SMS Providers? When I only use one Provider and deinstall the other two, it works ok.

there is no such table MTL_ONHAND_DISCREPANCY or synonym in Applications 11.5.10.2. Is that custom table created in your db?
After dropping this table from APPS schema 'Re-create grants and synonyms for APPS schema' went thru fine.Its correct
This table does not exist in INV schema in 11.5.10.2.
Could be possible that the consultant could have created this table in INV and APPS schema by mistake or whatever.Yes, with the same name, there might be table in APPS SCHEMA. When you run recreate grants and synonyms, adadmin tries to create synonym for that table in APPS schema. since there is object available with the same name in apps chema, you got that error.

There is 8 option(hidden) avaliable but i suggest dont use this option.(As you mention its a custom,if you belive it wont problem you can use this hidden option or drop 'XXGOD_SEQ_DECORTIMESHEET_HDR' and recreate it later,its own your risk) By the way please check below notes which is similar error like yours

To invoke an application exe built using Labview from python.

I am trying to invoke an application exe built using Labview from python.
I am able to invoke labview vi, send and receive data. But if I change the vi to exe, it doesn’t work.

This is more of Python. I can suggest you another way, if you can do those changes to your existing code.
This is what I do: If I have to communicate between 2 different platforms I use "File" as a communication medium (Simple method). So if you want to pass data to the LabVIEW code from python, write the data to the file from Python and read the data in LabVIEW and vice versa. I generally use *.ini files for this purpose.
The best solution is the one you find it by yourself

Listing existing properties and refnums for a control

I'm relatively new to LabView programming and this is probably a basic question. I need to list the existing properties and corresponding refnums for a custom control that was created before I started maintaining an existing application. I would like the information in a form I could print if possible. Thanks for any help.

Hi Hootowl,
ok, it's a cluster of several subitems. So you can use standard property nodes to get the properties of each sub-item programmatically.
Otherwise you can list the properies of the (standard) sub-items as they are listed in the LabVIEW help...
Or what else do you need? What's the goal of listing all the properties? (As said before, the cluster contains standard elements and all their properties are listed in the LV help...)

Creating properties and namespaces with WD4J

Hello,
In several tutorials (like one of building a bulletin board, .. ) the properties are always customizied by hand. The thing is that I need to create them via program. In this way I don't know if it is possible to create the properties and the namespace (like I can do it in the metadata administration).
I just want the following:
- I have a entry for an article (name, title, category, description, ... )
- I want to add some documents to the entry
- For this entry I have several (own) properties
Later on (and I think that I know how to do this) I want:
- to display an overview of the articles with some filter capabilities
- showing a detail page
- Develop some renderer for being used be the enterprise search
The thing I don't get is how to create the properties with WD4J?
Could someone help and bring some light into my darkness?

Why do you want to create the property through WD4J?
You can have this one time task done through metadata administration.
Later in your application you can set/get the values for these properties.

To build EXEs you need the application builder. To see if you have it, open the tools menu. If you have an option named "Build application or shared library", you're OK. Just open it and you can set up your app there. To run this application, a computer would have to have the LV run-time engine, which can be downloaded from the NI site. For the first time you deploy the app, you should use the app builder to create an installer, which will install the run-time engine as well as your app.

Can I use classes and methods for a maintenance view events?

Hello experts,
Instead of perform/form, can I instead use classes and methods, etc for a given maintenance view event, lets say for example I want to use event '01' which is before saving records in the database. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys!

   It is provided using FORM/PERFORM
   concept only.
2. At this stage,we cannot use classes.
3. However, inside the FORM routine,
   we can write what ever we want.
   We can aswell use any abap code, including
   classes and methods.
(But this classes and methods won't have any
   effect on the EVENT provided by maintenance view)

Script to create grants and synonyms for objects in database

We are building a patch to be applied to the production environment. I want to create a script/sql query that builds a list of grants and synonyms for all the objects created after august 09.
for ex:
create or replace synonym abc for schema_name.abc;
Grant execute on abc to user_xyz;
How can I use Oracle's data dictionary to do this?

You'll probably want to use these views:
user_objects - includes created (DATE) column.
user_synonyms
user_tab_privs - not just tables (e.g., includes EXECUTE privileges on functions).
Data dictionary views beginning with 'user_' cover objects owned by the current user only.
Almost all of the data dictionary views (and all of the three mentioned above) also have 'all_' and 'dba_' versions.
For example:
all_objects inculdes everything in user_objects, plus objects in other schemas on which the current user has privileges.
dba_objects include every object in the database. (Not everyone is allowed to see the dba_ views.)
Here's one of many possible ways to use these views:
