Creating result based search programatically

Hi All,
I am trying to create a simple result based search programmatically. I need to do this because I want the user to basically be able to select a specific table name and then the search adjusts the criteria and results automatically based on the table selected. If you like it is a generic query mechanism.
I have attempted to do this by declaratively setting up the query region as far as possible and then adding the table fields and binding them to a VO instance that I have created (I also create the view definition programatically)
The query region renders and the go and clear buttons are available, the result table renders and if I do a blind query it works fine and the result appear. The problem I have is that for the fields in the table that have queriable set to yes, the search region is not rendering the search fields.
This is what I have done (all in process request for now to get it working)
OADBTransactionImpl dbTx = (OADBTransactionImpl)am.getTransaction();
OAViewDef viewDef = dbTx.createViewDef();
viewDef.setViewObjectClass("oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OAViewObjectImpl");
viewDef.setViewRowClass("oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OAViewRowImpl");
viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("RECORD_ID","RECORD_ID","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("RUNTIME_KEY","RUNTIME_KEY","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("STATUS","STATUS","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
viewDef.setSql(sqlStmt);
am.createViewObject("InterfaceTableVO1",viewDef);
OATableBean tableBean = (OATableBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("InterfaceTableVO1");
OAMessageStyledTextBean leaf = null;
leaf=(OAMessageStyledTextBean)createWebBean(pageContext,MESSAGE_STYLED_TEXT_BEAN,null,"RECORD_ID");
leaf.setViewUsageName("InterfaceTableVO1");
leaf.setViewAttributeName("RECORD_ID");
leaf.setWrapEnabled(false);
leaf.setPrompt("RECORD_ID");
leaf.setQueryable(true);
tableBean.addIndexedChild(leaf);
The query bean and table have been defined declaratively, my hope was when I added the leaf nodes to the table with query able set to true that the framework would automatically figure the bindings out but it doesn't seem to be doing this.
Could this be a UIX rendering problem that I need to get around somehow?
Thanks
Keith

anyone got any ideas on this one?

  • Results Based Search Region Order By Question

    I recently setup a simple search panel. What is the best way to implement an ORDER BY clause for the search results? I know I can implement a manual search but that seems like overkill for sorting the result sets. I can't put an ORDER BY clause in the view object because the Oracle searching mechanism wraps this in a subquery and the order is no longer guaranteed.
    I tried setting the 'Sort Allowed' and 'Initial Sort Sequence' for the required fields but it didn't meet all the requirements. It only sorted the first result.
    This is against EBS 11.5.10 and eventually 12.1.3.
    Thanks!

    Anywhere are you trying to setQuery on Viewobject that is associated with querybean results region. If that is the case then you should use vo.setFullSqlMode(FULLSQL_MODE_AUGMENTATION)

    Hello Kalpana,
    I've already locked your previous discussion and thought that I gave pretty clear warning.
    First of all "do my job" posts are not welcomed on SCN.
    Second point: you're incorrect in choosing SCN space with such questions. Here is a little which is related to IC in your task.
    Third point is that if somebody has an answer to your exact question then he will give you it if he wants. There is no reason to post-post-post messages asking for help or hurry. Your "urgent requirement" is not the reason either.
    Fourth one is: according to The SCN Rules of Engagement you need to do the search before posting. Almost all of your questions regarding this topic has an answer already.
    Locking the discussion again. If you continue to post such questions I will need to report this situation to SAP CRM space editors and global moderators.

  • How to create a custom search portlet that groups results by category

    Hello,
    Is it possible to create a custom search portlet whose search results are displayed on a page grouped by Category? Basically the results page should have Category heading followed by search results.
    I realize this is not canned functionality but any ideas on how to accomplish this using PLSQL APIs is also welcome.
    Thanks.

    hi,
    one workaround i could think of is using the CM views to search for content that belongs to a category and display it in a custom way.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/html/plsqldoc/pldoc904/wwsbr_api_view.html
    this only allows you to search for the meta-data available in the CM views but not the content of an item that is available when doing a search.
    in the next major portal release we will have a publich search API that can be used for these type of requirements. you can execute your search and format the results in the way you want.

  • Creating a Formatted Search in Item Master based on Unit Price

    Hi Experts,
    I have to create a Formatted Search for assigning the Standard Cost of Items as Selling Price-Selling Price*.05  i.e the Standard cost of the item should be set upon automatically equal to 5% less of Selling Price .
    I have created the following Formatted Search Query :
    SELECT ((SELECT $[$34.68.NUMBER])-(SELECT $[$34.68.NUMBER] *.05))
    and have assigned this FS to Standard Cost Field . I am not able to base it upon Unit Price field . This FS is correct but it is not automatically refreshing upon change of Unit Price and I have to manually update it(ALT+F2) . I guess the filed upon which it should be based upon is not correct .
    please guide me how to resolve this issue . How to base this FS upon Unit Price.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pooja Singh.

    Hi,
    Actually I dont want to set upon the last No for the Series. What about the Sequence ? Administration->setup->financials->Tax->Sequence. Here also the same thing can be done but Location Specific. When I created 2 Series for the two different locations , I found that two different fields appeared on the screen Sequence Name Where I found the two sequences I defined for the two locations. If you have any idea about what this sequence is for and how far is it different from Document Series , please let me know.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Search Results based on other Search Results

    Scenario -
    I have a BDC content type which has a custom page for end users to view the data in the content type.  This page has a search result we part that displays the details of the content type.  There are other search result web parts that show related
    documents to the content type.
    We are able to use the query string to pass in properties of the content type that will filter the search results to documents based on the passed value.  Example: Employee content type has custom page that lists the details about that employee, and
    when passing the department in the url to the page, a list of department specific documents can be displayed.
    There are several attributes of the "Employee" content type that we would like to filter for specific documents with.  How can I access these attributes with out passing them through the query string in the url?
    I would rather not have to pass all these elements in the url Employee.aspx?employeeid={0}&department={1}&state={2}&employeetype={3} ect...  I would be better to just pass the employee id, and the page be able to get all the information
    it needs for the Search Results/Content Search web parts.
    Any thoughts would be helpful.  We are currently looking at the Product Catalog items, but this doesn't seem to fix our issue where we need to filter the results based on attributes of the current contextual content type.
    Thank You
    Shane

    I have been doing some more research, and I just cannot seem to find a viable option.  Can I use the Page.<FieldName>, or ListItem.<property>?  I am not sure, and no body seems to be doing anything like this?  Can it be done with
    javascript on the client, without having to rebuild the Display Template functionality for the results?
    So many questions and no one seems to have an answer?

  • How to create Pro grammatically Search Form ?

    Version 11.1.1.3.0
    HI i have a requirement where i cant use the search panel/Af:guery panel or View criteria to create the Search form,
    I want simple search on 3 fields and result shld dispaly in table.
    How can i do that??
    Thanks for help

    Two things:
    1. I don't know why you need to have the bean populate the list box -- is it based on other values in the form, requiring a runtime filter? "data" belongs in databases.
    If so, I would recommend looking up Cascading List boxes (Shay has a youtube channel with that) and I have a video on that, too.
    Secondly, you can have list box on the form that will show the "readable" value to the user that they can select. I have a video on that -- possibly the first video I mentioned, but this one may help too.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytpLTC5HdvA&feature=plcp
    2. To create a view criteria programatically:
    In the application module, go to the java tab and create an appmoduleimple class. Create a method that manipulates the view criteria and executes the view object. Then expose that on the application module. On the data control, drag and drop the method onto your form. Choose parameter form.
    A form should be created that has the input and button.
    3. On the data control, click on the method and under it, select parameter. drag that onto the form. Select listbox when it asks what kind of control you want to create. Then it will display the listbox gui to connect the database table. This will create a listbox on the form that users can then select. You can manipulate the view object (also using view critieria) behind the listbox to filter data based on some value on the form.
    I am writing from memory here, so I might have skipped a step.

  • Creating a simple search page

    Hi all,
    I am trying to create a simple search page using Jdeveloper 9.03 OA Framework that will allow the user to search for records in a view based on a few key columns.
    Are there any resources available which show a step by step process for doing a simple search? I followed the User Guide as far as being able to create the EOs, VOs and the query page region but I dont know how to get the results of the VO in the query page.
    There has got to be an easy way of getting such a apparently simple task done. I get the impression J Developer is unnecessarily complicated... Why couldnt there have been Wizards for common development tasks? It just seems unnecessarily confusing.
    I'd appreciate any help on this, no matter how insignificant. Im at an impasse here.
    Thanks,
    Rylan

    Thanks for the reply! That is precisely what I need to do.
    I did that, and it worked, but with one major problem... For some reason, it only works on the seeded tables in the AK schema. Those work without any problem. I tried making my own test tables also in the AK schema but when I try to search non AK seeded tables. it errors out. Funny thing is it errors out only when there are records found. If there are no records found the page displays correctly.
    Ive tried everything I can think of.
    I made a two column table with primary keys, unique indexes, not null conditions, everyting that seemed special about the seeded AK tables to see if I could prevent the error from coming... no luck.
    I suspect it is a bug... Has any one ever got this error before?
    The error message is :

  • How can we restrict EQL result based on session value

    How can we restrict EQL result based on session value or by checking with EBS secured function?
    Example: I create a Item Search Dashboard but I have more than one inventory organizations and I want to restrict dashboard to bring inventory org respective data by validating responsibility/profile option.
    Can anyone help me on this or if my concept is wrong so can anyone please guide me?

    Hi Bob,
    Thank you. Sorry for the late reply but I was busy in other stuff. I did the jar file and copied that Jar file into .ear/APP-INF/lib and copied on server and updated the df.securitymanager property under framework settings on Endeca Studio and restarted Endeca Server and Studio but seems like my class didn't get read. Kindly suggest and find below snippet of code;
        public void applySecurity(PortletRequest request, MDEXState mdexState, Query query)
                throws MDEXSecurityException
      init(request);
      String remoteUser = request.getRemoteUser();
      String recordFilterExpression = "XX";
      if(recordFilterExpression != null) {

      try {
      ds = new DataSource(request, mdexState.getId());
      try {
      ExpressionBase expression = ds.parseLQLExpression("FND_USER_NAME='" + remoteUser + "'");

      } catch (Exception f) {

  • How to make a form-based search API using HTTPClient

    Hi,
    I am getting trouble to make an API that is related to making a site search by using a form-based search API by help of HTTPClient

    Hi,
    Something seems to get added to the form action because of "http". Hence I am removing it.
    You need to write a procedure with the values in the as parameters. Say for example you want to insert a record into dept
    table then
    Dynamic page code
    <html>
    <body>
    <form action="portalschema.insert_dept">
    <input type="text" name="p_deptno">
    <input type="text" name="p_dname">
    <input type="submit" name="p_action" value="save">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    Procedure code.
    create or replace procedure insert_dept
    (p_deptno in number,
    p_dname in varchar2,
    p_action in varchar2)
    is begin
    if p_action = 'save' then
    insert into scott.dept(deptno,dname) values(p_deptno,p_dname);
    commit;
    end if;
    end;
    grant execute on insert_dept to public;
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • HOW TO CREATE A KEYWORD SEARCH FORM

    Hi, I'm creating a image gallery and I'm about 90% complete. One of my  final objectives is to create a keyword search for my image gallery. I  have 4 fields in my DB, (id,image,description,keywords) I want to be  able to enter keywords into the text field  and the images with there  descriptions show up. I already have the  keywords in my mysql, I already know how to use mysql, I just need to learn how to add a search form that pulls keywords from my mysql. THIS DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY CODE so please do not respond with code. I just need a step by step on what type of form to insert, (dynamic text field or text field) what paramaters to pass etc. NO CODE, this whole thing can be done in design veiw.
    For this project I'm using Dreamweaver Cs5, I'm not really an  experienced coder I rely heavily on dreamweaver for my code, I just make  minor tweaks. So if anyone has an answer to my problem please break  down and simplify your answer I'm still a beginner. Thanks in advance.
    ps
    If anyone knows of any other video tutorials of this process please inform me, it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.(not php acedemies)

    This is helpfull but I'm still running in to some problems. I believe everything on my search page is correct, I think it's my results page thats giving me issues.  When I view my search page in firefox and type in a keyword in the text field, when the results page loads all I get is the field names of DB table (id,layouts,desription,key_words) instead of the actual data...??
    On my search page in the action box I have my results page "search_results.php". In the method box I have "GET".  On my "search_ruselts.php" page I created a recordset, selected all columns, and filtered "key_words". (im not sure if I filtered correctly) I placed this in a dynamic table. Where did I go wrong?
    this is my code if it helps any
    search page:

  • BUG : Creating Databound Hierarchy Search does not work in  11.1.2.1.0

    I've followed the example from Shay YouTube video and also from the development guide.
    "How to Create a Databound Search in a Hierarchy Viewer"
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/graphs_charts.htm#ADFFD22229
    I drag and drop the ExecuteWithParams Operation from the Data Controls Palette.
    Configure the search options as in the demonstration etc.
    When I complete the task, I do not see a DVT:Search or DVT:Search Results tag in my hierarchy viewer.
    Has anyone got this working on a 11.1.2.10 release?
    Regards
    Ollyando

    Yep I tried from the documentation for the 11.1.2.1.0 version. I used the declarative method of droping the ExecuteWithParams option. Jdeveloper reports this error when you click OK on the dialog after setting the search options.

  • Creating a Better Search Form

    Hi,
    I'm trying to figure out how to create a dynamic search form
    using Coldfusion 8.
    Right now if I enter multiple words in my search field the
    results omit certain records. For example, if I put "toy blue" in
    the search field it will return results that only have "TOY BLUE"
    together and omits any records that only have "TOY" or only have
    "Blue" in the column being searched.
    Is there a way to add the following abilities to my basic
    search code located at the bottom of my post:
    - Search multiple words that are entered in the criteria
    input field.
    - The words can be separated by commas, spaces, or the word
    "and".
    - Have it so you can search multiple word phrases by using
    quotes.
    <!--- Search Form--->
    <form name="myForm" method="post"
    action="results.cfm">
    <p>
    <input name="criteria" type="text" id="criteria">
    <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit">
    </p>
    </form>
    <!--- Results Page --->
    <cfquery name="qSearch" datasource="myDatabase"
    dbtype="ODBC">
    SELECT itemID, itemName
    FROM myTable
    WHERE 1 = 1
    <cfif IsDefined("form.criteria") AND
    Len(Trim(form.criteria))>
    and (itemName LIKE '%#form.criteria#%' or itemDescription
    LIKE '%#form.criteria#%')
    </cfif>
    </cfquery>
    <p><b>Results:</b></p>
    <cfoutput query="qSearch">
    <p>#itemid# - #itemName#</p>
    </cfoutput>
    <!--------->
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    -C

    This is the relevent sql
    and (itemName LIKE '%#form.criteria#%' or itemDescription
    LIKE '%#form.criteria#%')
    substituting the variable, it looks like this
    and (itemName LIKE '%TOY BLUE%' or itemDescription LIKE '%TOY
    BLUE%')
    You have to treat form.criteria as a list, and loop through
    it.
