Search Results based on other Search Results

Scenario -
I have a BDC content type which has a custom page for end users to view the data in the content type.  This page has a search result we part that displays the details of the content type.  There are other search result web parts that show related
documents to the content type.
We are able to use the query string to pass in properties of the content type that will filter the search results to documents based on the passed value.  Example: Employee content type has custom page that lists the details about that employee, and
when passing the department in the url to the page, a list of department specific documents can be displayed.
There are several attributes of the "Employee" content type that we would like to filter for specific documents with.  How can I access these attributes with out passing them through the query string in the url?
I would rather not have to pass all these elements in the url Employee.aspx?employeeid={0}&department={1}&state={2}&employeetype={3} ect...  I would be better to just pass the employee id, and the page be able to get all the information
it needs for the Search Results/Content Search web parts.
Any thoughts would be helpful.  We are currently looking at the Product Catalog items, but this doesn't seem to fix our issue where we need to filter the results based on attributes of the current contextual content type.
Thank You
Shane

I have been doing some more research, and I just cannot seem to find a viable option.  Can I use the Page.<FieldName>, or ListItem.<property>?  I am not sure, and no body seems to be doing anything like this?  Can it be done with
javascript on the client, without having to rebuild the Display Template functionality for the results?
So many questions and no one seems to have an answer?

  • Creating select option with the search help based on other select option

    Hi,
    I have displayed a selection screen with two select options S1 and S2.
    My requirement is that the values in the search help of S2 should get filled based on the values selected in S1.
    Note: User has option to select multiple values in S1.
    Does anybody know how to implement this?
    Thanks,

    I'm getting fairly tired of seeing this completely incorrect information on this forum.  As stated before and already found out by this poster, you can map input and output values between multiple data dictionary search helps. You do NOT have to resort to using OVS for this option.

  • Running query based on other query result

    Hi Again Friends.
    first of all i am very much thankful for members who sent me prompt response and been helping for last 2 days.I am again with query,maybe a lame one.
    I want to run a query based on record return from previous query.FOr instance i have query
    Select sum(marks) from studentMarks,student_id where course_Id=4 and student_Id
    IN
    (Select StudentId from Student where dept_id=3)
    the courseID and studentID are being repeated in the above table
    now I want to show Student Names with the marks Obtained and who belong to dept_id=3,i want to run other query to get Name based on StudentId resutned from previous one.
    Is there anyway to do this in oracle to save result in some resultSe and use it later?
    Thankyou

    Do you mean something like:
    Select sum(marks), S.StudentId, S.StudentName
    from StudentMarks M
    ,      Student          S
    where S.course_Id=4
    and  M.Student_id = S.StudentId
    and S.student_Id
    IN
    (Select StudentId from Student where dept_id=3)
    group by StudentId, StudentName

  • Group suppression based on other group results

    How do I suppress an upper level Group based on, no results in its sub group level.
    Example:
    GroupA Part Id (suppress when groupB has no results)
       GroupB  Operation  (This group uses a suppression formula itself)
    Sound simple I know but I can't figure it out.
    Shirley

    I need to suppress at GroupB  do to a conflict in the selection formula overriding other formulas.
    I was able to bring the suppressed field up to that level and suppress based on that.

  • Returning Different Results for the  Same Search Value

    I'm creating a word list and I'm using Lookup to find text entries in column D and return values from column A. I can manage one result based on the search criteria however I'm wondering if it's possible to return multiple entries from column A if multiple matches are found in column D:
    As you can see I'm trying to use the formula =LOOKUP("Aggression",D,A) to find all the instances of "Aggression" in column D and return all the corresponding results from column A (audacious, barefaced, and depredation). Lookup however only returns the last match (depredation).

    I wish you'd shown where your LOOKUP function is located and what you're trying to do with it. Are you going to be using these results in another function? Or are you simply wanting to display the results of your search?
    If the latter, there's an elegant way to make this happen. Let's create a single-cell table on the same page, holding the word you're searching for. (Ideally, this could be a drop-down list -- and that can be made to dynamicly hold all the discrete values in column D -- but that's another discussion.) Let's call this table "Search".
    Add a column (which can be hidden) to your original table. Let's insert this next to your column D, making it column E. Cell E2 contains =IF($D2=Search :: $A$1,TRUE,FALSE). Drag/copy that down the column. You'll now have a value of TRUE in this column for all the words you're looking for. Now click on the top of this column E and click "Show More Options".... and click on "Show rows that match the following". Set it to show where Column E is true. You now show only the words in which the "category" matches the search word.
    Change the word in your Search table, and the display of your original table automatically adjusts.
    The nice part is that the entire line is displayed so you can see definitions and contexts as well.

  • Conditional Display of A region based on a Search condition

    Hello All,
    I would really appreciate any suggestion and pointers on how to achieve the below.
    My requirement is to display a tabulated result based on a search condition.
    I have two regions. One region contains the items to enable a search and the other region will be used to display the search results.
    Region A is an HTML region containing three items
    1.     A text field: to enter the search text
    2.     A list field: to determine the type of entity to search (customer_id, invoice number, Passport No)
    3.     A button: to initiate the search process.
    Region B is a reports region displaying the search results
    My question is:
    1.     Is basing the source of the region as a “PL/SQL function returning a select statement” the ideal choice. I will have variable “WHERE” clauses based on the search criteria entered in region A. However, the columns returned will always be the same
    2.     How do we get the region B to display only when there are results returned from the search results
    3.     How do we base by result set based on a stored procedure in the database. Basically as an API. We pass in the parameters and the API passes the result set back to APEX. This way, I can have all the DML hidden behind the stored procedures
    Looking forward to your comments and suggestions

  • Creating result based search programatically

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create a simple result based search programmatically. I need to do this because I want the user to basically be able to select a specific table name and then the search adjusts the criteria and results automatically based on the table selected. If you like it is a generic query mechanism.
    I have attempted to do this by declaratively setting up the query region as far as possible and then adding the table fields and binding them to a VO instance that I have created (I also create the view definition programatically)
    The query region renders and the go and clear buttons are available, the result table renders and if I do a blind query it works fine and the result appear. The problem I have is that for the fields in the table that have queriable set to yes, the search region is not rendering the search fields.
    This is what I have done (all in process request for now to get it working)
    OADBTransactionImpl dbTx = (OADBTransactionImpl)am.getTransaction();
    OAViewDef viewDef = dbTx.createViewDef();
    viewDef.setViewObjectClass("oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OAViewObjectImpl");
    viewDef.setViewRowClass("oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OAViewRowImpl");
    viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("RECORD_ID","RECORD_ID","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
    viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("RUNTIME_KEY","RUNTIME_KEY","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
    viewDef.addSqlDerivedAttrDef("STATUS","STATUS","java.lang.String",Types.VARCHAR,false,true,AttributeDef.READONLY);
    viewDef.setSql(sqlStmt);
    am.createViewObject("InterfaceTableVO1",viewDef);
    OATableBean tableBean = (OATableBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("InterfaceTableVO1");
    OAMessageStyledTextBean leaf = null;
    leaf=(OAMessageStyledTextBean)createWebBean(pageContext,MESSAGE_STYLED_TEXT_BEAN,null,"RECORD_ID");
    leaf.setViewUsageName("InterfaceTableVO1");
    leaf.setViewAttributeName("RECORD_ID");
    leaf.setWrapEnabled(false);
    leaf.setPrompt("RECORD_ID");
    leaf.setQueryable(true);
    tableBean.addIndexedChild(leaf);
    The query bean and table have been defined declaratively, my hope was when I added the leaf nodes to the table with query able set to true that the framework would automatically figure the bindings out but it doesn't seem to be doing this.
    Could this be a UIX rendering problem that I need to get around somehow?
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hello Kalpana,
    I've already locked your previous discussion and thought that I gave pretty clear warning.
    First of all "do my job" posts are not welcomed on SCN.
    Second point: you're incorrect in choosing SCN space with such questions. Here is a little which is related to IC in your task.
    Third point is that if somebody has an answer to your exact question then he will give you it if he wants. There is no reason to post-post-post messages asking for help or hurry. Your "urgent requirement" is not the reason either.
    Fourth one is: according to The SCN Rules of Engagement you need to do the search before posting. Almost all of your questions regarding this topic has an answer already.
    Locking the discussion again. If you continue to post such questions I will need to report this situation to SAP CRM space editors and global moderators.

  • Limiting search results to show results based off of entry in a catgory.

    I am working of someones previous search query, and now the company wants it to be more limited to what is viewed.  I have multiple users in a database and each user has a state assigned to them. I do not want the user when doing a search, to have the results comeback and show all results for every state. The States are defined in the database category as follows. IL, IA, FL, NV.  There will never be anything in this category but these. Below is the code that I am trying to modify to limit the result to the specific state they are using. Assuming that the 'form' table has a state field, you just need to include that in the WHERE clause. You can either get that when you log in, by retrieving it from the user table, or, by joining the two tables together in the query. The latter assumes that there is a relationship between user and form.
    But again, I suggest as a first step to clean up the mess that you already have. The person that created this did not understand what they were doing.

  • Highly frustrated with Outlook 2013 Search People box bugs - Multiple Name Results for Same Contact & Inconsistent Results

    The Outlook 2013 "Search People" box does not function properly. It frequently displays incorrect results or a mess of duplicate results. I've reported previous issues about this and consolidating my posts into one (with screenshots this
    time). Hopefully this message will be forwarded to or seen by the Outlook programmers. It really needs to be fixed.
    Outlook 2010 and other prior versions worked perfectly. You search for name, you get ONE result with the info you're looking for. FAST AND EASY. But with Outlook 2013 Microsoft has created a heck of a mess resulting in huge frustration and productivity loss
    with such simple but important tasks.
    I have hundreds of contacts stored in my Outlook address book, and they all have COMPLETE contact info added.
    One major issue that I'm experiencing in the new Outlook 2013 is that I now get average of 4 or more duplicate name results appearing for the same contact. And each result contains different and incomplete contact info, making it impossible for me to quickly
    find the basic info I'm looking for. The cause of this issue is that Outlook 2013 now provides results from not only your local address book(s), but it also shows results based  on your email history and social media accounts setup.
    And there's no way to turn this off, or at least specify what folders and/or accounts the People Search box should use.
    To make matters worse, the Microsoft developers conveniently forgot to add some form of an indicator (like a small icon besides each name result in the list)  that clearly indicates what result is from what source. So you must manually click on each
    result one at a time and repeat the search until you locate the correct one.
    For one specific example, I have a contact stored in my local address book called
    Infusionsoft. When I type "Infusionsoft" in the People Search box to quickly find a phone number, Outlook  2013 shows me 7 results with the same name. See the screenshot below:
    As you can see in the screenshot above, every result just says "Infusionsoft", so I have to manually click on each name result one at a time and repeat the process until I find the correct one from my address book. This same thing happens with other
    random contacts.
    From what I can tell, Outlook is pulling results based on  based on recent emails I've received from different people with "@infusionsoft.com" in their email address. So the first result shows "[email protected]" (just the email
    address), the second result shows "[email protected]", the third result shows "[email protected]" and so forth. I don't want Outlook to show all of that. I just want what's in my address book!
    And you would think that the last result would be the correct one from my address book, but no. Sometimes its the 5th result, and other times it's the 3rd or 7th result. So there's no freaking order of things here.
    We simply need the ability to turn off searching of email history and other accounts when using the People Search box. Problem fixed.
    (And please don't tell me that I need to "link" every incorrect result to one main contact. You shouldn't expect everyone to have to tediously link any and all results that appear to a record. ESPECIALLY when 5+ results for each contact appear regularly.)
    ISSUE 2: Some names must be typed in a different way for the Search People to locate them
    Another big issue I'm having with the Search People box is that some name searches don’t show the correct result, unless I search for their names in a different way.
    For one specific example, I have a contact stored in my address book named "Dave Johnson". When I type "Dave Johnson" in the Search People box, one result appears, but it's just his email address, only. It's not the result that's stored in my Outlook address
    book with his phone number, addresses, etc. Screen shot below:
    If I type in Dave's name reverse order (Johnson Dave),  no results are found at all.
    Now if I just type in just"Johnson" all by itself, it finds Dave's correct result (the one stored in my Outlook Address Book). Along with everybody else that has "Johnson" in their name (see screenshot below)...
    I double-checked how I have Dave's name programed in my address book, and it's in there as "Dave Johnson" for both the Full Name and File As fields.
    Also, the name order shouldn't make any difference when using the People Search Box anyway. Sometimes I can find people by Last Name, First Name or First Name, Last Name. Only with random contacts does it get difficult finding  their info and
    I have to do strange things like this to find them from the People Search box.
    ISSUE 3: Some Search People results only yield an email address only.
    For other random contacts, some search results only yield an email address with no other contact details. But I can open the persons contact card from the address book manually, with the same email address shown! Screenshot below...
    In the screenshot above, I have outlined the Search People box results in red, and the Address Book results in green. You can clearly see that "Robert White" is a contact stored in my local address book with full contact details, but the Search People result
    only shows his email address! Again, it's not consitent. It's hit or miss with different people.
    ISSUE 4: Some results just don't appear at all, but they are in the address book
    Another issue I'm experiencing with the People Search Box is that some people simply  cannot be found. But I can see their contact info just fine if I click on the "People" tab down at the bottom of the page and type in their name in the "Search Contacts"
    field. Why can't the People Search box find certain people? I opened up their contact details and cannot find a single thing  that would prevent them from showing up in results.
    These are clearly serious bugs that need to be fixed. And I'm shocked as to how this got missed--or ignored during alpha and beta testing. I see the "idea" behind the developers having the Search People box search everything outside of the
    address book, but in real world application this causes a heck of a lot of problems & confusion, and it needs to be fixed ASAP.
    For technical details, I have Outlook 2013 running on two computers using hosted Exchange 2010. One system is Windows 7 and other is Windows 8. The same problems occur on BOTH computers. As far as my Outlook account setup, I have all contacts stored in the
    main address book (no sub-folders or other folders).
    Can someone help communicate this message to the Outlook developers??? The "Frown" button limits me to 100 characters and one image. There's no way I can communicate this level of detail and steps to duplicate in 100 characters!

    Thanks for your reply.
    1) The instant search boxes in each individual page work just fine. If I am on the People page and type in a name in the "Search Contacts" field, it searches my contacts and displays the results that I want. But I should not have to leave whatever screen
    I'm in to find people now. In Outlook 2010 and earlier versions, I could be on the calendar page and then search for a contact without clicking off the calendar completely. For productivity-sake, it's a huge waste of time and hassle now.
    2) I'm familiar with how contact linking works, and quite frankly it's a huge mess in general. I NEVER create multiple contacts for the same person. I get that Outlook 2013 get confused now when it detects a LinkedIn or Facebook account for the same person
    already in my Outlook address book, but we need to have options that allow us to turn off results from some or all social networks. This is a big part of the problem.
    Think about it this way - The average person has 150+ LinkedIn connections, and more for Facebook. Many people today have accounts for both and they are setup with the same email address. When Outlook 2013 has to scan all the networks IN ADDITION to your
    local address book(s), it's a no brainer that it can get very confused trying to display results.
    Another big part of the problem is that Outlooks new search system also scans your email history. I receive emails from people who use multiple email addresses, or emails from companies with multiple reps or ticket systems that send you a unique
    ticket ID # ending in the same email address domain. Now Outlook displays people search results based on everything under the sun in my email history. This is beyond frustrating (see my "Infusionsoft" screenshot above in the first post).
    Again, I want to stress that for the search examples I referenced, I only have one entry in my Outlook address book for each person. And that's all I want to find when I search for people--what's already in my own address book!
    In summary:
    We need an OPTION to turn off searching external networks when using the People Search box
    We need an option to tell Outlook to not scan email history for people search results (I think this needs to be disabled entirely actually. It's not helpful at all)
    There should be a fixed priority for displaying people search results, with local address book results FIRST, followed by social network results.
    There should be a clear icon/indicator next to each result that gives you a clue as to where the result is coming from. Your address book? Facebook? LinkedIn? We should not need to click on each result to get a hint as to where it's coming from.
    Work out the bugs in general with the new search system.
    One other thing that I didn't mention is that the Search People box also shows results for people I'm not even "friends" or connected with on the different social networks. But I've noticed that some people use the same email address for those networks that
    I already have programmed for them in my address book, which is why Outlook sometimes shows me these results. Does that make sense?
    I'll try rebuilding the index, but after testing Outlook 2013 on 3 different machines so far and seeing the same results (all slightly different results on each machine and very inconsistent), I doubt this will address the issue.

  • Search criteria is retained but search results are not retained

    Hi ,
    I have a search screen ( resultBased Search). On Click of go , it lists out all the records which are matching the criteria.
    In this results table , I have single selection. User can select one record and view the details of those records. But if I cancel the detail screen it is coming back to the search screen with all the search criteria entered . But in results table only the selected record is available and no other records. I am retaining the AM during navigation.
    I am using the same vo for results table and viewing the details.
    For example, I have a project VO . On search , it will list out all the Project List and each row belongs to a Project VO.
    On select , I am taking the selected Project VO and display insite details.
    Can anyone help me on this.
    Thanks
    Suresh

    That is why. To navigate to the Page, you are finding a unique record and viewing/updating the row. Now once you navigate back to the Search Page, that single row which resides in the VO is rendered.
    To resolve this either you have two VOs (may be almost similar queries) for Search and the Page, or you can try requerying the VO once you navigate to the search Page. Decide based on your own requirements.
    Thanks

  • Search function does not work, shows ( ) results but won't expand, javalangnullpointer error message

    I have a storm 9530 , verizon, v4.70.75 platform 4.0.0.94
    3 apps installed, facebook,, weather channel and live strong calorie counter, 44.7 mb free space.
    I just got this phone because I beat up my curve.
    I tried to search my device so find something on the calendar.  I opened the search, clicked the calendar and unclicked evertything else.  hit the menu button, highlighted search.... now it goes weird..... either NOTHING happens and the phone locks up.  PULLED the battery and started over.... sometimes it WILL search.... shows (3) results, but not what the results are, hit menu and EXPAND and nothing happens..... OR I get the uncaught exception, javalangnullpointer error.
    Please help!  I rely heavily on my calendar and the search funciton.

    Hello,
    You are running an extremely old (and EOL, btw) device, further hampered with a very out of date OS (they offer into the 5.x.x.x range OS for that model). The device was never known for it's stability (I had one for a while), and may indeed never function well for you. (And I never bothered with any of the search capabilities, especially in older OS levels.)
    What I'd recommend is a clean OS reload...the simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    Don't forget to backup.
    If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
    KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software
    You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
    You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
    Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
    If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
    If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
    Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
    If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
    Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
    When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
    If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
    If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
    Good luck and let us know!

    Hello,
    I have 5 Content search web part on same page with different display templates.
    1) Search Aggregated Result - This display search results for announcements,discussion and wiki as per the current user.
    2) My websites - Thsi displays site links as per the current user.
    3) My Tasks - This display task items as per the current user
    4) Daily calendar - This display the results as per the date selection in calendar control.
    For Daily calendar - I have specified calendar control in custom display template to filter search results based on date selection which is working as below:
    I have got the reference from following link that changing the query dynamically to filter search result data -
    http://sharepointificate.blogspot.in/2014/08/content-search-webpart-dynamic-filtering.html
    ctx.OnPostRender = [];
    ctx.OnPostRender.push(ctx,function(){
    $('<div id="trCalendar" class=""></div>').insertBefore('#idCalender')
    $(document).ready(function () {
    $("#trCalendar").datepicker( {
    onSelect: function(date) {
    var groups = Srch.ScriptApplicationManager.get_current().queryGroups;
    $.each(groups, function () {
    // Look for query groups associated with a CSWP
    if (this.displays != null && this.displays.length > 0) {
    if (this.displays[0] instanceof Srch.Result) {
    // Update and execute query
    var newQuery = 'ContentTypeId:0x0102*'+ ' ' +'EndDate'+ '>=' + date;
    this.dataProvider.set_queryTemplate(newQuery);
    this.dataProvider.issueQuery();
    selectWeek: true,
    However, this date query is being applied for every search result web part mentioned in page.
    How can I make it work only for the Daily Calendar web part ?
    Your answer will be much appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Dipti Chhatrapati

    Dipti,
    How about replacing you line as below (with content class)
    var newQuery = 'ContentTypeId:0x0102*'+ ' ' +'EndDate'+ '>=' + date;
    with
    var newQuery = 'contentclass:STS_ListItem_Events'+ ' ' +'EndDate'+ '>=' + date;

  • How can I use ONE Text search iView to event/affect mutliple Result Sets?

    hello everyone,
    i have a special situation in which i have 6 flat tables in my repository which all have a common field called Location ID (which is a lookup flat to the Locations table).
    i am trying to build a page with a free-form text search iView on Table #1 (search field = Location ID).  when I execute the search, the result set for Table #1 is properly updated, but how do I also get Result Set iViews for Tables #2-6 to also react to the event from Text Search for Table #1 so that they are updated?
    i don't want to have to build 6 different text search iViews (one for each table).  i just want to use ONE text search iView for all the different result set tables.  but, in the documentation and iView properties, the text search iView doesn't have any eventing.
    if you have any suggestions, please help.
    many thanks in advance,
    mm

    hello Donna,
    that should not be a problem, since you are detailw with result sets and detail iviews because custom eventing can be defined for those iviews.
    Yes, it says "no records" found because an active search and record selection havent' been performed for it (only your main table does).
    So, yes, define a custom event, and pass the appropriate parameters and you should be fine.
    Creating a custom event between a Result Set iView and an Item Details iView is easy and works. I have done it.
    See page 35 of the Portal Content Development Guide for a step-by-step example, which is what I used.
    For my particular situation, the problem I'm having is that I want the Search Text iView's event (i.e., when the Submit button is pressed) to be published to multiple iViews, all with different tables.  Those tables all share some common fields, which is what the Search iView has, so I'd like to pass the search critera to all of the iViews.

  • I used to be able to search a subject and have the "results" show up with a new tab, but now it opens the result in the same tab, how do I fix this?

    I have tried repeatedly to get the options section to show how to do this but everything changed with the "new-and-improved(?)" Mozilla!
    Could someone please explain to me how to get this to work like it used to (open search results or links in a new tab)??? PLEASE, it is driving me nuts since my slow @ssed computer and AT&T (should be AS&S without the &) internet, makes me remember the bad old days of the 286 computer load times:
    Down memory lane...
    Power button on ==> go take a Shower, Shave, and the other S ==> Make coffee ==> enable program in command line (pre-windows) ==> fix breakfast and another coffee cup ==> curse at computer because it made you forget to add another switch to your command line...
    How many remember those days?!
    They say laughter is the best medicine, except I'm not laughing about the new Mozilla anymore :(

    Could you clarify where you are doing your search?
    ''For Firefox's "Search bar",'' which is the box on the right end of the main navigation toolbar with the icon indicating your currently selected search engine, there is a hidden setting for this:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sear''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.search.openintab''' preference to switch it from false to true.
    If you test, does it work?
    ''For searches from other places,'' could you be more specific about where you are entering your query (e.g., address bar, built-in home page, on a search engine site)?
