Creating users thru GTC
Hi,
we are working on 2 OIM 9.1 machines, where we need to create users present in one OIM to other OIM instance through the use of SPML web services. not thru reconciliation.
Host A contains an OIM server installed. A generic connector (GTC) is defined here.
Host B is the target where another OIM server is installed wherein users must be created. This users so created are the ones which are already present in Host A.
A webservice (axis) is installed here.
So basically we need to send the users from host A to host B through SPML web services.
I am stuck on how to create users into the target machine, thru the use of this GTC?
Can anyone help me regarding this?
Thanks in advance
There are several ways of implementing security. You still can use the default Oracle users and let the database do the security. But you have to use database roles with passwords to shield off any unwanted actions outside the application. You have to grant access on the database objects to the database role. The role is also granted to the user (but is not a default role).
In the application, after succesfully logon, you have to set the role and thus enabling the user to access the tables, views and other objects.
There is more information about implementing security in the database manuals. For Oracle 8i (8.1.6) you can find it here: http://technet.oracle.com/doc/oracle8i_816/appdev.816/a76939/adg12sec.htm
By the way it is possible to shield off the use of SQL*Plus in SQL*Plus itself. See also the above mentioned documentation for more info on that.

Display name not getting generated When creating user thorugh GTC
We are using GTC flat file as a trusted source. We see that display name not getting generated. And same thing happening when creating a new GTC mapping.
previously when we ran with few test user got created with display name through GTC flat file , Suddenly we see this issue display name not getting generated through flat file recon.
Manually user creation has no issues.
Please let me know if you have any idea about this issue.Don't use GTC... GTC is inflexible and buggy technology... Nothing guaranteed... Rather create your own custom trusted recon code...

Steps Involved in creating Users thru the API
Hi Mark or anybody from Oracle,
Your solution to build a string for the
XML and then parse it is ok. However I would
like to do it programmatically instead of building strings containing the XML.
What are the steps and exactly what attributes do you need to set for the User
to be created programmatically.
Here is the steps I have and It's giving me
the following exception: IFS-30002 - Unable to create new library object.
The objects needed to create a user are:
1) DirectoryUserDef + set its attributes
2) Folder Definition for User folder then add
to parent folder in this case /home
3) PrimaryProfileUserDefinition + set its attributes DirectoryUser and HomeFolder ?
Can you elaborate on the exact steps to take
and exact attributes to set.
Thanks
null#1 I would strongly recommend the XML based approach. It's much easier, and if we change the way the user / directory objects are organized in much less likely to require you to alter your code.
Note that in order to create the objects programatically you're going to have to make sure that you have set ACLs and Owners correctly. It really is quite a complex process.
At some later date we 'may' provide a simple Java API for creating users.
In order to understand your error I need to catch the exception and print the stack trace as per the end of my code example for creating a user from an XML string.
Please post the results of the stack trace and someone will attempt to respond to you. -

Edited by: Dhinakaran Jeyachandran on Feb 1, 2008 12:35 PMIn the User Administration section of your portal find your newly created user and below select "Assigned Roles" tab then press <Modify> button and look through available roles on portal then just simply add and save. But if you want to do it programmatically see below:
IUserAcountFactory userFactory = UMFactory.getUserAccountFactory();
// IUser - read only but with IUserAccount is possible to set up user data
IUserAccountSearchFilter userFilter = userFactory.getUserAccountSearchFilter();
userFilter.setLogonUid("superuser", ISearchAttribute.LIKE_OPERATOR, false);
ISearchResult sr = userFactory.search(userFilter);
for (final Iterator i = new PrincipalIterator(sr); i.hasNext();) {
IUserAccount user = (IUserAccount) i.next();
Execute the same search for IRole (or IGroup if needed) get the unique id of them and use newRole(...) and addUserToRole(...) methods from IRoleFactory.
Of course you don't need search for this principals if you know uniqueness of them. Use appropriate factories to get'em all by this unique id.
All the features see in [javadocs|http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/se/index.html] -

nullCindy,
Thanks for the solution. It worked fine after changing servername to lowercase.
The servername was set in in httpd.conf by the 9iAS installer itself. I would like to express that Oracle should have checked before launching or should have listed it in the release notes.
Once again thanks for the inputs, Cindy.

Password Violation error while creating users from Admin interface
Guys,
The Sun Identity Manager system throws policy violation error while creating users from Sun Identity Manager Admin interface.
Current System:
1. I have configured TAM Pass-Thru authentication for End User Login Application.
2. I have an admin user 'testsjimadmin1' who has admin capabilities. testsjimadmin1 user has default SJIM password policy.
3. I have custom password policies configured for different orgainizatoions
Problem:
1. The Sun Identity Manager throws a password policy violation error when 'testsjimadmin1' tries to create an user with valid or invalid password from Sun Identity Manager Admin interface.
2. If TAM Pass-thru authentication is removed for 'End User Login Application' and Sun Identity Manager default authentication is configured for 'End User Login Application' then testsjimadmin1 was able to create user successfully without any errors.
Please let me know if any configurations are required to be made on Sun Identity Manager for TAM Pass-Thru authentication so that admin users can create users successfully from admin interface.
Appreciate your help!!!

suresh babuHi,
You can open any process in an iview which is assigned to a page and to a role. Once you click on this role, the process will get initiated and the webdynpro application will be displayed.
If you open the instantiating url, it will ask for the input parameters that are to be passed to the application and initiates the application. It does not display your webdynpro page.
For the iview you have created, Assign this iview to a page, and then assign it to a role. Assign the role to your user id and then open the role. Also mention in the iview parameters if any role based information has to be passed.
Award points if helpful.

Generate User Login in "Create User" Request
Hi Guys,
I have more a problem. To create user, I am using a Request (Create User Template), I managed add the attributes that would necessary normally, but I use a Event Handler (Post-Process) to generate user login. So I marked the User Login in Attributes Restrictions, fixing an user login default for example: autogenerate.
Then I created a new request to create user, I filled out all the fields that I marked to appear. I approved this request, and the user is created with the User Login generate by my Event Handler normally. The issue is, when I create 2 create user requests, as I use a Default value in the User Login attribute, if the first request still isn't approved, the second request isn't created because the "autogenerate" user login already being used.
Exists some otherwise to I resolve this issue?
ThanksHi Bikash,
Use a prepopulate adapter an attribute with timestamp is nice idea, but I use the "Create User" template CreateUserDataSet.xml and not exists a form in Design Console to associate the prepopulate adapter.
I had thought in eventhundler because I use a method that check on Active Directory if the user login generated by other method, already is being used. And I use this eventhandler in HR GTC recon too.
About XL.LDAPReservationPluginImpl, I opened the oracle.iam.identity.usermgmt.impl.plugins.reservation.ReservationInOID but I not understood as use this option. If I needs add in this class my method of generate user login. If I needs implement an new class similar to this class, using my methods and associate the name of class in XL.LDAPReservationPluginImpl.
Thanks a lot -
How to reconcile deleted users with GTC
Hi all,
I'm wandering wich is the best approach to perform reconciliation of deleted users using GTC connector. (It doesn't concile it by default, does it?).
I don't know if it's a bad idea to mark the deletion in the target table row (setting a value in a column) and revoke the user through an Entity Adapter. Should it be better to develop a custom Scheduled Task for this?
Any tip will be considered!
Thanks in advance,Hi,
Yes I run both Schedule task as "time-programmed" . I usually run creation task first and then it is followed by delete recon task.
I am not fully understanding what do you mean by starting GTC generated task automatically? Please give me more insight before I comment on this.
For delete recon you need to do following
HashMap userValues[];
userValues = null;
userValues=createDeleteHashMap(results);
Set deletedAcc = reconUtil.provideDeletionDetectionData(resourceObject, userValues);
missingUser = reconUtil.getMissingAccounts(resourceObject, deletedAcc);
long reconEvent[] = reconUtil.deleteDetectedAccounts(missingUser);
Here userValues is array of Hashmap which have all the non revoked user.
So your steps should be.
1.Query the table wich store all active users and store them in an array of hashmap
2.Pass it to provideDeletionDetectionData method.
3.pass step 2 result set to getMissingAccounts method.
4.Pass step 3 result set to deleteDetectedAccounts.
Alternatively you do following.If in your query you can find out which user is deleted and if you are oim9.1 then follow these steps.
1.Query the table and get revoked/deleted user and store then in a hashmap.
2.Use createDeleteReconciliationEvent(java.lang.String psObjName, java.util.Map poAttributeList) to create the delete reconciliation event.
First approach is bit risky because if somehow in your table or view all the record are delete or revoked or by any error GTC connector did not find any record then it will revoked all the user from OIM which can lead to disaster as you are doing trusted recon.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Is there a way to create user logins or some other way to ...
Is there a way to create user logins or some other grouping for a set of applications to use (memory) resources optimally -- for example only mail and Safari and Word in one grouping and another for Safari and an audio recording application, etc.?
It is possible to use Parenal Controls to limit which applications can be used be a particular user account.
But it's not really necessary as far as managing memory.

I'm getting an error on a line in the middle of a larger sql script, only in SQL Azure.
IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.database_principals WHERE name = N'foouser')
CREATE USER [foouser] FOR LOGIN [foouser] WITH DEFAULT_SCHEMA=[dbo]
GO
Error: "The CREATE USER statement must be the only statement in the batch."
I don't actually understand what 'the only statement in the batch' means.
What is a batch? Is it a SQL file? Is it related to a 'GO' statement or an 'IF' statement? What is the reason for the error? And how do I avoid it?
Thanks,
Tim>IF...ELSE imposes conditions on the execution of a Transact-SQL statement
I understand the general purpose of an If statement. I could let go of our definition of statement counting disagreeing too except that because of the error I'm stuck.
It's less important for Create User but what I am really puzzled over now is a very similar issue how am I supposed to do a safe version of CREATE LOGIN, when I don't know whether a login has been previously created on the server or whether I
am setting up the database on a clean server?
IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.server_principals WHERE name = N'foouser')
CREATE LOGIN [foouser] WITH PASSWORD = 'asdfasdf'
GO
If I try and execute this script, it throws the same error as above.
The first unworkable workaround idea is to omit the if statement
CREATE LOGIN [foouser] WITH PASSWORD = 'asdfasdf'
GO
But if the login already exists on the server (because a similar script was already run), then the script throws an error.
The second unworkable workaround idea is to do
DROP LOGIN [foouser]
GO
CREATE LOGIN [foouser] WITH PASSWORD = 'asdfasdf'
GO
Obviously this throws an error in the second block if the login doesn't already exist on the server.
The third workaround idea I have is to go conditional by putting an IF condition around DROP instead of CREATE:
Unfortunately that doesn't work for me either!
"The DROP LOGIN statement must be the only statement in the batch"
(This is despite the fact that 'drop login' is listed on the
supported commands page, not the partially supported page..?! Which disagrees with the notes on
this page.)
Anyway the real question I am interesting in addressing is: is there actually a way to have a 'Create/Delete login
if exists' operation which is SQL-Azure compatible and doesn't throw me error messages (which messes with the sql execution tool I am using)?
If there is no way, I would like to believe it's because it would be a bad idea to do this. But in that case why is it a bad idea?

How to create user defined button in alv report
how to create user defined button in alv report
thnks in advance.Hi,
U can define it the the PF-STATUS ( Menu for ALV ).
For that u have to define it in the EVENTCAT.
form z_eventcat using p_i_eventcat type slis_t_event.
data: i_event type slis_alv_event.
call function 'REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET'
exporting
i_list_type = 0
importing
et_events = p_i_eventcat
exceptions
list_type_wrong = 1
others = 2.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
endif.
clear i_event.
read table p_i_eventcat with key name = slis_ev_top_of_page into
i_event.
if sy-subrc = 0.
move 'TOP_OF_PAGE' to i_event-form.
append i_event to p_i_eventcat.
endif.
read table p_i_eventcat with key name = slis_ev_pf_status_set into i_event.
if sy-subrc = 0.
move 'SET_PF_STATUS' to i_event-form.
append i_event to p_i_eventcat.
endif.
clear i_event.
read table p_i_eventcat into i_event with key name = slis_ev_user_command .
if sy-subrc = 0.
move 'USER_COMMAND' to i_event-form.
append i_event to p_i_eventcat.
endif.
And in the DISPLAY
call function 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'
exporting
i_callback_program = v_progname
i_callback_pf_status_set = 'SET_PF_STATUS'
i_callback_user_command = 'USER_COMMAND'
i_callback_top_of_page = 'TOP_OF_PAGE'
i_grid_title = v_gridtitle
i_save = 'A'
is_layout = i_layout
it_fieldcat = i_fieldcat[]
it_sort = i_sortinfo
it_events = i_eventcat
IMPORTING
E_EXIT_CAUSED_BY_CALLER =
ES_EXIT_CAUSED_BY_USER =
tables
t_outtab = it_final
exceptions
program_error = 1
others = 2
if sy-subrc <> 0.
message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
endif.
*MENU SETTINGS.
form set_pf_status using rt_extab type slis_t_extab.
set pf-status 'ALV_MENU'.
endform. "SET_PF_STATUS
endform. " Z_EVENTCAT
Now double click on ALV MENU nad u can create a button in the application bar.
