• Using predefined data objects classes.

I am always trying to be a better, more efficient Flex developer and I was looking at a project by Christophe Coenraets where he created collaberative forms using Flex/BlazeDS. I saw in his application that he was using multidirectional binding to a Class Object for each form in the application. For example, this is the MortgageApplication.as
package
import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
[Bindable]
public class MortgageApplication
public var firstName:String;
public var lastName:String;
public var ssn:String;
public var phone:String;
public var mobilePhone:String;
public var email:String;
public var notify:Boolean;
public var usCitizen:Boolean;
public var address:String
public var city:String
public var state:String
public var zip:String
public var singleFamily:Boolean;
public var salePrice:Number = 500000;
public var downPayment:Number = 100000;
public var closingDate:Date;
public var jobList:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection();
I have an application that I use multiple forms to input information into the database and then I use Objects (actually ObjectProxys) and ArrayCollections to store information to display. I use the Mate Framework and have manager classes that store predefined bindable variables (empty) that are injected into the view as needed or requested. In the manager class I just create a new ObjectProxy (or ArrayCollection) and use the information passed in (an ArrayCollection from ColdFusion) and create/modify the ObjectProxy/ArrayCollection before having it injected.
Is it better practice or more efficent to predefine object classes (such as above from the example) then just populate them in the manager class before the injection or just create an new blank Object or ArrayCollection on the fly. Is there any difference?
Set up a seperate Class:
package
[Bindable]
public class Person
public var firstName:String;
public var lastName:String;
public var phone:String;
and do this in the Manager:
public function setPerson():void {
var person = new Person();
person.firstName = "Steve";
person.lastName = "Smith";
person.phone = "555.555.1212";
OR just have this declaired in the Manager as
[Bindable] public var person:ObjectProxy;
public function setPerson():void {
person = new ObjectProxy();
person.firstName = "Steve";
person.lastName = "Smith";
person.phone = "555.555.1212";
Thanks to anyone who wants to help me become a better developer!

ObjectProxy access is significantly slower that data class access. ObjectProxy will not tell you if you mistype the name of a property and you can spend hours trying to find some place were you typed ssm insead of ssn.

• Sorting a vector of objects using attribute of object class as comparator

i would like to sort a vector of objects using an attribute of object class as comparator. let me explain, i'm not sure to be clear.
class MyObject{
String name;
int value1;
int value2;
int value3;
i've got a Vector made of MyObject objects, and i would sort it, for instance, into ascending numerical order of the value1 attribute. Could someone help me please?
KINSKI.

Vector does not implement a sorted collection, so you can't use a Comparator. Why don't you use a TreeSet? Then you couldclass MyObject
String name;
int value1;
int value2;
int value3;
// Override equals() in this class to match what our comparator does
boolean equals (Object cand)
// Verify comparability; this will also allow subclasses.
if (cand !instanceof MyObject)
throw new ClassCastException();
return value1 = cand.value1;
// Provide the comparator for this class. Make it static; instance not required
static Comparator getComparator ()
// Return this class's comparator
return new MyClassComparator();
// Define a comparator for this class
private static class MyClassComparator implements Comparator
compare (Object cand1, Object cand2)
// Verify comparability; this will also allow subclasses.
if ((cand1 !instanceof MyObject) || (cand2 !instanceof MyObject))
throw new ClassCastException();
// Compare. Less-than return -1
if ((MyObject) cand1.value1 < (MyObject) cand2.value1))
return -1;
// Greater-than return 1
else if ((MyObject) cand1.value1 > (MyObject) cand2.value1))
return 1;
// Equal-to return 0.
else
return 0;
}then just pass MyObject.getComparator() (you don't need to create an instance) when you create the TreeSet.

• Model View Controller design question

Hi,
I am creating a brand new web application, and would like to use the Model View Controller design (using Beans, JSP, and Servlets).
I am looking design suggestions for handling page forwarding. I don't want to post to a jsp, and I don't want to hard code the name of the next jsp on the forward or in the servlet. I was thinking of having a properties or xml file, which lays out the routing read by the servlet and then dispatched.
Does anyone have any other design suggestions on the best way to handle routing someone through a web application?

What you can do is create a servlet that initializes the mappings on startup...create a hashtable of mappings from a file. You'll have to parse the file, so you can either use XML and use a SAX parser, or your own format (name=path? ie. order=/order.jsp), which ever one is simpler for you to use.
To load the servlet on startup, you specify the load-on-startup parameter in the web descriptor, web.xml:
<servlet>
<servlet-name>MappingsLoader</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>packagename.MappingsLoader</servlet-class>
<load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
</servlet>
where load-on-startup number is the order in which it loads the servlet, 1 being first.
Then once you've created the hashtable, store it in servlet context.
When you want to forward something, just use a requestdispatcher object and the hashresult to forward the request to another web component (in this case, a jsp).

• Distribution of Model View in ALE

Hi Experts,
I am setting up an ALE distribution of application data during which i am facing a problem durin ste step
of "Distribution of Model View" .
I am getting an error RFC destination does not exist , though i have created my RFC destinarion and i checked it using "Test Connection" & "Remote Logon".
Please Suggest me.
Regards.
Shrikant.

Hi,
Follow these below steps for ALE configuration
Step1: Creation of Logical system u2013 Transaction BD54
Step 2: Assigning client to Logical System u2013 Transaction SCC4
Step 3: Creation of RFC destination u2013 Transaction SM59
Two RFC destination needs to be created u2013 one at the sender with the destination as the receiver, and another at the receiver with the destination as the sender.
Step 4: Port generation u2013 Transaction WE21 - Port is required for the outbound message type and hence port generation is required only at the sender.
Step 5: Creation of partner profile u2013 Transaction WE20
Both outbound and inbound partner profiles need to be created.
Step 5.1: Creation of outbound partner profile.
Step 5.2: Creation of inbound partner profile.
Step 6: Creation of Distribution Model u2013 Transaction BD64 - This needs to be done at the sender

• Filter in Distribution Model View

Hi,
I am sending HR master data to E-rec system using Distribution Model view.
Here i need apply filter for HRMD_A message type for field Pernr, here the condition is
only one employee data needs to be send, all other employees needs to be filtered.
The problems is as you know there might be thousands of employees (pernr ) which i cannot list out while setting filter.
Please suggest me solution for this.

Hi,
you can use BADI "IDOC_CREATION_CHECK" to Filter those Values and decide to create or not.

There is a bug in the spellchecking functionality when typing in the web view or while using Blogsy App. Why? Why my IPad crashes so often?

I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Your PL/SQL code doesn't produce a valid XML document.
In the XML grammar, "&" is a special character and must be escaped using the character entity "&".
If you were using standard methods to build XML from Oracle (SQL/XML functions for instance), I'm sure you wouldn't have this error.
Please show us the PL/SQL code you're using to produce this XML output and we'll be able to help you further.

• Read versions of comments field using javascript client object model

Hi,
Does someone knows how to Read versions of comments field in 'tasks' list using javascript client object model?
Thanks
Manvir

Hi,
According to your description, I know you want to read versions of comments field.
We can use the
SPServices to achieve it. The below code for your reference:
$().SPServices({
operation: "GetVersionCollection",
async: false,
strlistID: "tester",
strlistItemID: 1,
strFieldName: "comments",
completefunc: function (xData, Status) {
$(xData.responseText).find("Version").each(function(i) {
console.log("Name: " + $(this).attr("Information") + " Modified: " + $(this).attr("Modified"));

• How to get windows form object of a MMC snapin node using MMC automation object model

Hello,
I am using automation object model for an existing mmc file and just trying to traverse all nodes of it. And i am able to do so.
My query is : how can i get the access of windows form object of a particular node . Windows form is present in result pane of a node, i want to get access of that so that i can perform some automation on that form.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa815049(v=vs.85).aspx
I found that if OCX control is in result view of any node, then "view object -> control object property" returns
the automation interface supplied by the control in the result view.
However, if result view is HTML view then how to get the automation interface of that result
view.
Thanks in advance,
Sumit

Hi Sumit,
I read the link you provide above. It seems that when you want to achieve your target by using MMC automation
object model, you need to use codes. Based on the programming language, if use VB, I suggest you post the question in
VB Forum. If you want to use C#, may post in
C# Forum.
In addition, there is an answered question, may help you to find the correct forum.
MMC development forum?

Since, it’s more related to development. We may can’t provide some more detailed information. Thanks for your
understanding.
Hope this helps.

You will need custom code for this, but since the amount is minimal and this is Stack Overflow I assume that won't be a problem. You will want to make your own listview web part that queries the list using ListViewByQuery. An example can be found here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ramg/archive/2009/04/21/implementing-a-simple-cross-site-collection-list-view-webpart.aspx

• Which image viewer do you use/recommend?

At the moment i'm using Faststone Image Viewer (just for quick viewing of my finished images).
I was wondering if there are any other good image viewers that other Lightroom users use & would recommend?
I know i can search Google, but i haven't been able to find any other good ones. Perhaps other users have?
Ideally they would have the ability to zoom with the mouse wheel, and browse backwards and forwards through the images with the mouse buttons, but this is not an essential requirement here.

For what I consider to be general viewing, I simply use Lightroom. I know that Lightroom has a slideshow utility and various other features for looking at images. But, like you, I use Faststone Viewer to look at finished groups because it is a little faster (in my opinion), and I like to use their magnification feature. I also like to use FV to create executable slideshows for sharing and distribution under certain circumstances. I don't use it a lot, but I think it is a handy little utility to have available.
A lot of people like to use Picasa. I don't like it because it just seems to take over my computer and manages images in it's own way. And I don't like that at all. So I have left it alone completely.
Faststone Viewer certainly isn't something that is really necessary. But it is a handy little utility to have at times. And it's the right price, too.
