Creation of WS-iview

Hi Gurus,
This is with regards to creation web service ivew where we are calling the BAPI of SAP R3 which is exposed as web service.
We validated the webservice using WSNavigator of portal where it executing successfully by responding back with values for the request provided.
Where as while creating the system alias for creation ws iview it fails due to connection issue. Have provided the necessary parameters correctly even after it is failing while creating the ws iview.
Below is the wsdl url format
http://<sap Hostname>:<port>/sap/bc/soap/wsdl/?services=<Bapi_name>&sap-cient=<Client_no>
when I provide it in IE it pops up for the username and password and once sap username and pwd provided it displays the wsdl file.
How to provide the usrname and pwd in the system alias creation in portal?

Myself carried the steps provided above till step 3 i dont have any issues but in step 4 how can i find a user who maintains the backend access?
but i did the step 4 to step 6 for portal user id whihc i used to login it didnt work.
shows the below error while creation of WS iView
Error Occurred
Could not connect to back-end application. Check your system. The server may be down or there may be an error in a system parameter.

I'd be curious to know what SAP says. We have the same problem. Not sure how/if we broke it, but we can no longer create iviews using the wizard. I opened an OSS msg a while ago, but did not get much assistance.
We have recently upgraded to 2004s and it did not resolve the issue as I hoped it would.
If SAP provides a solution for you, please post it.

Creation of new iViews not possible because templates missing

Hello,
I do troubleshooting to this problem but still didn't found a solution. Before this problem came up an creation of iViews were possible. I'm not able to reproduce what was changed since then.
I'm using an NW04s Portal SP09:
If I try to create a new iView I get no selection of different iView templates. The step 1 of Template selection shows the message:
"No templates to display. You are not assigned to any existing templates."
I checked the template folder in PCD and found my role has access to it and to the templates objects. I gave me super_admin role but nothing changed. I think the problem is maybe a configuration issue or something with wrong access rights (security zones?).
Please, do someone know what I could check next?

Creation of Portal iview, with BSP on internal server, call portal external

Hi all,
folowing issue:
we have a test portal link with the internet via apache reverse proxy:
e.g. http://www.xxx.at/irj   is linked with http://cscinternal.csc.com:51000/irj
The portal can be started without any problem.
further we have a bsp applikation on an other internal SAP Server which can be reached with
http://cscinternal02.csc.com:8047.
the server is also listed in the apache reverseproxy list as   http://www.xxx.at/its
The bsp application link: http://www.xxx.at/its/sap/bc/bsp/sap/y_test_pdf_01/main.htm
can be reach via internet without any problem.
The bsp shows an radiobutton list + button, with the button one can show a list in an second window.
so, now i will call this bsp in an iview via portal
01. i tried the "URL iview", result: i can reach the html but on any action the side do nothing
02. i tried to config "iview BSP" BUT .... i have now idea what system i should put in,
     the second sap system is configured but there is the internal name in (i guess) ...
so i'm newbee in portal things, so i don't know where i can configure a system ...,
BUT beside this, PLEASE can anyone describe me how i can manage this internal BSP
in the portal to call it from external?

Hi Mike,
Try below steps to make sure your have proper connection between Portal and back end SAP system.
1) Create a system object , Enter required details for "Web Application Server" Properties with below two options
          A) Enter Direct SAP Server details
          Web AS Host Name : cscinternal02.csc.com:8047
          Web AS Path: /its/sap/bc/bsp/sap
          Web AS Protocol: http
         B) Enter apache reverseproxy
          Web AS Host Name : www.xxx.at/its
          Web AS Path:/sap/bc/bsp/sap
          Web AS Protocol: http
2) Create a Alias . Run the connection test for Web Application Server (WAS). Make sure connection tests are successfull
3) Create a BSP Iview ,
BSP Definition Type: Application
Selct System Alias
Customer Namespace: sap
Application NameSpace: sap
Business Server Page (BSP) Application: y_test_pdf_01
Start Page: main.htm

After your developers are done with the customization, they need to create a new FPM view (custom) and it to the service to which it belongs.
Post this, you need to create a web dynpro iview which calls this custom FPM view and displays to the end-user in Portal.

In Portal , iView of type WebService Not working.

I am working on O4s SP7,
I am trying an example where i want to access a web service using EP.
i have made the proxy settings that are required..
In system configuration , under Visual Composer i created a new Model from System Template of type Web Serice and gave the below url

I gave User Mapping Type as admin,user.
then when i test it it says,
Retrieval of default alias successful
Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct.
Can anyone tell me what might be the reason ?
i ignored it and gave that system an alias.
Then i went to Content development and under VC created a new Model of type Iview, again web service one ,gave some name, used the system alias as described above , and when i clicked next ,
it says "Could not connect to back-end application. Check your system. The server may be down or there may be an error in a system parameter."
Has any one faced this problem earlier ?

moved a little forward, created a system as follows.
System Administration, syste configuration , Visual composer, models and created a new system from template of type Web Service System using WSDL URL.
i used the followig URL

This can be done found right click iview->apply Template->XML iview u can find it there .
If you have doubts plaese refer the following link while cretion .
The main use of this xml iview is it provides an option for transporting the data from portals to differnt applications.

Transaction Iview is to navigate to required transaction eg se80 etc of backend ,it can be used for various purpose for eg to test weather SSO is properly configured or not if yes Transaction Iview should navigate user to mentioned transaction in the iview with out asking for user id and password.

Custom Wizards (using Wizard Framework)?

Is there a good resource out there that describes how one might go about creating a custom wizard (I suppose using SAP's Wizard Framework) to be used during creation of new iViews (of a particular portal archive)? I've been looking around, but haven't found much on the topic. I have looked at the URL iView code (which implements this framwork API), and it appears somewhat involved.

Quick Functions, export to Excel and variable screen pop up do not function

We have put the following in place in our environment.

Integrating into an SAP NetWeaver 2004 Portal (SAP EP 6.0).
The creation of the iview using the SAP BW Report iview template using version SAP NetWeaver BI (7.0) is successfull and the report is generated correctly. The problem occurs when we try to use the Quick Function - Export to Excel. At this point nothing happens. Another example is when we access the context menu and try to access the variable screen there are no popups. When the report is executed on our SAP EP 7.01 system the same reports functions properly. I am operating with all authorization so I believe this is not the issue. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Scheduled automatic upload of roles/user mapping from R/3 to EP6

EP6.0 offers a nice tool to upload roles together with the user mapping from an R/3 backend system to the portal. This works very well, but in an environment where the user mapping happens on the backend system this manual process has to be repeated to keep the user mapping up to date.
It would be very useful if this process could run in batch mode and could be scheduled. Does anyone has a solution for this problem?
The way the portal user administration is designed works maybe very good for small companies, but for large companies with many users a batch upload tool is really needed!
People from SAP have told me that they are thinking about such a tool, but the pressure from the customers is not high enough to put it on their project list. So maybe we can unite forces to increase pressure on SAP project management.

There are a few solutions for this problem and we are investigating some of them now:
- you can use an LDAP server. Transfer users and the groups to which they belong from the R3 system to LDAP. The groups correspond to the roles the users have. The portal can use the groups on the LDAP server. The portal roles have to be attached to the groups and not to the users.
- we are also thinking about writing a JAVA program that automizes the manual role upload that SAP delivers in the portal. The KM part of the portal contains a scheduler which can be used to schedule the upload of uesr mappings from R3 to the portal.
- you can also make an ABAP web service that is called from a program on the portal to transfer the usermapping. The program makes use of the UME API.
- Or you can make an ABAP program on R3 that calls a JAVA program on the portal that makes use of the UME API to store the user mapping on the portal.
your iview question:
Maybe you can change the default setting for the preferred GUI in the master iview that is used for the creation of the iviews. When you create a new iview the portal creates a delta link based on the master iview., so when you change the master iview all new created iview based on the master iview will have the correct setting immediately.

You can create webdynpro iviews in portal in two ways.
1) from iview template &
2) from webdynpro java applications.
If you create from the 1st one, you have to provide two parameters of the webdynpro application.
i) namespace
ii) application name
you can find these namespace & application name from content admin --> webdynpro --> open your webdynpro project > open the application. you will find two columns.
left side name is the namespace (eg: local/firstproject) & right side you will find application name.
If you create iview from 2nd menthod, the following is the link contains creation of webdynpro iview.
