Criteria with out Operator in af:Query

Hi,
We are using af:query in our application and our application uses POJO based data controls. It does not implement BC4J. Is it possible to display a critieria in af:query WITH OUT a criteria operator? For example we want City as on the criteria and we would not want display any criteria operator. The assumption is it should always be searched with Equals. If it is possible can some one let me know how to achieve this?

Yes. You assign a LOV definition to the attribute that then you display in the af:query component. You can also have dependnet LOV implemented this way. However, you cannot have a custom (your own) list of value popup dialog used

If the value is not of importance how come it became obligatory in your program?
Any how you can do one thing...Put some value in your obligatory field, put a debugger point where you are interested in and use the pencil tool to change the value of the field while debugging.

I know I can create a function but, I dont want to read the table everytime it is called. Knowing that Database sid is going to be constant for next couple of years.

If you are using SQL-Plus or Reports you can use lexical parameters like:
SELECT * FROM emp &condition;
When you run the query it will ask for value of condition and you can enter what every you want. Here is a really fun query:
SELECT &columns FROM &tables &condition;
But if you are using Forms. Then you have to change the condition by SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY.

Both Tod and Eric provided valid responses given the format of the queory you supplied. Howver, if you want to use dynamic sql in either way, you need to be absolutely certain that your query will always only return a single row (e.g. SELECT COUNT(*) FROM mytable), because if it retuns more than one, your procedure will break unless you have an exception handler to handle either TOO_MANY_ROWS or OTHERS.
If you want to pull in a lot of data without walking a cursor, you should look at the BULK COLLECT options.

Problem with the operator less than or equal to in a weby query

The universe is a OLAP Universe
When i created a query in webi and put the month in the filter area with the operator less than or equal to like this.
Month (less than or equal to) 2010.01 for example. The all result brings also the all values like 2010.02, 2010.03, etc
What is the problem and how can fix that ?

Looks like you are using a less than or equal to with a Sting data type.
I think you should change to your filter to Year <= 2010 And Month <= 1. Hope you have a month and year object in you BeX.

the Query output on the console.

You can do:
SET TERMOUT OFFIn your script before doing the spool command.
You will have to write your query as a .SQL script and run it from SQL*Plus in order for it to work the way you expect.
sqlplus -s username/password @query_script.SQL

Outer join with IN operator

Hi.
I have two folders in Discoverer 10.1.2. These folder are joined with outer join on detail table:
a.item1=b.item1(+)
When I use both Folders in the worksheet and then add a condition for example
b.item2 = 20, Discoverer generates SQL with the following conditions.
a.item1=b.item1(+)
b.item2 (+) = 20
That's OK. The problem is that I need to use IN operator in the conditions, i.e. somethink like this:
a.item1=b.item1(+)
b.item2 (+) IN (20,30,40)
This can be done in SQL using ANSI syntax:
LEFT JOIN table b ON a.item1=b.item1, b.item2 IN (20,30,40)
But I don't know how to achieve this in Discoverer Plus!
(without using Custom folders in Administartor)

I know about the possibility of creating Custom folder as you suggest. Unfortunately our customer doesn't like this solution, because the condition "IN (20,30,40) " will be useful only for one user. Others wants differnet values in that condition.
So using custom folder would mean to create many Custom folders in the EUL.
However I like the idea of using session parameters.
I'll try to create one Custom folder with session parameters. In the Plus there will be default value set on 20,30,40. So the current user can confirm this deafult value before the worksheet is run and future users can change parameters as they like.
Moreover there could be another solution. Session parameters could be set directly by a calculation, maybe. So we can create a special worksheet for each user and no parameters in Plus will be necessary.

How can we improve query performance with out indexes?

I have a problem with table(calc) which contain 3 crore records and table doesn't have index, on that table one of the view(View_A) created.
When i use the view in below query SELECT count(*)
FROM
Table A INNER JOIN Table B ON (A.a=B.b)
LEFT OUTER JOIN View_A ON ( Table A.a=View_A.a)
LEFT OUTER JOIN View_B ON (Table A.a=View_B.a)
In above query View_A is causing the problem, view_A is created on Calc table. One more thing when i execute select statement on the view it was running fine.
With out View_A query fetching data fine. Update stats of the table also fine. When i run cost plan for scanning only cost % is 90.
Can any help me please?.

Not sure what you are trying to do. But outer joins are bad for performance. So try to avoid them.
You also say that you have a view on a calc table. What are you calculating? Are you using user defined functions maybe?

The query contains a formula with the operator SUMCT

I m trying to get query ready for Webi, getting the error as 'The query contains a formula with the operator %RT. Therefore, the query cannot be released for OLE DB for OLAP'
I have not used any kind of s %GT, %RT, %CT, SUMGT, SUMRT, SUMCT and LEAF, also i have suppressed results / over results from the query, over to it, i have removed the calculate results as 'summation' feature and set to 'not defined' for all of my key figures.
Still getting the error...

Ensure that all Link IDs are visible in the lsdal.ini file located in the \Windows\system directory of the PAS Server as those are then available to all users. The lsdal.ini file may not be correctly updated if: - You have created the BI Link IDs while using PAS in Client Server Mode - You have enabled multi user access for remote desktop. In this case an additional lsdal.ini file may appear in the user specific Windows directory of someone who may have remotely connected to the system to create the Link ID. That additional lsdal.ini file will only be valid for that specific user.
Also try adding "ODBOSECURITY=0" entry to the end of the c:\windows\lsserver.ini file on the server.
