Critical Success Factors web services

Dear web services experts,
I am writing my master thesis business administration about web services (used as an integration technology). In order to determine the Critical Success Factors of web services implementations, I need your help. While web services is quite a new technology, less academic research has been done yet. So please... post some success factors! General success factors, as well as specific internal and external deployment success factors are welcome.
Thnx!

  • "Invalid text value" error when calling a web service from a workflow in SharePoint Online

    I'm trying to create a workflow that loops through a list in SharePoint Online using a REST web service call. However, I'm having
    some trouble trying to pass the authentication token as described in the following article.
    http://www.fabiangwilliams.com/2013/09/03/more-on-sharepoint-2013-r...
    Basically, the workflow stops right at the "Call web service" action, and the only error it tells me is the following.
    Invalid text value.
    A text field contains invalid data. Please check the value and try again
    Has anyone had success with web service calls to SharePoint Online?

  • WEB SERVICE PROXY GENERATED USING 11.1.1.5.0 WSDL FAILS WITH 11.1.1.6.0

    I have created a Web Service Proxy project in Jdev using BI Publisher 11.1.1.5.0 WSDL (ReportService). Generated ReportService_Service method uses following QName to get the port:
    namespaceURI = "http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/service/v2"
    localPart = "*v2/ReportService*"
    Reports are generated successfully via Web Services when using BI Publisher 11.1.1.5.0 but when I use BI Publisher 11.1.1.6.x, it fails with this exception:
    +'javax.el.ELException: javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: {http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/service/v2}v2/ReportService is not a valid port. Valid ports are: {http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/service/v2}ReportService'+
    I noticed that if the Web Service Proxy project is created using BI Publisher 1.1.1.1.6.0 WSDL (ReportService), the generated ReportService_Service method uses following QName to get the port:
    namespaceURI = "http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/service/v2"
    localPart = "*ReportService*"
    We are supporting both 11.1.1.5.0 and 11.1.1.6.x, so is there a way to make it work with both.
    FYI, I have tried removing v2 but then it only works with 11.1.1.6.0 and fails with 11.1.1.5.0.
    +Caused By: javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: {http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/service/v2}ReportService is not a valid port. Valid ports are: {http://xmlns.oracle.com/oxp/service/*v2}v2/*ReportService+

    Dear,
    found the solution (after trying last 1-2 days ...).
    I was already using java 1.7 update 7.
    I had to start java settings and to deselect Java 1.7.0_07.
    Instead I selected latest Java version from Apple: 1.6.0_35-b10-428.
    With these settings the installer finishes without crash.
    Kind regards

  • Creating a web service with XMLBeans

    Hello
    I have created an XML schema defining some complex types such as Person, Address, etc.. I use the Apache XMLBeans project (version 2.2.0) to automatically generate Java beans from my schema. I then populate these objects using standard accessors.
    I want to expose methods such as Find, Retrieve, etc.. as web services which return these XMLBean objects in the SOAP body.
    public PersonType findPerson(String p_surname)
    public AddressType retrieveAddress(String p_houseNumber, String p_postcode)
    I understand the fundamentals of web services and have successfully written web services from scratch using Apache Axis.
    I'm now using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4 and creating web services using the wizard. When stepping through the wizard I get to the part where you are asked to choose which methods of your class you wish to expose. In my case all the methods are greyed out. Now I believe this is because my methods are returning complex Java types (generated by XMLBeans) which themselves contain other complex types which have no serializers defined for them.
    Has anyone written a custom serializer for XMLBeans to work with JDeveloper/OC4J or know how to get started? Any other tips?
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    When you start the create WS wizard in SE80 you can choose what to base it on - an RFC, a BAPI or a function group.  If you choose function group you can then choose which modules within that function group to make available as operations.
    Hope this helps,
    Gareth.

  • Unable to Print a Web Services Information Sheet to Obtain a Claim Code

    I'm trying to add a HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP m276nw as an ePrint device.  I've successfully updated the printer firmware.  When I enable the web services the Print Information Sheet button appears, but nothing prints when I click it and I'm unable to obtain a claim code.
    I'm stuck.  I'm not sure where to go from here...
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    If you have successfully enable web services, you have a couple of options:
    1. use your IP address, input it into your web browser and browse to the embedded web page. Go to the web services tab and find the email address assigned to your printer. It should be something like [email protected] The printer code will be everything before the @ sign.
    2. Go to your control panel. Click on the web services icon (icon on the far left). Click on display email addres. Printer code will be everything before the @ sign.
    3. Print a configuration page. Tools icon - reports - config page. In the right column, locate HP Web Service (bottom right) - printer email address - printer code will be everything before the @ sign.
    Use the xxxxxx before the @ sign for the printer code to register the printer at HP Connected.

  • Creatin Web Service in NWDS 7.0 to handle WSDL from PI 7.1

    Hi all,
    I created in PI 7.1 a service interface in ESR with following details:
    Name:                         iaBillerDirect
    Namespace:               http://corpintra.net/pi/CBFC_GLOBAL_SAP_APPL/BillerDirect
    used message type:  BillerDirectMessage
    Operation:                  iaBillerDirect
    In NWDS 7.01 I first tried to build a web service based on the WSDL of the service interface. But unfortunately, NWDS does not have any possibility to create a web service based on a WSDL. (NWDS 7.1 has - but not NWDS 7.0)
    So I created an EJB on my own. Here I created a java class "net.corpintra.pi.cbfc_global_sap_appl.billerdirect.BillerDirectMessage" which I used as Datatype for new created EJB "net.corpintra.pi.cbfc_global_sap_appl.billerdirect.IaBillerDirect".
    I added a business method "iaBillerDirect(net.corpintra.pi.cbfc_global_sap_appl.billerdirect.BillerDirectMessage billerDirectMessage)" to my EJB and created a web service based on this.
    (The class Biller Direct Message has the same internal structure as the message type on PI.)
    When I delpoy the Web Service to the SAP J2EE 7.0 I can test the web service successfully in Web Service Navigator.
    When I now create according objects in PI Integration Builder and send a test message via PI to the web service I get following error:
    An error occurred while processing the message security. Reason: com.sap.engine.interfaces.webservices.runtime.OperationNotFoundException Found 0 operation definitions using keys: Key name:'first-body-element-ns' key value:'http://corpintra.net/pi/CBFC_GLOBAL_SAP_APPL/BillerDirect'; Key name:'SoapRequestWrapper' key value:'BillerDirectMessage'; . See trace entry no trace for com.sap.security.core.server.ws.service.ServerSecurityProtocol (severity above PATH).
    Can you please advice why I get this error trying to reach the web service via PI? How can I fix this?
    Or is there even a good solution how to create a web service in NWDS 7.0 (based on Eclipse 2.1.2) based on a WSDL?
    regards
    René

    Hi Jurmann,

    Thanks in advance

  • Consume a Web Service: No receiver could be determined

    Hello,
    I have a successful running Web Service on a JAVA stack. Now I want to consume this web service within the ABAP Stack. For this purpose I generated the appropriate proxy object from the WSDL.
    However, while running my ABAP test program I am receiving an error: RCVR_DETERMINATION.NO_RECEIVER_CASE_BE No receiver could be determined
    Does anybody know, what to do? Do I need to register the generated proxy somewhere? Or what went wrong?
    Best Regards!

    you dont need to do any settings in LPCONFIG
    just create client proxy and <b>activate</b> the proxy class
    then in LPCONFIG
    enter the client proxy name and port name (port name can be any text) and check the checkbox "default" and click create and activate the same.
    now you are ready to consume the webservice.

  • Add cookie to HTTP request header when calling web service

    I'm trying to call web service using JDeveloper 11g. I successfully generated web service proxy from WSDL document. I can successfully call this particular web service's method "login" which returns "session_id", which then needs to be inserted as a cookie in the HTTP request header in later calls to other methods. This is how the HTTP request header should look like:
    POST /webservice HTTP/1.1
    Host: registrar.carnet.hr
    Connection: Keep-Alive
    User-Agent: .hr domene
    Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8
    SOAPAction: "https://registrar.carnet.hr/webservice#get_domain_name"
    Content-Length: 532
    Cookie: session_id=f3po0ba01a47gd64792151ee43a25765;
    How can this be accomplished? There is not much code that I wrote, everything is generated by JDeveloper's wizard...
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    RegistrarServicePortPortClient client =
    new RegistrarServicePortPortClient();
    client.setPortCredentialProviderList();
    // add your code here
    String login;
    login = client.login("username", "password");
    System.out.println(login);
    String myCookie = "session_id="+login;
    System.out.println(myCookie);
    *// what can be done to add myCookie to the HTTP request header?*
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    Thanks in advance,
    Bruno

  • Consume XI Web Services

    Hi,
    I have succesfully managed to use Web Services exposed via WSADMIN/WSCONFIG in Visual Composer. However, now I would like to consume Web Services from XI. The problem is that there is no WSDL URL. I only have a SOAP channel URL and then the WSDL in file format. Can I create a model based on a WSDL file (no URL)?
    Anybody who has successfully consumed Web Services via XI. Please share you experience with the rest of us.
    Thanks!
    /Elvez

    Hi Elvez,
    You copy WSDL files in a path of a server similar to the following one (in linux):
    /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/j2ee/<your_directory>
    In the Visual Administrator --> Service <i>HTTP Provider</i> --> Create new "Alias" for your directory.
    In the Visual Composer:
    Write the following WSDL URL:
    http://<server>:<portJ2EE>/<your_alias>/file.wsdl
    thanks

  • Web Services with Authentication - User Name and Password.

    How to create a web service and web service client where the need is to authenticate using SOAP Header based authentiacation. The authentication is to be based on UserName and Password in the SOAP Header.
    Regards

    Dear Pierluigi Vernetto
    What is meant when they say to include SOAPHeader with the parameters UserName, Password for Authentication. How this type of authentication is done.Can you please provide some code snipped to facilitate. I am new to the web services and did successfully a web service generation and client generation using WSDL.
    WSDL Snippet :
    - <wsdl:operation name="RegisterService">
    <soap12:operation soapAction="http://www.abc.com/webservices/RegisterService" style="document" />
    - <wsdl:input>
    <soap12:body use="literal" />
    <soap12:header message="tns:RegisterServiceAuthenticate_Info" part="Authenticate_Info" use="literal" />
    </wsdl:input>
    - <wsdl:output>
    <soap12:body use="literal" />
    </wsdl:output>
    </wsdl:operation>
    - <wsdl:types>
    - <s:schema elementFormDefault="qualified" targetNamespace="http://www.abc.com/webservices/">
    - <s:element name="RegisterService">
    - <s:complexType>
    - <s:sequence>
    - <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="InputText">
    - <s:complexType>

    </s:sequence>
    </s:complexType>
    </s:element>

    </s:complexType>
    </s:element>
    - <s:element name="RegisterServiceResponse">
    - <s:complexType>
    - <s:sequence>
    - <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="RegisterServiceResult">
    - <s:complexType>
    - <s:sequence>
    <s:any />
    </s:sequence>
    </s:complexType>
    </s:element>
    </s:sequence>
    </s:complexType>
    </s:element>
    <s:element name="Authenticate_Info" type="tns:Authenticate_Info" />
    - <s:complexType name="Authenticate_Info">
    - <s:sequence>
    <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="UserName" type="s:string" />
    <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="Password" type="s:string" />
    </s:sequence>
    <s:anyAttribute />
    </s:complexType>
    If i simply create the web service using the WSDL , will the Authenticate_Info will be taken care of.
    What needs to be done for the Client side .jsp code and how this information of UserName and Password will be passed while making the call to the web service.

  • Cannot test web service

    Hello,
    In jdeveloper 10.1.3.1 I created a simple stateless session bean with one method.
    I exposed the method through Web Service Endpoint interface and created ejb-jar deploy profile.
    I can successfully deploy produced ear file to oc4j (at deploy time all descriptors for the web service are created).
    Web service is working and I can test it through oc4j console application.
    Problem is the same procedure is not working in jdeveloper/oc4j version 10.1.3.3 and 10.1.3.4.
    Ear is successfully deployed, web service is created and available inside the application but I cannot test it. I see "The page cannot be displayed" instead of web service tester page.
    Do you have any suggestions?

    Hi,
    finally I found where the problem was: url of web service in tester was wrong. I don't know why and who changed it (it is generated by console application).

  • Inserting Opportunities via web services

    We have 2 sales processes defined for our business, when using the insert method on opportunities we are only able to successfully insert opportunities who use sales stages from the default sales process. Any time we try to insert an opportunity using a sales stage from the other process we get a bounded picklist violation
    Has anyone been able to successfully insert web services via web services ?
    Did you encounter anything similar to this ?

    Unlike the UI, you need to explicitly identify the Sales Process in your Opportunity call.

  • Lov list from Web Service in ADF pages

    Hi We have successfully created web service data control and bind them to the field to get the LOV list.
    Now the requirement is that
    when the user goes to the next screen we dont want to retive the date again from DB, But i want the same LOV list which i received first time.
    In short we want the same LOV list until the process end which has n number of screens. we don't want the fresh list every time the screen comes up.

    Hi,
    in this case you don't use the WebService Data Control but a WebService proxy client and then a wrapper in front of it. This way the wrapper POJO can cache the data for as long as you need it. The wrapper POJO is then exposed as a JavaBean data control (building the select list is thenthe same as with the WS DC). The wrapper POJO exposes a method that returns a collection (List) of values. On each query for the LOV the wrapper pojo checks if it already contains data - and if so - returns existing data. The wrapper POJO can expose a method or flag for you to indicate that it should re-fetch data from a web service

    Hello,
    Dont think you can use custom message classes in RFC's. Try using a generic message and check if the message is being populated.

  • Nyone who had success using sign-encrypt policy(oracle web service manager)

    Hi All,
    I could not succeed in using sign Message and Encrypt and decrypt and verify signature policy using oracle web services manager.So I would be grateful if somebody who had success in using it would shed light on its use.
    Basically,I am using the following policy steps in securing a helloworld web service using gateway(oracle web services manager) :
    1)for Request (Decrypt and Verify signature).
    2)for Response(Sign Message and Encrypt).
    The configuration for Request is shown below:
    Pipeline "Request"
    Pipeline Steps:
    Start Pipeline
    Log
    Decrypt and Verify Signature
    Basic Properties Type Default Value
    Enabled (*) boolean true true
    XML Decryption Properties Type Default Value
    Decryptor''s keystore location (*) string C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\xws-security\etc\server-keystore.jks
    Decrypt Keystore Type (*) string jks jks
    Decryptor''s keystore password string *******
    Decryptor''s private-key alias (*) string s1as
    Decryptor''s private-key password string *******
    Enforce Encryption (*) boolean true true
    XML Signature Verification Properties Type Default Value
    Verifying Keystore location (*) string C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\xws-security\etc\server-truststore.jks
    Verifying Keystore type (*) string jks jks
    Verifying Keystore password string *******
    Signer''s public-key alias (*) string xws-security-client
    Enforce Signing (*) boolean true true
    End Pipeline
    And the configuration for Response is shown below:
    Pipeline "Response"
    Pipeline Steps:
    Start Pipeline
    Log
    Sign Message and Encrypt
    Basic Properties Type Default Value
    Enabled (*) boolean true true
    Signing Properties Type Default Value
    Signing Keystore location (*) string C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\xws-security\etc\server-keystore.jks
    Signing Keystore Type (*) string jks jks
    Signing Keystore password string *******
    Signer''s private-key alias (*) string s1as
    Signer''s private-key password string *******
    Signed Content (*) string BODY BODY
    Sign XPATH Expression string
    Sign XML Namespace string[]
    Encryption Properties Type Default Value
    Encryption Keystore location (*) string C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\xws-security\etc\server-truststore.jks
    Encrypt Keystore Type (*) string jks jks
    Encryption Keystore password string *******
    Decryptor''s public-key alias (*) string xws-security-client
    Encrypted Content (*) string BODY BODY
    Encrypt XPATH Expression string
    Encrypt XML Namespace string[]
    End Pipeline
    But I am getting the following fault exception while accessing this secure web service :
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    <faultcode "http://schemas.oblix.com/ws/2003/08/Faults">c</faultcode>
    <faultstring>Step execution failed with an exception
    </faultstring>
    <detail></detail>
    </SOAP-ENV:Fault>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    I would appreciate your help.Thanks.

    Hi clemens,
    Actually I installed OracleWebServices_Manager_4_0_3 and I see my installation directory does not contain any of the directory structure you mention.
    It installed oracle web services manager in the following location:
    C:\coresv_install_home
    and it contains the following subdirectories:
    1)bin
    2)config
    3)db
    4)ears
    5)external
    6)extlicences
    7)lib
    8)samples
    9)scripts
    10)wars
    So I like to ask did you install the same version of the oracle web services manager, if not which version you install in which security is working for you.Thanks for any help.
