Cross domain requests from jsp

how to configure tomcat 5.5.x to allow cross domain requests from jsp.
Its very urgent for me. How to allow cross domain request from XMLHttpRequest. please mail me solution [email protected]
Thanks in advance
suresh

For cross domain requests from JSP, you can normally use standard java code (URLConnection etc.) or a tag like <c:import url="..."/> (see JSTL: http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/jstl/1.1/docs/tlddocs/index.html)
XMLHttpRequest has nothing to do with Tomcat or JSP, it's a Javascript object, and it denies cross domain requests by design.
There are some workarounds, one of them is to send the XMLHttpRequest to the server and let the server do the cross domain requesting, for example like above.

  • ReportViewer & IReportServerCredentials WORKS within Domain; FAILS with Cross-Domain request:HTTP status 401: Unauthorized

    The IReportServerCredentials approach with the ReportViewer control is working fine within a domain, but I get a 401 not authorized error for a Web IIS server trying to call a SSRS server in another domain. I've see plenty of helpful postings on the use
    of IReportServerCredentials but nothing that provides suggestions for this cross domain issue. Hope someone has some ideas on this one. Thanking you in advance for your response.
    Using VS 2008 VB.NET web app with ReportViewer control Version=8.0.0.0.
    Outside domainA Web Server IIS 8. OS = Windows NT 6.2;
    Inside domainA Windows 7 desktop; Inside domainA Windows Server 2003
    SSRS using windows authentication and on SQL Server 2012. OS = Windows NT 6.2
    The processing described below successfully produces a report when the web server app runs on a machine in the same domain as the SSRS server. For the "same domain" web app, both Win 7 desktop VS 2008 development server and Windows 2003 IIS 6 have
    been tested successfully.
    The report fails with error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: not authorized " when the web app is run from a windows IIS 8 machine (outward or Internet facing web server) that is not in the domain of the SSRS server. The ReportViewer control
    credentials (provided by IReportServerCredentials and taken from the web.config file) match a domain account in the same domain as the SSRS
    server and one that has browser permission on the report folder. The same credentials are used successfully for reports requested from within the SSRS domain.
    One interesting thing is that on the Internet facing web server, I can access the report via a browser request. So it is possible to have a user request coming from the Internet facing machine get through the SSRS windows authentication. Just does not
    work for the ReportViewer.
    Using IReportServerCredentials interface per example provided by Microsoft msdn site. Code listed below.
    IReportServerCredentials would appear to be a viable approach because it can pass credentials of a windows account known to the SSRS server, but not known to the client machine. By the way, database calls to SQL Server in domainA using a SQL Server
    native login account work fine. So the network support communication to a domain that the web server does not belong to.

    I got the answer to my question by following suggestions by Irb on another technical forum.
    From web server (not on same domain), I was passing credentials of a domain account on the SSRS server. Irb suggested I create a local account on the SSRS server and pass those credentials. I tried this but got the same results.
    This approach worked for web server in SSRS domain, but failed with 401 Unauthorized for web server outside the SSRS domain. Per suggestion for local account on SSRS server, I tried passing empty string "" as the domain via IReportServerCredentials.
    Again this works for web server in the same domain as SSRS. But I get the 401 Unauthorized error when the web server is outside the domain. In testing and checking similar posts, I discovered an additional piece was required for the report request to work
    across domains. The default user did not have authority to send the request and/or receive the report. Adding the following in <system.web> section of web.config file was needed.
    <identity impersonate="true" userName="localwindowsuser" password="#########"/>          where "localwindowsuser" is a windows user defined on the web server.
    I never needed this extra piece when the web server ran in the same domain as the SSRS server. I thank Irb for making me go through the details of additional tests because that is how I stumbled across an identity comment and ultimately got things working.

  • There appears to be a persistent connection limit of 2 for cross domain requests

    I am building a service that allows anybody to add real-time push updates to their website or web application. To do this I'm using the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header response from a cloud hosted server.
    When establishing a connection we create one persistently connected HTTP connection and use a second connection to send requests (subscriptions/commands).
    The problem I'm seeing looks very similar to the old 2 socket to a server connection limit (related to about:config "network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server").
    Is there a limitation on the number of persistent cross domain connections that can be established from a single Firefox process? If so, where is the configuration options to override this?
    This problem can be easily duplicated by going to the following page in two tabs within the same Firefox process:
    http://kwwika.com/Standalone/Demos/WorldCup2010/
    You will notice that one page connects and starts to receive updates. The second will not connect until you close the first tab/page.
    I'd like to be able to provide feedback to the users of Kwwika about this problem so any information you can provide me with would be very much appreciated.

  • How can i pass the olde request from jsp to RH?

    i get to jsp page from requset handler A and in the jsp page i use request.get.. to display information on the screen.
    the problem is that in case that the user press on lunguage link it send u to REQUEST handler B that do some jobs and than return you to the same page but now the page dosnt work because the old request is lost and when he get into the line request.get it falls.
    so any one know how to forward the old request to the request handler without putting the old request in the session???
    i understand that in case that u display data to the user forward dosnt work so here begin the problem.

    If I understand you correctly, you build a page based on a request. The page loads and the user makes another request. In processing this second request, the user should be returned to the same page, right? This tends to happen a lot in web apps.
    The model we use is to have a PageModel instance for each page in the application which contains each of the datamodels needed by the JSP. We also have a method responsible for building that PageModel from data contained in the request/session.
    If you set up a PageModel for the page you want to return to you can set this into the session and when you second request comes to build the page, you can either build the page from the new request or use the one stored in the session or a combination of the two.
    The advantage of this is to make getting values from the request cleaner and the building of pages somewhat easier, just a series of pageModel.set...() methods before the jsp does pageModel.get...().

  • Forwarding request from JSP/Servlet to EJB

    Is it possible to forward the HttpRequest,HttpResponse objects from a Servlet/JSP to an Entity/Session bean ?
    ie To forward the call using RequestDispatcher/forward to a Session bean which in turn calls the entiy bean for updating DB
    Ramesh

    I don't think that's possible and even if it is there's an easier way. Normally you just create an instance of the session bean in a servlet and pass it the information. The session bean then calls the entity bean which updates the database. You don't have to forward the request - just pass the data to the bean.

  • Third-party JS Libraries and XHR cross-domain requests

    Hello,
    I am running into issues while developping a Windows Store app implementing the Jabber javascript SDK. This jquery-based SDK allows you to connect to a Cisco communication server to send/receive messages between users and share presence states.
    The problems I am having is that the SDK attempts to send a request (for the connection) to the communication server using XHR javascript function and Visual Studio throws me an Javascript Access Denied error that I can't get passed even trying to add the
    URL of the server in the whitelist manifest (because it is not an HTTPS uri and the manifest won't take the HTTP uri).
    What would you suggest to perform what I am trying to do within a Windows 8 Store app? How come I cannot add an HTTP uri into the manifest whitelist? Have you already had to deal with the Jabber SDK in such an environment?
    Thank you very much for your help,
    Kind regards.

    Hi Clement,
    This issue may caused by the compatibility between store app and Jabber javascript SDK. Since Jabber is a third-party library and it is out of our support range. I would recommend you post this question on Jabber discussion forum.

  • Cross-Domain Scripting in OC4J

    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone could help us find a way to enable cross-domain requests on our OC4J container.
    We're working on version 10.13.40!
    We would like to expose our web services to other applications inside our organisation (which operate from another url). We would also like to expose them to localhost since we are using them to test our application on our local machines.
    If anyone has any more information on this topic, please let us know!
    Thanks in advance!
    Maarten

    I didn't exactly get you
    Let me explain my problem. I am trying to access a BI Publisher's web service from outside the domain. My BI Publisher is hosted on OC4J. When I call this web service from inside the domain I get the expected response.
    The header of the response does not have Access-Control-Allow-Origin parameter in it. When I run the same code from outside, the status of my XMLHttpRequest object (my browser is mozilla) is set to 0 which means that the server is rejecting my call and I assume this is because this call is made from a place outside the domain.
    I have learned that Access-Control-Allow-Origin parameter controls the script requests which come from a place outside the domain
    I want to know a mechanism to set Access-Control-Allow-Origin parameter in OC4J. I searched the documentation and this parameter is not mentioned. Is the name of this parameter different in OC4J. If so what is it and where is it.
    Thanking you in anticipation of your help

  • Using JSONscriptRequest for cross domain calls?

    Hi,
    Looking through the REST SDK I see mention of the "JSONscriptRequest class" but I don't find much else about it.
    Is this a jsonp callback and how can it be used?
    Thanks

    Hi Willem,
    I've never heard of this "JSONscriptRequest class", but as far as I know, the REST SDK doesn't support JSONP callbacks or JSONP in general.
    For cross domain request, you'll find CORS settings on your WebApplicationContainer Server settings page in the CMC, but I'm not sure how / if they work.
    Hope that helps.

  • Maximum size of upload file using Cross Domain Library

    Hi All
    I need to know what is the maximum size of file that I can upload using Cross Domain Library from my Provider hosted app. I know that in msdn it is written that usign REST call we can upload upto 2GB but I have doubts if it is true with Cross domain library
    REST Calls. Please suggest.
     spExecutor.executeAsync(
                                   url: fileCollectionEndpoint,
                                   method: "POST",
                                   contentType: "application/json;odata=verbose",
                                   body: filedata,
                                   binaryStringRequestBody: true,
                                   headers: { "X-RequestDigest": $("#__REQUESTDIGEST").val(), "accept": "application/json;odata=verbose" ........
    And Can I pass ArrayBuffer directly or I need to pass only binary string ?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to know the Maximum size of upload file using Cross Domain Library.
    Per my knowledge, you can upload files up to 2 GB with the REST API.
    You can refer to:
    How to: Upload a file by using the REST API and jQuery
    In addition, you can pass ArrayBuffer directly. Please refer to:
    FileCollection methods

  • Cross domain REST API CSOM using JavaScript

    I have the following scenario:
    1) Upon create/update of the list item in https://teams.comp.com/sites/grpSite/Lists/Products
    2) I need to create the corresponding list imte in https://secureteams.comp.com/sites/grpSiteMain/Lists/Products.
    I have contribute rights on both sites and able to create/update via UI. However, to achieve automation I need to use REST API on create/update form for #1, so that it updates automatically. I have tried using REST API but it is failing, I have tried with
    SP.RequestExecutor with token but I think that is for app only.
    I need to do it for one site collection to other site collection without using the app. Please let me know how it can be done.

  • Load XML file from addon domain without cross-domain Policy file

    Hello.
    Assuming that there are two addon domains on the same server: /public_html/domain1.com       and      /public_html/domain2.com
    I try to load XML file from domain2.com into domain1.com without using cross-domain policy file (since it doesn’t work on xml files in my case).
    So the idea is to use php file in order to load XML and read it back to flash.
    I’ve found an interesting scripts that seems to do the job but unfortunately I can't get it to work. In my opinion there is somewhere problem with AS3 part. Please take a look.
    Here are the AS3/PHP scripts:
    AS3 (.swf in www.domain1.com):
    // location of the xml that you would like to load, full http address
    var xmlLoc:String = "http://www.domain2.com/MyFile.xml";
    // location of the php xml grabber file, in relation to the .swf
    var phpLoc:String = "loadXML.php";
    var xml:XML;
    var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(phpLoc+"?location="+escape(xmlLoc) );
    loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onXMLLoaded);
    loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onIOErrorHandler);
    loader.load(request);
    function onIOErrorHandler(e:IOErrorEvent):void {
        trace("There was an error with the xml file "+e);
    function onXMLLoaded(e:Event):void {
        trace("the rss feed has been loaded");
        xml = new XML(loader.data);
        // set to string, since it is passed back from php as an object
        xml = XML(xml.toString());
        xml_txt.text = xml;
    PHP (loadXML.php in www.domain1.com):
    <?php
    header("Content-type: text/xml");
    $location = "";
    if(isset($_GET["location"])) {
        $location = $_GET["location"];
        $location = urldecode($location);
    $xml_string = getData($location);
    // pass the url encoded vars back to Flash
    echo $xml_string;
    //cURLs a URL and returns it
    function getData($query) {
        // create curl resource
        $ch = curl_init();
        // cURL url
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $query);
        //Set some necessary params for using CURL
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
       //Execute the curl function, and decode the returned JSON data
        $result = curl_exec($ch);
        return $result;
        // close curl resource to free up system resources
        curl_close($ch);
    ?>

    I think you might be right about permissions/settings on the server for php. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to adjust them.
    So I wrote my own script - this time I used file path instead of http address of the XML file.  It works fine in my case.
    Here it is:
    XML file on domain2.com:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <gallery>
        <image imagePath="galleries/gallery_1/images/1.jpg" thumbPath="galleries/gallery_1/thumbs/1.jpg" file_name= "1"> </image>
        <image imagePath="galleries/gallery_1/images/2.jpg" thumbPath="galleries/gallery_1/thumbs/2.jpg" file_name= "2"> </image>
        <image imagePath="galleries/gallery_1/images/3.jpg" thumbPath="galleries/gallery_1/thumbs/3.jpg" file_name= "3"> </image>
    </gallery>
    swf  on domain1.com:
    var imagesXML:XML;
    var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
    var varURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("MyPHPfile.php");
    varURL.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
    varURL.data = variables;
    var MyLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader;
    MyLoader.dataFormat =URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;
    MyLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, XMLDone);
    MyLoader.load(varURL);
    function XMLDone(event:Event):void {
        var imported_XML:Object = event.target.data.imported_XML;
        imagesXML = new XML(imported_XML);
       MyTextfield_1.text = imagesXML;
       MyTextfield_2.text = imagesXML.image[0].attribute("thumbPath");  // sample reference to attribute "thumbPath" of the first element
    php file on domain1.com:
    <?php
    $xml_file = simplexml_load_file('../../domain2.com/galleries/gallery_1/MyXMLfile.xml');  // directory to XML file on the same server
    $imported_XML = $xml_file->asXML();
    print "imported_XML=" . $imported_XML;
    ?>
    Regards
    PS: for those who read the above discussion: the first and the second script work but you must test which one is better in your situation. The first script will also work between two domains on different servers. No cross domain policy file needed.

  • MAKING TWO REQUESTS FROM A JSP AND HANDLING TWO RESPONSE ????????

    Hi,
    I have a requirement like below.
    When a user clicks on download_pdf link on a web page, he should get the pdf data from the server where at the same time he should be shown with a processing window. Say the time taking for hitting the server and getting the response is 10 sec, the processing window should be shown for 10 sec and immediately it has to close.
    My approach :
    From JSP having download_pdf link :: while onClick I am calling an action which is nothing but a servlet call which will take care of getting the pdf data from the server and shown pdf save,cancel window. Other part is onClick I added a javascript function call which will open a seperate window (nothing but a jsp ) showing the processing icon.
    The problem here is, I can not close the window immediately after we get the response from the servlet.
    As we can not have direct communication between two responses(servlet reponse and processing window jsp) I am not able to close the window.
    My trials to close the processing window JSP :
    I tried to write a javascript in the processing window jsp which will be closed after 10 sec using setTimeout() funtion. But here the problem is the window will be closed after 10 sec where even if servlet call response takes 20 sec.
    Please suggest me if I need to do any design change ?
    Can I use any context attributes to come out of this ?
    What would be the best design for this ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    V.Narayana.

    Thanks for the idea.. I am trying to implement that.. Can you please let me know how Can I make a repetitive ajax call ??
    If anyone interested in code, I am pasting all the sample files I prepared for..
