CRVS2010 Beta - help setting embedded field programatically

I have a report where the details section spits out names that come from two fields: FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME.
They are displayed in a textobject with embedded fields []. I need to highlight only the last name if it equals "Smith." I have accomplished this by right-clicking the and "Format Embedded Field" and next to the underline checkbox write a formula that says:
IF {REPORTS.LASTNAME} = "SMITH" THEN
True
My question is, how can I set this formula programatically? I need "SMITH" to be a variable set by the vb.net program. I cannot figure out how to reference an embedded field within a textobject.
thanks.
Updated the subject accordingly

Thanks for taking my question. I am using VS 2010, and the CR and assemblies that came standard with it, 14.0.2.
Meantime I came up with a workaround:
I created a new input parameter called LASTNAME_IN and I can set that programatically. Then I modified the formula to read:
IF {REPORTS.LASTNAME} =  {?LASTNAME_IN} THEN
True
and this functions as I wish. However this is incredibly manual  (I have to go back and add this parameter to each and every report) and it would be much easier to just be able to reference in the program.
thanks again.

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Help with parameters

Could somone help:  I have created a CR which uses two static parameter fields for 'DateFrom' and 'DateTo' on the report.  The parameters are passed to an ASP.NET web page via a query string, and then I use Dim Fromdate As String = Request.QueryString("from") etc to send the parameter via code.  The problem I'm having is this.  The DateFrom and DateTo values are being sent to the report ( I simply use them in the report header to display the from and to dates selected by the user for the report ) and the report display's as expected.  But when you click 'Next' in the multipage report, the report prompts with a parameter popup box to reenter the dates.  Once you enter the values, you can page back and forth without any more interuptions.   Note:  I'm using Visual Studio 2010 with the latest install of crystal report's for VS 2010.
Would anyone know what I have set wrong?  Here is the code that I use to populat the report.

For those interested, I figured out what was happening.  There is a new question  added to the parameter property's when adding/editing report parameters called "Show On Viewer Panel".  This needs to be set to "DO NOT SHOW" to disable the prompts for passed in via code.

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Help Wanted for VS2010 and CR!

I have been having a hard time getting CR to appear in the VS2010 Ultimate toolbox. I have set the target to Framework 4.0 and installed the CR4VS2010 program but the CR viewer is not showing.
The problem is worsened by the fact that I am new to CR anyway.
I really have been banging my head against a brick wall.
Is there anyway to check the actual installation of CR? The Control Panel says 2008 was installed. Are there any tips about VS2010 and CR working?
Also are there any books about VS2010 and CR? I saw a lot of CR books but there were not about VS2010.
    Thanks.

Solution: re-installed cr4VS2010 and then checked Control Panel to ensure Crystal Reports 2010 was installed. The installation is very long and I think before it had not fully installed as especially the progress bar shows 100% but the installing continues.

  • CRVS2010 beta - Date field from database does not display in report

Hi there - can someone please help?!
I am getting a problem where a date field from the database does not display in the report viewer (It displays on my dev machine, but not on the client machines...details given below)
    I upgraded to VS 2010
I am using the CRVS2010 Beta
My development machine is Windows 7 - and so is my fellow developer's
We are using Microsoft SQL Server 2000
We run the queries within VS and then we send the data table to VS using .SetDataSource
We have a few reports which display the date on our dev machines (whether we run the EXE or from within Visual Studio)
When we roll out to the client machines (running Windows XP SP3) then everything works, except that the date does not display (on quite a few reports)
This is the only real issue I have had - a show stopper for me
The rest works well - any input will be greatly appreciated
    Regards,
    Ridwan

    Hi Ridwan,

  • CRVS2010 Beta - Sporadic "This field name is not known. Details: errorKind"

I am running CRVS2010 Beta 2 on the VS2010 trial version. I have been converting reports to this new version, but sometimes I get the error:
This field name is not known. Details: errorKind Error in File XX11X1 {1X1111X1-1XX1-1X1X-111X-11111111X11X}.rpt: Error in formula tot-appr: '{@commited0}+{XX11X.AMT1} + {XX11X.AMT2} + {XX11X.AMT3} + {XX11X.AMT4} + {XX11X.AMT_FUT} ' This field name is not known. Details: errorKind
I have done a lot of searching on this forum, Google, and Bing, but it seems everyone who receives this error message has just created the report or moved it to a new database, and the error is caused by a mis-pointed formula. I don't have that problem: in my case, the report usually works.
I have tried querying the Oracle database immediately after receiving this error, and all the fields mentioned do exist, exactly where they ought to. The problem never exists when logging on with my own account, and sometimes works when logging on with other accounts, but I have not figured out a way to predict whether it will work or not.
I have four reports I am running: one always works, two get this sort of error sometimes, and one (which is formatted differently) always shows up without errors, but is sometimes inexplicably blank. I cannot figure out in what way the report that always works is different from the two with this error (aside from obvious issues of layout and querying different tables, I mean).
I'm at a loss for where to look next. I know this information won't be enough as-is, but I hope that your clarifying questions can help me find the error.
    Thank you for your consideration.
EDIT: changed database names in case I get in trouble for revealing proprietary information, even though I don't think it's likely

    Hello,
Are you using a data Set? I believe the System.Data.OracleClient is the .NET Oracle client but not sure and not sure how reliable it is or what it's based on.
What happens if you create a new report using the DataDirect OLE DB provide or Oracles OLE DB provide or use CR Oracle native driver?
In the Connection Wizard select Oracle, that's the native driver, then when set log on info you just specify the Server name, User and PW, leave the database blank.
Then what API's are you using to connect/set the log on info?
I'm guessing that the error you are getting is likely an indexing problem in the table names etc. but not sure. if you search in this forum on "crlogger.dll" you could enable our database logging component and it may give you more info on what the cause is.
    Thank you

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with a QuickTime program file there.
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "QuickTime" and then click "Repair".
Does the repair go through okay? If so, are you able to launch iTunes and/or Safari now?

  • CRVS2010 Beta - embedded report not showing

I have a large number of reports which I have written for a client over the years with various versions of Crystal (starting with V5 I think).
Currently they are running Crystal Enterprise X but have made the decision that they wish to shift to Visual Studio.
I have been attempting to cut my teeth on re-writing reports in Visual studio and am struggling.  I then decided to port the existing crystal reports across from the Enterprise environment to Visual Studio.
I have the CRVS2010 Beta installed with the 64-bit runtime on a Server 2008 platform.
I have testing simpler Crystal Reports within Visual Studio (File | New | Project | Crystal Reports Application) and the simplest seem to publish with no difficulty.
However I have just attempted to bring a report containing a sub-report and while the end result seemed to publish fine with no errors, only the main report output shows when the published Visual studio application is run.
I haven't been able to find anything on this in the forum, so would greatly appreciate it if anyone can offer some assistance.
Slightly off-topic, I have noted that when the Crystal Report is imported into the Visual Studio designer the database seems to get dropped.  I then have to reconnect via ODBC and re-select the tables after which things seem to run fine.  Is this to be expected ?
    Many thanks

I have been checking further on this issue.
If I take the report in a fully functional state saved out of Crystal X and import it into the Visual Studio 2010 environment, the functionality of the subreport appears compromised.
Out of interest (and remembering that the report has been upgraded from Crystal X) I located the Crystal component in the Visual Studio project folder and opened it within Crystal X.  The subreport now no longer runs under the original Crystal X report writer.
Something appears to have happened between Crystal X and CRVS2010 Beta.
I'll have a look and see if I can identify what has happened to it.

  • CRVS2010 Beta 2 - "Database Logon failed" Error, after Upgrade

    Hi,
Generally: we are using the Crystal Reports in combination with a DataSet, that is filled during runtime and pushed to the report, using "SetDataSource". The Project is an ASP .NET 3.5 Project, published on our server.
I upgraded my development-machine to CRVS2010 (installed both packages - the CRVS for VS 2010 and the runtime) last week and changed some fields in the Report. The DataSet was left unchanged. Everything is working well on my development-machine, but when I publish the Project to our server, I get an "Databse Logon failed" Error, when I want to create my Report. The CRVS2010 Beta 2 redist Runtime is installed on our server. Here is the code, we use:
    // create new Report
    var report = new Reports.repMyReport();
// DataSource ds was filled correctly (we checked with export to XML
    report.SetDataSource(ds);
// Set several Parameters to Report
    report.SetParameterValue("test", "test");
// Export Report to PDF-Format and open in Browser
    report.ExportToHttpResponse(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, Response, false, "reportName.pdf");
    Response.End();
    The error I get is:

I already tried everything, found googling the web and/or searching this forum:
e.g.: perform "verify Database" on all Reports and map the DataSet.xsd again to the Report
Is that a known issue on the Beta and we should wait for the RC, or does anyone have an idea how to fix that one?
    This error is really annoying!
    Many thanks for your help.
    kind regards
    Reinhard

    Dear Ludek,
Many thanks for your quick reply. Currently, I have to finish some other things. I will try your ideas next week and give you some feedback then, to keep you informed.

  • CRVS2010 beta 2 - header underline adding spaces

    Hello,
I'm noticing that headers that are 2 words and the second word is a number, there is a space/break in the underline
For example Address 1 instead of Address 1.
I reported this in beta 1 (see CRVS2010 beta - header underline adding spaces) and hoped that it would have been fixed.
I'm wondering if it is on the list of things to fix for the final release.
    Thank you.

I assume you are referring to the embedded designer's preview is breaking the underline betweeen the word and the number (ie: Address 1).  I am able to reproduce with the CR for VS 2010 Beta2.
I found that the WinForms and ASP.NET CR runtime viewers do not have this issue but the WPF viewer does have this issue.
I will log a bug for both issues.
As a potential workaround, instead of underlining the field, format the object (right-click the object and select Format Object), on the Border tab, set the Bottom line style to "Single".  This is not ideal but it may work for you.

  • Setting Acroform field properties (not values) by importing FDF?

Am I crazy or is there a way to set "hard-to-set-field-properties-unless-you-use-javascript" by importing an FDF document. Currently, when we are programatically adding fields to an AcroForm (some of our customers still require AcroForms) we can't set certain field properties because the API doesn't expose those properties for some reason. I think I remember reading that you can import an FDF file to set field properties (not field values). Is this true?
    Thanks

This is a list of some of the properties that a fellow developer gave me that had to be set by executing javascript within Acrobat:
    fillColor
    borderStyle
    strokeColor
    lineWidth
    doNotScroll
We aren't setting these properties during the end-user experience. We just need to do it programmatically during the design phase.
I was wondering if we could import an FDF to set these properties. Heck, even better it would be great if we could import an FDF to create and position fields and set all of there properties. Is any of this possible?

  • "CRVS2010 Beta - viewer size issue

    Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Crystal Reports viewer in a web application. I'm using visual studio 2010 with CRVS2010 Beta 2 installed. In design mode, the web form shows the report in full size as expected, but when I run the application and pull up the report, all I see is the Group Tree icon.
I've tried setting the height and width on the viewer, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I placed a border around the viewer so I could be sure it wasn't resizing, and it wasn't.
I also have a button outside of the viewer that saves the report off as pdf, and that seems to be working just fine. The report saves with all the data and looks perfect.
I've installed both the 32 bit and 64 bit runtimes on my development machine, but it did not help. I set the application to target 32 bit only, but no help. I set IIS App Pool to Classic mode, no help.
This is an app that was converted from VS 2008 / .NET Framework 3.5 on a new development machine running VS 2010 & 4.0, so there was no previous version of CR installed.
    I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate N 64bit as OS.
Here is the code for the viewer.

    Hi Matthias
I am trying to setup field control to make a bespoke field in a bespoke tab toggle between READ only and Editable.
I have gone through number of posts and the SAP note you mentioned. I have setup the entire configuration required and it is still not working.
What confuses me is that, to setup a field control dynamically, is it all done via configuration?. Is some coding still required in the VIEW methods?. I am setting up a debug breakpoint in the class method that is created for the condition I created, but the program is not stopping there so I think the condition method is not being called.
Please can you give some more details.
    Thanks
    Raj

  • How to deal with the "Set-Cookie" field in HTTP header??

I follow the RFC-2616 specification to write a socket program to fetch web pages.
I have to deal with all the fields included in the HTTP header.
But the RFC-2616 doesn't talk anything about the "Set-Cookie" field.
Does anyone know how to handle this field or provide me any useful documentation.
    Any help is appreciated.

A cookie is set with the "Set-Cookie: "-field in the http header, like this:
    Set-Cookie: mycookie=someValue
This cookie should only be returned to the same host as it came from, like this in the http header of a request:
    Cookie: mycookie=someValue
If the parameter looks like this:
    Set-Cookie: mycookie=someValue; path=/cgi-bin
, the cookie should only be returned to the host if the request path starts with /cgi-bin
If the parameter looks liek this:
    Set-Cookie: mycookie=someValue; domain=.mydomain.com
, the cooke should be returned to all hosts in the .mydomain.com-domain
There is also a "expires="-field, which works as expected and a "secure"-field, which I'm not sure how to handle. Maybe the cookie should only be sent to an SSL-enabled host?
    Hope this helps you. Bye,
    Dag W.

  • Set Key Field in Import Manager

    Hi All,
I have 2 fields in my source file(name, category) .category(look up Field) is the key field and name(display Field) is the matching field.
    I got file like this......
    Name                  category
    1                           A
    1                           B
    1                           C
While importing i got an error stating that Import failed. The destination record was referred to by multiple source records. Duplicate source records should be merged before importing them.
Import action: Update (All Mapped Fields)Source record no: 1
But in this case my key field is Category based on category  then these 3 records will be 3 different records.
Please let me know the  use of Set Key field in the Import Manager and how it works?

    Hi,
It's not about set of key field in MDM Import Manager but the reason is that you can not select more than 1 category(Lookup Taxonomy) in maintable for one record. thats why error is coming because for this Property Multi-valued always No.
Even, you can try this in Data Manager manually create three Category A, B and C in taxonomy mode on selecting Sub table Categories, then on selecting main table, when you select category field(which is lookup to categories table)for a particular record you could able to select only one category A, B or C.
i would suggest make a Attribute of type text having three values A, B and C and mark this as Multi-Valued in Attribute Detail and link this Attribute with your category. in this way you can attach three values A, B and C with your Record.
Other thing you can do,make this category field as (Lookup Hierarchy not lookup taxonomy) in main table to Subtable(Hierarchy) then for this field in main table you can set Property Multi-valued = Yes in MDM console and then after Import using MDM Import Manager finally only one record will get created in Data Manager as:
    Name Category
    1         A;B;C
    Hope it will Help you,
    Rewards if Useful.....

  • Calling a standard subroutine and setting global fields

    Hallo ...
I am calling a subroutine in program A(standard program ) from a  program B .   there are a set of global fields in program A  that i need to first set before i call this subroutine from Program B. is it posible to set these fields from program B. (since i cannot do much on the program A side as it is standard).?
Can some one suggest how can set these fields . some of these fields are flags and some normal fields. Not all the fields have parameterd ids. any idea how can i set thses fields from program B ?????
    Help will be appriciated
    Thanks

    Hello,
    there are two choices:
    (1) You can add a form to program A, if the standard program lets you implement user-defined code. For example, in program SAPMV45A you use a certain include to implement user-defined forms. You can define a form which takes the actual values of the fields in program A which you want to change as parameter. The form then changes the fields (from within the form, the fields are visible and changable). You can call this form by using PERFORM your_form IN program_A.
    (2) You can use a "dirty assign": Refer to the F1 help of the ASSIGN statement for more information about that. Sample may look like this (note the brackets and apostrophes):
    ASSIGN ('(PROGRAM_A)GLOBAL_FIELD') to <fs_proga_global_field>.
However, the assign only works when program A has already been loaded into the internal mode during runtime. This means before doing the ASSIGN, any code of program A must have been executed in the current internal mode.
    Hope this helps,
    David
