Crystal 2008 Viewer Freezes my application

I have a .NET application that hosts a crystal viewer to show reports. I am using Crystal 2008 SP2.
Once I get to this line in my C# code:
this.crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = reportd;
The application just sits there until I click it to get a (Not Responding) message in the app title bar.
Can anyone help me with this???

.NET 1.1
Win app
Oddly, this is only occurring on 1 deployment machine. I say oddly because I have had this application installed on 1000+ machines and never experienced this issue.
I am currently running service pack 2.
Like I said before, I have tracked it down to that line in the code, but have no idea why its freezing there. I resinstalled .NET on the machine as well as Crystal and have not had any luck  yet. I am out of ideas at this point.
Ill try SP3 to see if it works...
Also, I dont think its a threading issue. I have not experienced its current behavior until now after all of those installs on several different windows boxes. Thanks for the suggestion though. I will try it just to rule that out.

  • Reports with subreports take longer to preview in Crystal 2008 Viewer

    Previewing reports containing one or more subreports within a .NET application using the 2008 Windows Forms Crystal Report Viewer control takes much longer than running those same reports from the XI R2 viewer.  This occurs because the report will run a subreport for all pages before the report shows the first page.  In Crystal XI R2, the report would run the subreport for only the first page and only retrieve additional data for that subreport when scrolling to subsequent pages.  Is there a way we can ensure that a subreport only runs for the first page before it previews the first page?

    Hello Darin
    2008 Windows Forms Crystal Report Viewer control takes much longer than running those same reports from the XI R2 viewer
    - What exactly is the difference? In some instances one or two seconds are considered undesirable...
    - How does the performance of the report compare when you run it in the CR designer?
    - What CR Service Pack are you on?
    - Place a check mark at the following report options:
    "No Printer"
    "Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size"
    "Verify on First Print"
    "Verify Stored Procedures on First Print"
    If your subreports are set to "Re-import", turn this option off.
    This occurs because the report will run a subreport for all pages before the report shows the first page.
    - I do not think this is correct. What is this conclusion based on?

  • Problem on using Crystal Report Viewer on windows application ("specified type is not valid ")

    Hi
    I am having problem on using Crystal Report Viewer on one of my windows application.
    I am not sure how to put the Crystal Report Viewer 11 Control onto the tool box.
    I could found a Crystal Report Viewer control on my computer, but it is version 8.5.
    I have also found another one which is Called Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, i don't think it is the one I can use. As when I try to load a dummy report on to the Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, It return an error. "specified type is not valid"
    Please see the Code sample below.
    private sub loadReport()
         Dim r as New ReportDocument
         'v is the name of the Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control
         r.Load("C:\Report1.rtp")
         v.ReportSource(r) <---It throw error on this line.
    End Sub
    Could you give me some advice about what have I done wrong, How to check if I have set up the Crystal Report Component correctly in my Visual Studio 2005 Standard edition.
    Thanks in advances.
    Many thanks
    Chi

    VS 2005 Standard and Express editions do not come with Crystal Reports; only the Professional and higher editions will have CR bundled. However, I believe you can purchase CR XI R2 Developer and it will give you the components you need to create a VS .NET 2005 application using the Standard edition.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Closes the application after showing "The text cannot be found in the report" when searching for a text in a multipage report

    Hi,
    I am using Crystal report viewer (Crviewer.dll) version 11.0.0.1282 to show crystal reports in my VB6 application. When we search for any text in a multipage report after the last find system shows a message "Crystal Report Viewer" "Text cannot be found in the report" and trows an unhandled error and closes the application. How can I fix this?
    Please help
    Thanks in advance.
    Farooque. ([email protected])

    Enter the following:
    viewer blank net crystal
    into the search box in the top right corner. You should get a number of hits (Kbases and articles) that should point you to a solution.

  • Crystal 2008 Reduces Print Size

    We have noticed some strange printing results on a few of our reports in the Crystal 2008 Windows form viewer that we use in our .NET application.  For example, we have a few reports that will print perfectly from the Designer, but the entire output (font, images, etc.) is reduced and centered on the page when printed through our application.  This is problematic whenever the report is printed on u201Cspecialu201D stock other than plain paper, such as stock with preprinted image areas or perforations. In such cases, we have problems of misalignment.  We have discovered that the reports that exhibit this behavior have 0 margins, which we are planning to fix by setting .25 inch margins.
    I would like to know, however, are there any other printing issues we need to be aware of in the Crystal 2008 viewer?  Does the Printer Driver Dependency article still apply to Crystal 2008, or is there a more up to date version of best practices for printing?
    Thanks
    Darin

    Hello,
    Search on ForceLargeFonts and see if that registry key helps...
    PDF export
    Then Export to PDF and then print the report.
    Also, try the No Printer option and Dissociate check box.
    There are known issues due to MS's .NET Framework and printer drivers, MS scales the print job just slightly and nothing CR can do to force it not to. We tracked it and R&D told use they can't resolve the scaling issue, it's MS doing it.
    It works in CR Designer because it still uses WIN32 API's and the legacy DEVMODE(W) structure which can get to. .NET handles DEVMODE(W) in a new way which we can't control fully.

  • Crystal 2008 on 64 bit OS

    We had to move to Crystal 2008 to support our application in citrix environment and now we need to support it on a 64 bit OS.  It appears that crystal 2008 can only work in the emulaton mode on a x64 OS.
    Is there any plan to provide full 64 bit support on Crystal Report 2008?
    Would appreciate any information/suggestions in this regard.

    None, CR 2008 will only run in 32 mode on 64 bit OS's and does work. All DB clients and printers must also be 32 versions to work.
    Thank you

  • Crystal Reports Viewer Control  - Visual Studio 2008 WEB Application

    My question is this:  Has ANYONE on this planet been able to get the ASP .NET CR Viewer control to actually work?
    Why does this editor NOT recognize End-of-line or CR characters or any whitespace??
    I have developed a Crystal Reports "Viewer" web application in VS2008 using C#.
    It's a simple app, in that it's a single page with a treeview control (containing the grouped names of the reports to which the user has access) and the CR Viewer control.
    The report files live on a network share, and permissions to them is controlled via a SQL Server database, which, for each report, stores the UserID and Logion for the oracle database, as well as any required parameter values.
    The reports themselves are all hititng an Oracle 10g database.
    I managed to do this in a Windows desktop applcation using Visual Studio 2005 and VB .net, but now, upon trying to make this a web application in VS2008, I have completely failed. The application works when run locally, but when deployed to the web server, I experience database login prompts when I should not, (the dreaded "Report requires further information" message) even thought the setdatabaselogin has already been set. I have tried saving the reportdocument in viewstate and re-assigning the viewer Datasource property to it, that also fails. However, it only does it on some reports, and not others. (admittedly, the reports may have been created using different CR versions)
    The viewer also displays data it should not be displaying when I attempt to scroll, when I do manage to get a report to run.
    I am setting parameters dynamically at run time, whose values are stored in the SQL database.
    Code Sample:
    protected void ShowReport(int ReportID)
            SQLDataPortal2005.Common sql = new SQLDataPortal2005.Common();
            Hashtable outParms = new Hashtable();
            string sAccess;
            IDataReader dr;
            CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument rptDocument = new CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument();
            System.Security.Principal.WindowsPrincipal p = System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal as System.Security.Principal.WindowsPrincipal;
            sAccess = p.Identity.Name;
            int j = 0;
            int i = -1;
            if (!IsAdmin())
                sql.ExecNonQuery("CrystalReports", outParms, "proc_CRM_Check_Permissions", sAccess, Convert.ToInt32(TreeView1.SelectedNode.Value));
                if (outParms["@Allow"].ToString() != "True")
                   Response.Redirect("ErrorPage.aspx");  // redirect to  error page
            string sPath = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["WareHouse"].ToString();
            sPath = sPath + TreeView1.SelectedNode.Text.Trim() + ".rpt";
            rptDocument.Load(sPath);
            dr = sql.GetDataReader("CrystalReports", "proc_CRM_Get_Report", Convert.ToInt32(TreeView1.SelectedNode.Value));
            while (dr.Read() == true)
                j += 1;
                if (j < 2)
                    rptDocument.SetDatabaseLogon(dr["DB_Login"].ToString(), dr["DB_Pwd"].ToString(), "PLAW", "LAWDB", true);
                    pList = dr["ParmList"].ToString().Split(',');
            dr.Close();
            dr.Dispose();
            if (pList.Length > 0 && pList[0].ToString().Trim() != "")
                foreach (CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterField x in rptDocument.ParameterFields)
                    i++;
                    switch (x.ParameterValueType)
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.BooleanParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToBoolean(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.CurrencyParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDouble(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.DateParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDateTime(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.DateTimeParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDateTime(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.NumberParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToInt32(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.StringParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToString(pList<i>));
                            break;
                        case CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterValueKind.TimeParameter:
                            rptDocument.SetParameterValue(x.Name, Convert.ToDateTime(pList<i>));
                            break;
            Session["CReport"] = rptDocument;
            CRV1.ReportSource = rptDocument;
            CRV1.DisplayGroupTree = false;
            CRV1.HasRefreshButton = true;
            CRV1.ShowFirstPage();
    Is there a better/different way of accomplishing this very simply process? All I need this application to do is to view a report, while setting it's parmeters (if required) dynamically at run time. I don't EVER want the user to be prompted for DB LOGIN INFO.

    To answer you question; Yes, I suspect that most of the users in this community have managed to successfully create web apps. And this is the tiniest of sampling of the developers out there...
    A few suggestions;
    1) Keep the posts to under 1200 characters. Otherwise, the formatting is lost which makes it difficult to read.
    2) Try out a few sample apps from here:
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsfor.NETSDK+Samples
    Suggest; csharp_web_simplelogonengine.zip, csharp_web_simplelogonviewer.zip and csharp_web_subreport_logon.zip.
    3) Start simple; one table, one field, no subreports. Hard code the database logon parameters. Convince your self that this does work. Increase the complexity - add fields, tables, subreports. Do not mix connection methods (e.g.; if ODBC for main, than ODBC for sub is a good idea, though not a requirement).
    4) See the article [Troubleshooting Guide to Database Connectivity Issues with Crystal Reports in Visual Studio .NET Applications|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/b0225775-88c4-2c10-bd80-8298769293de].

  • Viewing Crystal 2008 ActiveX  on Access 2007 forms

    Ok, i am a little confused as there seems to be a some doubt whether Crystal 2008 ActiveX can be used on Access forms. Another thread even has a reply that mentions that the ActiveX control is no longer included in Crystal Reports 2008..... Take a look at this, you can clearly see i have embedded the 2008 ActiveX control onto an Access form. link:[http://www.moktar.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/AX.JPG]
    I have just installed 2008 and will get round to looking at this, however in my brief look, i couldnt see the run time library for 2008. By all accounts you can freely distribute the run time files for Crystal Reports 2008 as MSI or exe packages to your clients. I hope this is the case and i can get the ActiveX working.
    If anyone has some information on this subject i will welcome reading it.
    This is how its used to be done;
    1) Open the Access form in design view.
    2) Click on Add Tool button on the toolbar.
    3) Select Crystal Reports ActiveX toolbar control from the list of controls.
    4) Place the control on the form.
    5) Click on the View Code toolbar button to open the code for the form
    6) Choose u2018Referencesu2019 from the u2018Toolsu2019 menu
    7) Select u2018Crystal Reports ActiveX Design and Runtime Library 11.Xu2019 from the list of references and add to the project.
    8) On the Form_Load() event, please use the code given below to pass the report to the viewer:
    Dim crReport as CRAXDRT.Report
    Dim crApplication as New CRAXDRT.Application
    u2018 Use the appropriate path for the report
    Set crReport = crApplication.OpenReport(u201CC:\Report1.rptu201D)
    u2018 ReportSource property and ViewReport method will not be displayed on the viewer control
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer0.ReportSource = crReport
    CrystalActiveXReportViewer0.ViewReport
    'Hey Presto, the Crystal control on the Access form is now displaying a report. However, you had the age old issue of distributing the runtime files to clients that dont have crystal reports installed, and even more so of an issue, as this is Access and no method of doing it. I was hoping that 2008 with its MSI and EXE versions of the runtime files would solve this age old problem.
    Thanks
    Simon.

    Hello Simon,
    The RDC was retired after Crystal Reports XI R2 and no longer exists in CR 2008.
    The viewer control you are seeing is not meant for RDC applications.
    You will need to move to Java or .NET if you plan on using CR 2008.
    Best Regards,
    Jason

  • Crystal Reports Viewer 2008 and parameter fields

    Hello,
    I saw this product on the main Crystal Reports site this afternoon and decided to download it to try it out.  I have a number of users who would benefit from being able to preview their report results prior to actually running the report.  This seems like the perfect product.  I have a large number of Crystal Reports which were created in Crystal version XI.  I also downloaded the free 30 day version of Crystal Reports 2008 yesterday to see what new features are there.
    While testing Crystal Reports Viewer, I tried to run one of my reports which needs a parameter to run properly (account number).  This type of parameter is needed for probably 98% of this business' reports.
    The problem: Crystal Reports Viewer does not prompt me to input the parameter.  In my actual Crystal Report, I had the box "Save Data with Report' left unchecked, as the account number frequently changes.  However, if that box is left unchecked, Crystal Reports Viewer will give me the error message "No Saved Data.  This report file does not contain saved data and cannot be viewed.  To get data into the report, please open and re-save it in the Crystal Reports designer application with the "Save Data with Report" option selected."
    Thinking that possibly it was the version of Crystal Reports in which the report was created (XI), I downloaded the free trial of Crystal 2008 and created a very simple test report with one parameter for account number where the account number is retrieved from our database.  And I am having the same trouble.
    The "Help" section of Crystal Reports Viewer tells me that I can select my parameters in the parameter panel.  I do not see anything in my parameter panel other than the words "Current Data Set Last refreshed: 04/12/10 2:58 PM".  The help tells me that I can "select the parameter directly in this panel by entering a new value", but there is no option to do so.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    Noel

    What I've learned is that I was originally using Crystal Viewer XI and upon opening it I received a message indicating there was an update.
    I ran the update which put me on Crystal Viewer 2008.
    Since then I have not been able to refresh my screen to bring up the parameters.
    See the attached forum for another post concerning this same issue.

  • Very slow loading time - Crystal Reports Viewer 2008

    Hi,
      I search this forum to find another thread regarding this issue.  Since I've found nothing in particular, I started this one.
      We are currently developping a new report engine based on the .Net Crystal Report Viewer. This engine will be used in our applications to show, print and export reports.  We based the engine on the Crystal Report 2008 version (12.0.2000).  The code is in C#, targeted on the Framework 3.5 SP1.  For the CR runtime, we tested on machines with the SP2 and SP3 versions, as well as on a computer with Crystal Report Developper installed (v12.3.0.601) with no runtimes.  Since the runtime is in x86 only, the engine is compiled in x86 (not ANY CPU)
      When we try to open a report in an application, the first report loading is unusally slower than the others.  If I open a report, close it and open it a second time, the second time is much faster than the first.  While reading the threads, I realized that the first load implies some assembly loading from the Framework (which is normal).
      But since i can take as long as 20-30 seconds to load the first report, I ran some test.  Using the System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.AssemblyLoad event, I've tracked the assemblies being loaded when opening the report and the start time of the loading.  I've discovered that, while most of the CR assemblies takes less than 500 milliseconds to load, there is one that takes at least 3 seconds (20 seconds sometimes) to load : BusinessObjects.Licensing.KeyCodeDecoder.  Each time I ran the tests, it is the assembly that is the slowest (and by far) among them all.
      Prior to this, we were using Delphi with the Crystal Report 10 runtime.  We never had such issues.  Now, some customers are complaining about this behavior.
      For you information, we are using the ReportDocument.Load() method to load documents.  Our reports are all dynamically linked to the database with the DataSourceConnections.SetConnection() method.  The report is being loaded in the viewer using the CrystalReportViewer.ReportSource property.
      Why does it takes so long to load/execute ? Is there something implied with registry keys or Internet access ?  Is there a way to speed up things ?
      Thanks !

    Thanks for your help Don ! :o)
    I know that the CR10 runtime was built on win32 and while I knew that the .Net version of the runtime would be slower due to the Framework and .Net architecture, we did not expect such differences between the two methods.
    You are right that the hardware could play a great factor here, but since I work on this machine for a few years now and I saw the performance from the old CRPE32.dll and the new .Net counterpart, I am really surprised that there is such a difference.  Most of our customers have entry-level desktops and our application always ran well on it, until now.
    So, if it is the way that the CR 2008 runtime works, do you know if your developpers optimized this part with the next version (CR 2010) or it is based on the same engine ?
    Thanks again for your time !

  • Export from Crystal Reports 2008 viewer fails if run on separate thread

    I have a windows desktop application written in Visual Basic using Visual Studio 2008.  I have installed and am trying Crystal Reports 2008 to run a report.  Everything seems to work well except that when I preview a report (using the viewer control) and click the export button found in the upper left corner of that control, I get the following message:
    Error 5: Current thread must be set to single thread apartment (STA) mode before OLE calls can be made.  Ensure that your Main function has STAThreadAttribute marked on it.  This exception is only raised if a debugger is attached to the process.
    I am a little confused on what to do exactly.  Is the problem because I am running in the Visual Studio 2008 IDE?  It says this exception is only raise if a debugger is attached to the process.  No, I tried running it outside the IDE.  The exception wasn't generated but the application hung when the button was clicked.
    It says the current thread must be set to single thread apartment (STA) mode.  If the report is run on its own thread, is the "current" thread the thread the report is running on or is the main application's UI thread?  I don't think I want to set my main application to single thread apartment mode because it is a multi-threaded application (although I really don't know for sure because I am new to multi-threaded programming).
    My objective is to allow reports to run asynchronously so that the user can do other things while it is being generated.  Here is the code I use to do this:
        ' Previews the report using a new thread (asynchronously)
        Public Sub PreviewReportAsynch(ByVal sourceDatabase As clsMainApplicationDatabase)
            Dim backgroundProcess As System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker
            ' Start a new thread to run this report.
            backgroundProcess = New System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker
            Using (backgroundProcess)
                ' Wire the function we want to run to the 'do work' event.
                AddHandler backgroundProcess.DoWork, AddressOf PreviewReportAsynch_Start
                ' Kick off the report asynchronously and return control to the calling process
                backgroundProcess.RunWorkerAsync(sourceDatabase)
            End Using
        End Sub
        Private Sub PreviewReportAsynch_Start(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs)
            ' The source database needed to call preview report was passed as the only argument
            Call PreviewReport(CType(e.Argument, clsMainApplicationDatabase))
        End Sub
        ' Previews the report.  From the preview window, the user can print it.
        Public Function PreviewReport(ByVal sourceDatabase As clsMainApplicationDatabase) As FunctionEndedResult
            Dim errorBoxTitle As String
            Dim frmPreview As frmReportPreview
            ' Setup error handling
            errorBoxTitle = "Preview " & Name & " Report"
            PreviewReport = FunctionEndedResult.FAILURE
            On Error GoTo PreviewError
            ' Set up the crxReport object
            If InitializeReportProcess(sourceDatabase) <> FunctionEndedResult.SUCCESS Then
                GoTo PreviewExit
            End If
            ' Use the preview form to preview the report
            frmPreview = New frmReportPreview
            frmPreview.Report = crxReport
            frmPreview.ShowDialog()
            ' Save any settings that should persist from one run to the next
            Call SavePersistentSettings()
            ' If we got this far everything is OK.
            PreviewReport = FunctionEndedResult.SUCCESS
    PreviewExit:
            ' Do any cleanup work
            Call CleanupReportProcess(sourceDatabase)
            Exit Function
    PreviewError:
            ' Report error then exit gracefully
            ErrorBox(errorBoxTitle)
            Resume PreviewExit
        End Function
    The variable crxReport is of type ReportDocument and the windows form called 'frmPreview' has only 1 control, the crystal reports viewer.
    The print button on the viewer works fine.  Just the export button is failing.  Any ideas?

    Hi Trevor.
    Thank you for the reply.  The report document is create on the main UI thread of my application.  The preview form is created and destroyed on the separate thread.  For reasons I won't get into, restructuring the code to move all the initialization stuff inside the preview form is not an option (OK, if you a really curious, I don't always preview a report, sometimes I print and/or export it directly which means the preview form isn't used).
    What I learned through some other research is that there are some things (like COM calls and evidently some OLE automation stuff) that cannot be run on a thread that uses the MTA threading model.   The export button probably uses some of this technology, thus the message stating that an STA threading model is required.  I restructured the code as follows to accomodate this requirement.  Here is a sample:
    ' Previews the report using a new thread (asynchronously)
        Public Sub PreviewReportAsynch(ByVal sourceDatabase As clsMainApplicationDatabase)
            Dim staThread As System.Threading.Thread
            ' Start the preview report function on a new thread
            staThread = New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf PreviewReportAsynchStep1)
            staThread.SetApartmentState(System.Threading.ApartmentState.MTA)
            staThread.Start(sourceDatabase)
        End Sub
        Private Sub PreviewReportAsynchStep1(ByVal sourceDatabase As Object)
            Dim staThread As System.Threading.Thread
            ' Initialize report preview.  This includes staging any data and configuring the
            ' crystal report document object for use by the crystal report viewer control.
            If InitializeReportProcess(DirectCast(sourceDatabase, clsMainApplicationDatabase)) = FunctionEndedResult.SUCCESS Then
                ' Show the report to the user.  This must be done on an STA thread so we will
                ' start another of that type.  See description of PreviewReportAsynchStep2()
                staThread = New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf PreviewReportAsynchStep2)
                staThread.SetApartmentState(System.Threading.ApartmentState.STA)
                staThread.Start(mcrxReport)
                ' Wait for step 2 to finish.  This blocks the current thread, but this thread
                ' isn't the main UI thread and this thread has no UI anymore (the progress
                ' form was closed) so it won't matter that is it blocked.
                staThread.Join()
                ' Save any settings that should persist from one successful run to the next
                Call SavePersistentSettings()
            End If
            ' Release the crystal report
            Call CleanupReportProcess(DirectCast(sourceDatabase, clsMainApplicationDatabase))
        End Sub
        ' The preview form must be launched on a thread that use the single-threaded apartment (STA) model.
        ' Threads use the multi-threaded apartment (MTA) model by default.  This is necessary to make the
        ' export and print buttons on the preview form work.  They do not work when running on a
        ' thread using MTA.
        Public Sub PreviewReportAsynchStep2(ByVal crxInitializedReport As Object)
            Dim frmPreview As frmReportPreview
            ' Use the preview form to preview the report.  The preview form contains the crystal reports viewer control.
            frmPreview = New frmReportPreview
            frmPreview.Report = DirectCast(crxInitializedReport, ReportDocument)
            frmPreview.ShowDialog()
        End Sub
    Thanks for your help!

  • Complied application doesn't work for client (Crystal 2008 & VS 2008)

    I am creating a VS 2008 (.NET 2.0) application.  I am using Crystal Reports 2008 (v12).  Everything works fine on my PC.  When I move it to one of my client's computers and try to run a report from within the application it bombs out.
    I am loading the reports into the Crystal Reports Viewer as objects.  It has always worked in the past.
    Thanks for insight

    That got me one step closer.
    There was another Crystal Reports 2008 runtime installed on the system.  It must have been the incorrect one.  I installed the one you linked to and I get much further now.  Now when I go to view the report I am prompted with a Database Login form.  This is weird because I have the credentials hard coded in the program.
    TableLogOnInfo logon = new TableLogOnInfo();
                logon.ConnectionInfo.UserID = "webreports";
                logon.ConnectionInfo.Password = "******";
                logon.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = "******";
                logon.ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "Canopy3";
                crystalReportViewer.LogOnInfo = new TableLogOnInfos();
                crystalReportViewer.LogOnInfo.Add(logon);
    The Database Login form has Server Name filled in correctly, but grayed out.  Database is blank and grayed out. Login ID is correct and editable.  Password is all asterisks, so I don't know if it is correct.  No matter what I do it will not logon.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Crystal Reports 2008 viewer, print function, Comunication error

    I installed cr2008 on a web server and isntalled sp0
    if I bring up a reprot in smartviewer from a client it works and I can print
    once I installed sp1, sp2 and or sp3 for crystal reports 2008 the print button in crystal reports viewer gives an error when I click the print button.
    If I remove and re-isntall cr2008 and just installed sp0 the print button works again
    Is there a fix to make the print button work in crystal reports smart viewer once sp1 or above have been installed
    thank you
    ted

    Translating the error message on bablefish I get:
    Mistake with the store of the data bank information. Mistake in the file Report {C6512421-348A-4621-B1ED-895D28646A0A} .rpt
    Which I'm sure is not 100% accurate, but it gives a good hint. As well, because of this:
    "Do I need to install an additional / diffrent runtime than 2008 Runtime"
    I wonder how you installed the CR 12 runtime on that computer? For more info on CR runtimes, see [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsforVisualStudio.NETRuntimeDistribution-Versions9.1to12.0] wiki.
    If my suggestion above does not help, make sure the Win\temp directory can be accessed buy the application. Crystal Reports runtime needs to write and read files from the temp directory.

    Hi All,
    I want to add the crystal report viewer 2008 as a reference in .net and through the coding i have to generate report using the report viewer 2008.How should i achieve this.
    Kind regards
    Mohana

    Hello Mohana,
    Are you talking about (1) Crystal Report Viewer 2008, the Java-based stand-alone report viewer, (2) Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008, the embedded Crystal Report component that comes with Visual Studio 2008, or (3) Crystal Reports 2008, that comes with the Report Application Server SDK that has report modification features?
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda
