Crystal Design 2008 Moving A Field

I am using Crystal Design 2008 and I need to move a field to the left just 1/8 of an inch, but everytime I try to move it automatically moves the field 1/4 of an inch. Is there any settings to adjust the amount of space or distance to move a field, line, etc.

Change the Grid size .
File>Options>Layout Tab-->Grid options
Set the grid size as 0.125. which is the 1/8 th of an inch.
Note: Grid size rage is  0.001 to 1.000

  • Crystal Reports 2008 sql image field stretches in report display

    i have the full version of Crystal reports 2008 i run through a .net web form to display the reports. i have need to display logos which in resize mid stream before saving to the sq table. My problem is when i got to retrieve the images it looks like crystal is stretching them to fit. I can have horizontal or vertical images and i resize them to fit the smallest determined in the report. Another issue is the background turns black. The images appear to be "normal" outside of the report. Am i doing something wrong? Is there a setting i'm missing i need to config or something? I'm kind of lost i assumed as long as i stored the images in teh proper size they would diplay correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
    There are some features which are available in the Crystal Designer and not available in the RAS SDK.
    (eg: delete datasource to create a new one, 'setSuppressEmbeddedFieldBlank' function...)
    Since this is something I really need to automate,
    I would like to know how to drive Crystal Designer (2008) to fullfill these tasks.
    Is Ole Automation possible ? where to find some documentation ?

  • Report and Field Explorer dont work in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi
    I am using the following versions of Crystal Reports:
    Crystal Reports 2008  (Service Pack 1)
    CR Developer
    Version 12.1.0.892
    Product Type: Full
    Target environment: .NET 3.5 windows forms and asp.net application
    Since a couple of days, i can no longer access the field explorer nor the report exlorer. Anything else seems to be working fine. I first thought these windows were somewhere hidden behind another window but as much as i searched, i didnt succed in finding them :-(.  Our product has a valid licence and is registered, by the way.
    My question is now, what do i have to do to get my field/report explorer again. Maybe, installing the latest service pack had an influence, but i cannot tell for sure.
    Any help is appreciated

  • Date Formatting in a Result Field: Crystal Reports 2008

    I'm modifying a report at runtime in c# .Net using Crystal Reports 2008.
    I'm having trouble modifying a date fields format. I have accessed the DateFieldFormat object, and modified the properties, but only the SystemDefaultType property seems to have any affect.
    If the Date format is set in the Visual Report Designer I can see the details of the format in DateFieldObject, but editing these values doesn't have any affect on the report once displayed.
    Here is a sample of the code i'm using:

  • Crystal Reports Viewer 2008 and parameter fields

    Hello,
    I saw this product on the main Crystal Reports site this afternoon and decided to download it to try it out.  I have a number of users who would benefit from being able to preview their report results prior to actually running the report.  This seems like the perfect product.  I have a large number of Crystal Reports which were created in Crystal version XI.  I also downloaded the free 30 day version of Crystal Reports 2008 yesterday to see what new features are there.
    While testing Crystal Reports Viewer, I tried to run one of my reports which needs a parameter to run properly (account number).  This type of parameter is needed for probably 98% of this business' reports. 
    The problem: Crystal Reports Viewer does not prompt me to input the parameter.  In my actual Crystal Report, I had the box "Save Data with Report' left unchecked, as the account number frequently changes.  However, if that box is left unchecked, Crystal Reports Viewer will give me the error message "No Saved Data.  This report file does not contain saved data and cannot be viewed.  To get data into the report, please open and re-save it in the Crystal Reports designer application with the "Save Data with Report" option selected."
    Thinking that possibly it was the version of Crystal Reports in which the report was created (XI), I downloaded the free trial of Crystal 2008 and created a very simple test report with one parameter for account number where the account number is retrieved from our database.  And I am having the same trouble. 
    The "Help" section of Crystal Reports Viewer tells me that I can select my parameters in the parameter panel.  I do not see anything in my parameter panel other than the words "Current Data Set Last refreshed: 04/12/10 2:58 PM".  The help tells me that I can "select the parameter directly in this panel by entering a new value", but there is no option to do so.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    What I've learned is that I was originally using Crystal Viewer XI and upon opening it I received a message indicating there was an update.
    I ran the update which put me on Crystal Viewer 2008.
    Since then I have not been able to refresh my screen to bring up the parameters.

    I am now using crystal reports 2008 evaluation copy for 30 days. I am trying to create a stored procedure with parameter, here is my sample Stored Procedure code;

    CR2008 was not asking a parameter values.
    But when I try using stored procedure that i've made in MSSQL, CR2008 asking parameters and succefully created the reports needed.
    My Objective is to make a stored procedure  in MySQL by using select statement and filter it with parameter(s) that I will pass and CR2008 will use this stored procedure.
    i also try the view with this code below and it was successfull in CR2008.

    Crystal Reports 2008 and MySQL 5 , ODBC driver 3.5 and ODBC driver 5.1.
    I use ODBC connector 3.5 because I got errors in ODBC drivers in 5.1.

  • SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2008, personal edition, full product download

    Hi, can anyone tell me what I need to do after downlaoding 2008 personal edition?
    I've tried to run the install file but I keep getting a window that tells me "Microsoft XP and later applications: Excel, Word, Outlook or PowerPoint must be pre-installed".
    But my laptop is already installed with MS XP and MS Office 2010.

  • Two problmes between  Crystal Reports 2008 and Bex Query

    Hi Gurus.
    I have two problems with Crystal Reports 2008 when It obtains data from a Bex Query (SAP MDX query connection).
    1)     I have defined some Parameters Fields using the follow options:
    Type: String
    List of Values: Dynamic
    Value Options Level1:
                         Show on (Viewer) Panel :Editable
                          Prompt text: <text>
                          Sort Order: Ascending by value
                          Prompt With description Only : False
                          Optional Prompt: True
                          Allow multiple values: True

                          Allow range values: False
    When I execute the report with the client of Crystal Reports 2008 (the developer tool), in the initial screen shows a list box where I can select the values from the left box and add it to the left box (as a usually filter). When the number of options (LOV) is more than  the maximum of the system, I have a input box bellow the list box, where I can insert any value (manually) and a button to insert it into the left box. When I publish the Report in the infoview, this filter is modified and the input box where I can introduce manually values is not showed and I can insert only the values showed in the list box, it causes that I can`t select a lot of values that is in the master data of SAP BW, because they arenu2019t listed in the list box.
    There is any option to ability this option in the infoview.
    2)     My Bex query, have a date filter with variable in the restricted key figures, when I execute a Crystal Reports, the infoview (and the Crystal Reports 2008 designer) ask me 2 times the same date, first only the date and second the date and the rest of parameters (introduced in the report of Crystal Reports).
    Why I need insert the date 2 times? How can I modify the Crystal Report for ask me only one time all the parameters?.

    1) Yes, the parameters are created in the Crystal Reports designer. I have created the parameters in the Crystal Report because I use the same Bex Query to create some Crystal Report, in other case, I will need create some Bex Query.
    2)The Bex query has the date filters and I have created some filters in Crystal Reports designer, the date filter from the Bex query is created automatically in the Crystal Report Designer but I don't use it, I haven't created it anytime. I use my filters only in the record selection. The date filters from the Bex query is showed as Static, and I can`t delete it, if I modify the parameter to dynamic or static with values, at first step ask me again static without values and the second step of the report execution ask me the parameter as I have defined in Crystal Reports Designer, my parameters fields are dynamic. A lot of reports have subreport, but I have created one of them without subreport (to trial) and the Crystal Reports ask me the date filters at first execution, and when I insert the date filters, in the second step, ask me the date filters again and my parameters fields again.

    In query designer i have some selection variable.
    The requirement from clint is that they want to see what value is selected for all  variable.
    when i tried to put all parameter field in crystal report it is showing only Technical name of value selected not  description and also it show only for variable which is single value variable  not for the range value variable and multiple selection variable.
    can any one help me How to get description of value in report and can it is possible to show Range value and multiple value for a particular variable .
    i am using Crystal report 2008 SP3 version.

  • Dynamic Sorting on Multiple filed in Crystal report 2008

      I am using Crystal report 2008 sp3 full build with hotfix 3.3 along with ASP.NET 2.0
      I have implimented the multi filed sorting using the record sort export and setting the sort order in the report designer.
    Now my requirement is such that i would like to have dynamic sorting on multiple fileds while report is displayed in the UI.
    Means suppose i have a report with Customer region,name,city,rating,status etc.
    Now by using the sort control  i would like to have the functionality in such a way that if user
    a)  first sorts on the region then the records should be first sorted by region
    b)  then sorts on the city then the records should be sorted first by region then by city
    c) now sorts on the  rating then the records should be sorted first by region ,second by city and then by rating
    Now other user may do
    a) first sorts on the rating then the records should be first sorted by rating
    b)  then sorts on the status then the records should be sorted first by rating then by status
    c) now user sorts on the  region then the records should be sorted first by rating,second by status and then by region
    and so on the sorting criteria changes from user to user through the UI.
    Is there any way to achieve the dynamic kind of sorting with Crytsal report 2008 where we can set the order of the fileds at sorting in UI dynamically .The sorting order of the fields are not known at the time of design of the report and its completely depends on the user's need.

    The report is used by the whole organization ..
    i mean the people with different roles like Manger,Team leads,modul leads,developers ,testers etc..
    the usage of report varies according to the roles so the sort order also.

  • CR2008 Not enough memory while exporting reports from Crystal Reports 2008

    I have recently upgraded our Crystal Reports version from Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 to Crystal Reports 2008. After upgradation I am facing the problem "Memory full.OtherErrorFailed to export the report. Not enough memory for operation" when I am trying to export the report from Crystal Reports 2008 Report viewer, or directly from the code behind. The application is hosted application.     Can someone help me resolve the issue.

    The .rpt file size is 14MB with the Data Save option enabled, 12MB without Data Save.  Presumably the 12MB file size is because of the 24bit PNG we have as our background.
    The Designer executes the report in less than a second and we can scroll through all pages and see the image fields perfectly.
    When we Export to PDF, the Designer takes a long time, eventually gets to the 77%, the 7th record and returns "Export report failed" followed by "Memory full".  If we export only page 1 of the 3 pages, it also returns a Memory full error.  However, when the same report is run with only 1 page, that page exports to PDF but with a ridiculously large size and export time.
    The machine has 2GB of physical memory with an 8GB pagefile with Windows 2003 (latest everything).  The process runs up to about 1GB before reporting the memory full error.
    We've also tried a variety of other suggestions posted in the other thread with no success.
    We're happy to provide the RPT file to the Report Team to diagnose the problem.  Ultimately, we need to be able to produce a 15 page report with approximately 45 images.
    Our preferred scenario is fixing problem 2.  The CR Designer seems quite capable of rendering our report and printing it to our third party PDF printer in a timely manner with small size.  However, the API reports memory full.
    The API resides in a dedicated reporting web service with NO other code except for loading the report, setting parameters and printing.  When executing, it uses up to about 1.1GB before reporting the error.
    Are there any other suggestions for fixing what we have?  Are there known problems with large images in reports?  Do we need to lodge a formal support request?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 and Dynamic Images

    Hello,
    I have a windows .net application that uses a listing of items in a grid.  The user selects an item then clicks the print button and that brings up a report viewer form and passes the photograph location in a parameter to the report document being loaded.
    The first time that this report is printed, the image for the selected item is printed correctly.  The next time the report is printed, the default image used to create the graphic object on the report is printed.
    In addition if a user double clicks on the listing of items, a detail form is displayed.  When the same report is printed from this screen, the default image used to create the graphic object on the report is printed.
    This is happening in multiple .net windows applications.
    Can anyone please give me an idea as to what may be causing this.
    I am using Crystal Reports 2008 with Service Pack 2 installed.

    In the Crystal Report the Graphic Location formula field takes the {?MyPhotoLocation} + {Table.Photo} field to display the picture.  I have placed the parameter and the photo field on the report and the correct data is in the fields.
    This is the exact same form being opened and that displays correctly from the listing screen.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 export to PDF does not render Japanese fonts

    Hello,
    I have searched the forums for this issue, and there does not seem to be a clear resolution to this problem.  We are using CR2008 to create RPT files that are bundled with our custom .NET 2005 application, which then generates reports in PDF format by running the RPT files against an access mdb database using the CR2008 runtime (our application is deployed on a different machine than the one that is used to create the RPT files).  The issue we are having occurs when data in the access mdb file contains Strings with Japanese characters.  The system that our application is running on does contain the eastern asian language fonts so if a user opens the mdb file using access, they can see the Unicode strings in the database rendered properly (rather than the usual boxes and garbage).  However, once our application generates the report filling in the rpt file with data from the mdb and exporting the report to pdf format, the entries that should contain Japanese font data, which leads me to believe the problem is in the export pdf function of the crystal reports 2008 runtime.  Is there anyway we can configure the runtime to properly embed the fonts in the PDF so that the users can view the Japanese content from the database.  Our users end up viewing reports on both OSX and Windows using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    2) What happens if you export the report to PDF format from the standalone Crystal Reports Designer?
    Same result.  The entry shows up as giberish in the report designer preview...however, by doing this I stumbled upon something.  See below
    3) Are you able to export the report to other formats without any issue?

    NOTE:
    In another part of the report, I just put the fields in question directly in the report (that is, not embedded in a text object).  That part of the report when run produces the correct non-gibberish, properly rendered Japanese result (in the CR designer preview).  The same field, however, when embedded in a text object, results in the gibberish being shown in the designer preview as well.
    Now when I export this to PDF, that ends up turning both areas into the incorrect, gibberish result.  Both the one that did properly render in the preview (field not embedded in text object) and the one in the text object.
    Exporting to any other format (tried xls, rtf and html) results in correct rendering for the field not embedded in the text object and incorrect rendering for the field embedded in a text object.
    Hope this helps with the problem, and I think it means this thread probably still belongs under this current forum.

  • SAP Integration Kits 3.0 with Crystal Report 2008

    Hi,
    I have installed Intergration Kits 3.0 and Crystal Report 2008.
    I open the Crystal Report Designer from Start >Programs >Crystal Reports 2008 > Crystal Reports 2008.
    As mentioned by Ingo, I have ticked the MDX driver setting via SAP menu option.
    I clicked on u201CCreate New report from queryu201D
    Selected the fields from the Query and placed in the report.
    When I click on Preview button, I hits the following:
    Database Connector Error: u2018Function module u201C/CRYSTAL/MDX_GET_STREAM_INFOu201D not found.u2019
    Another problem that I encountered is when I can only enter UPPERCASE for my SAP BW User ID and Password in Crystal Report (when I try to logon into SAP BW in Crystal by clicking on the u201CCreate New report from queryu201D). So I need to change my password to Uppercase in BW.
    Have you encountered this before? I guess it is related to installation problem? Should I uninstall and reinstall again?

    So I just need to send the neccessary files mentioned in transports_EN.txt to my basis guys with your instruction. Then I should be able to use the MDX driver in crystal reports already?

    the SAP BusinessObjects documentation (and Ingo) mentions that the transports have to be imported. HOW to do this is an SAP Basis administration related issue and is NOT described in the BusinessObjects documentation.
    As far as I know the appropriate files (there is a dependency related to the version and the type (BW or R/3) of your SAP backend system) described in  transports_EN.txt) have to be copied in the directory which is set to be the tranport queue for your SAP system and then the admin can use the STMS transaction to import them.
    NOTE: In a BW system you have to import BOTH the SAP Basis transports AND the SAP BW related transports. That means you have to import in total 9 transports = 18 files
