Crystal Report Date Issue after SSIS

Hello,
I created a ETL process from Oracle to SQL, with 2 date fields, when I open CR I see them as 'string [10]' and not as date, can anybody know why is that ?
Thank you
Daniel

You need to find out if you have the source table column defined as string (CHAR/VARCHAR).
But I would not worry about CR, just use a formula. Perhaps the date format is not ISO or different than yout locale so it gets picked as text.

  • Crystal Reports Duplexing issues after upgrading to SP5

Our Application Software Vendor uses Crystal Reports XI as their reporting tool.  Recently we upgraded our application software which included upgraded from CR XI SP3 to SP5.  Since then we've experianced problems printing some of the reports in DUPLEX mode.  All our printers are set up to print DUPLEX by default.  Since they upgrade, many of our reports have begun to print SINGLE SIDED even though EVERYTHING should print in DUPLEX.  This only occurs if the report is to print to the users DEFAULT printer.  If the user changes printers before running the report, it prints correctly in DUPLEX mode. I opened the reports in the CR designer and changed the preinter setting to select the DEFAULT printer.  This worked in a couple of instances, but not for most of the reports.  Any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I create all Crystal reports using the HP III driver as the designeted printer and have for 10 + years.. It is the generic HP driver  Seems to solve alot of printer problems that i have encountered reqardless of what printer they are actually using.
This is not used to replace the users print driver, just within the actual creation of the Reports.
    Good Luck.

  • Xcelsius - Crystal Report Data Consumer connection Issues

Sorry for the long post but i hope with the full explaination, i can get a quick answer & solution.
Using Crystal Reports 2008 and Xcelsius 2008 Engage, SQL 2008 stored procedure.
I have tested the Crystal Reports Data Consumer connection within the Xcelsius program, using the following steps :
    1. Create a stored procedure that returns the Continent Name and the Count of Projects within each Continent.
    2. Create a Crystal Report using the stored procedure, 2 columns in the Details section, column names in the Page Header section.
    3. Save and export this as an Excel spreadsheet.
    4. Open the Xcelsius program, new file and import spreadsheet. Column A is the Continent Name, Column B is the Count.
    5. Without altering the spreadsheet, I created a graph using the data imbedded. i.Bar Graph, series and row selections. Ii. Pie chart with row data selection. Iii.Column data as series and row selections.
    6. Created a Crystal Report Data Consumer connection using the data imbedded within then spreadsheet. The column A as the u201CRow Headersu201D & column B as the u201CDatau201D. Took quite a while to get the right combination of selected components so that the preview actually showed the data and the corresponding data labels. The Legend still hasnu2019t shown up.
    7. Save and Export as Flash (swf) file.
    8. Close Xcelsius and open Crystal Reports.
    9. Open the same report used to create the spreadsheet and Insert -> Flash, choosing the newly created swf file.
    10. Link the data displayed On the Crystal Report to the Flash file now embedded, using the Flash Expert. Have tried both with the data listed on the Report, and the data listed as the result of the stored procedure.
    11. Previewed and the Data shown on the Graph does match the data listed within the Details section of the Report.
    12. I then altered the stored procedure to add u201C1u201D to all counts, and refreshed the Crystal Report. (I cannot add new data to the underlying database/tables, due to various other folks & projects using that same database.)
    13. The listed data does change to match the changes within the procedure.
    14. The Data labels on the Graph do change to match the changes within the procedure.
    15. The Actual Displayed Data within the Graph Does Not change to match the changes within the procedure.
I have attempted this with a pie chart, a bar and column charts with the same affect.
I have searched the web, printed out 4 different examples on how to make this work and still it is hit or miss. I still can not get the legend to show up, either in the preview or the within the Crystal Reports. When I preview the graph before adding the Crystal Report Data Consumer connections, it does work.
Please someone tell me, What am I missing here ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Using Crystal Report Data Connection in Xcelcius 2008

The documentation does not explain how data to populate row, column and details is passed to SWF.
Can some-one please point how CR Data Connection when created in Xcelcius 2008 is used in Crystal Report Design time ? Is it through Flash variables? Basically more details are needed for "when setup properly" clause. How to map Crystal Reports Fields to Xcelcius Definitions.
    Thanks

    From Doc:
"With the release of Crystal Reports 2008, it is now possible to embed an Xcelsius-generated SWF file into a Crystal Report and have the SWF consume data from that report. When set up properly, refreshing the data in your Crystal Report will update the embedded SWF.
To configure your Xcelsius SWF to consume data from its Crystal Rport source data, you must open the Data Manager in Xcelsius and add a new Crystal Report Data Consumer connection. After adding the connection, bind the following ranges to your spreadsheet:  Row Headers, Column Headers, Data"
"Using Crystal Reports 2008, embed the SWF file into the Crystal Report source data file. When designing your Crystal Report, you will determine what fields/data populate the Row Headers, Comumn Headers, and Data ranges that were designated in your Xcelsius SWF. When set up properly, refereshing your Crystal Report will also refresh the data being sent to and consumed by the embedded SWF. See"

  • SAP Crystal Reports data source connection problem using sap business one

    Hi,
I m facing a problem regarding: SAP Crystal Reports data source connection problem using sap business one
I am trying to create a Crystal report but when I try to configure a new connection it does not work.
I select Sap Business One data source and try to complete the information required to connection but it does not list my companies databases, what is the problem?
Our Current SAP related software details are as follows:
    OS: Windows Server 2008
    SAP B1 Version: SAP B1 9 (902001) Patch 9
SAP Crystal Report Version: 14.0.4.738 RTM
Database: MS SQL Server 2008 R2
I have also added some screenshots of the issues.
Please have a look and let me know if you have any questions or any further clarifications.
I m eagerly waiting for a quick and positive reply.

    Hi,
There is problem with SAP Business One date source.
I had faced same problem, I used OLEDB Data-source, and it worked fine for me.
    So, try to use OLEDB.
    Regards,
    Amrut Sabnis.

  • Defining multiple Crystal Report Data Consumer connections?

I am creating a Xcelsius object that uses data from Crystal Reports.
To do that, I define Crystal Report Data Consumer connection. With this I can use Crystal to connect to the data source, create table of data (crosstab) and pass it to the flash object.
But I can only define one such connection. Why can't I define more that one?
I would like to pass two different sets of data and use them in different parts of the dashboard. Trying to get all the data into a single crosstab may not be possible.
Is there another way to do this?
    Thanks.
    Tim

I have found that I can pass any number of tables of data from CR to XC using flashvars, either XML or CSV.
XML is easy, but you chew up 17 chars (64 bytes) in XML chars per column marker. And with a 64KB string max, you're left with at most 1K data points, and that's with no data!
CSV is old school XC 4.5, converting an array in to a row-order string, not nearly as convenient as a Crystal Report Data Consumers, but it works and you have only a 4 byte overhead per column (the comma.)
Converting cross-tabs to strings, though, can be a bear because cross-tabs are evaluated column-order and you may not know how many columns you are going to have.
So use the Crystal Reports Data Consumer for the intricate cross-tab and CSV flashvars for the other tables.
And then hope it all loads in less than 7 seconds.

  • Schedule CR by crystal report data consumer

    Hello expert,
I want to embed a xcelsius dashboard into crystal report by crystal report data consumer, but I don't know if I can schedule this mixed crystal report in infoview and send it out by email periodically? because I 've heard there are some restriction for crystal report data consumer on export and print.
    Many Thanks,

Moved to xcelsius forum. It may need to be posted in the BOE Admin forum.

  • No Crystal Report data returned in the InfoView - Critical Issue

    Hey all,
We have been trying to solve this issue since 2 weeks after updating the licenses in our BOBJ dev/production environment.
There are a handful of Crystal Reports in the production environment based on a SAP ECC Infoset. The crystal reports have a combination of static and dynamic filters based on Business Views. All the reports return data in the client tool; however the same reports do not return data in the infoview. The users have administrator privileges.
We tried patching our BOBJ env to the latest fix packs, change database configuration, rebuilt reports and yet face the same issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

We figured out the issue. All the reports had a flag which was not interpreted by the Infoview. Removing the flag in the reports solved the problem.
This is an active known issue with Business Objects according to the SAP note :
1440703 - Boolean Parameter values in .NET InfoView are wrong
The latest fix packs has not resolved the issue yet.
    Thank you
    Vinny

  • Crystal report - Data display issue

    Hi all,
I did a crystal report. the labels in the crystal report are
                    QTR1  QTR2  QTR3  QTR4
If I select  the prompt value as QTR3, the values should display under QTR3, but data is displaying under QTR1
If I select  the prompt value as QTR3 and QTR4, the values should display under QTR3 and QTR4 columns, but data is displaying under QTR1& QTR2.
i.e., the data is displaying in an order starting from first column.
Please let me know if I need to change any prompt settings to get the data in the order I needed.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Viswa

there are 2 ways this can be done.
do they only run one qtr at a time?
you can create a group for each quarter
create a parameter to pull by quarter.
in the record selection place this statement
    (if {@qtr}=0 then true else = {@qtr})
in the parameter place 0 if the qtr is numeric value otherwise place ALL (replace the 0 in the record selection with all if necc)
this will retrieve all the qtrs or the qtr specified.
if you create groupings for the qtrs place the value of the qtr in the details section below where you want to display qtr 2.
you will need to create formulas to differentiate the qtrs.
if qtr1 in date to date then $ amount
create a formula for all qtrs. this will display the dollar or value for the qtr date range only. otherwise a zero or null will be displayed.
right click on the section and go to section expert
in supress section click on the formual button
if qtr=1 then true. (keep in mind it is a supression formula so true will supress the qtr, false will display)
then on the values in the the detail section you can supress those based upon a formula also like above.

  • SAP tab in Crystal Reports 2013 issue

We are using SAP Crystal Reports 2013 SP3 to build reports on BEX queries (BW 7.2). Creating a report via 'File' --> New connection --> BW MDX driver works fine, I can select bex queries & cubes and see the data. However SAP provided tab 'SAP' does not work as expected. When adding a new bex query using SAP--> Create new report from a query, I can see the list of queries and select one but it does not open and throws the following error -
"An error occurred while generating a new report templete.
    No error"
Using the "File" option any change to the .rpt file forces BO admin to update "DB logon" information in CMC (currently i cannot save .rpt file directly on enterprise from Crystal client due to some issue)  and we want to avoid this kind of maintainence using SAP authentication provided by using SAP tab, also the Crysal report prompts when run from BI launch pad request for prompt values twice (once for the report and once to pull list of values for each prompt) which can be avoided using SAP tab. I thought access to dev BW server is fine since the "File" tab works fine. Our BASIS team confirmed BOBJ dev servers have access to BW gateway. Am I missing something here, please help me with your experience and ideas to troubleshoot this as the only solution i could google was from a 2012 SAP recommended article to fix reginfo configuration files on SAP server
I reinstalled Crystal Reports client twice to make sure intallation was not the issue.
    Thanks
    GORO.

    Hi Abhilash,
    Thanks for your response.
Yes reports are working in CR 2013 designer.
Getting Alignment and long spaces between the paragraphs issues even though report has properly designed on designer.
After exporting to pdf getting above errors...

  • How to change crystal report data field at runtime ?

    Hello everyone,
I have a Crystal Report file ,which i am using to generate report for my windows form project .
In that report i have a filed called as Quantity which data type is set as decimal, the requirement is like that the number of value those comes after decimal point that should be set according to the value which is given by the user at the run time .
For eg: If user gives 1 at the run time then the report Qty field value set one value after decimal point. Like 12.1
if user gives 2 then Qty field the value is 12.22 like tat  but user can give from zero to any number.. and if it is zero it should not show decimal
Note: The main idea hear is how to change the filed in Crystal Report decimal point value by using code(or we say writing code we need to set manually as user input it will change)
Can any body help me how to solve this issue .
    S.K Nayak

I think you could probably make the field you see a formula field and take a parameter as the number of decimal places.
totext converts a number to a string.
    totext({decimalField}, 2)
    That's 2 decimal places.
You could probably substitute a {parameter} for that 2.
If not then you could substitute an entire formula.
    To explore formulas:
    foreach (FormulaFieldDefinition f in rpt.DataDefinition.FormulaFields)
    MessageBox.Show(f.Name);
    // f.Text = your new formula
Where rpt is an instantiated report.
Or add another string field which you display in the column and do the calculation with the original decimal.
    Hope that helps.

  • Crystal report extremely slow after converting to SQL connection

We have a VB application developed in Visual Studio 2005 that references:
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine v. 12.0.2000.0
    CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework v. 12.0.1100.0
    CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoStore v. 12.0.1100.0
    CrystalDecisions.ReportSource v. 12.0.2000.0
    CrystalDecisions.Shared v. 12.0.2000.0
    CrystalDecision.Windows.Forms v. 12.0.2000.0
This application originally used ADO to connect to our SQL Server database.  I recently converted to a SQL connection so I can take advantage of table-valued parameters in SQL Server 2008.  After the conversion, some of our Crystal Reports now take up to 3 minutes to load, but only on some usersu2019 PCs.  Prior to the change, the reports only took a matter of seconds, and they still take only a matter of seconds on my development PC.  We have looked at all the settings we can think of on the slow PCs but so far have found no smoking gun.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?  Does anyone have any suggestions for how to find the problem?

    Hi Gina,
Ah, that is why you are having problems. We had to fix CR so it would support MS SQL 2008. Not sure what version you are using but you need to install Service Pack 3 and then Fix Pack 3.5. Then CR will retain the SQLNCLI10 as it's data driver.
And what I mean is once you update CR have your report writers open each report and set location to the new DSN or old DSN with the updated 10 driver and then verify the reports and save. This will update the RPT files so the 10 client is used.
To get updated, and assuming you are on an early release the best way is to keep track of your keycode, uninstlal CR 2008 and then download CR SP 3 and FP 3.5:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006341722011E/cr2008fp35.exe
If you are on SP 2 then you can use the incremental SP 3 and then FP 3.5
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123572010E/cr2008_sp3.exe

  • Crystal Report XI crashes after several printings.

I'm using Visual Studio 2003 with Crystal Report XI for reports.  My problem is, after printing around 30+ reports, with 4pages each, CR tends to crash.  I'm suspecting a memory leak, how do I fix this?

    Hi Tony,
    Try with this:
Run a command prompt as administrator. From the start menu, select "All Programs", then "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator". From here you can use the following command to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the following command:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
Keeping your command prompt open, run your setup or other process being stopped by DEP. Then, to turn it back on again, do the same and run the following:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn
Its a known issue with vista operating system and this is workaround for it.
    Hope that helps!!

    Shweta

  • Universe based Crystal report date prompt appears as DateTime

I have faced this issue in all XI versions and was hoping there is a solution for this in XI 3.1 and/or Crystal 2008.
There is a date dimension in a universe which is tied to a datetime datatype on the backend SQL server field.  If a Crystal report (XI,2008) uses this date dimension as a prompt, the prompt created in Crystal report is of type Date Time and therefore when the report is ran, the required syntax for this prompt is with timestamp.  There was a fix for a similar issue in XI R2 Fix Pack 3.3 by creating a useDateInsteadOfDateTime registry key and setting its value to the DSN of the ODBC based universe connection.  I could never get that to work by the way.
Any ideas on how to change the prompt data type to Date without the timestamp in XI 3.1 and Crystal 2008 reports?
    Thanks.

    Hi Farhan Jaffery
Have you tried to change the object defination in universe level and crate a prompt and check.
Also try to use Add Command to retrive the database field with only date and create a prompt.
    Thanks,
    Sastry
