Crystal Reports prompt single value variable from BEX

Hi,
after upgrade to BO 4.1 SP2 Patch 3 the prompt from BEX variable in CR doesn't work.
After investigation the issue is happened for variables containing more than 9 values.
Bex Setting: Variable -> Details -> Variable Represents -> Single value
Variable which shows Jan-Dec
The issue happens only on CR file stored in BO server in Cr design time it works fine.
Is the bug known? Is there any solution?
Harald

Yep.
Now tell me how you want to show that Prompt @ WebI report level.
My problem is that in WebI selection screen we get list of date values from the info provider instead of Calendar prompt
where user can enter the values directly. Exactly, i didn't get this??
@Prompt:
You have flexibility to show options like:
Mono/Multi: User can select Single value or Multiple.
BW Variable: Same we have (Single/Multiple)
Free/Constrained: User can Enter his/her value directly or No change option.
BW Variable: By defalut you will get this, once you made it to Optional input.
Persistent/Not_Persistent: Refreshed report has to show last selected value means use Persistent otherwise Not_P.
By seeing the Prompt syntax , I can say your Variable is after Customer Exit, Correct??
Workaround for your Problem is:
<FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A','Date\LovDate (Previous Day)Base',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
You have to remove that Date class and objects from prompt syntax. Because of that it showing up LOV's not calendar.
Like:
<FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A',',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
Why, It should be blank??
Because Date needs no class\object to show up, by default you will get Calendar on the fly.
Hope you got my point.
Thank You!!

  • Calendar prompt for Date variable from bex

    Hi All,
    I have a Bex query where I have a variable on 0CALDAY
    - Customer exit (i_step = 1 to populate with current date)
    - Single value
    - Mandatory
    I created universe on this query and in webI selection screen i do see the variable prompt.
    I am not able to see the current date populated automatically since exit values are not populated to WebI at runtime.
    My problem is that in WebI selection screen we get list of date values from the info provider instead of Calendar prompt
    where user can enter the values directly.
    I am currently on BO XI 3.1 SP3.
    Is there any specific setting in Universe or bex query which is required to get this Calendar prompt instead of list of values for dates?
    Note: When we were on SP1 the universe created then had same variable from bex and it still shows us Calendar prompt but ever since we upgraded to SP3 for the query splitter functionality we not able to get the calendar prompt for date variable in new universe we create
    Thanks

  • Need to remove prompts which is comes from Bex query

    Dear Experts,
    Currently i am working in webi report (4.0 SP2), Back end of this webi report is SAP Bex query, created by using BICS Connection. In bex query we have created different variables on Company code,vendor, business area, key date etc. from this company code and key date are mandatory variables.
    My Bex users need input screen to execute the report as per their requirement. But my webi users don't required any prompts. they want to manipulate data by using input controls.
    Req : How to avoid variables (Prompts) which is coming from bex?
    Regards,
    PRK.

    Hi Praveen,
    As per my knowledge, We can not remove mandatory BEx variables from the Webi prompt screen. Value for mandatory Query Variable has to be pass from Webi report.
    You can create another Bex Query without any variable and need to use for reporting in Webi.

  • Crystal report : Export to Text format from BI Launch pad

    Hi,
    We are facing issue in exporting the Crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad view mode. Currently BI launch pad doesn’t support export to Text format option for crystal report in view mode. But export to text format option is feasible in schedule mode. But customer is not interested in exporting the reports through schedule mode.
    Please advise, if we have any alternative way of exporting the crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad.
    Thanks,

    Hi Chinnu,
    The question is better suited to be asked in the BI Platform space.

  • How to avoid SYSTEM_NO_TASK_STORAGE  with multiple single values variable

    Hi experts,
    I am trying to do a distribution with reference data standart SAP function.
    Fields to be changed:
    ZPDHIER2 (Economic Group II)
    ZPDHIER3 (Economic Group III)
    ZPDCLIENT (Client)
    Fields for condition:
    KEY FIGURE NAME
    Fields for reference:
    KEY FIGURE NAME
    ZPDSTATUS (Status)
    FISCPER3 (Fiscal Period)
    The parameters group is like:
    Fields for condition:
    Key figure: ZM_070 (one of the key figures)
    Fields for reference:
    Key figure: ZMONT_TN
    FISCPER3: 001
    Status: DE
    - "Only distribute not assigned" is checked
    I do not want the data to be distributed by any ZPDHIER2, ZPDHIER3 and ZPDCLIENT so I have restricted these characteristics in the planning level by some variables. These variables are user exit type and return multiple single values.
    The issue regarding this message is that when I execute this function, depending on the size of the data brought by ZPDCLIENT user exit variable, this dump might or might not occur. As for the testing I've done, i realize that if the number of clients exceed 500, dump will occur.
    This multiple single values variable (or any other solution) must be prepared for 3900 clients, and this number is expected to increase.
    Anyone have faced same problem?
    Hope you can provide me some help regarding this issue.
    Tanks in advance,
    André Oliveira

    Hi Wadih saad,
    I think the memory is not suffcient to hold the load. Check your swap space and memory during the client export and also check whether there is sufficient space in the hard disk to hold the export files.
    You must have calculated the client size by using the test run. This size must be available as free space in hard disk to do the export.
    Make the available space and do the export it will work.

    Maheswaran J

  • Multiple single values variable

    Hello all
    I want to execute planning sequence throue button in my analyzer workbook.There is a multiple single values variable in the function. I know the regular way to write variable's value in excel: VAR_VALUE_1    1       Value. What is the format for a  multiple single values variable ?
    Best

    Hello,
    You can try this
    Enter VAR_NAME_1 in the Name column and the technical name of the variable in the Value column.
    Enter VAR_LINES_1 in the Name column and the number of values to be passed in the Value column.
    Enter VAR_NAME_2 in the Name column and the technical name of the variable in the Value column.
    Enter VAR_LINES_2 in the Name column and the number of values to be passed in the Value column.
    Now, in excel sheet in 3 consecutive columns enter the fields as below:
    VAR_VALUE_1, <index> and <value1>
    VAR_VALUE_1, <index> and <value2>
    VAR_VALUE_1, <index> and <value3> etc.
    and similarly for second variable:
    VAR_VALUE_2, <index> and <value1>
    VAR_VALUE_2, <index> and <value2>
    VAR_VALUE_2, <index> and <value3> etc.
    You can specify the above cell range in command range as it is done in the static parameters window. In Excel sheet hide these cells and use cell references to other cells for the variable values to provide a more user friendly appearance.

  • Single Crystal Report based on Five different SAP BEx Quries.

    Hi,
    I need to create 5 different Charts (in a single report)  based on five different SAP BW BEx Queries. These are charts with 3- axes i.e. X,Y,Z.
    The example requirement is to create Line charts (Vertical Mixed Line Charts) and deatils are as follows: The chart should show CPU Utilization % for different servers (eg. Servers1,2,3,4,5) for each day in a particular month.
    Axes details:
    X- Axis - Date eg: 01 /09/2010 to 30/09/2010
    Y-Axis - CPU Utilisation Percent
    Z-Axis - Servers from 1 to 5
    The above detailed chart comes from a BEx Query . In this way there are four more BEx queries which should give four other charts.
    My queries are:
    1. Is this possible to create a single report using five different BEx queries and Create 5 different charts(one chart from each BEx Query) in a single tab as in the current manual report.(All the five Line charts should be downloadable to a single sheet in Excel)
    2. One more, should I use Crystal Reports only? The charts are of high format natute so Web Intelligence will not produce the same.  Is any other tool that helps for this requirement.
    3. I can create five different Universes based on BEx Queries. Is this possible to create a single report from five different Universes.
    Please advise.
    Nanda Kishore.
    Edited by: Nanda Kishore B on Oct 21, 2010 8:05 AM

    To start with you cannot use SAP BW universes in Crystal Reports., YOu have to use the BW MDX driver.
    For performance reasons I would suggest to add 4 subreports into your main reports containing each on of the 4 remaining charts.

  • Crystal Report Prompt For Enter Parameter Values

    Hi,
    I did a report with 2 subreports embeded in VS2005 using VB and it worked fine but when I ported the whole application to VS2008 the above problem occurs. Here are some codes:
        Private Sub btnPreview_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnPreview.Click
            Dim viewer As New frmReportPreview
            Dim rpt As New ReportDocument
            Try
                rpt.Load("C:\Report\crptMain.rpt")
                rpt.SetParameterValue("Code", Me.cbxCode.Text)
                rpt.SetParameterValue("Code", Me.cbxCode.Text, "crptSubReport1.rpt")
                rpt.SetParameterValue("Code", Me.cbxCode.Text, "crptSubReport2.rpt")
                viewer.report = rpt
                viewer.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
                viewer.ShowDialog()
            Catch crptEx As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.EngineException
                MessageBox.Show(crptEx.Message, "Crystal Report Errors...")
            Catch ex As Exception
                MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Crystal Report Errors...")
            End Try
        End Sub
    Private Sub frmReportPreview_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
            Dim rpt As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            Try
                Me.CrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = m_report
                Me.CrystalReportViewer.RefreshReport()
            Catch ex As Exception
                MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Error...")
            End Try
        End Sub

    Subreport Parameters are contained within the Main Report's ParameterFieldDefinitions collection. Passing Subreport Parameter values directly to the Subreport will result in the values not being applied and the user being prompted at runtime to provide new values.

  • Crystal Reports prompting for creds when viewed from BO 4

    The environment:
    Business Objects Enterprise 4, sp2 patch 8
    SAP ECC 6.0, kernel 701, sup. pkg. lvl 137
    This is a new BOE 4 installation on a test system.  The BOE installation has been configured to use Windows AD authentication with SSO.  When I run a Crystal Report that is based on SAP ECC data, I am prompted for credentials.  So I used the following document to configure BOE for SSO to DB:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/HowtosetupSSOagainstSAPBWinSBOBI4.0forLDAPusers
    This didn't fix the problem.  SAP ECC reports in BOE still prompt for creds when viewed.  SAP Authentication is verifiably working, but I'm not sure if SSO to DB is working.  One thing I've noticed is that when I log in to BOE using SAP authentication and view the report, I'm not prompted for creds.  In BOE I added my Windows AD acct as an alias in my SAP acct, but I may have either done this incorrectly, or there may be something I need to do in addition.
    question 1:  Is there an easy way to verify if SSO to DB is working correctly?
    question 2:  In CMC --> Authentication --> SAP --> Entitlement Systems --> User Name, I'm assuming that this is an SAP user name.  What roles/profiles does this account need?  Should it be a dialog acct?
    question 3:  Our ECC system is configured to use SNC.  Do I need to configure SNC in BOE for SSO to DB to work?
    question 4:  I added my Windows AD user as an alias on my SAP user record.  I'm not sure this is correct...  can someone verify?
    Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

    Thanks, Ingo.  Once I got snc configured, everything began working wonderfully.
    I used this document as a guide:

  • Crystal reports prompt issue

    Hi  All,
    I had created the simple crystal report by connecting to  bex query (with prompts).
    For example in my  crystal  report ,circle prompt  as below list of values
    Values                                  Description
    [YPES_AREA].[ANPR]     Andhra Pradesh Circle
    [YPES_AREA].[ASSM]     Assam
    [YPES_AREA].[BIAR]     Bihar
    [YPES_AREA].[CHAI]     Chennai
    [YPES_AREA].[CHRH]     Chattisgarh
    [YPES_AREA].[CORP]     Corporate
    [YPES_AREA].[DLHI]     Delhi & NCRs Circle
    [YPES_AREA].[EAST]     East Region
    At the time of preview,user can select the above list of  value ,so that the corresponding  prompt value need to display in the report.
    Here i want to known,when user select the "Assam" circle in the above list of values,prompt value is showing as "[YPES_AREA].[ASSM]" but i want to show it as a description instead of technical name.
    please suggest me is it possible or not?
    Regards,
    Vinay

    Unfortunately the "description" is only available in the LoV and cannot be accessed for use on the report (I believe there is an Idea Place suggestion concerning this very issue...) but there are work arounds.
    If the LoV is a static list it's fairly easy. Just use the following formula:
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.ANPR" THEN "Andhra Pradesh Circle" ELSE
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.ASSM"THEN "Assam" ELSE
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.BIAR" THEN "Bihar" ELSE
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.CHAI" THEN "Chennai" ELSE
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.CHRH" THEN "Chattisgarh" ELSE
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.CORP" THEN "Corporate" ELSE
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.DLHI" THEN "Delhi & NCRs Circle" ELSE
    IF {?ParameterName} = "YPES_AREA.EAST" THEN "East Region"
    If your LoVs are dynamic it's a little trickier... and I've never tried it using a data warehouse...
    but I've always done it using a separate SQL Command. Something along these lines
    SELECT
    FieldUsedInTheDescription
    FROM TableName
    WHERE FieldUsedAsTheValue  = {?Parameter}
    Still pretty simple as long as the parameter only accepts a single value.
    If the parameter accepts multiple values you need to use a sub-report.

  • Crystal Report - problem with passing parameters from J2EE app

    i'm trying to pass a few parameters from my java application to a crystal report using the code below:
    ParameterField pfield1 = new ParameterField();
    ParameterField pfield2 = new ParameterField();
    Values vals1 = new Values();
    Values vals2 = new Values();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV1 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV2 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    pfieldDV1.setValue("1056");//dform.getSelectedPeriod());
    pfieldDV1.setDescription("termId");
    vals1.add(pfieldDV1);
    pfield1.setReportName("");
    pfield1.setName("@p_termId");
    pfield1.setCurrentValues(vals1);
    fields.add(pfield1);
    // check here for null condition otherwise will throw nullpointerexception
    pfieldDV2.setValue("elect");
    pfieldDV2.setDescription("allocType");
    vals2.add(pfieldDV2);
    pfield2.setReportName("");
    pfield2.setName("@p_allocType");
    pfield2.setCurrentValues(vals2);
    fields.add(pfield2);
    this report calls a stored procedure (sql server). the report displays the data but the same is not the case when i call ity from my java application. with a single parameter it works fine (even though i get a "Some parameters are missing values" ERROR on the console. But when i pass, say 2 parameters, it give me the above error first and then "JDBC Error: Parameter 2 not set or registered for output"
    Can anyone bail me out of this one?
    thanks,
    ptalkad

    I don't know about naming conventions, but could the @ signs in the variable names cause a problem?
    How have you set up the mapping in Crystal?
    Is this parameter 2 an "out" parameter returning a value?
    What version of Java are you using?
    Version of Crystal?
    What JDBC driver?

  • How can we Restict the Char single value Variables with , , =

    Hi Experts,
    How can we Restict the Char value Variables with <, >, <=  (without selecting Inverval or only passing single value)
    For Example
    We have a standard Query 0FIAR_C03_Q1005, in this
    New Selection
    "1 - 15 Days, Posting Date<=Key Date, Clearing Date>Key Date"
    This is restricted  with the
    Clearing(0CLEAR_DATE)
    <Clearing key date(0P_KEYD3)  It is a single value SAP Exit Varible
    PostingDate(0PSTNG_DATE)
      <= Posting keydate(0P_KEYD3)  It is a single value SAP Exit Varible
    When seeing these 0P_KEYD3, 0P_KEYD3 variables in the New selection screen they looks like  >0P_KEYD3, <=0PSTNG_DATE
    if you define any custom variables these are looks like =ZV_DATE.
    to enable < , >, <= symbols for variables what we need to do.
    In other way
    Say we created one variable ZV_DATE single value, processing type as customer exit.
    for this we populated current day,
    Now Requirement is we need to display the all the records which are <= current date,
    instead of passing low and high values, i want to restrict the calday <=ZV_DATE
    New selection
    0calday
      <=ZV_DATE
    How can we achive this, this is how the business content report having the restrictions
    Please sugget me.

    Ok,
    In the InfoObject 0calday in the query designer under the filter area, under characteristic restrictions right-click over that InfoObject (0calday).
    In the next window (select Values for [0CALDAY]  Calendar Day in the dropdown box for "Show" choose Value Ranges. Under the word "Between"  dropdown box select "Less than or equal to"
    Below that word click on the button of the dropdown box Select from list.
    In the new window select instead of History Variables and double-click on your variable ZV_DATE.
    Click on the right blue arrow to move it to the right.
    And there you go.
    Tip: It exists a SAP standard variable named 0DAT which is exactly the current date (don't need to use ZV_DATE variable).
    Diogo.

  • Dashboard Prompt using values not from the table

    Hi,
    I have a requirement from the client to design a dashboard report like the following.
    Dashboard prompt will have 4 filters, three filters come from the table, but the fourth filter will have 3 values not from the table. The fourth filter will have values like "Report with Sales Amount", "Report with Purchase Amount", "Report with both Purchase and Sales". I have three different Table reports designed for each of the fourth filter choices. But how do I implement it, both in the dashboard prompt as well as navigating to the rite report based on the selection.
    Is my approach correct.
    Thanks for your time and help.

    The fourth prompt where you have "Report with Sales Amount", "Report with Purchase Amount", "Report with both Purchase and Sales" you pull a dummy column into the prompt and write a sql in show.
    would be something like
    SELECT Case when 1=0 then "Dimension- Customer"."Cust Name" else 'Report with Sales Amount' end FROM Sales UNION SELECT Case when 1=0 then "Dimension- Customer"."Cust Name" else 'Report with Purchase Amount' end FROM Sales
    and in the prompt set a presentation variable say var_criteria
    Now create report2 for with a some randomn column and another column will have the values that you want to display for example 'Report with Sales Amount'
    Create a filter on the 2nd column and reference the presentation variable var_criteria and default it to 'Report with Sales Amount'
    On the dashboard page in the section place the report and enable guided navigatoin by selecting report 2.
    Please let me know if you have any questions.
    thanks,

  • Crystal Report prompts for username / pwd when deployed to Bus Obj Server

    Hi All,
    I'm relatively new to Crystal Reports development.  My day job is test analyst.  I'm reasonably technically proficient.
    PROBLEM
    I have created a number of Crytsal Reports which have now been deployed to an Enterprise Business Objects Report Server.  The Server is Business Objects Server XI release 2.
    When I run the report in Crystal Reports Desiger 2008 it does not prompt me to enter the database credentials except if I have modified the SQL command or some other report detail.  Most times I run the report, no database username / pwd is required because I already set this up in the datasource config.
    I' connecting to an Oracle database using ODBC (RDO) connection type.  I cannot get the ODBC (RDO) connection type working from my PC using Crystal Reports Designer 2008, because I don't have ODBC configured for my datasource.  Instead, Im using the native Oracle Server driver to connect to my datasource.
    An existing user in the client organisation configured my report to use the ODBC (RDO) conneciton type for me because the Business Objects Server in the client organisation does not (currently) support the native Oracle driver.  Other reports this user has created and deployed using the ODBC conenction type run successfully without prompting user to enter the database connection credentials.
    NOTE:
    This report users an SQL Command (new to Crystal 2008 I beleive?).  The command is reqiured for this report due to the complexity of the underlying SQL query.
    Does anybody know why the report keeps prompting me to enter the database credentials at runtime?  Obviously for security reasons I don't want report users to have to enter the database schema name and password in order to run the report.

    Hi,
    You need to uncheck "Propmt the user for database logon when viewing". You will find this when you deploy the report on the BOE XI R2.
    The deployment step main heading is
    Specify Databse Crendentials.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks
