Crystal Reports regression to 10.5 from 11.5

I'm a long time user that went with the full version of Crystal Report 11.5 to have use of the stand along viewer instead of merge modules with VS2005. Now, with VS2008/CR10.5 the viewer (for deployment) exists both for x86 and x64 platforms. This is great. And, appears to work good.
I'm not having the same experience with VS2008 and CR2008 (v12.0). The problem is deploying on a 64 bit machine. Nothing seems to work. I get an runtime error message stating that permissions are insufficient or that the viewer was not installed correctly.
So, given the fact that VS2008/CR2008-Basic now does what previous version should have done -- how do I migrate by 11.5 reports back to 10.5?
Thanks,
Eric

There are a couple of things in here to consider;
how do I migrate by 11.5 reports back to 10.5?
Not sure that you'd want to. If the 11.5 reports use a feature that is not in CR 10.5, you will at minimum get weird reports, at worst the reports will throw error messages.
Thus, I think the place to start is with troubleshooting the issue when you run CR 2008;
make sure you have at least SP 1 installed;
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006555792009E/cr2008win_sp1.exe
SP2 is here;
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009038092009E/cr2008win_sp2.exe
make sure you have the correct runtime installed. see [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki for download links.
check out [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10d5fa88-2013-2c10-c9a5-f11963607d4e] article re. running CR on 64 bit OS.
If none of the above helps, let me know the exact error message / behavior, etc. on that 64 bit OS. Also, search these forums for 64 bit - there is a number of threads that may also point you in the right direction.

  • Crystal report : Export to Text format from BI Launch pad

    Hi,
    We are facing issue in exporting the Crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad view mode. Currently BI launch pad doesn’t support export to Text format option for crystal report in view mode. But export to text format option is feasible in schedule mode. But customer is not interested in exporting the reports through schedule mode.
    Please advise, if we have any alternative way of exporting the crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad.
    Thanks,
    Chinnu A

    Hi Chinnu,
    The question is better suited to be asked in the BI Platform space.

  • Crystal Report - problem with passing parameters from J2EE app

    i'm trying to pass a few parameters from my java application to a crystal report using the code below:
    ParameterField pfield1 = new ParameterField();
    ParameterField pfield2 = new ParameterField();
    Values vals1 = new Values();
    Values vals2 = new Values();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV1 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue pfieldDV2 = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    pfieldDV1.setValue("1056");//dform.getSelectedPeriod());
    pfieldDV1.setDescription("termId");
    vals1.add(pfieldDV1);
    pfield1.setReportName("");
    pfield1.setName("@p_termId");
    pfield1.setCurrentValues(vals1);
    fields.add(pfield1);
    // check here for null condition otherwise will throw nullpointerexception
    pfieldDV2.setValue("elect");
    pfieldDV2.setDescription("allocType");
    vals2.add(pfieldDV2);
    pfield2.setReportName("");
    pfield2.setName("@p_allocType");
    pfield2.setCurrentValues(vals2);
    fields.add(pfield2);
    this report calls a stored procedure (sql server). the report displays the data but the same is not the case when i call ity from my java application. with a single parameter it works fine (even though i get a "Some parameters are missing values" ERROR on the console. But when i pass, say 2 parameters, it give me the above error first and then "JDBC Error: Parameter 2 not set or registered for output"
    Can anyone bail me out of this one?
    thanks,
    ptalkad

    I don't know about naming conventions, but could the @ signs in the variable names cause a problem?
    How have you set up the mapping in Crystal?
    Is this parameter 2 an "out" parameter returning a value?
    What version of Java are you using?
    Version of Crystal?
    What JDBC driver?

  • Crystal Report Print Engine API calls  from Powerbuilder

    I am using Crystal Report XI R2 with Powerbuilder 9.0. I  am using Crystal Report API calls using crpe32.dll to display my reports. When i run my reports from my development machine where Crystal Reports is installed the reports run properly, but when i deploy my application on a server where Crystal Reports is not installed the report gives me error "Report has not been opened" , Error 599.
    The database logon info is properly set in the RPT file.
    I want to know whether it is possible to run reports without installing Crystal Reports and how do you do it?

    Somehow, you will have to install the CR runtime...
    Probably the best way will be to create a deployment project using a utility such as InstallShield,  Wise, MS Visual Installer, etc. Use the RDC merge modules and  add the crpe32.dll to the deployment project, ensuring the crpe32.dll is installed into the ...\3.5\bin directory. The Correct msm files are here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009381702008E/crxir2sp4_rdc_mm.zip
    BTW., using the print engine APIs... Not something recommended, nor supported. Last header files for the crpe APIs shipped in version 9...

  • Crystal Reports - Failed to retrieve data from the database

    Hi There,
    I'm hoping that somebody can help me.
    I've developed a crystal report from a stored procedure which I wrote. I can execute the stored procedure within SQL Server and within the Crystal Reports designer without any errors. Furthermore, I have imported the report into sap and can run it within SAP from the server without any errors. SAP version 8.81 PL5
    The issue is that when it's run from a client machine, I get the following error: "Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: Database Vendor Code: 156. Error in the File RCR10010 {tempfile location}
    Here's a list of things which I have tried, all to no avail:
    - Checked user permissions to ensure that they have proper authorizations
    - Re-set the datasource connection and re-imported the report to SAP.
    - Exported the report and reviewed the datasource connection and re-imported to SAP.
    - Tried to run the report on multiple machines to ensure that it's not machine specific
    - Tried to run the report using different users to ensure it's not user specific.
    - Tested other reports built from stored procedures on client machines to ensure that they work.
    Any assistance in this would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thank you

    After further testing, we found that the report could be run within SAP on any work station which had the CR designer installed on it.
    As it turns out, the procedure which I wrote has temp tables in it.  The runtimes built into the SAP client install do not support creating temp tables when executing the report from within SAP.  Which is why the report could not retreive data.
    To work around this, I installed external runtimes which were the same version of the Crystal Report and now the report can be run within SAP from any workstation which has the external runtimes (and not just the runtimes within the SAP client).
    I hope this makes sense.

  • Crystal Report - More than one table from MySql

    Hello, I am in need of help big time.
    I have am using Visual Studio 2010 and Crystal Report 10.
    The problem that I am incounting is that I am unable to retreive data from more than one table from a MySql database. I have been stuck on this for too long and need to hjump the hurdle.
    I am using a MySql connection string, a dataset and a crystal report which is based on the dataset.
    The main error that I am having is, the browser opens and a form appears saying "The report you requetsed requires further information" With the Server name: DataSetPropertiesDetials, while the User name and Password fields are then enabled.
    I am guessing I am missing something in my code.
    When I retreive data from one table the report is fine, but when I try to use more than one table it throws the error.
    My Code is below and also attached:

    Hi,
    You have 3 SQL commands but you are calling SetDataSource only once.  You need to look through for each of the SQL Commands.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 fails when called from e Web Service under 64bit OS

    I have discovered that Crystal Reports 2008 doesn't work when called from a Web Service running under 64bit Windows platforms (in my case Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP 64bit); practically no object is instantiated. I've tried several solutions without success.
    Before creating a wrapper component to use under COM+, is there anybody who has a better and cheaper solution than creating another component to wrap CR 2008 ?

    Hi Sergio,
    Before I mark this post as assumed answered I would just like to say and re-iterate that at this time there is no one answer and we fully understand your concerns. As you know in CR 6.0 it came in 16 and 32 bit versions because at the time 32 bit was relatively new but 16 bit was the norm. This is also true for 32 to 64 bit, 32 is the norm and 64 bit is relatively new. We know and are well aware 64 bit is the future and we are working as quickly as we can to move in that direction. Because of the complexity of the Product it's not simply a matter of re-compiling all of our dll's in 64 bit format. The core of our data connectivity with our database drivers which are dependant on third party clients must also need to support 64 bit modes. This as well as Printer drivers also need to be 64 compatable, there are a multitude of dependencies that we rely on that must add 64 bit support. As a programmer you are well aware of the issues around Thunking back and forth between 32 to 64 bits, it can cause delays and potentially loss of data which is a whole other issue. Not to mention also that we would have to ship both versions potentially doubling the size of the distribution packages or doubling the size of the dll's to have the ability to work in both modes. Relatively speaking of course, it would not be double the size but the variables would need to be able to allocate 32 or 64 memory blocks.
    The other option is to produce 2 separate versions, this alone is a massive project. Any issue would need to be fixed in separate code streams.
    So I'm sure you can see it's not simply a matter of saying yes we support 64 bit. It's a massive project that is going to take time to do and we have to wait for the third party drivers to commit also.
    Visual Studio .NET 2005 and 2008 is the only option if you want true 64 bit but you will be limited on what DB's you can support and export formats you can export to. They are the only drivers we did convert to 64 bit.
    Thank you for your understanding
    Don

  • Printing a Crystal Report XI in Business Objects from Access (VB)

    Post Author: karene
    CA Forum: Other
    I have a report that is stored in the BusinessObjects (and I'm new to this system).  I can open it from Access using VB, by running iexplore.exe and giving it the correct URL:
    stAppName = "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe " & GetReclassificationReportURL() & _        "&lsS@type=site&lsS@id=" & SiteId    Call Shell(stAppName, 1)
    where the GetReclassificationReportURL returns something like https://xidesign.ourdomain/businessobjects/enterprise115/InfoView/scripts/OpenDocument.aspx?iDocID=24321825
    This opens Crystal, and they can view or print the report.  However, when they were using the corresponding Access report, it would print for them directly.  They could press a print button, and it would come out on their default printer.  Can I do that using Crystal?  How?  (I'm using Access 2003, and VB 6.3)
    Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

  • Crystal Reports prompt single value variable from BEX

    Hi,
    after upgrade to BO 4.1 SP2 Patch 3 the prompt from BEX variable in CR doesn't work.
    After investigation the issue is happened for variables containing more than 9 values.
    Bex Setting: Variable -> Details -> Variable Represents -> Single value
    Variable which shows Jan-Dec
    The issue happens only on CR file stored in BO server in Cr design time it works fine.
    Is the bug known? Is there any solution?
    Harald

    Yep.
    Now tell me how you want to show that Prompt @ WebI report level.
    My problem is that in WebI selection screen we get list of date values from the info provider instead of Calendar prompt
    where user can enter the values directly. Exactly, i didn't get this??
    @Prompt:
    You have flexibility to show options like:
    Mono/Multi: User can select Single value or Multiple.
    BW Variable: Same we have (Single/Multiple)
    Free/Constrained: User can Enter his/her value directly or No change option.
    BW Variable: By defalut you will get this, once you made it to Optional input.
    Persistent/Not_Persistent: Refreshed report has to show last selected value means use Persistent otherwise Not_P.
    By seeing the Prompt syntax , I can say your Variable is after Customer Exit, Correct??
    Workaround for your Problem is:
    <FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A','Date\LovDate (Previous Day)Base',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
    You have to remove that Date class and objects from prompt syntax. Because of that it showing up LOV's not calendar.
    Like:
    <FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A',',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
    Why, It should be blank??
    Because Date needs no class\object to show up, by default you will get Calendar on the fly.
    Hope you got my point.
    Thank You!!

  • Open a Crystal Report preview from an Add-on

    Hi All,
    I'm just trying to open a Crystal Report preview using a button from my add-on.
    I want to use the SAP Crystal report, (the runtime integrated with SAP 8.8)
    Basically I have my report created, so I need to create the object, pass the parameters and open an screen with my preview.
    The main idea is open this Crystal report object when the addon starts and then just use that object.
    I've found an example with this object SAPbobsCOM.ReportLayoutsService but this is for SAP 8.8.1 and I'm working with 8.8. I don't know if i can use SAPbobsCOM.ReportLayout.
    I need a simple example please.
    Thanks .

    Hi,
    Have you read through this: View Crystal Report from add-on ?
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Passing parameters from vb form to a crystal report with stored procedure

    Can someone give me an idea how to use data inputted on vb form to be use as basis of crystal report generation which loads data from a stored procedure. Stored procedure has parameters that was also set in the crystal report. viewing on crystal report is ok but i am having difficulty running the report from vb.

    Hi John,
                  If Not CRRpt.ParameterFields("AgeType") Is Nothing Then
                        CRRpt.ParameterFields("AgeType").CurrentValues.Clear()
                        Dim ParamValue As new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterDiscreteValue
                        ParamValue.Value = AgeType.ToString
                        CRRpt.ParameterFields("AgeType").CurrentValues.Add(ParamValue)
                    End If
    Note that the ParamValue.Value should be assigned with exact same data type as you declared it in CR.
    If it is string, Convert your Variable to string first.
    If it is date, make sure you are passing a date variable.
    and so on...
    Regards
    Edy

  • How to change Crystal Reports XI database name at run time from ASP code using ADO

    Dear All,
    I need advises regarding to my problem below
    I have two database in same SQL 2005 SERVER for TEST01 and LIVE01 Environtment, and I've created more than 100 reports with Crystal Reports 11 and call it from ASP classic page.
    The problem is how can I change a database from TEST01 to LIVE01 at the run time from ASP code as I already using TEST01 database on Crystal Reports and I do not want to set a new database location inside crystal for each reports
    Thanks and wait for your reply soon.
    Below is my code, which has no effect to crystal reports although I've change the database from TEST01 to LIVE01:
    <%
    Dim oADOConnection, oRptTable, oADORecordset, sql
    Dim struser, strpwd, strdriver, dblocation, dbname, strConnect
    struser = "sa"
    strpwd = ""
    strdriver = "{SQL SERVER}"
    dblocation = "SQL200501"
    dbname = "LIVE01"    ' Changed from TEST01 to LIVE01
    strConnect = "User Id=" & strUser & ";"
    strConnect = strConnect & "PWD=" & strPwd & ";"
    strConnect = strConnect & "DRIVER=" & StrDriver & ";"
    strConnect = strConnect & "SERVER=" & DBLocation & ";"
    strConnect = strConnect & "DATABASE=" & dbName
    sql="Select * from Employee"
    Set session("oApp") = Server.CreateObject("CrystalRuntime.Application.11")
    Set session("oRpt") = session("oApp").OpenReport("C:\REPORTS\RPT01.RPT", 1) 'USING TEST01 DATABASE
    session("oRpt").MorePrintEngineErrorMessages = False
    session("oRpt").EnableParameterPrompting = False
    session("oRpt").DiscardSavedData
    Set oADOConnection = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    oADOConnection.Open (strConnect)
    Set oADORecordset = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
    Set oRptTable = session("oRpt").Database.Tables.Item(1)
    oRptTable.SetDataSource oADORecordset, 3
    session("oRpt").SQLQueryString = CStr(sql)
    session("oRpt").ReadRecords
    %>

    Did you ever find a solution to this problem?  I have the same problem when moving reports from development to Test to Production environments.  If the DBName is not the same the report ignores the name provided at runtime.

  • How to create crystal reports from ecc abap program?

    Hi all,
    I am new to sap ecc to bo report!!
    I heard that abap program cannot be directly connected to crystal reports,
    So created a function module which is equivalent to the abap program!!
    And happened to connect the same in crystal !!
    Can anyone let me know how to proceed !!
    will be there any performance issue ?
    can anyone guide me how to do reporting from ecc function module to crystal reports directly?
    Thanks

    Hi Pooja,
    From what I know, not all ABAP programs can be accessed in Crystal Reports. The program should return rows and columns, otherwise, CR would not be able to report off it.
    I'm not sure if there are any performance issues if we follow your path. Do you experience any?
    And, do you need help in creating a report on the function module, I mean do you also have any design related queries?
