Crystal Reports - WCS (Web Component Server) and CMS login confusion

Hi,
I reinstalled the WCS after trying to restart the various servers/services for Crystal and having the Event ID 34400:
-Original Problem-
The description for Event ID ( 34400 ) in Source ( Crystal_WebConnector ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: assert failure in file (Y:\backend\WebAppServer\wsconnector\src\isapi\workerpool.cpp) at line 94.  (false : Request failed with code 3 and error message Communication failed with all configured Web Component Servers because they are disabled or not currently running. If this problem continues, please contact the system administrator.)..
-Current Problem (after uninstalling and reinstalling WCS - yuck)-
Anyway, now I'm unable to log back into the CMS through the WCS  (See screenshot:   <a href="http://www.picsaway.com/view/crystalproblm-95f6e20632.jpg">http://www.picsaway.com/thumbs/crystalproblm-95f6e20632.jpg</a>  )
Is it definitely the same username and password on the right box as used in the left box?  I don't know what the password is (and have asked a colleague but received no response yet).  The CMS is running on the same computer as the WCS so I was hoping not to have to authenicate via WindowsNT/Enterprise/LDAP (the 3 options).
So.. I'm sorry for the ramble but I've made a problem worse trying to fix it and am not sure where to go from here.
Thanks,
Hew

Hi,
We're going to reinstall CR onto a different computer.  Please close this thread.
Thanks.

  • Crystal 8 Web Component Server ond Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6

    I am trying to get Crystal 8 Web Component and Page Server to run on Windows 2003 Server with IIS 6. I have done the following:
    Added the .cri and .rpt ISAPI extension mappings
    Have Cache ISAPI extentions selected
    Deselected "verify that file exists"
    Aded the .cri and .rpt MIME types
    Added wcsinsapi.dll as a IIS 6.0 extension
    The above resolved all HTTP 40x.x errors but when trying to access a report from IE I receive the following error:
    Error: Could not connect to the Web Component Server.
    The page server and web component server services are running and I do see the listen ports (6401, 6403) active.
    I know this is old software but it works quite well under a Windows 2000 Server and other web postings indicate that it is possible to run Crystal 8 under WS2003 and IIS 6.
    Does any one know of a white paper/support document that details how to run Crystal 8 under Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6?
    Has any one done this successfully?
    Any tips as to cause of the "Could Not Connect" problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Well as it turns out it looks like it was just this server.
    We tried everything, and I added those user accounts to full
    permission for the Coldfusion folders and we just could not get it
    to work. We tried it on another couple servers running 2003, and it
    installed perfectly right out of the box with no other permissions
    needed. And those servers were all running default configs with no
    other permissions done.
    We still have no idea what was the problem, but at least for
    now it seems to be this server. But I will tell you what, that II6
    stuff seems to be a bit of a pain, we had major problems installing
    new version of PHP with it too. Oh well, good luck to you
    too!

  • Publishing crystal reports to web

    Can anyone give me an idea of how to publish the crystal reports to web. I know we need Crystal Reports Server for that. Apart from that what are the other steps.

    Hello,
    there are some solutions:
    - Deploy CR Server and than the users could access the Reports via InfoView (Web Portal of CRS)
    - Shedule the Report as 3rd Party format (pdf, xls, etc.) to a webserver like IIS or Tomcat so the users can view the report via a browser...but that would be very static
    - shedule the report to a network share and deploy CR Viewer to the Client PCs. So the users could view the .rpt format.

    When Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enabled, using the ActiveX control to print reports from a Crystal 10 DHTML viewer results in the following error message:
    "A communication error occurred, printing will be stopped."
    How can this error message be resolved?
    Resolution
    This is a known issue with Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10 viewers and has been tracked. The Track ID is ADAPT00282199.
    This error occurs due to the receiving application performing a case-sensitive check for the HTTPS request header value "ON". When a sender application sends the value as "on" in lower case, the error occurs. The update below changes the receiving application to be case-insensitive.
    Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the updates, this issue is resolved.
    Unless indicated otherwise, Weekly Hot Fix updates from our FTP site have only been tested with English versions of products.
    For Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10, the update for this issue is included in the Crystal 10 Viewers Weekly Hot Fix (WHF). This is available in English only at the following location:

  • How to use oracle functions in Crystal Reports XI using Oracle Server

    Hi all,
    Is it possible  to use oracle functions in Crystal Reports XI using Oracle Server as Data Source.
    If i try to use a procedure,i am getting error with message "Invalid Arguement Provided".
    Functions are not visible objects like tables,views and stored procedures.
    The  jdbs driver i m using is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.

    I think it is not possible to add functions in crystal directly for any database. You need to use those functions in a stored procedure and add that storedprocedure as a datasource.

    Post Author: synapsevampire
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    You need to understand the potential pitfalls of you process first.
    First I'll assume that you have joined the two datasources on some field, something that you should include in your post. Please state in your next posting.
    When you do so, then all of the processing related to joining the data happens within Crystal, and it is NOT a fast database server.
    So it can take a looooooooooooooong time to do this, depending upon the number of rows and the joins involved. You haven't posted anything about the amount of rows returned by either query form Oracle or SQL Server, so we can't speak to that. Instead you say that you did it with Oracle and Access, which is pretty much meaningless here. The Access or Oracle table could have had only a few rows, this isn't a matter of Crystal slowing because certain types of connectivity or databases are used, it is a matter of volume.
    I would consider linking the Oracle tables into the SQL Server database, or as many do, LINK (not import) all of the tables into an Access database and then do the queries in Access and expose a query as the source for the Crystal Report.
    In either case, something will need to do the processing, and having Crystal do so is probably the slowest of your options.

  • Crystal report vs Webi Report

    Hi Expert,
    My client  have WEBI and Crysal Report both installed in the system. They want to change all Bex reports to either in Crystal report or WEBI .
    My question is what all we need to consider while suggesting a particular type of report. When we should choose WEBI over crystal report?.
    Please answer me considering the fact that they are curently using BEX report in SAP BI environment.

    Hi
    Crystal is very flexble tool, if you want to use BW with crystal reports, you need to install SAP integration kit to get connected to your BeX queries and pull the data into report.
    If you need more secure environment you can go for WEBI reports, these reports can be based off a semantic layer wheich is very secured.
    Thanks,

  • Re: Crystal Reports 5.0 (32-Bit) and Forte 2.0H16 on NT3.51

    Dear Silke,
    Crystal's default for identifying a table in the report design is
    <schema>.<table>. You can change that by going to the Database Location menu
    item and cutting the schema prefix off. You should do that for every table in
    the report. The PESetNthTableLogOnInfo function will, I believe, not change
    the schema prefix of a table, since it assumes you really want that schema,
    i.e., as an override. Also, if you are using the propagateAcrossAllTables
    feature of the function make sure that every table has the schema prefix cut
    off, otherwise those tables will be skipped, since the propagate feature applies
    to all other similar tables only. For example, some of the tables could be
    Sybase, etc.
    I believe you can change the default behaviour of the CR Report Designer in the
    File->Preferences menu, so that when reports are designed the schema prefix is
    not automatically attached.
    I have compiled some guidelines on designing reports to make them work properly
    with Forte. I will try to send them to you next week. Crystal Reports and its
    C API are a good product, and you will get good performance once the report
    design is set up properly.
    Yours very sincerely, John Hodgson.

    Hello,
    I wonder if we have a similar problem.
    We are using Crystal Reports 5 and Forte 3.0.F.2. For
    the interface
    between Forte and Crystal we have in Forte a Lib using
    C-wrappering to
    the C-API of Crystal.
    We have developed a report on a database in our
    development-environment. This report comes up with data
    and works
    correct. It's no different if we have saved the report
    in Crystal with
    data or without.
    If we want to use the same report on another database
    in our
    test-environment the window from crystal reports comes
    up and when
    starting there is an error from the Crystal API
    function.
    Both environments use the same version of an Oracle
    Database and are on
    Open VMS. The client for the test is in this case
    always the same.
    From the C-API we use the method PEStartPrintJob after
    we have specified
    the rest for the report.
    Is there a possibility that this is the same error you
    mentioned? Or do
    you have any other ideas?

    As far as I know, there is no workaround, and theonly solution is to
    upgrade to CrystalReports 6.0.

    if it is something to do with having report admin rights is there a way to still export report data without these admin rights? is it possible to just export report data as activity data in the normal import/export section within the setup menu? is there a problem using filezilla client and oracle eloqua together for this?

  • Reg: changing of Crystal Report to Webi

    Hi Gurus,
    We are having many Reporting tools  .
    but.. Some (18)  templates are designed in Crystal Reports.
    Some (40) in Business Objects Web Intelligence.
    We would like to convert all of them to Web intelligence.
    Please suggest me the easiest way to change those Crystal Reports to Webi Reports.
    Quick Response is appreciated.
    Regards

    You mean to say that.... We need to create from universe Level ...to Report Level....?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime, Windows Server 2008 64-Bit AND SharePoint2007

    Hi Guys,
    here i'm again.
    Well I'm developing on a 32-Bit OS with Crystal Reports 2008. I've deployed my solution to SharePoint, but when i try to call a report in the aspx-Website i get the following error:
    Exception Details: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.LoadSaveReportException: An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.
    Here are the technical details:
    - Windows Server 2008 (64Bit)
    - IIS7
    - Microsoft Office Server 2008 (64Bit)
    - Crystal Reports 2008 SP3
    I've read, that there isn't a 64-Bit runtime version of CR2008. Then i tryed the two following suggestions i found in this forum:
    1. Try to run the IIS-Application-Pool in 32-Bit-Mode -> This don't work, because SharePoint then throws a "Internal Server Error - Code 500" (no SharePoint Sites are available).
    2. Try to compile the Visual Studio Project as 32-Bit -> This don't work, because SharePoint could not load the assembly
    Well, are there any other hints, suggestions or  experiences how i could get this to work?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

  • Deploying Crystal Reports to web server.

    I currently have developing an webapplication solution with Crystal Reports 2008 and VS2005.
    I installed the Runtime libraries on the production server from the following url:
    http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/runtime.asp
    I noticed that the installer does not work, it assumes your default website folder is hardcoded to c:\inetpub\wwwrooot
    My installation it is on the d: drive with the same path.
    I copied the c:\inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client\system_web\2_0_50727\crystalreportviewers12 to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client\system_web\2_0_50727\crystalreportviewers12.
    The reports seemed to run.
    However, more often than nought, when exporting or printing I receive the following error message:
    Failed to export using the options you specified. Please check your options and try again.

    The load may be light, but the number of report the app potentially runs is not. Are you destroying the report objects once you get done with them? A code something like htis should be implemented:
    Dim report as New ReportDocument
    Protected Sub Page_load()
    End Sub
    Private Page_Unload()
    report.close()
    report.dispose()
    GC.Collect
    End Sub
    //C# (on form open):
    private void WebForm1_Init(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
        if (boReportDocument != null)
            boReportDocument.Close();
            boReportDocument.Dispose();
            GC.Collect();
    // C# on form close
    private void Page_Unload(object sender, EventArgs e)
            if (boReportDocument != null)
            { boReportDocument.Close();
                boReportDocument.Dispose();
                GC.Collect();

  • ASP Crystal Report 2008 (12) Oracle 9 and Visual Basic!

    Hi All,
    I'm mainting an old application and I need to simulate the same client environment in my machine.
    I have a VB application (with COM+ server components) that's creates a report object with parameters. But the only thing that this application does it's call an ASP page that contains all the logic to call a .rpt file, connect to Oracle 9i and then show the crystal report inside a MS webbrowser component (activeX) in the VB form.
    I already setup the IIS, and the site there, I put all the .rpt files in the site and if you try to access without calling from VB you can run the asp pages, but the reports still doesn't appears.
    These ASP pages should connect to Oracle and then show the rpt file, but I'm facing the following error:
    The url that's the application creates is for example this: http://localhost/application1/createreport.asp?sSessionId=2&ReportName=TransactionsProcessed.rpt&parameter1&parameter2... etc etc...
    Script Error Number: -21471922153
    File could not be opened because the library "P2sora7.dll" cannot be found.
    User Error Text: An error has ocurred in CreateReport.asp while logging onto the Oracle database server. Please try again.
    I already check the database connection and it is working fine using ODBC, and the application works fine with the database.
    The file p2sora.dll is in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32, I already copied from another machine, and I have installed Crystal Report 2008 (12) in my server machine with Windows 2003 server, that's the application and web server where report should be run. I know that the old application was executed with Crystal 7, but I cannot found this version to buy.
