[CS4] Scripted plug-in that remembers the position of a document.

A while ago somewhere in this forum (can’t find the original post any more), I read about a pesky problem that appeared in InDesign CS4: unlike CS3, it doesn’t save a document’s position, which irritates some users – I assume there are quite a number of them. I thought it was quite easy to solve this with APID ToolAssistant and made a scripted plug-in which is intended to solve it: http://kasyan.ho.com.ua/remember_documents_position.html

can't it be done with BeforeClose and AfterOpen events ?
No, it can't be done without APID.
APID's docLoaded event works great – I can't say it about InDesign's afterOpen event. This problem was discussed a few times in this forum. With beforeClose and its APID's counterpart called docClose you can't do much, because the layout window is already closed when the event is called, so I used APID's docSave event instead.

First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).

If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
CS7 = CC v9
CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.

When I have seen this message it is either when I try to open a document with an older version of Indesign E.g. an indesign 2014 document with Indesign CC.
The other time I have seen it is to open an Indesign CC document with Indesign 2014 which does not have Mindsuite - a plugin I use. Mindsuite, as yet, has not upgrade the plugin for Indesign 2014 therefore it recognises that a the document was created withe a plugin that the 2014 version does not have installed.
I believe your problem will be something like that.

Ineed a music player for E51 that remembers the tr...

Hi.
I like my E51 apart from a few things.
One of the worst is that the music player will not remember the track position when you exit like every other MP3 player in the world.
Is there a 3rd party application I can use as a player that will remember the track position or is there a work around for the Nokia Music Player?
I've seen a few symbian music player and the cost is minimal compared to the hassle of having to scan 45 minutes through a mix because the damn phone won't keep the position.

I almost bought the E51 but in the end opted for the N78, and had the same problem you have. Music player forgets where it is in long mixes, audio books etc if you turn the phone or player off.
For the nseries the quick work around is to turn the file into a podcast, you do this by selecting the track, click options, song details, then set Library to Podcast.
Don't know if it'll work on the e51 but it is the same symbian version so I think it should.

I am interested in writing a Premiere plug-in that can upload/download files to a URL from Adobe Premiere. Is there API functionality that lets me do this? More generally, is it possible to write this into a plug-in?

I updated to Safari 5 and lost the plug in that stopped the flash pop-up ads. Anybody have a good suggestion?

Before I updated, I had a plug in or extenstion that stopped those annoying pop up ads as you just happen to run the pointed over them. It also required me to click to load the plug in before using youtube (a really small price to pay) to alleviate the annoyance.

MY old camera was a 60D with 7.1 raw format and the new one is 6D. How do I get a plug in that will allow me to use both cameras in raw, and still access my old raw 7.1 files ? I am using Elements 11,

A new plug-in will support all the older cameras, so a plug-in that supports the newer 6D will also support the older 60D.
The 60D needs at least ACR 6.2.
The 6D needs at least ACR 7.3.
PSE11 ships with ACR 7.1 but can be updated all the way up to ACR 8.0.

Problems with Freehand Illustrator CS4 script for Macs

A couple of us just downloaded the new Freehand to Illustrator CS4 script for Macs that was released on 5/17/10. Sometimes it works okay, but more often than not we get errors like 'ERROR: 1, Access is denied'. If we instead just open the Freehand file, the file comes in fine. What have been other people's experiences using this new script?

Is the problem there only at the time of conversion or even the FH files are not opening after running the script
Here is what I have done and may be you can follow the exact steps :
1) Create a folder FH on Desktop and paste only the FH files in the folder( My folder does not contain any other file apart from FH files)
2) Create a Folder AI on Desktop and keep it empty
3) File-> Scripts-> FreehandToAI
4) Select the source folder( FH)
5) Now select the destination folder(AI)
It gives the message after conversion "N freehand files are converted to AI".

How to make the graph follows the position of the video frame

I want to open the video (. avi) and graph together in one VI.. The videos and graphs can be controlled (forwarded or rewind) in the desired position.. However, the graph should follow where's the position of the video frame.. The graph generated from the data in excel, after reading data, then there is the processing of signals, such as filter, mean, find the peak, etc.. After that the result will appear in the graph..
Until now, I've been able to display video and graph.. I'm trying to use WMP and also IMAQ..
Because I want to show the position of the graph or signal when the video plays, I was making a cursor or a line on a graph that follows the position of the video..
First, I'm trying using WMP.. I can forward and rewind video using WMP, after that I make a cursor on the graph and the position of cursor I put in the position video.. And then when I run the program, the signal that arises from the right, but the cursor in the graph follow the position of the video (the cursor appears on the left) different side with the signal..
I also tried using IMAQ when I tried to use the video controls, so the video can be forward or rewind using the slide, and I made a graph control to follow the video.. But the video isn't playing, it just show only images or frame in the video..
Can we create a graph that can follow the position of the video? (graph can be in forward and rewind just like with video)
I've tried many ways but until now have not been successful.. can someone help me?

This should do pretty much what you want, assuming that a slider is how you are controlling your video position. You are going to have to play around with it a little but it should give you the basic idea.

How can I change the position of the page footer when using the report generation functions of LabView 6.1.

At present my page footer is printing too far up from the bottom of the page. I have been unable to find a property that enables the position to be changed.

Use the Set Report Margin.vi to set the bottom margin to something less than the default 1. I got a standard report to print a footer .2 inches from the bottom of the paper.

Moving the position of box with rollover

I have a flash file that slides the position of a movieclip to 4 different positions with 4 buttons which works great. I also want to add 2 buttons that when you roll over them, I would like the position of the movie clip to keep sliding to the left and right until you roll off of the button(and stop when it gets to either end of the movieclip. The code below slides the movie clip when you click them...if that helps.

no worries.....I really like the way my file works now. i have another file with really nice easing to it that contains the code below. what I'm trying to figure out is if I can add that easing into the file you helped me with or would it be easier to modify the code below into a horizontal scroller like I need.

Does Adobe Reader have the plug-in to display the word definition when moving mouse over the word?

Hi,
I would like to know if Adobe Reader has such plug-in that displays the word definition when the user moves the mouse over the word.
Basically I think it needs to
detect what word is presented under the cursor
look up the word in the dictionary or source file e.g.xml
pop up the definition of the word, which can be a translation or definition
It would be great if user can actually customize this dictionary file/source file.
Do you think there is such plug-in?
