CS5 AS3 MovieClip errors.

I'm having an issue in scripting a MovieClip to play within a MovieClip. The outer MovieClip is a "Page" and on the page, you must click a button to play the second MovieClip, which is planned to remove the activating button, and play the MovieClip, stopping at the end, and presenting another button. I'm getting various error with different variations of the scripts.
Here is the code for my MovieClips:
package
           import flash.display.MovieClip;
           import flash.events.MouseEvent;
           public class Main extends MovieClip
                       var startPage:StartPage
                       var hillPage:HillPage;
                       var pondPage:PondPage;
                       var raft:Raft;
                       var sailPage:SailPage;
                       var raftButton:RaftButton;
           public function Main()
                        startPage = new StartPage();
                        hillPage = new HillPage();
                        pondPage = new PondPage();
                        raft = new Raft();
                        sailPage = new SailPage();
                        addChild(startPage);
//add event listeners
startPage.hillButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onHillButtonClick);
startPage.pondButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onPondButtonClick);
hillPage.hillBack1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onBackButtonHillClick);
pondPage.pondBack1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onBackButtonHillClick);
pondPage.raftButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onRaftButtonClick);
pondPage.exploreButtonRight.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onExploreButtonRightClick);
pondPage.raftButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playAnimation);
//add event handlers
function onHillButtonClick(event:MouseEvent):void
   addChild(hillPage);
   removeChild(startPage);
function onPondButtonClick(event:MouseEvent):void
   addChild(pondPage);
   removeChild(startPage);
function onBackButtonHillClick(event:MouseEvent):void
   addChild(startPage);
   removeChild(hillPage);
function onBackButtonPondClick(event:MouseEvent):void
   addChild(startPage);
   removeChild(pondPage);
function onRaftButtonClick(event:MouseEvent):void
   removeChild(raftButton);
   flash.display.MovieClip.raft(event:MouseEvent, playAnimation);
function playAnimation(event:MouseEvent):void
       raft.play();
function onExploreButtonRightClick(event:MouseEvent):void
   addChild(sailPage);
   removeChild(pondPage);
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To play a movieclip within a movieclip you target the movieclip from the timeline you are in using dot notation, such as you possibly did when you assigned event listeners to your buttons.  You may have targeted the raftButton properly when you assigned its event listener...
pondPage.raftButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playAnimation);
but if you did, then you did not target it properly when you tried to remove it...
removeChild(raftButton);
that should have been
removeChild(pondPage.raftButton);
(but that is only if the targeting was correct for the listener)

As far as i know I'm using Adobe Java 7. None of my CS5 suite works anymore............and i really dont want to upgrade to a monthly cloud service fee as i hate this policy with a passion.

    I couldn't launch Dreamweaver CC. An error told me to install "java se 6 runtime". But when I clicked  OK I got another error telling me there is a network problem! I found this forum post on CS6 products, so I tried the download link, installed java 6 and presto, it worked! Thanks!

    "Adobe Illustrator cs5 quit unexpectedly" error message.
    After I upgrated my imac from Snow Leopard to Mavericks I can't open Illustrator CS5. (No problem with PS)
    Every opening attemp crashes. May this be possible because of third party plug-ins. (eg. Esko Artwork)
    Help pls.
    Thank you.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
    SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
    from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
    In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
    Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
    ☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
    Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
    ☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
    DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
    (not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
    I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
    ☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
    In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    ☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • How link from html page to a specific frame in flash cs5 as3

    Hi!
    I'm kinda new around here. I am interested in knowing how to link from a specific html page to a specific frame in flash cs5 as3.
    I have a website that I originally began to design in flash but later started developing new pages for it in html. The flash part of it has several pages on different frames and I have created links from the flash part to the other html pages, but, I can only link the html pages back to the main flash home page, and not the other pages in the flash part of the website.
    I have read that in cs3 it was possible using the flashvars skip variable, but I don't know how to do it. I have not yet seen any working examples and I could not find any instructions / tutorials online for cs5.
    Can someone help here?

    add a query string, to the swf's embedding html, with variable/value indicating the frame you want to display in your swf.  add a javascript function to return the query string (or entire url), call the javascript function from flash using the externalinterface class.  and finally add code to your swf to parse the returned url or query string, parse it and then direct your timeline to the appropriate frame.

  • DW CS5.5: Javascript error while executing onLoad in Date_beforeSave.htm Not resolved for me!!!

    Hello,
    I'm having trouble when moving or renaming files. Linked files are automatically updated, but the following error message appears for each file: "While executing onLoad in Date_beforeSave.htm, a Javascript error occurred".
    I tried the solution found in a previous discussion (http://forums.adobe.com/message/757114#757114), that is to say: deleting the .dat file located in the "Applicaion dataAdobe\Dreamweaver CS5.1\Configuration" folder. But it doesn't work.
    I also tried by reinstalling the whole CS5.5 pack, but no result.
    I also had trouble while installing the CS5.5 Web Premium pack (on Windows XP Pro). Maybe the 2 problems are related?... As the installation was done, an error message appeared saying that some errors occured. Here is part of the error status:
    "- 0 fatal error(s), 14 error(s), 11 warning(s)

    Please, can anyone help?

    OK, I'll try to explain more clearly (excuse me if my English is imperfect, because I'm French).
    In fact, I'm facing 2 problems, which could be related or not.
    First, when I installed Creative Suite 5.5 some months ago, I received an error  at the end of the installation. You can download a copy of the report here: https://www.box.com/s/5m4k6xv68h00cpumwil9
    However, I could use the Adobe softwares without observable problem... until those last days...
    So, second and really annoying problem that I only detected those last days (maybe I didn't use the implied function before, but I'm not sure). When using DW, if I want to rename or to move some HTML files in a defined website, all the linked files will be automatically updated. As the automatic update is proceeding, I receive, for each updated file, the following error warning: "While executing onLoad in Date_beforeSave.htm, a Javascript error occurred". And I have to click "OK" to each warning in order the processus to go on. The result of the automatic update is uncertain: some files have been properly updated, some other not.
    As I already explained in my first post, I tried (unsuccessfully) to resolve by those two means:
    deleting ".dat" file in the "config" folder
    reinstalling CS5.5 (same error report received as when I first installed).
    I hope that I've been more clear that time and that you'll be able to help me! Thanks!

  • Updated iMac to Yosemite.  Now when in LR5 and try to edit photo in PS CS5 I get error 15 and it will not open.  I've uninstalled PS and reinstalled it but still get the same error.  Any thoughts out there.

    I just upgraded my iMac to Yosemite.  Now when in LR5 and try to edit a photo in PS CS5 I get error message 15.  It says to uninstall and reinstall PS CS5.  Done that and error is still there.  I can open PS outside of LR but not inside.  Any thoughts?

    The first thing I would suggest is for you to go to the folder containing your catalog, using your system browser. There will be a folder that has the extension .lrdata. Delete that folder, and then try to start Lightroom. If that doesn't work, replace your catalog with your most recent backup.

  • CS5 Trial Install error

    I downloaded a trial of photoshop cs5 and when I go to install the trail it first warns me of a "pending restart" which i can ignore and continue or close and do a restart as recommended (which I tried). If I attempt to continue with the installation it tells me it failed. This is the error log below (it's big). Let me know if you want more information. Im running windows 7 32-bit by the way.

    That's very puzzling, but you seem to have an older version of the Adobe Extension Manager for CS5.x.  You are on 5.0.x, R_Kelly mentions 5.2.x, and I'm on 5.5.x
    Maybe you need to make sure you are updated to Photoshop 12.1 update first, then make sure you are updated to Adobe Extenson Manager 5.5.0.163.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 Installation Error

    Alright, this is the first time this error has appeared for me. I have used Photoshop since the very early versions, but never had an error like this one.
    Basically, I run the setup as usual (yes I've tried to upgrade) and install it. Then after a while I get this error:
    There were problems with your installation. Some required components may have failed to install. This could impact functionality of installed applications.
    How can I fix this? I need to access Photoshop asap.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your reply.
    I cannot even finish the install at all, meaning that I had to go back to CS5 (which works). It's CS5.1 that doesn't work.

  • Flash Professional CS5 Entry Point Error

    Hi, I installed CS5 Web Premium Student & Teacher Edition on my home computer running vista home premium x64bit with well over the minimum system requirements, all the programs run correctly except Flash Professional CS5.
    This error appears and the programme does not start up.
    “ The procedure entry point ?ik_treeIsActive@CFlashIK@@QAE_NJ@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library FlashIK.dll.”
    I have tried uninstall and re-install as well as the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool . I have installed the same package on my laptop and it works fine but need Flash  on my home computer, how can I fix this??

    Ask on the Flash forum. This is a program specific error.

  • Flex mobile app attach complex AS3 movieclip SWC

    I have a Flex mobile project and I want to place a complex movieclip on the stage that has its own classes and exported from Flash CS5.5 as a SWC.
    OK no worries there but as soon as I have addChild called in the Flash movieclip/SWC.. Flex errors and cannot access null object reference.
    I also went down the Flex Component Kit though then I can't seem to access the classes??
    Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

    Did you ever find a solution?

    I think the idea is that Flash AS3 compiler needs JRE to compile swfs, so please update to the latest JRE version for CS5 to work. You would not need to install, CS5 Flash again and again.
