CSS and DIV alignment problem in IE6
I am working on a new site based on a DW template. I have
modified the right layout slightly for a flash header and also for
a footer div. I am also using alternate CSS files to fix IE6
display problems.
The site looks correct in IE7 and Safari, but in IE6
something is causing the right DIV to collapse. I have tried
adjusting the padding and margins for the divs in the alternate css
file several times with different results.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to correct this that I
might be overlooking.

Dreamweaver CS3 Div Alignment Problems.
I have been building a website on my new MacBook. I have it
just about done so I uploaded it to my web host to check out the
appearance. It looks great on my Mac, but I checked it on my
parents PC and it looked terrible. Being a new Mac user, I thought
it was something going on with the operating systems, but I checked
it on a Mac deskop and the alignment was still messed up. On the
Mac desktop it is too far to the left and on the PC it is too far
to the right. This is the link to the site:
http://www.potomacsouth.com/Home.html
You can click View>Source to see the code.
I noticed if you drag the window to a different size the
images behind the div move, but the div stays in place. Is there
some kind of code or something that I can do to make it stay in the
designated area on every computer regardless of settings?
Thanks.evansdb78 wrote:

Thats because you are using Absolutely Positioned
<divs> so they stay...
well.... Absolutely Positioned i.e., they WILL NOT move as
you increase
or decrease the width of the browser window.
Solution:
Open your page and go to code view
FIND THIS PIECE OF CODE:
<div align="center"><img src="
http://www.potomacsouth.com/Site-Top.jpg"
width="832" height="558" /><br />
CHANGE IT TO:
<div style="position: relative; width: 832px; margin: 0
auto;">
<img src="
http://www.potomacsouth.com/Site-Top.jpg"
width="832"
height="558" /><br />
NOW FIND YOUR ABSOLUTELY POSITIONED <DIV> CODE:
<div id="apDiv2">
<p class="style6"><u><span
class="style8">Welcome</span></u><span
class="style8">!</span></p>
<p align="left" class="style5"> Welcome to
PotomacSouth.com where
you can leave your work and worries on the beach. Whether you
are
looking to get in on the fishing action Maryland and Virginia
waters
have to offer, or take a tour to one of our destinations via
the water
Potomac South can get you there. We offer tours of St. George
Island
and its surrounding waters including a look at what the local

have caught, stop and see the Lighthouse, and two state
parks, Historic

mind take an
evening cruise to catch a bite to eat at The Mooring
Restaurant. If you
have any questions or are interested in a trip today give
Captain Dan a
call or email through our Contact Us
link.</p>
</div>
MOVE IT TO DIRECTLY BETWEEN THE TWO LINES OF CODE YOU
ORIGINALLY
CHANGED. SO IT LOOKS AS BELOW:
<div style="position: relative; width: 832px; margin: 0
auto;">
<div id="apDiv2">
<p class="style6"><u><span
class="style8">Welcome</span></u><span
class="style8">!</span></p>
<p align="left" class="style5"> Welcome to
PotomacSouth.com where
you can leave your work and worries on the beach. Whether you
are
looking to get in on the fishing action Maryland and Virginia
waters
have to offer, or take a tour to one of our destinations via

</div>
<img src="
http://www.potomacsouth.com/Site-Top.jpg"
width="832"
height="558" /><br />
NOW FIND THE 'apDiv2' CSS IN THE HEAD SECTION OF YOUR PAGES
CODE AND
CHANGE THE 'LEFT' AND 'TOP' POSITIONING AS BELOW.
#apDiv2 {
position:absolute;
width:315px;
height:358px;
z-index:1;
left: 70px;
top: 160px;
overflow: auto;
THATS IT. IT SHOULD NOW MOVE AS YOUR BACKGROUND IMAGE MOVES -
CSS and Images export problems
I am trying to export a page to dreamweaver using css and images method. I have created rectangles for the header, content and footer to create divs. Added text and graphics. When I export, it does not export with html codes and css, it gives me one big .jpg. "Layer_1.jpg". Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,

Keynote 9 and objects alignment problems
Why keynote does not align object using the first one selected as stated in the user guide?
It will rather use the highest one for top, the lowest one for bottom and a ponderate value for all objects for middle.
Same problem for left center right.
If I do align top with an order like (1 being the 1st selected, 2 the 2nd and 3 the 3rd).
2 1 2 3
1 I end up with Rather than 1 2 3
3
If I do align top with
3 2 3 1
2 I end up with Rather than
1 2 3 1
Can this be changed somewhere?
This is just not logical at all. The first object should be the reference for the alignment.
There also is a problem with distribution, it uses the farthest left and the farthest right in Horizontal distribution rather
than first and last selected.
This is against the documentation.
Cheers.
Joffrey.Hello.
Thanks for your reply. Indeed, these alignment guides are a powerful and great tool that I use all the time.
Nevertheless when it comes to aligning a big amount of shapes, I can't be bothered doing it one by one.
In the manual of Keynote 09' it is written page 89 and 90:
Quickly Aligning Objects Relative to One Another
You can use menu commands to quickly move objects on the same slide in alignment or space them equally apart. First, you must select all the objects you want to align (hold down the Shift or Command key as you click each object to select it).
To align selected objects:
m To align the objects with each other, choose Arrange > Align Objects and then choose one of the alignment options in the submenu.
Left: Positions objects so that their left edges align vertically to the first object you select.
Center: Positions objects so that their centers align vertically to the first object you select.
Right: Positions objects so that their right edges align vertically to the first object you select.
Top: Positions objects so that their top edges align horizontally to the first object you select.
Middle: Moves objects vertically so that their centers align horizontally to the first object you select.
Bottom: Positions objects so that their bottom edges align horizontally to the first object you select.
There is a discrepency between the manual and what Keynote actually does.
I know there are lots of way to circumvent this alignment problem, I would just want to know if there is a place, in a config file, may be where this can be switch from topper to first one for example in case of an align top.
Any other tools such as Omnigrafle, Axure, Visio, Adobe suites, you name it, do it using the first selected object. I whish Keynote would act as expected. -
Hello,
I've created a very basic layout with a header, some columns of text and an image. Everything is aligned perfectly, I've put all the text into rectangles, created a slice for the image, and nothing is overlapping. When I use the Export CSS and Images option, it just exports everything as one big image. What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks,

Hi
Is the CSS and image export supposed to output anything
legible. Right now, it produces garbage that looks nothing like my
project. Images are distorted. Nothing lines up correctly. Has
anyone else had similar problems?
Why does the feature only support creating a single page? Is
there any way to get it to export all pages?
Why does the feature ignore behaviors? The HTML and image
export supports behaviors so why can't the CSS and image export? Is
there any way to get it to support behaviors?

Div problems...I need to get more experienced with working
with Divs cause I always seem to run into trouble...
I am using an Accordion Magic plugin from project7 for my
navigation. In one of the panels is a list menu drop down search
form. When this one panel opens, the main content table shifts
slightly to the right. All other panels work fine.
I am sure that this is something to do with the Div or the
list/menu form. I tried removing the menu leaving only a single
link and the panel was fine. I have tried several CSS styling
changes to no avail. I have done lots of trial and error with
padding, margins and width % settings.
The page can be viewed at:
http://www.dvdflashbacks.com/williamsburghealth/index.php
I also have attached the code here:Forgot...Here is the current CSS I am using for the form
itself:
#categorySearch2 {
text-indent: 5px;
width: 92%;
padding-top: 5px;
padding-right: 0px;
padding-bottom: 5px;
padding-left: 0px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 5px;
margin-bottom: 0px;
margin-left: 5px;
And here is the CSS for the Panel Content:
.p7ABcontent {
font-size: 12px;
color: #333333;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
background-image: url(images/p7ap_light_gray_bevel.jpg);
background-repeat: repeat-x;
text-indent: 10px;
line-height: .75em;
padding-top: 10px;
padding-bottom: 5px;
Thanks in advance for any help with this issue! -
I have a template (dwt) for my site with editable regions for
menus. I want to use Server Side Includes for the menu, as not all
the pages will have the same menu.
I have designed the site template (and pages) with css and
divs. The area for the SSI is a div of size 145x335. The menu which
I want to put inside this div will be a div based menu. I havent
had any luck displaying the Div from the SSI yet. I have been
looking on Google for help, but not much luck. I can get the Div to
appear but the formatting doesnt show up.
Im putting the SSI code in where I want it on the page, but
im not sure exactly which code to get rid of in the shtml file. I
know I need to remove body, head parts etc
My site template uses CSS stored on the document, not an
external css file.
Any ideas?> Im sure Ive not got it right yet!! My head wont work
lately!
Yes. It's not working well here, either.
Create your template with the editable region. In it, have
links to a) the
general stylesheet for all the pages, and b) the general
stylesheet for all
of the includes (these don't really need to be separate
files). Spawn a
child page, drop in the desired include, and save that page
as
whocares.shtml.
That's it....
The incude files themselves can be names anything you want -
I like the
'monkeybutt' extension, e.g.,
yourinclude.monkeybutt
The include files can make reference to CSS selectors, but
cannot have
embedded CSS rules, or links to external CSS files.

Ul.hmb ul alignment problem ie7 and lower only
So to my knowledge the menu on my site works correctly in all other browsers except ie7 and lower. As a last resort I have turned to conditional style sheets for ie7 and previous versions to take care of this problem. Here's a link to my site: http://geekpowwow.com
My style sheets are large and probably a little disorganized so i'll post the relevant rules here. I'll post one ul and if you guys have any thoughts on how to solve this problem please let me know. (I have removed a#li and div.menubaralign from the ie7 css)

As you would expect from the code here the drop down is left aligned directly below the menu bar li. Any ideas about why margin-left:-8em won't center, or even move the list from the current position?HTML

I am using CSS and Javascript to display a div with an
embedded flash object in it. Mozilla Firefox reloads the flash file
when the div is displayed! (I dont want this to happen, as it's
unexpected functionality, my expectation would be that the flash
file would not change it's state at all, and would remain in
whatever state it was left in.)
I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and is
there something I can do to prevent this from occurring?
To be more specific, I have a single HTML page with 8 flash
files embedded in it (yeah I know, it's a bit much). I am then
using CSS and Javascript to display (via a numbered link (with an
id)) an equivalent numbered div tag containing the flash file.
Mozilla Firefox reloads the flash object that is in the div.
Internet Explorer will not do this and will instead, load the flash
object only upon initial view of the flash object. All subsequent
links (in IE) will NOT reload the flash object on the page. I'm
guessing this is some kind of difference in the flash player as an
Active X object and the plugin, or is it just IE being clever? Or
am I way off?

Css and RequestDispatcher problem
I'm using JBoss + embedded Tomcat (not using apache
yet in development).
I have problem with JSP and css. My JSP includes css
with this tag:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" type="text/css">If I access the JSP directly from web-browser IE5
to http://127.0.0.1:8080/myContext/fileName.jsp ,
it's displayed correctly.
However, if I let a servlet dispatch the JSP, the css didn't
included somehow (browser displayed the JSP without css-formatting).
RequestDispatcher dispatcher = getServletContext().
getRequestDispatcher("/fileName.jsp");
if (dispatcher != null)
dispatcher.forward(request, response);
/* ... */I put css and JSP in the same subdir. Is this a Tomcat error, or
I forgot to set something in the request object, or
I need to append something to "/fileName.jsp"?
Thanks in advance.
VerdiUnfortunately, the solution I found was to "hardcode" the absolute path. For example:<link rel="stylesheet" href="<%= request.getContextPath() %>/style.css" type="text/css">There're another way I think may preserve the context
path, that is to use response.sendRedirect. Problem with
this approach is however, you can't embedd javabean
as "attribute" cause attribute will be removed in the new request (of redirected jsp).

Printer Ink and Alignment Problems
Any fixes for an HP 6380 that continues to show various ink failures on the screen (mainly 036) and then cartridge alignment failures? I have followed the tutorials several times (cleaning, replacing cartridges, resetting cartridges, etc.) and can not get the ink failure and/or alignment failure screens to go away, nor can I print. The unit is 14 months old and out of warranty and I am getting more frustrated after every repeated attempt to fix it. Or, should I just scrap it and buy another printer?

Hi people,
j have found this
http://www.dhtmlgoodies.com/index.html?whichScript=ajax-tooltip
but i don't know how I implement this in apex.
So that i have i general question.
How can i implement my own css and in which way can i use these?
is there a how to or something?Hello,
You can maintain your own, external (preferably OS level) CSS file, and load it using your page template, the same way APEX loading its own CSS file.
If you look at your page template, in the HTML Header section, you'll see something like this:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_5/theme_V2.css" type="text/css" />In this case this is the CSS file for theme 5. You can put your own CSS file in the same directory as the rest of your theme file, and use a similar link.
Take into consideration that because the cascading effect (the first C in CSS) you need to load your file after the original APEX files, so in case you are targeting the same selectors (elements/attributes), yours will get precedent.
The best place to start learning a bit more about CSS is the following http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
Hope this helps,
Arie. -
I've just put together a very simple website for a friend who
is starting up in business. Unfortunately, I've screwed up the CSS
and the background image of three locks that I've produced shows
fine in Internet Explorer but does not show at all in Firefox.
From my reading it seems that Firefox is more accurate in the
way that it handles CSS but that IE is more forgiving - so Firefox
is telling me that I've got it wrong!
Any ideas on where I've gone wrong please?

Change 'background-attachment: fixed;' on your '.tableback'
class.
to
background-position: fixed;
The image will appear in the correct position BUT Firefox
doesnt fix a
background image on anything other than the <body> tag
I think.
