CSS problem with content in different browsers?

I've been revamping the CSS for a website and got most internal pages to display normally on different browsers. However, the site entry page is driving me nuts. I think I've been staring at the code so long that I've overlooked an obvious error. In Firefox, the paragraph of intro text lines up nicely to the right of the navigation panel. In Google Chrome (and IE of course), it pops down underneath the nav panel as shown in screen capture below. Even if I zoom out. Included a link so you can see it in real time. (Since the revamp is recent, the style sheet isn't pretty.)

Sorry for the slow reply. Thanksgiving and family in town and all that. No I didn't fix or change anything. And I'll make sure the percentage match in the morning. It's after midnight here.

  • Problem with Content Barrier

    I just wanted to post my experience with IChat AV and problems with Content Barrier.
    After a long time with Support, I deleted Content Barrier from the startup folder and everything works fine now.
    I will give an update when I get IChat AV to work with Content Barrier installed.

    Patrick - I experienced the same problem with Content Barrier and Net Barrier too. But, I did an archive and install of Tiger (actually a reinstall) after my son's iMac was only 3 days old. Was not aware that CB was the cause of iChat not working until I tried to reinstall CB and found that to be the culprit.
    Do you also have Netbarrier? I found that was a problem too.
    I e-mailed Intego and all they could offer was did I upgrade to 10.1.7 and updated filters. I did the program update, but since I did not renew the subscription, I do not have the latest filters (last filter update was Feb 05).
    I have another e-mail to Intego saying this, but no response from them (but it was only last Friday).
    Any thoughts on an alternative content barrier program?

  • Keynote conversion:  Powerpoint found a problem with content....

    Hi all,
    MS office is killing me and I'd appreciate any pointers and comments
    Here's the situation:
    1. Keynote file (multi-revised over the years) exported to powerpoint file XYZ in New-MBP
    2. New-MBP opens XYZ and gets "found a problem with content in..."
    3. Click on "repair", open up XYZ, and get bunch of blank pages
    4. Same XYZ file copied to Old-MBP(freshly installed, now my home media server, not many apps installed).
    5. Same version of Office 2011 installed in Old-MBP, opened the file just fine!
    (so the problem is not NewMBP Keynote)
    6. Created a test account in New-MBP
    7. Attempted to open XYZ with Powerpoint
    8. Same "found a problem with content in..."
    9. Click on "repair", open up XYZ, and get bunch of blank pages
    (so the problem is not user/privileges, but the NewMBP system-wide issue?)
    10. In New MBP, created a brand new Keynote file, did some light work
    11. Exported new keynote file to powerpoint file RRR
    12. In New-MBP, RRR opened under Powerpoint 2011 just fine!
    (so the problem might be the original multi-modified Keynote file?)
    (But its powerpoint file XYZ opened in Old-MBP just fine!)
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2011, with SP1, still cannot open XYZ properly.
    I've copied all Office 2011 files from Old-MBP to New MBP, still cannot open XYZ properly.
    I"ve googled the problem and tried anything I could find, still cannot open XYZ properly. (deleting presenter notes... etc)
    My current conclusion: some kind of software system conflicts in the New-MBP.
    Anyone with any ideas?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Will

    Hi Will,
    Met the same issues and spent hours to find the problem. And guess what ? I found it :-)
    For some reason, groups are not supported by Powerpoint converted files.
    This is why every slide that contains group is not converted.
    The workaround is to ungroup all the groups in your keynote file (alt+cmd+shift+G) and you'll see your slides being converted again.
    I'm not sure where the issue is coming from. I would tend to think it should be resolve by the Apple Keynote team.
    Not sure whether it has been escalated so far.
    There might be some other small issues. One or two slides were not properly converted although they were not containing group, but this should fix most of them.
    Have fun degrouping your slides

  • Issue with images in different browsers

    Having an issue with different browsers -- hoped someone
    could help.
    If I open my site with IE, everything looks as it does in
    Dreamweaver -- there is no overlap of text and images/etc.
    If I open my site with Mozilla or Safari, it seems to
    arbitrarily move up some of the images over the top of text. Not
    all of the images, mind you -- just a few random ones throughout
    the page.
    Opening the following link in both type of browsers may give
    you a clue as to what is going on. What can I do to get it to look
    like it does in IE?

  • FCC: Problems with content conversion

    Dear all,
    I have a receiver FTP adapter with content conversion. In RWB I'm facing following error message:
    Adapter Framework caught exception: Exception in XML Parser (format problem?):'java.lang.Exception: Message processing failed in XML parser: 'java.lang.Exception: Consistency error: more fields found in XML structure than specified in conversion parameters! (Value 'FCOTUPI')', probably configuration error in file adapter (XML parser error)'
    The field with value FCOTUPI could be found in POS recordset. I double check the length of columns but couldn't find
    an error.
    CC configuration:
    Recordset structure: HEADER,POS,SUBPOS
    HEADER.fieldFixedLengths = 8,4,8
    POS.fieldFixedLengths = 8,20,15,3
    SUBPOS.fieldFixedLengths = 5,5
    HEADER.fixedLengthTooShortHandling = Cut
    POS.fixedLengthTooShortHandling = Cut
    SUBPOS.fixedLengthTooShortHandling = Cut
    As you can see by the names, I am using as XML to convert a structure with subnodes. In documentation it said
    that it is not allowed, but in some threads I found the information that structure could be processed.
    Any ideas how to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Dear Amit,
    thanks for your answer. I already checked this blog, but hoped for other solutions.
    My problem: I tried to map my hierarchical structure to a flat structure.
    Source
    Struc1 (0..unbounded)
    -Item1.1
    -Struc2 (0..unbounded)
    --Item 2.1
    --Struc3 (0..unbounded)
    ---Item3.1
    Target:
    Struc1 (0..unbounded)
    -Item1.1
    Struc2 (0..unbounded)
    -Item 2.1
    Struc3 (0..unbounded)
    -Item3.1
    But if e.g. the Struc2 appears two time it will be created two time in target structure before
    the Struc3 is created. But ths Struc3 belongs to Struc2 and should be created in flat file under
    Struc2 directly.
    How can we created a flat structure like this
    Struc1
    Struc2
    Struc3
    Struc3
    Struc2
    Struc3
    Thanks
    Chris

  • Problem with contents of annotation

    Hi,
    I have problem with JS and annotations in new Acrobat XI reader. My script have to read annotations contents but in XI annotation.contents is always undefined. I listed all object properties and I can't find property with correct contents. I don't see any changes in documentation. Should work.

    This is quite old scripts which stopped working, works fine on older versions up to Acrobat Pro 10.1.1
    Now I'm testing it on 11.0.3 and doesn't work.
    This simple test function works on Pro 10.1.1 and shows contents, on XI shows "undefined"
    function listAnnots() {
        var string = "";
        var annots_list = this.getAnnots();
        if (annots_list.length>0) {
            for (k=0; k<annots_list.length;k++) {
                tmp = annots_list[k];
                string += "Contents: "+tmp.contents+"\n";
        app.alert(string);

  • CSS Problem with Internet Explorer 8.0 Filters and linked reports

    Hi ,
    The Internet explorer 8.0 re presents the filter prompt for linked reports and a warning of "Prevention of XSS" is flashed on the browser. Is there a patch for this since changes in Interner explorer security setting are not possible to be changed in all clients.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Shivakanth

    Jovaini,
    IE 8 handles threads different than previous versions. Thus, if you sign into an APEX workspace and then try to start a new instance of IE 8, that process is no longer seen as a separate process like IE 6 & 7, but rather as another "tab", if you will. Thus, as soon as you log into workspace 2, your login credentials for workspace 1 are invalidated. This is true even if workspace 2 is the APEX Admin Console, as it uses the same underlying authentication mechanism.
    To solve this, you have a couple of options:
    1) Use two different browsers (i.e. IE 8 and Google Chrome).
    2) Use the hostname for one session and the IP address for another session. This will limit you to two concurrent logins.
    3) Either edit your local hosts file or if you can, have your network administrator create a number of aliases to the same APEX server. You can then use each alias for a different session with the same browser. APEX manages its session cookies based on the hostname, so if you have 10 aliases, you will be able to be logged into 10 separate workspaces within the same browser using this approach.
    Thanks,
    - Scott -

  • Problems with Syncing two different libraries on one mac

    Ever since I downloaded itunes 11 onto my mac I am having problems with syncing.  We have two libaries on our mac and can still easily move between the two, each keeping our own playlists, and music/podcast libaries.  The problem is with the syncing to our ipods. The playlists stay separated, but unfortunately the sync update pulls both music libraries and puts it on each of our ipods.  Having very different music tastes, this is a drag.
    A second issue - there is still that problem of having issues with purchased music not staying in playlists (on ipod) after syncing.
    I've tried looking around the itunes tutorials and articles but wasn't having luck.  any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Oh, in case it matters, one of us is using an Iphone and the other an ipod touch.

    you might have to find a third party program to get those songs off her ipad onto the computer, apple doesnt support that unless they are purcahsed from itunes store because of DRM (Digital Rights Media) another word for copy write. so theres not a whole lot of hope for that, but you can always create a new user on your computer
    >user>+ icon>Create new user make it admin
    -if they are how ever purchased from itunes you would still make that new user, plug the device into itunes and authorize the computer by clicking store on the top of your screen where file edit and view are, Store>authorize this computer
    once thats done you'll then plug that device in to the computer and on the left side of itunes you'll see devices and "Device name" the device its self, right click or control click the name and choose transfer purchases, anything that has ever been purchased of gotten for free will sync onto the computer,
    you cant just simplay pull the songs off the device to the computer, doesnt work like that

  • Flash problems with Mountain Lion - web browsers hang when trying to render flash content

    Hi Everyone,
    After installing Mountain Lion all my web browsers - including the new Safari - seem to not be able to retrieve web content properly.
    For example:
    1. Youtube video will not play, hang for a while, then error out
    2. Facebook will hang then error out (Safari cannot even get to the Facebook page for some reason)
    3. IMDB.com cannot render the page, then errors out.
    I've tried uninstalling all browsers, flash players, Java and reinstalling again, yet the same thing keeps happening.
    Anyone have any ideas for a solution?
    Thanks.

    Same problem. Done every thin to fix it . I noticed today that if i login to Youtube y can´t watch videos (some times only once), but if i logout i can watch every video.  Can you check on that???
    I have reinstalled Flash, delete cokies, cache files, fixed rights, and the same. The problem is the same in Chrome, Safari and Firefox and started just after i upgraded to Mountain Lion.

  • Problem with ie6 displaying different to every other browser

    I have just created my website and after testing with all browsers except (stupidly) ie6 it all works fine but for some reason in ie6 it displays incorrectly on this page http://www.flitecarz.co.uk/WD-Postcodes-Covered.html the part with the problem is on the right hand side where there is a quick navigation to different postcode areas. If you view it in any browser except ie6 you will see how its supposed to work.
    If anyone can give me any help with this I will be forever in your debt as I have been racking my brains about this all day and I cant seem to find a soloution.
    Any help with be greatly received.

    Hello Nessa,
    here is another argument why you don't need to mourn about a possible bad presentation in this old IE6 Browser. This browser - you can say - is no longer in use. The spread is, the statistics shows it, very very low. The attached analysis from
    http://gs.statcounter.com/#browser_version-ww-monthly-201201-201202-bar
    shows this clearly.
    And as we already said, your website looks very well in contemporary browsers.
    Don't worry, ...

  • CSS problem with IE

    Hi
    I have created a style sheet and linked it to a template to
    form the basis of a website. I have included a background image in
    the masthead. It works fine in Firefox, but when I review the
    template or any pages made from the template in Internet Explorer
    the background image is not visible. I have checked my CSS with the
    W3C validator and there are no errors, so I am assuming that it is
    an IE problem. If anyone can help it would be great, as at least
    50% of the people who will wish to view the site I am trying to put
    together will be using IE.

    Assuming that this is the correct path to the background
    image, change
    this -
    background: url("../graphics/for banner.jpg")no-repeat right
    top;
    to this -
    background: url("../graphics/for banner.jpg") no-repeat right
    top;
    (note missing space after the closing parenthesis)
    Also, it's very bad form to have spaces in your
    file/pathnames. I suuggest
    that you rename those files.
