CSS Type selector won't work!!

Hello I am trying to do a simple CSS declaration. However, I got the warning"
Warning: css type selectors are not supported in components ‘sparks.component.TextInput’
and
Warning: css type selectors are not supported in components FormItem
"and not sure how to solve it. I thought s|(type) should declare the style for me :(. Thanks for the reply..
<fx:Style>
        @namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
        @namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx";
        s|TextInput{  //won't work on my TextInput
        color:#313131;
        mx|FormItem{
        padding-top:5; // won't work on my FormItem either....
    </fx:Style>
<s:Panel width="600" height="480" skinClass="skins.CustomPanel">
        <s:layout>
            <s:VerticalLayout paddingTop="7"/>
        </s:layout>
        <s:TextInput text="TextInput CSS not working"/>
         <mx:Form>
            <mx:FormHeading label="Please Enter The Information"/>
            <s:HGroup>
           <mx:FormItem>
              <s:Label text="Brand"/>
              <s:TextInput id="brand" text="CSS not working" width="156"/>
            </mx:FormItem>
         </mx:form>

I am trying to style my Alert box with the type selector now. mx|Alert still get me the same warning. This problem really bothers me now? I believe the issue comes from the namespace but I already declare them inside my style tag. Any help????
Thanks!

  • CSS type selectors are not supported in components ?

    If I put an <mx:Style> section in an MXML-based
    component, I get a number of warnings stating
    CSS type selectors are not supported in components. That
    said, the styles appear to actually work, and I'd sure
    like them to work. Is this a bug in the compiler, or is this
    truly not supported?

    Hi!
    I have the same problem when I apply a style to a Panel, I have a Canvas component and contains a Panel inside, but I fail to apply the css.
    I call the css from the main file main.mxml, but when I load the component will give a warning message and does not apply the style. "CSS type selectors are not supported in components: 'Panel' "

  • The CSS type selector ... was not processed, because this issue is not fixed in Flash Builder 4.

    "The CSS type selector 'mx.containers.Accordion' was not processed, because the type was not used in the application."
    I've had to filter out this useless warning since FB2, can't we get this removed or provide us with the ability in Flash Builder to turn on/off various types of warnings and errors?  Eclipse has this for Java, Adobe should use that as a basis and add a similar feature.
    Unless there's another way to hide this useless warning I'm not aware of?  Anyone using any kind of Flex theme that comes with a complete css style for all UI classes must be seeing this junk, but what's the point?

    Was hoping this silly warning would go away by the time FB4 came out, but nope.  So I am back to agitate.
    Does this even NEED to be a warning?  What's the harm in some unused css?  Actually, if the compiler is so smart that it can figure out that the css is unused, it should also be smart enough to ignore it entirely, right?
    The actual warning text (without inter-weaved joke) is:
    The CSS type selector 'mx.controls.RadioButton' was not processed, because the type was not used in the application.
    This is for EVERY unused class.  Makes it somewhat inconvenient (obscures real warnings and errors that you actually care about) to re-use css files, which is part of the point of using css in the first place.

  • Type CSS type selectors warning

    To add to Semphoric's excellent advice, make sure you're not typing white characters on a white background.

  • Camera xD Fuji/Olympus M-type card won't work on iBook

    I took photos with both an Olympus XD M type 1 gig
    card and the same M type Fuji card. Neither one can be read by either my Mac OS 9 or OS 10.3.9. The error message is that I "Inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read". This does not happen with my Fuji non M-Type 256 MB card. Is there something about the M type that can't be read by a Mac OS? How do I make my Mac read the M type cards? Olympus support told me it's a Mac problem. Is there a patch somewhere? Thanks. Respond to Rich at asa(at)asan.com

    Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
    You have posted in the iBook G3 (Dual USB) Forum.
    You may have better luck posting in the _Bluetooth, USB, FireWire, RAM (MacBook) Forum_. To start a topic of your own in that forum, look for the "Post New Topic" link at the top of the list of topics (at the left).
    Good luck. I'm sure you'll find a way to get them to work. You likely just need a new card reader that will work with the xD cards.

  • Help the T 'Type tool' won't work on Photoshop CC trial?

    I downloaded Photoshop CC recently and started editing a photo thinking all is going very well until I went to place text.  The text tool would not allow me to place text, all I got was a small square that wouldn't show any text.  Can you please advise me with what is happening and how to rectify this problem?  I am operating Windows 7 bit 64, HP Laptop.  Many Thanks!

    Hi thanks for trying to help.  I tried both options of drawing a square to type in and also just clicking and trying to type.  I also changed the type fonts, used Arial, Myriad Pro, Georgia and tried all sizes from 18 pt to even 600 pt.  I have googled all relevant trouble-shooting options surrounding the text type tool before coming on here as a last resort. Cheers

    Log Message:
    Fixing advanced CSS descendant selectors for the alpha release.
    - We now check descendant types against any superclass.
    - Removed StyleProtoChain.getClassStyleDeclarations()'s recursive "Class" lookup for each superclass of an IStyleClient during the search for type selectors in the hierarchy. This was replaced with a simple describeType-based description (called once per type).
    - Added a method to report whether any advanced styles had been registered with the StyleManager to optimize style declaration matching for the default case of simple style declarations.
    - Removed advanced selector cache key calculation from StyleProtoChain in favor of the legacy simple type level cache. Future work may be required to cache advanced, display list sensitive style information.
    - Fixed the specificity calculation for global selectors.

    AN UPDATE ON MY ISSUE:
    It appears to be limited to Dreamweaver. When I upload the files to my server and use BrowserLab or Microsoft SuperPreview the pages are rendering properly in all versions of IE. It's only broken when viewing in Design view within Dreamweaver or when using BrowserLab from within Dreamweaver. So at least I know my website works, which is a huge relief, but does anyone have any idea why Design view would complete ignore my styles? It's very annoying.

  • "podcast" media type in options won't work on MP3s in iTunes 11

    Why won't "podcast" MEDIA TYPE selection in OPTIONS work with mp3s anymore in iTunes 11? Trying to save some of my mp3s from a class as podcasts. I do this so I can run them at 1.5x speed and get through them faster. The option to change media type to PODCAST, when selected, doesn't stay selected. It keeps defaulting back to MUSIC. This just started with the new iTunes.

  • "completion insight" and "change case as you type" won't work for sql file

    Hi there,
    Just updated to 3.1 on my Mac Lion. It's very likely a bug since it used the work with 3.0.
    I have a "temp.sql" file where I store several queries. I start SQL Developer, open "temp.sql", connect to a DB but "completion insight" and "change case as you type" won't work anymore.
    If I click in "Unshared SQL Worksheet", the new worksheet tab will work fine with completion and change case, but I want to use my temp.sql and save things there when closing the application.
    To reproduce yourself the issue:
    Open SQL Dev, connect to a DB (it will open a worksheet), do some queries and check that change case and completion are working, quit SQL Dev, but save the worksheet in a sql file before. Re-open SQL Dev and open the sql file. Connect to the same DB and try to change the queries or create another. Completion and change case won't work anymore.

    Well, it's partially working, if your sql file is big (like mine), say with more than 1000 lines, then, maybe because of memory usage, the automatic completion won't work as expected, though, sometimes, after a while, crtl-space would stil work.
    So, the problem may have been addressed, but I believe this feature can be definitely improved.

    I'm trying to type in my credit card number in my iTunes account and it won't work?

    By 'won't work' you mean ? If you are getting an error message then what does it say ?
    For a card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are.

  • I use classical Hebrew for my work, and Pages will only display English characters even with a Hebrew font selected. If I cut and paste Hebrew characters from another document, as long as the font is supported, it will appear in Pages.  If I type it won't

    I use classical Hebrew for my work, and Pages will only display English characters even with a Hebrew font selected. If I cut and paste Hebrew characters from another document, as long as the font is supported, it will appear in Pages.  If I type it won't continue in Hebrew.  I have tried downloading several fonts, including those from professional societies, but the only way to get Hebrew in my document is to cut and paste.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  I use an older MacBook running OS 10.9.1.  I used to do my Hebrew work in Word, but it is no longer supported by Mac OS.

    Just clarifying:
    Pages '09 has bad support for Hebrew, Arabic etc but will accept pasted text.
    Pages 5 has much better support but with bugs.
    If you have columns they are in the wrong order ie Text starts in the left column and ends in the right column.
    If you type English into Hebrew text it tends to fall in the wrong position eg instead of to the left of Hebrew punctuation it goes to the right.
    As Tom recommends the only real solution on the Mac is Mellel.
    Peter
    btw Tell Apple, they are amazingly slow to fix this running sore which has been broken since RtoL was supposedly introduced in OSX 10.2.3 over a decade ago.

    Hi John
    IE10 even though it is playing 'catch up' on some features it has surpassed all the other browsers when it comes to typography, see - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2012/01/09/css-corner-using-the-whole-font.aspx

    You could achieve the same effect using an IE matrix transform in IE8 and below, (but I would not recommend this). The other possibility is to use IE9's transform property along with the content property, (this css property insert text into the document) that way when you hover over the image the 'extra' text is inserted. But this will not be a gradual slide-in as the transition property is required for that.
    The other alternative is to use jQuery's slide-in plug-in.
    (I am going to cause some disagreement now, so you have been warned!) -
    IE8 is now on a decline in usage for the home user, so if you are not targeting corporate or business users, don't worry about that browser too much. Also IE has now introduced an automatic browser upgrade into its normal updates system, (auto updates) so home users not on XP will have the newest version of IE installed for their system, (currently in Australasia, other regions by autumn of this year).
    XP will be IE8,(xp usage declining at approx 2% per month, currently 34% overall, (Microsofts figures not mine)) Vista will be IE9, Windows 7/8 will be IE10, but illegal copies of windows will not get these or any other updates.
