CSSExport.bat importexport.properties to Shared Services Migration
hello, I'm using the CSSExport.bat for migrating Shared Service.
from dos launch the CSSExport.bat , the file importexport is on the same directory, E: \ hyperion \ common \ utilities \ CssImportExportUtility \ cssimportexport \ importexport
CSSExport.bat importexport.propertiesbut there is a error:
"the system cannot find the path specified"
Can you help me?
thanks
Hi,
If using
E:\hyperion\common\utilities\CssImportExportUtility\cssimportexport\importexport\CSSExport.bat E:\hyperion\common\utilities\CssImportExportUtility\cssimportexport\importexport\importexport.properties
produces the same error then it points to a problem in the importexport.properties file, have you made sure that all the directory paths in that file are correct, such as importexport.css=file:/.....
Cheers

How to kill a shared services migration
Hi all,
We are trying to run a shared services migration, and it seems to be running horribly slow. I want to kill it-not sure what the implications are.
Anyways, what are my options to kill it?
Thanks,
SujaniMake sure you've done this if you have a problem: Re: Oracle EPM System Rel. 11.1.1.2 - Assign Essbase Filter in Shared Services
Follow John Goodwin's steps in this post: Unable to assign filters in Shared Services
Note Glenn's comment about sometimes having to assign the filters through MaxL because of issues although I think John's answer in the first post should help a lot.

Error during CSSExport.bat
Hi
I am trying to run the CSSExport.bat (file contents below). I am receiving the following command line error when trying to run:-
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/hyperion/css/exchange/CommandUtility
From previous searches I've found that the CommandUtility class that is getting called directly by Java is not included in my file, however I am not sure what I should add to my file to resolve this issue. Is anyone able to help by providing the line I should add to the file and where I should add it?
The confusing thing is both CSSExport.bat and importexport.properties are both the exact same files that have been used and worked before, the only change I can think of that may have had an effect is our system has been upgraded from 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 since the last time the utility has been used. Any help is appreciated.

I've tried running the export from command line using the full path and using cd and from what I can tell the paths in importexport/properties are correct.
Any suggestions? -
Shared Services User Directory
Hi Gurus,
I was wondering if there is a way of hiding the groups from the Microsoft Active Directory.
For example,
we want the users from Active directory, but when we check the properties of the users in shared services, it shows the user belonging to a lot of groups that are not hyperion-related. Is there a way to make sure that we see the user to be under only the native directory groups.
ThanksIn my production environment, i have a user "john"
When i look at the user's properties in shared services, the user is under only hyperion-related groups.
However, we have secondary environment, which we just imported the active directory, and on this one, the same user is under several more groups that are not related to hyperion, for example the user is under CITRIX group, and all other different ones.
Is it possible for us to filter so that the users will show only under the hyperion related groups -
Hyperion Shared Services Backup
Hi All,
We are taking the backup of Domain.xml, CSS.xml, slide.properties, WorkflowEngine.properties, manage_data.properties,openldap-data & slapd.conf. Can anyone let me know what does this files contain and the importane of it.
Regards,
Kris.Oh, so you've read the backup guide and want to know why you're backing these files up? Did you look at them in a text editor?
If you read the three bullet points at the top of the Shared Services Backup section, you will see that these files are:
* Shared Services application server configuration files
* OpenLDAP database configuration file
* All OpenLDAP data and log files
You are getting the noninstaller's perspective on these files, so you might want to see what others have to say on the subject.
Domain.xml -- Looks like a configuration file for Shared Services Could this be important: http://docs.sun.com/source/819-0221-10/crdomxml.html
CSS.xml -- external authentication config file
slide.properties -- looks like some kind of Apache config file tied to Shared Services Could this be important: http://jakarta.apache.org/slide/wck.html
WorkflowEngine.properties -- another Shared Services config file (I am seeing a trend)
manage_data.properties -- again, Shared Services, this one looks like a server name and port for the dreaded and hopefully truly dead HUB
openldap-data -- a folder that contains the OpenLDAP xml database files
slapd.conf -- Main config file for LDAP daemon. See: http://www.faqs.org/docs/securing/chap26sec213.html

CSSimport.bat error: while migrating the Shared Services groups and users
Hi,
I am trying to migrate the shared services native users and group from 9.3.1(on server A) to 11.1.1.3(on server B)
- I have taken the export in CSV format from 9.3.1 using CSSexport.bat.(export.csv) -Successful.
- I have copied this on the 11.1.1.3 server and changed lil details like removing the admin user etc.
- When I am trying the import this on 11.1.1.3, I am getting the below error:
CSSimport importexport.properties2010-10-11 09:36:41,328 Attempting a import operation
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (com.hyperion.css.common.CSSLogger).
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
null
Aborting program...
- There are not log or error files geting generated - The only error recieved , is given above.
- I have made the necessary changes to the impotexport.properties file on 11.1.1.3 before starting the CSSimport utility.
Can you please let meknow what should I do to overcome this error.
-thanks,
AnkitFirst thing I would try would be on the 11.1.1.3, try and run an export, if it works then run the import on the same file, this way you will make sure you have the version 11 utility working.
Once you have done that then you can move on to the 9.3.1 export file.
Cheers

Shared Services security export utility CSSExport.bat Error
Hi,
When I tried to export security from shared services 9.3.1.
I got following error:

I am able to connect to SS through IE and it is running.
Code is also working for me on another Shared Services 9.2.0 .
Please let me know if anyone else had same issue or any suggestion?Edit export.properties file and look for importexport.username and importexport.password. The password is encrypted. If you know the password for the account being used you can remove the encryption and replace it with the clear text password. After the utility runs it will re-encrypt the password.
We use the Admin account in our properties file. -
Error migrating Security from Shared Services.
Hi,
I was using Hyperion Planning 9.3.1's in Import/ Export utility in D:\Hyperion\common\utilities\CSSImportExportUtility\cssimportexport\importexport\CSSExport.bat. I'm trying to export Security from Shared Services into xml format. I get the following error message:
Malformed \uxxxx encoding
Anyone with similar experiences? Hyperion's impexp.pdf makes the steps so complicated!!Answering my own question:
Since I am in Windows, I was using backslashes in my paths when I updated file:
importexport.properties
The error went away after I changed the backslashes to forward slashes in all paths. -
How to define Migration Definition File in Shared Services Console
Hi expert,
I have seen the document and it says that user can define Migration Definition File in Shared Services Console. How to do it? Can you show me the steps? Thanks.
Best Regards
RickHi Rick,
I think what you are referring to is the "Save Migration Definition" button in LCM within the Shared Services web.
Basically, any thing that you do within Shared Services LCM utility (GUI) can be saved to .xml file for reusing the migration properties another time.
See this post for more information

Migrating shared services registry from version 9 to version 11.1.1.3
Good day all,
I'm currently doing a migration of Hyperion Shared Services from version 9.3 to version 11.1.1.3 on different servers. Right now, I have imported the users, groups, and the roles from version 9 to version 11, but I'm having troubles migrating its registry.
Could you please guide me on where to start on this process?
Thank you very much.
Edited by: 26FEB1986 on May 18, 2011 5:59 AMDude,
You may possibly get by using LifeCycle Managment. Have you tried that?
http://www.artofbi.com/index.php/2009/08/hyperion-11-lifecycle-management-lcm-in-action-part-1/
You may have to tweak the resulting output files a bit for version 9 vs 11 but this would give you a good starting place.
Please award points if that helps. -
Currently thinking about migrating two cubes: one in version 6 and one in version 7 to 11.1.2. Here are the steps I am considering following:
- Recreated the applications in EAS version 11.1.2.
- Copy over .otl, .rul, .csc etc files.
- The .cfg files in 11.1.2 - not sure what to do about this one. Do they have to be the same as in the previous versions? What do I do about the configuration settings that have changed from the old versions to new versions.
- Security. Version 6 and 7 dont have shared services. So does security have to be recreated from scratch?
I found a wealth of info on migrations on these forums, but these two particular questions evaded me.For security have a look at the Advanced security manager, free tool :- http://www.appliedolap.com/free-tools/advanced-security-manager
Failing that you could look at extracting the security information using maxl/esscmd then pushing it into 11.1.2 using maxl or LCM
Cheers
