Ctrl-q issues

Hi!
I have the following complaint of application users: when they have a form in enter-query mode and they press ctrl-q, which is mentioned in the status bar to be used to cancel the query, they exit the entire application.
I dived into the headstart templates and libraries, and find in qmslib, qms$form.key_exit that ctrl-q is used to distinguish between form-closing and mdi-closing.
Is there a way to remove the ctrl-q shortcut for application closing, so users can use it to cancel query-mode, but so that closing of the mdi-window will still close the entire application?
Or is there a way to remove the "press ctrl-q to cancel query" message from the status bar?

Hi,
You might not expect this but...
Take a look at your menu template!
In the view_menu.cancel_query, property Keyboard accellerator is set to "Exit".
This makes the form go to the keyboard mapping file and lookup which action is attached to the Exit action.
Make sure this text in the accelerator property synchronizes with the proper action in qmsrf65w.res:
Cancel Query, NOT Exit!!!
I logged bug 3415750 for this behaviour in the bug database.
Hope this helps,
Kind regards,

  • Tecra M10 - Stuck CTRL key issue -- perhaps to do with BIOS?

    Hello and thanks for reading.
    I recently switched my Tecra M10 to Windows 7 (from XP) and it soon developed the dreaded "stuck CTRL key" issue. This causes the keyboard to behave as if the CTRL key is permanently depressed. Sometimes hitting a combination of keys, or bringing up the onscreen keyboard, temporarily solves the issue, but then it returns.
    It seems to be an issue many people have, with no simple solution. I've looked at every thread about it I can find, and tried many things to do with drivers etc. without any success.
    So firstly, if anyone knows a remedy that works for this particular machine, I would be very grateful to learn it!
    Then, there are two things I've not yet done: update BIOS and disable pinch zoom.
    I was looking at the following BIOS update:
    http://www.toshiba-asia.com/sg/support/drivers/details/25244
    ... which is version 3.00 and seems to be most recent. My own version is 1.90.
    However version 3.00 is labelled "For PTMB0* ONLY". I don't know what this means or whether it applies to me. Can anyone help? Should I install this BIOS?
    For the pinch zoom, I've been told that disabling it does sometimes cure the CTRL problem -- but I can't find any pinch zoom facility on the M10. I suspect it simply doesn't have one. Is that right?
    Many thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi
    > I was looking at the following BIOS update. which is version 3.00 and seems to be most recent. My own version is 1.90.
    There are different Tecra M10 models on the market.
    Check the labels at the bottom of the unit. There you should find some numbers like for example PTMB0E-01K00LGR
    The first 6 characters are important: for example PTMB0E
    I assume your notebook belongs to European series.
    In such case you should check the Toshiba EU driver page for possible BIOS update.
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    However, on Toshiba EU driver page you will find also the BIOS v3.0 for all European Tecra M10 units.
    Anyway, back to the CTRL button issue: guess what, you should connect an external USB keyboard and should check how the CTRL button acts.
    In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the CTRL button of internal keyboard is affected and you will need to replace the internal keyboard.
    PS: it could be possible that the option "sticky keys" has been enabled. To disable this function, you have to press SHIFT button 5 times in the row.

  • Ctrl+0 issue

    In ACR and DNG Profile editor, Ctrl+0 doesn't work if 0 on numerical keyboard is used. It works in Photoshop though. Also, Ctrl+ and Ctrl- combinations work in ACR and Profile Editor with + and - from num. keyboard
    Using Windows platform, eastern european keyboard layout (tried english layout and it also didn't work)
    Anybody noticed this?

    Yup. Same here with English keyboard. Also with CTRL ALT and 0 (for 100%).
    CTRL ALT Page Up and Page Down to move left to right across a zoomed in image doesn't work in ACR either.

  • Ctrl click issues

    I downloaded the upgrade for Safari and now when I control click on a link, half of the options say "localized string not found" and I have trouble getting some web pages to display correctly. Also, I can't seem to get the version of Safari that lets you open new tabs - is that only for a newer OS?

    You're welcome.
    To move from 1.2, you'll need to first apply the 10.3.9 combined update to upgrade Safari to 1.3. While the update is running, do not use the computer for any other tasks (good upgrade strategy). Once completed and the computer restarts, "repair permissions" using Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    Next, apply the 1.3.1 update, followed by the 1.3.2 update. Once finished, again "repair permissions".

  • The webpage does not load after pressing enter or CTRL+ENTER. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate

    I have tried installing the older version Firefox 3.6. After entering the URL on address bar it does not load after pressing enter or CTRL+ENTER

    This issue can be caused by an extension (AVG Safe Search can cause this) that isn't working properly.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Search & Replace / FTP connectivity / ctrl + B, ctrl + c

    Hi all,
    CS4 Search and Replace / FTP connectivity ISSUES:
    I use Search and replace tools for some large replace operations on live websites.. However when searching and replacing.. Dreamweaver is constantly having to establish a connection between the server for each file I search and replace in.
    Programs like Pspad have this down to a T. Any chance we can have an update to make the search and replace is faster. It's utterly useless at the moment.
    Biggest problem is if the connection to the server fails whilst searching and replacing text in a document.. The file gets removed from the server.. I have lost now 3 website pages because of this. I edit files live because they are within a test environment.. I don't like working locally because I know programs like Pspad are capable of being extremely fast at editing live.
    Because of this issue, I have had to stop using dreamweaver CS4 for now..
    ctrl + B, ctrl + C ISSUES
    When pressing ctrl + b to add strong tags to text.. Sometimes it doesn't work and I have to goto the keyboard tag editor.. close it again.. Then it works again. So there's a bug there.
    And sometimes ctrl + c copies as if it does (ctrl + a, ctrl + c) ... And it stops once again when I goto keyboard tags and close it again..
    Explain that hehe!
    All the best and thanks in advance.

  • Code Navigation Issues

    This is such a basic keyboard navigation shortcut, and yet
    since I have installed Creative Suite CS4 Web Premium, it gives me
    this problem. I also have other random issues that are similar in
    nature such as CTRL-PgDn and so on. These things are like your
    little toe -- you only notice it when it's broken!
    I have uninstalled and reinstalled but no luck. Running on 64

    Creative Suite CS3 before this "upgrade". Adobe support is
    absolutely barren of anything even closely resembling this problem
    so I am stuck. Any thoughts or direction would be
    appreciated.

    Well, I do understand that they do hurt....

  • Windows no longer fit

    I have a macbook pro running 10.6.3 and whenever I open a program the image displayed within the program is zoomed in. It isn't the entire screen, so it's not a resolution issue, nor is it universal access or a ctrl+scroll issue. also tried command'/-' and that didn't work, though it did change the size of many (not all) of the things on screen.
    Anyone know what's up?
    Thanks!

    Your first step is to probably install the updates and then look for a solution. It may already be fixed with the updates.

  • Some component eat my F8 key

    Hello,
    I've got the problem with some component in my app.
    In menu bar I've got accelerators for F5, F6, F7, F8. what is funny F5 and F7 works, but F6 and F8 are eaten by some component.
    I've seen similar problems on Forum (with i.e. Ctrl-C issue)
    One solution is to clear ActionMap for components and their parents, but i've got nothing from getActionMap() (i mean no bindings) for component (JSplitPane) which for 100% do something on F8 pressed.
    Second fix is to make global handlind, but i'd avoidit.
    How to find that component? What so spcial with F8 or F6/
    thanks
    Seb

    Also try:
    AWTEvent.MOUSE_EVENT_MASK);
              toolkit.addAWTEventListener(FunctionKeyListener, AWTEvent.KEY_EVENT_MASK);
    FunctionKeyListener= new AWTEventListener() {
         public void eventDispatched(AWTEvent event) {
              // Only for key events
              if (event.getID() == KeyEvent.KEY_PRESSED) {
                   KeyEvent ke = (KeyEvent)event;
                   if (ke.getKeyCode() == KeyEvent.VF_F8) {
                        ke.consume();
    // do something
    It works for me.

  • Find/Invent "free" keys for keybindings ...

    .. as opposed to those which are bound by default. Sure that's completely un-understandable <g>. So here's my concrete problem:
    The requirement is a keybinding to an action like "clear all fields", like f.i. in a form (aka: arbitrary container with lots of children and grand-grand-children) after already having entered some stuff. That keybinding should work from any component which currently has the focus. The location for the binding is easy enough: that's the inputMap of type WHEN_ANCESTOR of the form.
    The problem is to find a key which is (no no particular order)
    - not used locally by any of those arbitrary input components
    - is not used by the OS
    - is intuitive enough for the user
    Thingies I'm trying/thinking about trying
    Escape with some modifier (the bare esc is already too widely used, f.i. as undo in JFormattedTextField).
    - alt is out off question (menu acc)
    - ctrl was my favourite, until seeing window's startMenu opening
    - shift looked like a nice way out, until I got the no-no because it's swallowed somehow/where in win7
    In hind-sight, I could have known the ctrl-esc issue and started with looking at the ui system bindings first. That wouldn't have found the shift-esc on win7, though. So whatever a candidate key (can think of deleted, backspace-delete, what else is intuitive enough) might be, it has to be really tested on all major versions of all major OSs?
    From the old database (okay, okay, MS Access is not a db ;-) days I think I remember that esc-esc cleared the form. But I expect that to be (note to myself: what about a quick try?) ... a hell to implement in swing: too many core components swallow escapes even if they do nothing with it. Every sloppy implementation of someUIAction.isEnabled will blow up the binding.
    On the whole, I reached the clueless end. Ideas highly welcome!
    Cheers
    Jeanette

    thanks for checking :-)
    BTW, there's a page in wikipedia comparing default bindings across OSs. Don't know how good that is, but seems to have enough references to check in the original documents:

    Cheers

  • Cisco 3945 password recovery

    I observed two cisco 3945 routers lose IOS during password recovery. Router was rebooted, break sequence ctrl-break, then boot(instead of reset) issued. The router booted to its existing configuration or password recovery failed and router was power cycled again then ctrl-break issued. However this time the IOS was gone and all flash file systems were blank! It happened on two routers. Anyone know why such an anomaly would occur or has anyone witnessed such?

    config register was set to confreg 0X2142 first time password recovery was attempted. It took but only after the power cycle(not when I simply typed boot) but by then the IOS images were gone. I found that very disturbing when it happened on two different routers and I never saw such a thing happen to a router before.

  • How do I disable certain hotkeys?

    I'm trying to disable certain hotkeys because I keep pressing them by accident. I press CTRL+Q when I was trying to close tab (CTRL+W) and firefox closes completely.
    Similarly, when I'm typing in a web form, and accidentally press ctrl+k (Emacs habit), the page suddenly goes to google. BTW, it only started doing that when I removed the search box from the toolbar, otherwise it would focus the google box in the top right and I'd have to mouse back to the form, which is still annoying.
    I'd like to disable any hotkey in Firefox. Not change, but disable completely. I found an addon which disables ctrl+q but that doesn't solve my ctrl+k issue.
    I use Firefox on both Linux and Windows.

    What the Disable Ctrl-Q Shortcut extension does is set a disable attribute to the #key_quitApplication shortcut.
    *https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/disable-ctrl-q-shortcut/
    Try to modify the bootstrap.js file in the disable_ctrl_q_shortcut-20120821-fx-linux.xpi ZIP archive to disable the #key_search shortcut.<br />
    You can use the DOM Inspector if you want to disable more keyboard shortcuts.
    <br />
    <pre><nowiki> toggle: function(window, value) {
    var shortcut = window.document.getElementById("key_quitApplication");
    if (shortcut)
    shortcut.setAttribute("disabled", value);
    var shortcut = window.document.getElementById("key_search");
    if (shortcut)
    shortcut.setAttribute("disabled", value);
    </nowiki></pre>

  • Losing Selection Highlite problem

    Hey guys,
    On my laptop (HP Pavillion) I have Illo CS4 and Vista.
    Suddenly when I select text with the text cursor I can't see the highlighted text... it is selected because I can change fonts size etc.
    Also when I select a shape with the black or white cursors, Initially on selection I can see the handles, then they dissapear, I can still affect the object but am doing it blind. It is not a Ctrl B issue.
    Every thing was working just fine.
    Does anybody have any ideas.
    TIA
    Chris

    Thanks Harron,
    I will try this out when I get home, I'll keep you posted.

  • Form query/search issue F6 , F11 + Ctrl F11

    Dear Techies,
    I have an issue with form query/search mode in oracle applications. The Issue is i have a custom form which has headers and lines. whenever i open the form cursor is defaulting on a column called "Transaction_year" which is a mandatory column, Because of this whenever i want to search first I have to clear the record (Press F6) then press F11 and CTRl F11.
    And my client is irritated to press so many buttons. I cannot make mandatory col to optional since it is "Transaction_year" a primary key. I have to customize the form in such a way that it should allow f11 + ctrl f11 to search.
    Can somebody help me how can i achieve this. I am new to forms :(

    I have written this code in form level - when new form instance trigger
    go_item('XXDOF_PA_PRJCST_HEADERS.FIN_APPRVER_DEPT');
    this is a optional field ... and when when i open form it is defaulting to this ... still f11 + ctrl f11 is not working ... i have to clear it (f6) and then press f11 + ctrl f11

  • Left ctrl+alt+up arrow issue

    Have a rather custom setup, believe this to be a BIOS bug.
    When the Fn and Ctrl keys are swapped in BIOS, Left CTRL+ALT+UP arrow doesn't do anything unless or until you release either CTRL or ALT.  At that point it sends a single keypress event with no repeat.  To send another, you have to release and re-press all three keys down again and release ctrl or alt again.  Rather annoying on Linux with multiple workspaces and switching them with ctrl+alt+up/down
    Right CTRL+ALT+UP works fine.  Any combination works fine such as left CTRL and right ALT and up, or switch them.  It's just when you use left ctrl and left alt and up that it doesn't send anything.
    Left ctrl+alt+down/left/right all work fine - it's only the up key that doesn't send keypress events.  Also works fine with an external keyboard.
    I run Linux on my twist, and debugging with xev or even just cat'ing the keyboard input device shows no keystroke sent upon hitting the up arrow while holding down left ctrl and left alt.  So this isn't a software issue by any means.

    You are not alone, bad news is that it's not a Twist issue, affects several models and some quite old too...
