Cubemember MDX in Excel; how to exclude just one piece of a data set?

I have a large and complicated workbook that uses thousands of cubemember and cubevalue formulas. Due to some company changes, I am in the process of altering my workbook to point to a new cube that has substantially the same data. Below is a highly simplified
example of my formulas.
One area in which the cubes differ is that the
old cube pre-grouped a raw data field into two categories, let's call them "apples" and "all fruit except apples". Thenew cube still has apples, but lists all the other fruit separately
(oranges, bananas, pears, grapes, etc).
I can still use my cubemember formula to grab my "apples" category, but I'm having trouble figuring out the syntax to return everything except apples.
My original formulas:
=CUBEMEMBER("ICCA","[CPF].[PC].[Apples]")
=CUBEMEMBER("ICCA","[CPF].[PC].[NOT_Apples]")
My best attempt in the new cube:
=CUBEMEMBER("ICCB",Exclude({"[CPF].[PC].[All]"},{"[CPF].[PC].[Apples]"})
However, Excel does not accept this syntax (I get a #Name error)
Note that my goal here is to create a cubemember set, not to actually pull values from the cube- that comes later, with all the dependent cubevalue formulas.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated- I tried the Excel/Office forum and the Excel/Developer forums with no luck, the forum administrator pointed me here.

I'll have to do more testing to make sure it is actually doing what I want, but I finally found a syntax combination that doesn't give me an error:
=CUBEMEMBER("ICCB","Except([CPF].[PC].[All],[CPF].[PC].[Apples])")
I'm guessing the curly brackets are only needed if there are multiple exclusion parameters?

EDIT: Nope, that didn't work. It returned the word 'ALL' in the cell, which I thought might be a placeholder (because I'm not sure how it would express "All minus a specific subset"), but when I run totals with and without the exception/exclusion
criteria I'm getting the same number, so I know the subset is not being removed.
Final edit: I now have a working formula:
=CUBEMEMBER("ICCB","Except([CPF].[PC].[All].children,[CPF].[PC].[Apples])")
Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.

How do I listen to just one album in a box set?

If I load a large box set of CDs into iTunes, I seem to have one of two choices for how to click 'play'. One is to click the master play button, which starts the box set on CD1, track1. The other is to click on one of the tracks in the box set - usually track1 if I want to hear that particular CD. The problem is that neither of these options allows me to listen to one CD by itself - with iTunes stopping after the CD is finished. It just rolls into the next CD and keeps playing.
Album view is cool in that it plays an album just like a CD - ie, iTunes stops after the album is done.
But the box set feature doesn't seem to allow this. Wherever you click from, it will play through to the end of the box set.
Has anyone figured out how to play just one CD in iTunes when it's part of a large box set?

Thanks for the reply, Curt. Sounds like you're aware of what I'm saying and that you're not aware of a way to do it either. Yep, I know about changing the album name and then having all 40 different albums from a boxed set in album view, all with the same artwork. That doesn't work for me.
I don't think boxset-view (or whatever we call it) is really effective unless there is both a master play button at the top of iTunes to play through the whole box ... AND dedicated play buttons next to each album - which will allow each album to be heard individually.
That, to me, is a common-sense feature that's long overdue. I guess there are not enough boxset users for iTunes developers to make that a priority.
I was just asking if anyone knew how to do it ... some button I'm not aware of or something.

Is there any way how to synchronize just one particular folder with bookmarks between different PC? I have found a several options how to synchronize all bookmarks between PCs, but none of them has the option to pick just one particular folder.

No, it is all or nothing. You can't select which bookmarks folders to sync.

Adding 365 won't always work because of leap years.
You could use the following SQL statement:

How to use just one account in the domain to login to the right server having access to the right resources. Even when a user works on 4 different sites ...

We have one domain with about 36 sites. On the sites we use (2008R2 / 2012R2) RODC's .
All workstations have Windows 7.
Some users work on several sites. We want the user to just be able to use one account and the environment to see on which site the user logs in, so the right script can be loaded and the appropiate resources like data and printers are available.
We have several users working on 4 sites (different schools) doing their work fot that specific site overthere.
I want the system to see where a user logs in (can be on IP address), so we can give the users just one account that will work as it should.
I like to get some ideas or advise on how to get it done.

Use Group Policy Objects and link them to your sites as appropriate...

How to play just one song?

How can I get my iPod to play just one musical piece--to not automatically go on and play every song after it continuously? I listen to classical and symphonies can be 40-60 minutes long. I would like it to stop after one so I can then choose another. Can I set it to stop after each selection?

What happens if you go into the artist or album lis and juts pick the one album it is on? I am fairly sure that when you play an album, it plays everything in the album and then stops.
So if your symphony is a single album, you should be able to pick the album and play it that way (vs. going in and searching for the song in the big song list).

How to stop just one item being reset when sumbit is pressed?

How can i keep the value of just one item when the submit button is pressed. This field will always be the user id of the user logged on so i dont want it to be reset. I have tired doing a simple query to select the id everytime the page loads but the value then appears null when i do an insert statement to create a particular record for the user in a table.

Right I could see how the APP_USER would work but it wouldn’t work in this situation.
To be more specific I want the id of the user which is called student id to stay the same all the way through the application as there id refers to them. What I have is that when a user logs on it takes them to their details and a menu part. One of the options is to enter some documents relevant to them. So when they click this option a new page opens showing a report of all the current documents as well as a form where you can update, insert new and delete documents.
When you load the page the report and form work fine with the correct student id being passed form the pervious page. If however you create a document all the fields in the form get reset. I therefore want a way of stopping the student id from being reset when you create or delete a document. Basically if the page refreshes.
I can run an sql query that gets the correct student id if the field is null and displays it correctly in the form but for some reasons (im guessing cos its a result of a query) when it tries to process this when I submit the field is null.
Any ideas as this one has got me

How to delete just one page in Pages 4.3

Hello I am having an issue with trying to delete just one page out of the 47 pages that I have created.
If I try to delete page 12 it will delete 12-47 instead of just page 12.
I also cant seem to move or adjust the yellow box in thumnails in order to select just one page. It has them all selected.
Another issue is when i try to delete a large text box, which i created to make a frame on my page. It will also delete all the pages after it. So its making it very difficut to make any changes.
I have searched through many forums and havent had any luck by using their methods.

Forget about the page thumbnails.
Let's say that page 12 is in the middle of a section and you want to delete it.
On page 12, in the actual document, not the thumbnails, click somewhere in the first line of text so that the cursor appears. Use the left arrow key to move the cursor until it is just before the first letter on the line. Now, from the Insert menu, insert a Section Break (not a section).
On page 13, do the same thing; i.e. insert a Section Break before the first character.
Now you can go to the thumbnails, click on the Page 12 thumbnail and it will be a section all by itself. Click the Delete key.
(I am sort of assuming that there are no invisible characters before the first one that you see, but if there are, you obviously have to get before them too.)

How to have just one of many stickies open on the desktop?

Select the text in the sticky and drag it to the Desktop to create a text clipping (.textClipping). You can then open the clipping by double clicking on it or selecting it and tapping the Spacebar.

How to migrate just one email account to another computer not the whole profile

I have several email accounts in the default profile. I added an account to help a friend scrape email off a webmail server to solve his quota problem. They are visible in their separate inbox and folders. Now I want to "export" his emails in a format that can be imported into his newly installed Thunderbird. If I back up and restore the whole profile won't it take all of my accounts with it? Don't want that. Just want to move his data.

You could use ImportExportTools addon.

To install addon:
In Thunderbird
* Tools > addons
* click on gear wheel icon
* select; Install addon from file
* locate the file you downloaded and click on Open
You may need to restart Thunderbird.
To use the tool:
* Right click on folder - select 'ImportExporttools > Export folder
note: If Pop mail account - no worries as everything is stored in TB profile.
If IMAP mail account, make sure all subscribed folders were synchronised to get an mbox copy in the Profile folder as subscribed folders (not synchronised) only download headers. Then go offline mode (this temporarilly stops synchronising) to Export them.
When all folders are exported, you can copy then to a suitable medium eg: usb stick, so that your friend can copy them to another computer.
Your friend could use the same addon to Import those folders into Thunderbird after creating the mail account.
When you have exported all of the folders with emails, you could remove the mail account.
* Tools > account Settings
* select the mail account
* click on 'Account actions'
* select 'Remove account'
* click on OK
You may then need to also remove them from your Profile folder.

click on 'Mail' folder (has pop mail accounts and Local folders) or ImapMail fo IMAP folders and look for and delete your friends mail account name folder.

Is that when you are closing a window and/or Firefox?
To close the active tab you can use "Ctrl+W" or the tab context menu.

How to publish just one site if you have multiple?

I've searched and nothing seems to be quite covering this question, although I admittedly am not the most patient of searchers...
So, I have about 5 sites in my iWeb. I'm trying to publish *one site* to a folder on the hard drive so I can then use my FTP client to publish to my site. Everytime I've done this (published to a folder), iWeb republishes all of my sites, and some are quite large. Anyway around this or am I missing something? I was considering just deleting my old sites from iWeb, but that seems a bit extreme.

Hi Audrey, Bear in mind that I haven't tried this myself, but anyway: How about setting up a different User Account on your Mac for each site that you want to publish separately? ...You would then login as the particular user for the site you want to work on and iWeb would then operate on its unique Domain file in:
Username/Library/Application Support/iWeb
To divide up your current multi-site Domain, I suppose you would have copy it to the above location for each new user account you set up. Then in iWeb delete the sites you don't want that user to control. (Backup your Domain file somewhere safe before embarking on this.)

You can create individual user accounts for each person who uses your computer. Each new user has a separate home folder and can adjust his or her own preferences without affecting other users.

I have an iphone and a New ipad. When I set up my ipad, I had already had my iphone backed up on iCloud. I didn't however, use the backup to set up the iPad, so some of the apps don't have the same data on both devices. This is mostly fine with me. I was able to sync my games so that I can play the games on both devices and not lose any data or progress in the game. There is only one game that I haven't been able to get onto the ipad with the progress that I have made, even though it's been backed up on the iCloud. Now both devices are being backed up on the iCloud. Some information is shared between them, some not. I have no idea why it's arbitrary which info is shared. But I would like to get the one game (and perhaps a few other apps) to sync between the devices. Is there a way to do this by targeting specific apps and their respective data?

The game that we are playing is called Swordigo ... A Zelda type game just FYI. When I installed the app I went into the Settings>Swordigo>sync saves to iCloud>On. That set it up to sync up to three different saves in iCloud because that is what this game offers.
Then my daughter downloaded the app to her iPad ( the original one that I gave her when I upgraded to the new one). We share an Apple ID for purchases.
When either of us launches the game on our iPads - the option to start from either save is already available in the game. The game supports this. Not all games will support it but you make it sound like your game does sync saves to iCloud.
There is a difference between saving data to iCloud and syncing game saves. The beauty of the syncing of saves is that I could download this game to my iPod touch as well and still pick up my "saved" game from iCloud,

How to authorize just one of two devices with one account.

Well, the problem is simple. I have one Apple Apps account, one iPhone, mine, and an iPod Touch given away to my cousin. The iTunes account that is available on an iPhone and iPod Touch is transferred to the device via the iTunes sync process - with the iTunes account that iTunes is logged in to when syncing the device with iTunes.
The only way to resolve this and remove your iTunes account from the Touch is restoring the Touch with iTunes as a new Touch followed by not syncing iTunes content with the same iTunes account. Let your rebel cousin fend for himself with his own iTunes account followed by purchasing and downloading his own iTunes content. That way when trying to be a rebel by purchasing iTunes content with someone else's account and not respecting your wishes - especially after giving him this Touch along with free iTunes account purchased with your iTunes account, he needs to learn what consequences can mean when not respecting you and your wishes. Or take the Touch away from him. I believe it sounds like it is time for some tough love.
