Cumulated values, but last column sometimes empty

Hi,
We have a report which cumlated an amount key figure per fiscal period. The query shows the following results:
001.2009   002.2009   003.2009  004.2009
10                 20               30         40          --> every month we get +10
But know we have a data record, were we have no value for april and the report shows the following results:
001.2009   002.2009   003.2009  004.2009
10                 20               30
The last column is empty. Can somebody explain me this result? Is this normal? If I show the total cumulated result, the result is correct.
Thank you very much.
Jessica

Hi,
I suppose there is no data posted for Month of April and calmonth reads data from master data not the posted data, if it is right then the query is running fine.

    Oracle 10.2.0.3 , sol 10. (recently upgraded from oracle9i & sol8)
sql query is used to populate a table. sometimes it is populating same values for all the records in 2 columns. Sometimes not populating or partially populating 1 other column. other times its running fine.
SQL is not changed at all. When run again , it populates correctly.
    any help is highly appreciatied.

I found the problem. The iterator which sum the coulmn was at the last after the second sum, so it return null.
So I replaced the hasNext() function with getAllRowsInRange() and now it is OK.

  • Subsequent use of cumulated value in query

    Hi All,
We are using BEx Query Designer to create a query having one formula variable “Stock on Hand” as a cumulated value (along the columns). Now we need to use this cumulated value in another formula variable. Is this possible to do? If not could you please suggest an alternate for the same?
Stock on hand (for any given week) = (Total Receipts – Total Demand) + Stock on Hand (for previous week).
Inv. Carrying Cost (for any given week) = Stock on hand (cumulated values as above) * Per unit inv. cost
Data for Total Receipts, Total Demand and Per unit Inv. Cost is present in the infocube at daily level. A sample report template has been given below:
    Product    Location       Week                      W1   W2    W3
       P1                L1        Total Demand           10     10     10
                                      Total Receipts           20      0       5
                                      Stock on Hand          10      0      -10
                                      Per unit Inv. Cost        2       2       2
                                      Inv. Carrying cost       20      0      -20
Points assigned in advance for your replies
    Regards,
    Bansi.

    Hi PV,
Thanks for the prompt reply. But we have already created two different formulae variables for the above requirement.
The formula variable for Stock on hand is displaying the desired cumulative values. But the formula for Inv. Carrying cost is not able to use the display-value (cumulative value) of Stock on hand and it just uses the value corresponding to that particular week. For eg.
for w2 if stock on hand =20 (cumulative value displayed on screen)
and the original value of stock on hand for w2 = 0
then the formula for Inv. carrying cost is using the original value(i.e. 0) but not the display value(i.e.20), whereas we want the cumulative value (i.e. 20) for our calculation.
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bansi.

  • Getting a percentage on cumulative values in Bex Query

We have a Bex Query where we have 4 columns. For the actual and projected attendence, I'm displaying cumulative values and a percentage.  I want the percentage to be based on the cumulative values, but it's giving it to me based on the actual values (what's coming in, not what's being displayed).  How do I get it to do the calculation on the displayed values?
This is the actual data coming through:
    Month/yr____actl att___________ proj att
    01/2005_____10________________10
    02/2005_____10________________10
    03/2005_____10 ________________20
    What I'm getting now:
    Month/yr_____cumulative actl att_____cumulative proj att_____percentage
    01/2005_____10____________________20_________________50%
    02/2005_____ 20 ___________________30________________100%
    03/2005 _____30 ___________________50_________________50%
    What I want is:
    Month/yr_____cumulative actl att_____cumulative proj att_____percentage
    01/2005_____ 10 _____________________20_______________50%
    02/2005______20_____________________30_______________66.67%
    03/2005______30_____________________50_______________60%

    Julie,
The OLAp processor in BI cannot take cumulated values - that is  - once you cumulate your values - the cumulated values cannot be used further in BeX formulae - even if you use them the actual values will be used.
    Month/yr____actl att___________ proj att
    01/2005_____10________________10
    02/2005_____10________________10
    03/2005_____10 ________________20
    What I'm getting now:
    Month/yr_____cumulative actl att_____cumulative proj att_____percentage
    01/2005_____10____________________20_________________50%
    02/2005_____ 20 ___________________30________________100%
    03/2005 _____30 ___________________50_________________50%
    What I want is:
    Month/yr_____cumulative actl att_____cumulative proj att_____percentage
    01/2005_____ 10 _____________________20_______________50%
    02/2005______20_____________________30_______________66.67%
    03/2005______30_____________________50_______________60%
This would mean you will not get the desired output - the only way to do that is to use local macros / formulae in the workbook.

    Hope it helps...

  • Ragged right with Flat file in SSIS for last column

When I am importing from Flat file to OLEDB using DATA flow in SSIS,
It has fixed length  for each column
but last column had length of 20
So I used for last column as {LF} and input width 0 & output width 20
but facing problem of last column has showing more data in preview so I am missing some some records
    May I get any  solution
    Thanks

    Hi Madhu,
I totally agree with Visakh. If your row delimiter is {CR}{LF}, you need to consider the two placeholders for the delimiter when defining the column length, that is to say you need to set the length of the last column to 22.

  • How to check the maximum Value and Last value in Reports CP column

    Hi all
First of all i am sory that iam posting this question in forms instead of Reports....i had posted it in reports but no one reply and i need uirgent solution so I post here....
My problem is that in Report I have calculated some values in CP column......Like
    :CP_Total := :Frieght * Rate ...etc
Know i want to ask that how can I get the last value that will be return the by this column????and also the maximum value that it will return
    Thanks in advance
    Shayan
    [email protected]

You mast build Summary column out of the query and select maximum to your maximum value of CP in Report level (or last for last value).

  • Show row/column with empty dimension values.

I have 2 columns where 1 column is dimension and 1 column is measure.  I need to hide the row when the dimension is empty.
What I did is at the block I UN-TICK  "Show row/column with empty dimension values".  But it didnt works.
    Thanks.

click on the block and add a filter with condition dimension isnotnull. this will eliminate the dimension rows with empty values.

  • Last column value

Looking for simplest way to return last value in a column that is regularly added to.  No blanks between numbers in the column.  Would like to return the value to a given cell.  Can do this in excel but having difficulty in numbers.  Thanks.

    Hi trexo,
Jerry's original solution, reproduced here, may be placed in any cell on the same table as the list of values in column B.
    =OFFSET(B1, COUNT(B), 0)
It assumes that the first value in the list is in cell B2 (one row below the label in Row 1), and that (as you specified) there are no gaps in the data from that cell to the last one containing a value.
COUNT(B) counts the numerical values entered in column B; the result is used as the row-offset in the OFFSET function. Zero ( 0 ), the column-offset value in the formula, means 'the same column as the base, B1'.
    Your Excel formula:
    =index(D:D, Match(9.9999999999999E+307,D:D))
MATCH returns the position of the specified value in a list of values in a range.
The range here is column D, and the value to match (expressed as a base 10 number) is
99999999999999 followed by 294 zeroes, a rather large number, likely to be far greater than the largest number in column D.
MATCH in numbers can be set to find the largest close match, the smallest close match, or an exact match, with 'largest close match' the default choice. My assumption is that this is also true in Excel. If so, the expression in your Excel formula is looking for the "largest number in column D that is smaller than or equal to the search value."
IF the last number in the column is also the largest number in the column (and that number is smaller than 9.9999999999999E+307), then the formula will return the correct value. If the last value in column D is NOT also the largest value in column D, OR is larger than the search value, then the formula will not return the 'last value' in column D.
A Numbers similar to this would be:
    =OFFSET(D1,MATCH(9.9999999999999E+307,$D)-1,0)
Here's an example, showing the results. The formula above is in B2; the same formula with the cell references changed to E1 and $E is in B3:
Note that both return the largest value in their column, not necessarily the 'last' value in that column.

  • [Forum FAQ] SharePoint 2013: Extracting values from a multi-value enabled lookup column and merge values to a multi-value enabled column

For some business requirements, users want to extract values from a multi-value enabled lookup column
and add items to another list based on each separate value. In contrast, others want to find duplicate values in the list and merge associated values to a multi-value enabled column and then
add items to another list based on the merged value. All of these can be achieved using SharePoint Designer 2013 Workflow.
How to extract values from a multi-value enabled lookup column and add items to another list based
on each separate value using SharePoint Designer 2013.

merged value using SharePoint Designer 2013.

    Things to note
    Steps to create Workflow
    How to
extract values from a multi-value enabled lookup column and
add items to another list based on each separate value using SharePoint Designer 2013.
For example, they have three lists as below. They want to
extract values from the Destinations column
in Lookup2 and add items to Lookup3 based on each country and set Title to current item: ID.
    Lookup1:
    Title (Single line of text)
    Lookup2:
Title (Single line of text), Destinations (Lookup; Get information from: Lookup1 in Title column).\
    Lookup3:
Title (Single line of text), Country (Single line of text).
    Important action
    1. Loop Shape: SharePoint Designer 2013 support two types of loops: loop n times and loop with condition.
Loops must also conform to the following rules:
Loops must be within a stage, and stages cannot be within a loop.
Steps may be within a loop.
Loops may have only one entry and one exit point.
    2. Utility Actions: It contains many actions, such as ‘Extract Substring from Index of String’ and ‘Find substring in String’.
    Three scenarios
We need to loop through the string returned from the look up column and look for commas. There are three
    scenarios:
    1.  No comma but string is non-empty so there is only one country.
    2.  At least one comma so there is at least two or more countries to loop.
    3.  In the loop we have consumed all the commas so we have found the last country.
    Things to note
There are two things to note:
    1. "Find string in string (output to Variable:index)"  will return -1 if doesn't find
    the searched for string.
    2. In the opening statement "Set Variable: Countries to Current Item:Destinations" set the return
field as  "Lookup Values, Comma Delimited".
    Steps to create Workflow
Create a custom list named Lookup1.
Create a custom list named Lookup2, add column: Destinations (Lookup; Get information from: Lookup1 in Title column).
Create a custom list named Lookup3, add column: Country (Single line of text).
Create a workflow associated to Lookup2.
    Add conditions and actions:
Start the workflow automatically when an item is created.
Add item to Lookup2, then workflow will be started automatically and create multiple items to lookup3.
See the below in workflow History List:
How to merge values to a multi-value enabled column and add item to another list based on the
merged value using SharePoint Designer 2013
For example, they have three lists as below. They want to find duplicate values in the Title column in
Lookup3 and merge country column to a multi-value enabled column and then add item to lookup2 and set the Title to Current Item: Title.
    Lookup1:
    Title (Single line of text)
    Lookup3:
Title (Single line of text), Country (Single line of text).
    Lookup2:
Title (Single line of text), Test (Single line of text).
    Important actions
    "Call HTTP Web Service"
action: In SharePoint 2013 workflows, we can call a web service using a new action introduced in SharePoint 2013 named Call HTTP Web Service. This action
is flexible and allows you to make simple calls to a web service easily, or, if needed, you can create more complex calls using HTTP verbs as well as allowing you to add HTTP headers.
    “Build Dictionary"
    action:
The Dictionary variable type is a new variable type in the SharePoint 2013 Workflow.
The following are the three actions specifically designed for the Dictionary variable type: Build Dictionary, Count Items in a Dictionary and Get an Item from a Dictionary.
The "Call HTTP Web Service" workflow action would be useless without the new "Dictionary" workflow action.
    Things to note
    The
HTTP URI is set to https://sitename/_api/web/lists/GetByTitle('listname')/items?$orderby=Id%20desc and the HTTP method is set to “GET”. Then the list will be sort by Id in descending order.
    Use Get
    d/results(0)/Id form
    Variable: ResponseContent (Output to
Variable: maxid) to get the Max ID.
    Use Set
Variable: minid to Current List:ID to get the Min ID.
    Use Copy from
    Variable: destianation , starting at
    1 (Output to
Variable: destianation) to remove the space.
    Steps to create Workflow
Create a custom list named Lookup1.
Create a custom list named Lookup2, add column: Test (Single line of text).
Create a custom list named Lookup3, add column: Country (Single line of text).
Create a workflow associated to Lookup3.
Add a new "Build Dictionary" action
to define the http request header:
Add a Call HTTP Web Serviceaction, click on
this and paste your http request.
    To associate the
RequestHeader variable, select the Call action property,
    set the
    RequestHeaders property to
    RequestHeader:
In the Call action, click on
response and associate the response to a new
    variable: ResponseContent (of type Dictionary).
After the Call action add Get item from Dictionary action to get the Max ID.
Add Set Workflow Variable action to get the Min ID.
Add Loop Shape (Loop with Condition) to get all the duplicate titles and integrate them to a string.
    Create item in Lookup2.
The final Stage should look like this:
Start the workflow automatically when an item is created.
Add item to Lookup3, then workflow will be started automatically and create item to lookup2.

GREAT info, but it may be helpful to note that when replacing a portion of the variable "Countries" with a whitespace character, you may cause the workflow to fail in a few specific cases (certain lookup fields will not accept this and will automatically
cancel).  I only found this out when recreating your workflow on a similar, but much more complex list set.
To resolve this issue, I used another utility action (Extract Substring from Index of List) to clear out the whitespace.  I configured it as "Copy from
    Variable: Countries, starting at
1 (Output to Variable: Countries), which takes care of this issue in those few cases.
Otherwise, WOW!  AWESOME JOB!  Thanks!  :)

  • Error importing text file into SQL Server when last column is null

    Hello all. Happy holidays!
I'm trying to import a text file into a SQL Server table, and I get the error below when it gets to a row (row 264) that has null in the last column. I'm guessing the null jumbles up the delimiters somehow. The nulls are not errors, and I need to import
them into the table with the rest of the rows. Any idea how I can do that?

    WeeLass

    Hi WeeLass,
The error that” Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "XYZ" returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".” is generally error message, and the error indicates
that there is data type mismatch issue between the input columns and the output columns.
Based on your description, the issue is that you trying to convert a column contains empty value from string to integer data type for the output column "XYZ" in Flat File Source [1]. Please note that we cannot type an empty value as integer data
type column value, so the error occurs.
To fix this issue, just as you did, we should convert the data type for the output column "XYZ" in Flat File Source [1] back to DT_WSTR or DT_STR, then use a derived column task to replace the current column (UBPKE542). But the expression should
    be like below:
    LEN(TRIM(UBPKE542)) > 0 ? (DT_I8)UBPKE542 : NULL(DT_I8)
In this way, the data type of the column in SQL table would be int, and the empty value would be replaced with NULL.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Hello everybody and thank you in advance,
    1) if I add a new variable to my sql query to select a column which was already in the table, it shows it in the report table as the Last column to the right. That is, if I add "street" to
something like city, postcode, street, store, manager, etc, instead of placing street between postcode and store, it places it as i said as the last column to the right.
    2) When values are entered into the cells of the tables, yes, they do expand it to their needed lenght, But, only if it is one word. If it is two, like when i enter the value "very good"
then it takes two lines so as with a carriage return within the cell, thus, making it too high the row. I tried to padd spaces with rpad but it did not work. something like rpad(stock, 20,' ')
I must say that the table is in the same page where there is a Form, so as the table grows in lenth it is actually squeezing the form located right on its left.
    3) rpad did not work with the most simple syntax, but less would with what i need because it turns out i am using DECODE in order to do a conversion between value displayed and
value returned in my select list of values, something like : DECODE (TO_CHAR (stock),'1','Deficient','2','Average','3','Good','4','Very Good',null) AS stock,
so, i have tried to put the rpad there in several places but either it gave parsing error or it left the column empty not picking any values.
    thank you very much

    1) That is standard behaviour of apex builder. You can change the display order with the arrows in the report attributes column report.
    2) You will have to play with the style attributes of the column to accomplice this. For instance style="white-space:pre;" in the Element Attributes of the column attributes. White-space:normal would thread several space (' ') as 1. So no matter how many you add with rpad they will be shown as 1.
Or set a width either as attibute or in a style class for that column.
