Current Date Object

Hi,
i´d been searching for this for a long time but still don´t get it! how do i create a new object @universe level wich only delivers the current date or sysdate? i´d read a lot about SYSDATE but no change...
does the universe support objects that do not reference to a current object member but rather calculates the current date via MDX?
by the way a need to create such an object @universe, not within the bw query.

Hi,
Create an object date1 of type date.
In select clause,
dim_date.calendar_date
in where clause,
to_char(dim_date.calendar_date,'dd-mon-yyyy') = (select to_char(sysdate-1,'dd-mon-yyyy') from dual).
Hope this will solve your problem.
Acc to my knowledge, We can't use directly currentdate() function in universe.

    I know this is beating a dead horse to death but I have wasted a whole day trying to get this to work. Here is the problem.
    I need to convert a Date().toString (format returned: Dec 19, 2006 3:39:58 PM EST) back to a Date object. What I am doing is writting this string a text file and then revisiting it to compare later to a current Date object to find the difference in the two stamps in milliseconds.
    J2SE 1.4.2 being used
    Date date = new Date();
    String newDateStr = log[1].trim(); // entry from log file
    SimpleDateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");
    Date logDate = dateFormat.parse(newDateStr);

    }So should I look at a different approach at either:

    Most probably that is because at the present time I am in a situation where most of my time is spent waiting for a call from the customer, and the app I am supporting works so well that those calls are few and far between. Lucky for me, they pay me for sitting around and answering questions on a forum.
    At least it is a java forum, where I can justly claim that I am improving my knowledge of java.

  • Current Date

    I just added from the Custom Tab from the Library Pallet the Current Date object to my form.
    On the Object Pallet, the Field tab is set as follows
    Appearance : None
    Display Pattern: YYYY-MM-DD
    Edit Pattern: MM-DD-YYYY
    Locale: Viewer's system locale
    On the Value Tab
    Type: Read Only
    On the Binding Tab
    Name: Current Date
    Default: None
    Data Pattern: YYYY-MM-DD
    Data Format: Date
    When I click on PDF Preview it just hangs.
    So I went into the script editor and changed
    $.rawValue = num2date(date(), DateFmt(1))
    to
    $.rawValue = num2date(date(), DateFmt(2))
    The Preview still hangs.
    But when I open it up in Acrobat Reader the four digit year is visible.
    Do I have something setup wrong or is there a problem.
    I also tried bringing the Current Date object into a blank print only form and had the same problem with the PDF Preview, did not save the test so I did not open it in the Reader only. ( I am working on a 2 desktop system. Professional in on the first desktop and the reader is on the second.)

    It seem to be working today. Sorry about any that.

  • Problem with current date field...

    I want to display the current date and time, but when I change the data format in the binding tab to "Date and Time" and assign a pattern that includes date and time, all I get is the current date, NOT the time. TIA!

    I have tried applying these scripts in the initialize event to all manner of objects, text field objects, date/time objects, numeric objects, current date objects, and it shows nothing. If I could just edit the date/time format of the current date object when it is set to "Runtime Property-Current Date/Time" I MIGHT be able to use it. I really appreciate your help thus far. Would it be possible for you to share a pdf file that you've made where this works so I might disect it? No matter what pattern I specify in the "Field" palette, it shows it's own formatting.
    UPDATE: I did go back after trying it a few times to change the value after Page1 to match the name of my field.

  • New to LiveCycle and question on Current Date box.

    Hi all,
    I'm very new to designer and I'm trying to put in a Current Date box. The issue I have is that it displays as 2/26/09 and I need it to display as February 26, 2009.
    I've gone into the patterns and enter that, but it doesn't change anything.
    When I drag the Current Date box into the form, I get a message that says "This object has settings that this form does not support. These settings are removed when the object is placed on the form."
    What is this? I made this form off of an existing PDF file that has nothing in it.

    Ah, ok I see what's going on - I didn't realize there was a prebuilt current date object.
    The reason it doesn't change the format from the Patterns is because it is using a script like the one I gave you.
    You need to open the Script Editor window (Window->Script Editor -- I think its default location is just under the toolbars above the page you're working on) then when you click on the object the Script Editor will list scripts attached to the object.
    You need to change the script where it says DateFmt(1) to DateFmt(3).

  • Historic and Current data for Master data bearing objects

    We are trying to implement type 2 dimensions for all the master data bearing characteristics, where we require historic and current data available for reporting. the master data can have a number of attributes and all of them can be time dependent. We are not getting any 'datefrom' or 'dateto' from the source system.
    For example:
    For Example: The table below shows data entering BI at different dates.
    Source Data day of entering BI
    MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2
    123506 Y REWAR day1
    123506 N REWAR day4
    123506 Y ADJUST day4
    123506 N ADJUST dayn
    The field 'day of entry into BI' is only for your understanding; we do not get any date fields from the source. SID is the field we are generating for uniqueness. It is a counter. EFF_DATE would be the current date for all the data. EXP_DATE would be 31.12.9999 until the attributes change. SID and MasterID together would be the key.
    On day 1 the following data enters BI,
    day 1
    SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    1 123506 Y REWAR 2/10/2009 12/31/9999
    On day 4, 2 data records enter with same PID,
    SID MasterID ATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE
    2 123506 N REWAR 2/13/2009 12/31/9999
    3 123506 Y ADJUST 2/13/2009 12/31/9999
    the EXP_DATE of the record of day 1 needs to be changed to current date.
    Also there are two records entering, so latest record would have EXP_DATE as 31.12.9999. And the EXP_DATE of the first record on day 4 should change to the current date.
    so the following changes should happen,

    SID MasterIDATTR1 ATTR2 EFF_DATE EXP_DATE

    Compound the Master ID with eff date and other attribute as superior objects
    so you will get P-table as

    Hi,
    I have a problem with one of my data objects in that when I try an edit it I get ‘This Data Object is currently in use and cannot be edited at this time’. I have tried everything from rebooting the machine. Any ideas?

  • I made a new Date object

    See, here's the thing with dates in java, the way i see it. We used to have Date, but Date wasn't international so we got Calendar. But some things, like SimpleDateFormat, still expect java.util.Date. java.sql.Date is out there somewhere, too. None of them have direct support for date differences (i.e. dateA - dateB = 8 days, or whatever). Now you're probably reading this thinking "Java supports all of this" and you're right. Calendar has a getTime method that returns a Date, and i can just pass THAT to SimpleDateFormat. With a little math, getTimeInMillis can be used to find the difference in two Calendars. But i got to thinking, "There should only be one Date object i need to think about," and since i don't ever have enough to do at work i put one together. I don't know if any of you are going to care enough to use it, mostly i'm just looking for advice on features i should add to it, inefficiencies in the design, stuff that's hard to understand, or whatever.

    The reason Callendar is so complicated is that it is trying to solve a very complicated problem.
    You don't appear to support leap seconds (of which there can be upto 2 in any time interval)

    Some of your code will not work for large dates very well (seems to iterate over the years). Try using your date class for astronomical or geological calculations. them big numbers will make your code slow at the moment.
    You don't seem to support timezones or transitory offsets (BST vs GMT). You most definately don't handle changes to timezone offsets that have occured in the past or historical daylight savings time offsets (they have not always been the same)
    The difference between two calendars is a "duration" a duration means nothing unless it is applied to a caledar/date (although you may be able to get away with it if the duration is always stored in millis)

  • Last 6 months of data from current date

    Hi Experts,
    I have a requirement in WebI to display last 6 months of data based on current date.Actually I have a column called "Employee Contract Start date" in my report.Suppose the end user executes the report today,then he should be able to see the Employee's data whose contract started today and in the last 6months from current date.
    Also I have dimension object name "Employee Contract Start Date".
    Please be noted that I am getting the data from Bex Query and I am working on BO 4.1 version.
    I have Objects "Calender day" , "Cal.year/Month" , "Calender month" , "Employee Contract Start Date" in the BEx Query.
    Could anyone please propose me, what are the ways to meet this requirement?

    The getTime() method will return the number of milliseconds since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 GMT. You can then write a number of functions to calculate the date from this.
    The toString() function returns a string with the current value of the object - i.e 2002-10-17 (it's unusual formatting (YYYY-MM-DD) is useful when validating an input in real time, though beyond this, I've no idea why they put it this way around). You can then use string function substirng() to break this down into parts.
    i.e. if your Date object was called today:
    String DD = today.toString().substring()(8)
    String MM = today.toString().substring()(5,2)
    String YYYY = today.toString().substring()(0,4)
    There are other methods (see API) - but these have been deprecated - that means, although they can be used, they are not recomended.
    There is also a Calendar object, though this seems to have the same problems.

    In my VC application i have two date fields. we are allowing the end user to select the From Data and Todate though Data pickers, But the client asking to make the today's date as default date in Todate field , rather picking up from the data picker,
    Unless the  user wants change the todate from the current date. It should display today's date as default date.
    can any body tell me how to do it.

    I have an issue an implementing the "Exporting the Table data to Excel."
    My VC version is 7.0
    Portal version NW 2004s.
    By refering the following link, i have implemented Export To Excell functionality in VC.

    We would like to understand the size of the master data tables overall for a specific source system (Logical name is Ex.ABCD, which supplies all master data to BW). Can you please advise the procedure to find out this?
    Is there any table that will allows to see all the master data objects related to specific sources system so that we can find out that table size? Thanks.

    Hi,
    You can find out all the master data tales used in the BW system by
    Tcode : SE11
    Enter as /BIC/P* for master data tables and press F4 which gives list of master data tables currently used in BW system.
    Similarly for Texts  /BIC/T*  and press F4
    Similarly for Hierarchies /BIC/H-* press F4
    and can know the size of the all tables.

    Dates don't have any concept of time zones. Think of a Date as a wrapper for a long.
    Use SimpleDateFormat. Read the javadocs for some useful methods.
