Current packages
I want to install 'current' packages instead of standart 0.6. I boot from base cd and mount disc with current packages to /src/arch/pkg. But then i try to install packages i see the error:
could not open sync database: current
have you used --refresh yet?
package installation failed
Whats wrong?
PS: sorry fo my bad english.
wdemoss wrote:To install current packages, follow the ftp instructions. It uses the current builds, not the ones released on the cd.
Oops, not very clear what I meant here, huh?
I meant, to follow the FTP INSTALL instructions for a new arch installation. This will install packages out of the current repository, instead of the release repository (which is what is on the cd).
sorry for the bad reply,

What is "the current package"?
In the java tute it says:
"For your convenience, the Java runtime system automatically imports two entire packages:
The java.langpackage
The current package by default "
What does it mean by the current package? All of the classes in the package that your own class resides in are automatically available to your code. So, if your class sit in
package com.mycompany.mypackageThen every class that also sits in there will automatically be visible. -
JLDAP source from OpenLdap does not match current package
The wiki page for the JLDAP downloads ('LDAP Classes for Java -
Developer Community' (http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/Jldap))
indicates "Source code matching this release is available through the
OpenLDAP Open Source initiative." Unfortunately, the current packages
(which have needed bug fixes) were modified in 2009, but the most
current source on the OpenLDAP site is from 2008. Consequently, we don't
have source that we can use to debug during development, which is
hindering our ability to effectively develop new functionality against
eDirectory. Is there a plan to get the most up-to-date source available?

Hi,
The source can not be different, because there is only on source
repository and that is OpenLDAP. Even the Novell's libraries are built
from the OpenLDAP Source only. The source changes and bug fixes from all
the JLDAP maintainers (both from and outside Novell) wil be checked in
to OpenLDAP's JLDAP repository only.

[SOLVED] Script to clear all but the current packages from cache?
Has anyone written, found such a script, or like to write one?
It just has to delete all older duplicate packages in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ . After which keeping a superseded copy of packages just comes down to when you use the script.
It would keep the /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ directory slimmer, (though it would still have more than is required in it I know) & ensure a quick recovery through downgrading to a known good package when required.
It would be so easy to run the script before an -Syu --aur so that if you have any problems you still have the superseded version of whatever, that you can downgrade to until the problem is solved

SYNC OPTIONS
-c, --clean
Remove packages that are no longer installed from the cache as well
as currently unused sync databases to free up disk space. When
pacman downloads packages, it saves them in a cache directory. In
addition, databases are saved for every sync DB you download from,
and are not deleted even if they are removed from the configuration
file pacman.conf(5). Use one --clean switch to only remove packages
that are no longer installed; use two to remove all packages from
the cache. In both cases, you will have a yes or no option to
remove packages and/or unused downloaded databases.
If you use a network shared cache, see the CleanMethod option in
pacman.conf(5).
Does "pacman -Sc" not do what you are suggesting? -
How to check current package/software versions?
How do I check the current versions of packages or software? For example which version of apache or svn I have installed.
Thanks.
-zMost software that's installed via Apple's installer stores a receipt in /Library/Receipts
You can look at the /Contents/version.plist file within the .pkg to see the version number associated with the package.
This doesn't always cut it, though - for example Apache (as well as several other server components) may get updated as part of a security update so you won't see an 'apache.pkg' in /Library/Receipts
In this case, though, it's probably easier to ask Apache directly...
$ httpd -v
Server version: Apache/2.2.13 (Unix)
Server built: Oct 16 2009 02:12:22
Most services support some kind of command-line switch (typically -v or -V) that gives you version information. -

How to determine the owner of the current package ?
From a package (that is defined with invoker's rights: AUTHID CURRENT_USER) I want to determine the owner of that package. (We plan to deploy the same code into multiple schemas.)
One approach would be to parse the results of DBMS_UTILITY.format_call_stack . . . any other ideas?
Thanks,

We are using Total Recall aka Flashback Data Archive.
If you have a Flashback Data Archive on a table, you can not drop it without removing the archive, and to do that you need ADMINISTER FLASHBACK ARCHIVE privilege. We want to give users the ability to remove the flashback archive (this is an ALTER TABLE) from their own tables without granting that privilege.
So, we have a utilty schema which has this privilege. We created a definer-rights package to issue the alter, but it does not have ALTER ANY TABLE privilege. So, we added an invoker-rights package that the table-owner can call. This first issues GRANT ALTER ON [input-table-name] TO itself, then calls the definer-rights package, which now has both the system privilege and the object privilege needed. Why not just create a procedure owned by an "admin" user that does the alter table and grant execute on the proc to the utility schema ?
As an example with scott and sys (using sys in a real-world system would be a Bad Idea© but I'm on a playground database on my laptop) :

Can't adjust my current package online
Afternoon all,
For some bizzare reason, everytime I go to either change my broadband package, or want to make a change to my channels etc. The system keeps forwarding me to a form to setup a new order as a new customer... Rather than, select this if you want faster broadband, or check this for HD channels etc. PLus I'm kinda desperate to get the HH5 as I could do with getting rid of the extra box....
Thank you for looking, and hopefully helping.
DanOrdering services online from BT can be a funny business, best avoided in my view. I'd ring the Options Team on 0800 800 030 to discuss your requirements. If your minimum period contract has expired you might be able to negotiate a better deal than you would get online even if it worked.

Hi,
Is it possible to a procedure to know the name of the package where the procedure is ?
Thank you.
PatrickI gave tom's solution a try and it had an error running in my db. I had to change the following line
lineno := TO_NUMBER(SUBSTR(line, 13, 6));
to:
lineno := TO_NUMBER(SUBSTR(line, 13, 8));
Any idea why? maybe because I am running 9.2.0.6.0 db?
Not test this much, but since I changed the third param, mambe the second needs to change too..
Thanks for the tips though.

SPAM/SAINT - OCS package does not match current software component vector
Hello Experts,
This could happen on any type of system I suspect, but it is on my Solution Manager (7.01 on Eh1). I downloaded a support stack (27)and was checking the components requirements. I use the Directory box in SPAM, and I go into New Support Packages. I highlight the support package for ST 400 then click on the Queue button. It comes back with this message: OCS package SAPKITL437 does not match the current software component vector.
I click continue and the requirements window comes up. It shows that I have currently loaded the wrong BI_Content. It says: Non-permitted release of add-on BI_CONT installed. The release information is BI_CONT,706.
If I go back to the main window to look at the current package level, I see that BI_CONT component release (loaded) is 704 - sp 8.
I must have gotten very creative when loading that back in 2008. MOPZ was used, but it was before the support stack restrictions were in place on my system.
I can't get around this issue, because even trying to load the Basis support package I get this message.
If anyone has had the problem and knows what to do I would appreciate some help. Notes searching has not found anything. So far my Customer message has not been helpfull, but it is not SAP support .
PatHi Patricia,
Please, check prerequisites for SAPKITL437 in SPAM.
It seems like you need to install/update some components in SAINT before.
From official note: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1274287
"Requirements with component ST400 for SP27

Identify the last data package in start routine
Hi Everyone
We have a start routine in transformations. We require to do some special processing in the start routine only when the last data package is executing. How can we determine in the start routine that current package is last one or not ? Any pointers in this direction are appreciated.Hi,
You can get packet Id from datapackid in start routine and end routine. But I'm not so sure how to identify the last packet ID, alternatively you can store this packet id in some where else and read the same value in End routine if your logic(processing) permits to do this in End routine instead of Start routine.
METHODS

datapackid type rsdatapid
EXPORTING

hope it helps...

Can I make a liveusb system from my current install.
I have archlinux installed on my laptop. I also have an external hard drive that is larger than my laptops internal drive.
I would like to copy my laptop's arch linux installation onto this external hard drive, and be able to carry it around and boot other computers off of it.
How I think one would do this is to wipe the external drive, and create two partitions (one for / one for /home) with the / partition the exact same size as the current / partition. Then I'm thinking I'd use dd to copy /dev/sda1 (my current /) to the target / partition, and dd or maybe cp to copy the current /home to the new /home partition. Alternatively, I'm thinking use dd to copy the entirety of /dev/sda to the external drive, hopefully bringing along all the bootloaders and whatnot.
The problem I'm foreseeing here is that the device of the usb drive might change from machine to machine, so the bootloader won't know where to go looking for it, and it will fail to boot. I'm not really knowledgeable about the details of the booting process. I mean, I know that initramfs-linux.img loads very early, and sort of sets up the system before handing things off to init, or I guess systemd now. But will the initramfs that I have on my current drive be able to handle being toted around from computer to computer, or will it get confused and fail? If it gets confused, what exactly will the problems be, and how can I fix them?
Can anyone point me in the right direction, and/or point out where I'm making a mistake here?Oh wow, I was googling ever more complex things to try to figure this out, and then I did a simple search on the wiki and found this:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … _a_USB_key
I'm sure that I can figure it out from there, I'll just do some swapping around of steps and make sure that I end up with all my current packages. The part that was worrying me is multiple machines, and that page goes over it pretty well.
