  • We had a Ipad 1st generation IOS5.  Added second email address for Messaging.  Tested and message came from 1st email address.  How do you get the second address to be the sender?

Have a 1st generation Ipad IOS5 and added a second email address for messaging.  Tested sending a message to my Iphone and it was received as being sent by the first email address.  How do you select the second email address as the sender of a message?

    Hello slapshot13scotty,
The information below details where to adjust both where messages are sent from and received.
Receive iMessages using another email address:
Go to Settings > Messages > Receive At > Add Another Email.
Specify the phone number or Apple ID email address that appears in the “from” field when you start a new conversation:
Go to Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID.
Existing conversations aren’t affected when you change this setting.

  • Update failed when adding email

Hi please can someone help me. I have a curve 9320 and had my work emails and hot mail on my phone. My work emails stopped coming through and after attempting to fix the issue, I deleted my work emails from my phone. When I try to add the work email again it keeps saying update failed. The IT dept said I need to change the mail server settings. Does anyone know how to do this or even if this is what the issue is? Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Is your work email account a BES/Enterprise account? Were you able to, with that, synchronize wirelessly calendar, contacts, tasks, and memos? If so, then your IT folks must resolve this BES activation issue.
If you only had email, then it likely was not BES, and instead acted just like any other "personal/internet" email account. But, I cannot quite tell what you are doing and what your IT department is recommending.
If you are using the on-device email wizard and providing only the email address and password yet it is still failing, then that could be what they are referring to. If the server does not respond with the proper server settings (e.g., port, server address, etc.), then the wizard will indeed fail.
To bypass the wizard and force the ability for you to provide those additional details, you need to provide a correct email address, but an intentionally incorrect password. When the screen repaints, the same fields will be visible, but an additional "tic box" for "I will provide these settings myself" (or something similar) will be added...tic that box and proceed, and you will be presented with a screen on which you can manually enter all of the necessary details.
    Good luck!

  • 'sign in' button grayed out when adding account-email address has five letters after the '.'

so i have this email account that uses a peculiar sever name with five letters after the '.' ie: [email protected] the thing is i can set up the server and user name and pass for the account so that it connects and syncs fine. the only problem is that i have to leave out one of the letters at the end of the address when setting it up or webOs will not let me sign in (the button is grayed out).
so to get around it, i just left off one of the letters at the end ([email protected]). this let me set up the account BUT i can't send emails because the server requires that all messages come from the internal accounts with all five leters in the suffix ([email protected]) and since my address is missing a letter it won't accept and out going emails.
Is there any way i can get around this? either by disabling the prevention of entering in 5 letters after the '.' or by going somewhere to add the letter back in after the fact. Please help!!! Thanks
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

The problem is where you enter your address and password for ESMTP (outgoing authentication)? Many mail clients let you check a box to use the same username and password that you use to retrieve email. I gather that isn't an option in webOS?

  • How to change security questions after adding a second email address?

I'm at a loss and really really frustrated with Apple for the first time in my life.
I've added a second email address and tried over the last 3 days on my iPad and Mac to change my security questions. There is no option present that I can see that allows you to do this without first entering the answers. (to which I don't know anymore)
I called Apple support (even in english) and every time the call has been dropped.
In all the years since switching to Apple I've always been impressed with the level of customer service. This is the first time that I've felt this level of sincere frustration.
I'm not sure why I have to book a time to speak with someone. Updating or changing security questions, should be a process one can do over the internet. I'm confused either way why questions are necessary if the apple password entered was correct. It's not my bank account; why the need for such extreme security just to download an app paid for by an iTunes card!
Any help or direction would be appreciated!!
    Thank you
    Kate

    Hello there, Kate.
Apologies for your frustration. For your security the existing questions need to be answered before new ones can be created. The following Knowledge Base article provides some additional steps to try if you are unsure of the answers to the existing ones:
Apple ID: All about Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5665
    Specifically:
What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address
sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID passwordsign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password
contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
Note: If you have forgotten your password and answer your security questions incorrectly too many times in a row, you will be unable to try to answer your security questions for a period of time. During that time you will not be able to reset your password and will not have access to your account.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • When I try to update my apps, an old email address appears and I dont know how to get rid of it?  Not to tech savvy!  : (

When I try to update my apps, and old email address appears, how I get rid of it?  I am not tech savvy at all!

This is happening because they were purchased with your older Apple ID.  Apps and there updates are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, regardless of the ID on your phone in Settings>Store.  The only way to stop the prompt for your older ID would be to delete these apps from your phone.

  • Adding a second email address

I have two email addresses at my ISP Comcast. The first is: [email protected] and has been set up at Thunderbird-it is working fine. Now I want to add my second Comcast email address ([email protected]) to Thunderbird without it interfering with the first address.
Can I add this second email address and if so-HOW?

On the menu, '''File|New|Existing Mail Account…'''
No menu? Press the <alt> key to make it appear temporarily.
Or, via the Application Menu button (the one with three lines that we're not supposed to need to explain because it's so very self-explanatory - I'm not a fan of it!)
    click '''[≡]'''
    hover over '''New Message'''
    click on '''Existing Mail Account'''
    (see image below)
Or select an existing account in the left hand pane. Right-click it, select '''Settings'''. A settings window appears. At the bottom of the narrow pane at the left look for '''Account Actions''', click this and select '''Add Mail Account'''.
In all cases, fill in the email address you want to add, and its password, and your name, and click '''Continue'''.
DO NOT click '''Get New Account'''.

  • Need second email address for a contact

I need the ability to add a second email address for a contact. I have tried using ";" and "," characters in the email address line, but get an invalid data format error when saving. Short of adding a custom field, is there any way to do this?
    Neil

Neil, I believe your only option is adding a custom field.

  • HT4479 I have an Apple ID that's not an email, and I have been told it needs to be an email address.  I change it to my email address and it says my email is already in use.   I only have one email address.  I don't want to create a second email address.

I have an email account and they want me to use my (same) email account name as my Apple ID.  When I do it says my email is already in use.  Is Apply suggesting I need to create a second email address?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Is the email address being used in the account of another Apple ID that you have?

  • IOS5 iMessages won't allow me to register a second email address

I just installed pIOS 5 and have been trying to register a second email address in iMessages. When I do it returns an error saying the email address is already in use. Has anyone else had and solved the same problem?

Didn't the link to contact the iTunes Store staff in the 'Additional Information' section of that article work for you? If you don't already have a valid rescue email address, only Apple itself can reset the questions.

  • My apple password works on my computer, but not my  new phone. Added new email address to my ID- any suggestions?

I have a new I Phone 5 and have added a second email address. My password for my apple account will not work on my phone to download apps, yet it works on my computer. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the person didn't wipe the device first before giving to you.   They need to do that with THEIR ID, before you can use yours.

  • How Do I Verify a Second Email Address for Form Central

I set my Adobe Account up with a primary email, but I want my form responses to come to a different email. How can I verify a second email address.
Here is what Adobe says...I'm not sure I fully understand this process.
    https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4371
    Thanks Team!
    Guy

In order for an email address to receive responses, there must be a FormsCentral account that uses that email address.  An address is verified by logging into the email address in question after configuring the new FormsCentral account.  An email is sent to the account and you verify the account by clicking on a link in the email.  Once this is done the account is verified.  The steps are:
Create a new FormsCentral account using the second email address (can be a Free account)
Log into the second email account and click on the link within the email that FormsCentral sends for verifying new accounts
When creating forms in your primary account, you can now add the second address as a recipient for email notifications.

  • Add second email address to Message Center

I have a second email address on my verizon email account. I don't know how to add that to the message center when I log in. Can someone advise me please? Thank you.

When you log in to check your Verizon email on the new webmail there is no way to view multiple accounts at once. Your best bet is to use Outlook or another email client and configure that to access multiple accounts.

Open Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Click the plus sign and enter the information
