Custom fcp x project settings

Is there a way to have Project settings conform to your clip (i.e. H.264 800kbps) and when you export to keep these settings? I have a feeling that the timeline is in ProRes and when I export using specific Compressor settings it takes a really long time (for a 10min clip). Ideally we'd just export without recompressing.

Tom,
Can you think of any efficient ways to export a lot of clips from Projects? I've taken a few DVD, chopped them up into 10min segments and need to export them all at H.264 @ 800kbps. Any fast way of doing this or only a manual way?
Thanks!

  • How can I export or save custom tuning scales (project settings)

Dealing with arab scales (maqamat) in Logic I started using the tuning scales in project prefs. I found some ("lucy-...") tuning scale presets on the internet an sucessfully imported them to my presets list.
Now I would really appreciate being able to create my own tuning scale presets  - or, if available, load some of the quartetone-affected maquamats (arabic scales) to my list.
    Anyone got a hint?
    p.

The "import settings" dialog allows you to copy tuning from a saved song into your current song. Create a template with that tuning and you can draw from it as needed.

  • A question about project settings..FCP 7

I am using FCP 7 and I'm a little overwhelmed with the myriad of project settings options.
I use a Canon T3i and film in full HD (1920x1080 i think).  All my footage I transcode in compressor to Apple ProRes 422 before importing to FCP projects.
I installed another computer and reinstalled FCP 7 and lost my old templates and importing some footage, I get the red line indicating unrendered footage.
Is there a standard setting that Compressor and FCP use to make it easy to just transcode, import, and edit?  I'd like all my projects to look the best possible in full HD and there's hundreds of preset project settings and I'm a little unfamiliar with all the options.
Anyone have any quick tips, pointers, or thoughts?

If you drop a clip into the timeline, it means the sequence settings don't match the clip settings.  Make a new sequence, add the clip. FCP should ask "do you want the sequence to match the clip settings?" Click YES. If you don't see that, you might need to trash your preferences...or it might be an older version that doesn't support ProRes formats (FCP 5.1 and earlier).
Another way is to choose an EASY SETUP that matches your clip settings, and then make a new sequence.
And your camera shoots 1920x1080p...not i.

  • Can you copy custom To Do List settings from one project to another?

Using RH9. We created a number of To Do List entries for one of our Robohelp projects that we now want to use in all of our RH projects (File > Project Settings > Manage To Do List for Robohelp Project). Is it possible to copy these entries from one project to another? Or do we need to re-create the list of To Do tasks for each one of our 20+ projects?

    Hi there
The "To Do" list items appear to be stored directly in the ProjectName.XPJ file. So theoretically it would be possible to copy them by opening one XPJ using Windows Notepad, copying them, then opening the target XPJ and pasting. However, this will likely cause a disparity between the XPJ and the .CPD. So before actually opening the project where you are copying them into, you would want to close the project and delete the CPD. Then modify the XPJ and re-open the project. A fresh CPD should then be baked up and things should be in sync.
You might also want to submit a Wish Form to ask for an easier way to transfer custom lists. (link is always in my sig)
    Cheers... Rick

  • Can I combine codec m2v1 with apple ProRes 422 (HQ) in same FCP X project?

Can I combine codec m2v1 with apple ProRes 422 (HQ) in same FCP X project?
Everything else is same.  29.97, fps, 1920 x1080, Linear PCM, 48kHz, mono, .mov
If not, could I add the logo animation after outputting to compressor using QuickTime 7?
I'm re-wrapping footage from Canon XF100, which is why m2v1.  I like working this way to preserve original footage.
I just had my logo animated and designer matched everything except the m2v1.  Providing ProRes 422 (HQ)
Thank you for your thoughts.  I'd like to avoid changing my camera footage to Apple ProRes 422 (HQ).

    Hi Mary,
    I'm new to FCPX too!
When creating a new project, if you click on Use Custom Settingsand then ckick on the Custom checkbox in Video Properties, you can specifyexactly what you want!
If you need to change it after the project was craeted, I found that you can click and highlight on the project in the Project Library window, then go over to the "info" button . The Properties window will expand from the right side (above the "info" button . With Properties selected it will show you the present settings, if you need to change those settings, click on the icon of the WRENCH on the bottom of that dialog box (Properties). You can then change your settings.
    Good luck, and happy cutting!

  • 2 project settings questions

    Hello again
Still experimenting with PrE8 trial version. This is my first experience with a video editor so learning all from scratch. I have a couple of questions regarding the project setting you need to chose when you create a new project. I understand these settings define the "working" enviroment for the editing process - in other words the resolution and all the other characteristics (format, frame rate, etc) that the project will use
    1) I have a camera that´s 1920x1080 30p (progressive) , the GoPro HD. When I look in the new project presets, all 1920 x 1080 presets available seem to be specifically designed for interlaced video. This is indicated by the names of the presets, and by their descriptions as well.  There is only 1 progressive preset, of a lower resolution (720p)
Nevertheless, I tried using the HD 1080i preset, loaded some 1920x1080 progressive mp4 files, and apparently it works perfectly well. In fact when I go to edit>project settings>general window,  the project attributes indicate progressive video !!!
Is there really any difference (or specific requirement)  in a project preset for interlaced vs progressive video? ( I am beginning to suspect that there is really no difference,  and that the coding ( i vs p) does not really form part of the project settings, and that the project will take both forms of input media)
    any thoughts on this?
    2) The GoPro has a non-standard resolution mode, HD with 4:3 aspect ratio : 1280x960 30p
There is no project setting preset that will match this, how can I create one myself ?
The PrE help says this is possible, but I can't find how. ( Edit>project settings will not let me change the resolution)
    from the help
If your source footage requires a custom project preset, you can create one. The procedure for creating a preset differs if you’re changing settings for an open project versus establishing settings for a new project. Presets you create can be applied to new projects, and if you want to back up or distribute  preset files, you can find them in the Settings subfolder of the  Adobe Premiere Elements folder on your hard disk.

Again thanks so much for your time and your help ,  much appreciated.

Unfortunately you will not be able to use the video from those "sports" camcorders directly in Premiere Elements. It's just not compatible with the program.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
As you can see from this FAQ, there are three options for converting the video:
    1) Convert it a DV-AVI using MPEG Streamclip. It's a free program, but the DV-AVI it outputs will not be hi-def. It will be standard video, but it will be editable in Premiere Elements.
    2) Convert it to a standard def DV-AVI using Quicktime Pro, a $29 download from Apple.com,and edit in Premiere Elements.
    3) Use Quicktime Pro to do your editing. The video will remain a high-def MP4.
The best solution, of course, is if the camcorder itself comes with its own editing software. That's software you KNOW will work with the camcorder's footage.
But, short of that, you'll need to use one of the hybrid solutions above. But you will not be able to edit the footage directly in Premiere Elements. Sorry.

  • Premiere Elements 12, Project settings to burn a DVD

    Hi,
I'm a little confused about the project settings. I try to burn a DVD of 3 mpg-files. Here is a screenshot of the file info's, also one of the project settings:
According to the file information, I think the settings are correct, though the timeline shows an orange bar.
All files have the same informations.
When I go to finish the project to burn it on a DVD (output setting is PAL_Dolby DVD) it takes at least 14 hours, I don't think this is normal.
My system is a Macbook Pro, OS 10.9.1, 2.5 GHz, 16 GB RAM.
Any ideas what is wrong here?
    Thank you in advance.
    Jessie

    Jessie
Great news with your troubleshooting. Great job.
Let us now look at what you wrote
The only thing that's left now is why I'm not able to save a project when I added one of my self created menue template
from the point of view of
    a. how you created the menu template
    and
    b. where you placed it
    Creation of the menus...
    a. What did you put in the theme folder...just the main menu .psd file and scene menu.psd file or more? What were the exact names that you gave the main menu .psd file and scene menu .psd file? What program did you use to create your menus? We will get to the Layer Set structure in the Layers Palette of the .psd file(s) next if necessary.
    b. I do not have a Mac computer so I cannot talk in terms of .psd file location in Mac. I will now talk in terms of Windows and hope that you can translate the following into the right Mac location for the theme files (assumed also .psd type).
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Adobe Premiere Elements 12
    DVD Templates
    Common
and, in the Common Folder, create a new folder named My Specials. In the My Specials Folder create a new folder named My XXX Theme. Inside the XXX Theme Folder goes the XXX .psd files and other theme assets.
In Windows, the menu theme (Slideshow/Pan and Zoom) that comes with the program is found in the above location. The menus that require Content download are in the Windows Program Data path that leads to the Online Folder. I do not want you to use that latter path counterpart in your Mac.
But let me ask this basic questions...
    a. After you have placed the menu that you created in the computer, when you open Premiere Elements 12, do you see that menu in Movie Menu Display of menu choices
    b. If so, can you click on its choice, hit Continue, and have the theme appear in the Movie Menu customization area of the opened project
    c. If so, can you Preview the customized or uncustomized menu there and does it look good.
    d. When all is done, how many main menu pages and how many scene selection pages do you have?
Let us start here, review the above, and then decide what next.
    Thank you.
    ATR
Add On...Additional focus may be computer resources, placement of Timeline markers, and spacing between Timeline markers, as well as fine details of Layer Sets in the Layers Palette of the .psd file, whatever else you may be placing in the Theme Folder of the menu that you made yourself.

  • Placing background movie/project settings

I am lerning Livetype via a lynda.com tutorial. It says that if I'm using DV that my project settings should be set to DV NTSC 3:2, however my footage is shot in 16:9. What setting should I use. Do these settings only affect the placement of my type or do they affect the quality as well?
When I place a background movie that I exported from FCP and I use the DV NTSC 3:2 setting the picture is squeezed as I would expect, however, when I swith the settings to 1080I 16:9 the movie just occupies the upper left corner of my canvas. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Hopefully I am not leading you astray here. Try using the NTSC 3:2 (or is it 4:3?), and then change the height and width settings to match that of the widescreen (16:9). Kind of bizarre that it doesn't have a common preset.
From the FCE4 manual (http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=answerlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmanuals.info. apple.com%2Fen%2FFinalCut_Express_4_UserManual.pdf&answerid=16777224), you can find frame size for NTSC on page 1065. This information might also be in your FCP manual.

  • Reporting on custom fields in Project 2013

I have created custom fields in project 2013 i.e. renamed "cost 1", "text 1" etc. for the fields I require.  However when I go into reporting the fields are never there to select from.  The fields dont have formulas, a couple
have look up tables but they are basic red/green/amber.  I just need to know how I get a custom field to appear in the right hand field list when selecting fields to report on?

    Hi MS713,
We would need more details. Do you use Project Server or just MS Project standalone? Did you created the enterprise custom fields from PWA/server settings? Did you populate some values for some projects and publish the projects? What type of reports are
you talking about? SSRS, OLAP Cube, Excel? Is it that you cannot see the custom fields or you see them but with no values?
    Hope this helps,

  • Display Custom columns in Project dashboard

    Hello All,
We have a few custom fields at the project definition level. All our custom fields at project definition level are created using "custom tables" and we are handling the custom fields in a sub-system as well. By going through SAP notes and information available on SDN we are not able to figure out, if there is a way to display custom fields from custom tables in to the standard dashboard? I would greatly appreciate your help if someone can help us. Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Gopal.

    Hi Gopal,
Go to SPRO -> SAP xRPM -> Global Customizing -> Global Field Settings -> Define fields for Dashboards -> Specify Dashboard type as 'RIH' -> Add custom field names as in custom table that you want to add to Project Dashboard -> Save.
Now refresh the portal (if needed clear the cache) and click Item Dashboard -> Go to Settings in ALV table -> check fields are added to ALV dashboard.
    Regards,

  • How to select new motion 5 project settings

When I choose project settings, it only gives me for 1920 "Broadcast TV" at 59.94fps, but how to create 1920x1080p at 23.98fps?

From the Preset pop-up in the Project browser, select custom at the bottom of the list.  This will allow you to manually enter custom settings and change the default frame rate.  You can also go into the preferences for Motion and there is a Preset tab.  You can use this to create any custom preset you want.

  • On project settings

    Hello all!
Is it possible to change project settings in the Premiere start dialog and save those changes under the same setting? You have, for example, a setting called "Matrox HDV 1080i@25" and just want to change a single option in that setting and save it again as "Matrox HDV 1080i@25" in the same folder and not as "My own settings folder/My own HDV settings".
Or could you alternatively anyhow cut those settings and paste them in the "Matrox HDV" folder? I am able to find all general settings (*.prpreset) in the Adobe/Premiere Pro CS3 folder but not the settings I generated later myself.

You know where the default files are, but you can't find the ones you created in order to replace the originals?
I suggest that you reconsider replacing the original, but if it is something you really want to do for reasons I don't understand....
My newly created presets are in:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Steven\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\3.0\Settings\Custom
    Your's should be somewhere similar.

Anthony, thank you very much - this works, though I thought I had tried your process previously without success. I've tried so many things who knows. I've had zero luck going with the Send to Compressor or Export Using Compressor Settings under the Share menu. I'm also finding Compressor 4 to be a real dog on my system even though I have a brand new quad core machine with 8G of RAM. Prior to receiving your post I did come up with a different work process. Using Export Movie from FCP X and then loading the result in Compressor 3 works flawlessly. Thanks again!

  • Project settings for GoPro 2.7k in PrE12

    Hi everybody,
I know there are a few threads similar to my question already but I've read them and they aren't exactly getting at what I am trying to do.
My goal is to shoot 2.7k GoPro video, adjust the image in cineform studio using the protune preset, export to 2.7k cineform AVI, and import into PrE12 where I will apply the stabilizer effect to reduce the jerkyness of my underwater scuba video, then export a 1080p MP4 file.
My idea was that since the stabilizer effect basically crops the edges of the image to achieve the stabilization I would shoot at higher resolution, on wide FOV rather than medium FOV, and after the stabilizer effect has been applied have a video somewhere between 2.7k (2704x1524) and 1080p (1920x1200).  I could then export this as 1080p having avoided losing the edges of my image (by using wide FOV) and still have full 1080p resolution (by shooting in 2.7k originally).
I hope that made sense to somebody because I started getting confused myself writing it...
The problem is that I don't see a project setting for 2.7k video import.  There is one for 4k and one for 1080p but nothing inbetween and I don't see a way to set a custom resolution.  So I'm assuming that using the 4k project settings will result in my video being stretched and losing quality, and that the 1080p settings will defeat the purpose of my goals/ideas as I mentioned above.
Is there somebody who knows more about this software and can guide me on what I am trying to accomplish?  If that includes investing in some more sophisticated software (premiere pro?) I might be willing to do that.
    Thank you!

    I'm facing  the same challenge..
This was posted in March, and there have been no replies?!
Not even from the people behind Adobe..
DId you find how to do this already Polyknikes?

  • Project Settings on Network Drive

    Hi Folks,
I just got my Buffalo Link Station and I came up with an FCP-question.
In order for me to access my projects from all my computers in my network I wanted to copy the "Final Cut Projects" Folder to the shared drive. Will that chance the performance of FCP in any way? I know that I can't work in one project from two computers, but that won't be the problem.
Just wanted to know if there are any problems with running the projects off a network drive.
    Thanks for your help

I just wanted the project settings on the network
The project's settings are part of the project file. You can store the project file on a network drive, but it would be better to copy it to the computer you're working on or on the external drive that the media is stored ... since you'll have to have that drive connected to the working computer anyway.
