Custom Report Object To Render Vector Image
Post Author: RSlaughter
CA Forum: .NET
Hi, I'm using the version of Crystal Reports that ships with Visual Studio .Net 2003 (Maintaining a legacy app) and have come across a problem where I need a way to convert data that is stored as text into a set of vectors which are then used to draw an image. Is there any way to achieve this, i.e. by creating a custom component of some sort that can then be used in the report, and if so how?I've failed thus far to find any information at all on the subject.Thanks,RSlaughter

That sounds like a job for User-Defined Function Library (UFL) - it's a COM-based interface that allows you to create your own Crystal functions.
Since it's COM based, I think for VS 2003 you had to write them in COM, e.g.., VB6.
With CR for VS 2005, wrappers were supplied that allowed you to write them in .NET using COM-Interop.

Is it possible to set the Font of the Report Object?
Greetings All:
I see methods for setting the color, and size of the text in the report object - but no mention of how or where the underlying font is set.
My workstation appears to be set to Arial.
I am working on an application that REALLY needs to use a monospace font like Courier.
If anyone can tell me how to get the report object to render a monospace font, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank You
MarkOk, I had a chance to test this, and was able to verify the above style does allow you to change the math font. BEWARE: Not all fonts have all the necessary glyphs to properly display math notation. Try several fonts and font families and decide which ones work best. Whatever font(s) you choose, it makes sense to embed them into your iBook (see http://www.macworld.com/article/2013246/hands-on-with-ibooks-author-2-0.html).
So where does the math CSS go?
Within an iBook, each section has its own CSS. Export the book to a location on your computer. UnZIP it by changing the extension from .ibooks to .zip, then unzip it to your computer. Within the book, in the OPS folder, each section will have a different file named content1.xhtml, content2.xhtml, etc. There will be a corresponding CSS file in the assets/css subfolder. Open as many of these (content1.css, content2.css, etc. -- you don't need ones like content2-flow.css) as you need, and add the math style to the file as a new line. After you save the CSS file(s), change the extension of your book from .zip back to .ibooks.
There are no doubt others who monitor this forum who know more about this than I do. I'd be interested in hearing from others, because I'd like to know more about it myself.
Hope that's of some help. -
Report does not render image when using DoCmd.OutputTo to PDF
Hello All.... and Happy new year !!!
I have a form that has an embedded report and a series of cmd buttons to print the report or export it to file and saves it.
In the report I have an Image object (a logo) that is in the header.
When I print the report to a printer or a PDF printer the image is present.
When I use DoCmd.OutputTo the report is properly exported to PDF and saved but the image is not present.
I've tried playing with the ExportQuality, the "fit to page", etc... but nothing seems to get it working.
here is the vba I use
'Open the report as hidden to filter the data
DoCmd.OpenReport reportToExport, acViewPreview, , filterReportBy, acHidden
'if we show the report
If (booSeeFile) Then
'export to pdf to save and autostart
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, reportToExport, acFormatPDF, filepath, vbYes
Else
'export to pdf to save
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, reportToExport, acFormatPDF, filepath
End If
Any help would be great !given that you've gone 12 hours with no reply; I generally don't have any problem with the logo going from the Report object to the PDF export. When a report is opened on screen - right click - and one of the choices is 'Export To' and one of those
choices is 'PDF or XPS' - - - just try that as a sanity check....
there are 2 kinds of image controls - I can't remember off hand their formal name but one has the image embedded permanently inside the report object and so this one should go to the PDF.....the other type is a file link to the image for which the advantage
is that image can be dynamically changed on the fly. This second type probably will not appear in an export as the file link is probably broken....
hope this helps a little......

Error while running Webi report that uses Custom Dimension object(SAP BW)
Hi,
I have a universe that is based on SAP BW.I have created a custom dimension object that displays the maximum date.
The object syntax is
<expression>Max(@Select(CPS Online\Calendar day))</expression>
The object parses successfully.
The object 'Calendar Day ' is a defaultobject created during universe creation from the BW query.It is defined as [0CALDAY].[LEVEL01]
I tried to create a Webi report using this object and a measure .On running the query it throws the following error:
A database error occured. The database error text is: The MDX query WITH MEMBER [Measures].[EBC10672-C0DA-4998-93,80,D3,FF,C3,E8,A2,22] AS ' Max{[0CALDAY].[LEVEL01]} ' SELECT { [Measures].[EBC10672-C0DA-4998-93,80,D3,FF,C3,E8,A2,22], [Measures].[4JCOSFOKKCUR3RMBPNROFKQQD] } ON COLUMNS , NON EMPTY [0CALDAY].[LEVEL01].MEMBERS DIMENSION PROPERTIES [0CALDAY].[20CALDAY] ON ROWS FROM [ZCCPSONL/ZCPSONLINE] failed to execute with the error Invalid MDX command with (. (WIS 10901)
I have tried every possible syntax I could think of but I keep getting this error each time.I have set the object type to Number (even though it is actually a Date), I have tried writing the MDX inside the Max instead of the @select , but nothing seems to work.Could anyone please let me know why this error is occuring?Is there anything wrong with the syntax or is there any setting in Webi needed before a custom dimension object can be used on it.Can you see data for Custom object @ BEx level??
YES, then just try to re-create the same variable and Save the BW query.
Now do View - refresh Strusture @ Universe. And you can see Filter for the same, just Parse it, just whether it is OK or not.
OK -- then Export the Universe and create WebI reports, this will come as Prompt.
Hope it will helps you.
Thank You!!

Hello,
As you can tell from the title of this question, I am no expert with GPO's. Before I begin, I spent a few minutes to an hour searching and reading in hopes of finding the solution and avoid putting myself out there as a "GPO Newb". While
I found several posts and answers that were similar and were related, the questions and answers were more advanced and did present the solutions providing the person had initial knowledge already. That is not necessarily my case and I would ask for a
little patience and a bit of 'hand-holding' for what I need.
I run SBS 2011, and in Group Policy Management I have a custom GPO. In this GPO I define all my settings. I understand this may not be the best or most practical method of applying policies, but I am not very strict and have few settings. This
policy existed prior to my joining the company, and was migrated in to this SBS '11 from SBS '03. That may be the issue, but before making any changes I am seeking expert advice.
When I select that GPO, named "Main GPO", and click on the tab at the top "Settings" I see the error: "An error occurred while generating report: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I saw that when I right click the GPO > View > Options and select the tab "Reporting" that it states that for reporting to work the location of the .adm files must be specified. I see that my option for the location is set to "Default"
which by my guessing would be located in the C:\Windows\sysvol directory. Below is what I see there:
C:\Windows\sysvol\domain
C:\Windows\sysvol\staging
C:\Windows\sysvol\staging areas
C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol
I think the problem is that my custom GPO are not inside the default location, which I speculate is: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies (which I do see some objects there).
But instead I also see items in this folder: C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol\JOHN.LOCAL\policies (while where I just typed 'JOHN.LOCAL' is my actual local domain).
To further this, when I edit that custom GPO, then at the very top of the tree I right click on it and select Properties, I see a Unique Name listed there as a long string of numbers and letters, similar to a registry entry. I searched my server for
that same Unique Name and found it listed inside the folder: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies
If I am correct with my assumption and basic knowledge, I should move all objects as follows:
-Move FROM: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies
-Move TO: C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol\JOHN.LOCAL\policies
My concerns are that I am not correct at all, that I will break something, that there may be an easier fix than moving anything, or that I am overlooking something causing this error altogether.
Thank you for anyone's help and time with assisting me with this request.
John Fester> top "Settings" I see the error: "An error occurred while generating
> report: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
That's due to a security setting (most possibly) your current OS does
not understand. Hard to find out wich exact setting it is... To resolve
this issue, we need the gtpptmpl.inf file residing in the policiy's
sysvol folder. To open this folder, edit the policy, move to computer
settings - policies - windows settings - scripts - startup, press "show
files". Then move two folders upwards and back down to
.\microsoft\windows nt\secedit. There you'll see the gpttmpl.inf - post
its contents and we'll have a look at it.
> location, which I speculate is: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies (which
> folder: C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol\JOHN.LOCAL\policies (while where I just
That's perfectly ok - JOHN.LOCAL in fact is a symlink pointing to "domain".
> all objects as follows:
> -Move FROM: C:\Windows\sysvol\domain\policies
> -Move TO: C:\Windows\sysvol\sysvol\JOHN.LOCAL\policies
No.

How to display images in custom reports?
Hi,
I have a table with a ordsys.ordimage field, where I am uploading images. I created a custom report based on that table but I just cant seem to find a way to show images in it. Could anyone please tell me how to do this.Assuming you are using PSQuery.
In your query go to the expressions tab.
Add in the following:
SUBSTR(sys_context('USERENV', 'CLIENT_INFO'), 1, INSTR(sys_context('USERENV', 'CLIENT_INFO'), ',', 1, 1) - 1)
That will return who is running the query in your results.
Then you use this field in your XMLP template.

List of reports using custom OM object
Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to retrieve all the reports and interfaces which are using a custom OM object. Since I cannot do a where used list for the custom object in HRP 1000, which approach I should use ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
MeghaMegha,
You can use SAP program RS_ABAP_SOURCE_SCAN to search for your custom object used in SAP programs. In this report you can specify the search string, program name (can be Z*) and other selection criteria.
This program will give the list of all the SAP objects where your string is being used. This program may take some time for processing depending on your selection criteria. -

Custom Report Item CustomData evaluation problem in a subreport loop
Came across a strange problem with the custom report item CustomData property evaluation when using a sub report loop.
I have a master report, which contains a sub report component within a List. The List is bound to a dataset from which a numeric value is passed on to a sub report's report parameter, and from there further down as an argument to a sub report dataset. The sub
report contains our custom image CRI, which is bound to the said dataset. This dataset outputs a base64 encoded image data value, which the CRI then renders.
Now the problem is that only the first sub report iteration gets evaluated correctly, rest of them seem to get their CRI CustomData from the first iteration. So essentially the loop just outputs the same first sub report over and over again.
However, if I make the List component do a page break after each sub report, then all the sub reports start getting rendered correctly.
Here's how the CustomData gets initialized in the CRI designer class:
this.CustomData = new CustomData();
this.CustomData.DataRowHierarchy = newDataHierarchy();
this.CustomData.DataRowHierarchy.DataMembers.Add(newDataMember());
this.CustomData.DataRowHierarchy.DataMembers[0].Group = newGroup();
this.CustomData.DataRowHierarchy.DataMembers[0].Group.Name = this.Name + "_SingleGrouping";
this.CustomData.DataRowHierarchy.DataMembers[0].Group.GroupExpressions.Add(new ReportExpression());
this.CustomData.DataColumnHierarchy = new DataHierarchy();
this.CustomData.DataColumnHierarchy.DataMembers.Add(new DataMember());
DataRow row = new DataRow();
DataValue value = new DataValue();
value.Name = "Base64";
value.Value = "";
DataCell cell = new DataCell();
cell.Add(value);
row.Add(cell);
this.CustomData.DataRows.Add(row);
The CRI also exposes the CustomData's DataSetName and a Base64 property.
Has anyone else seen something like this happen? Not sure if this could be an issue with our CustomData configuration/usage, the API documentation is pretty much non-existent as usual. Seems more like bug to
me.
Leo Wartinen, Predisys Inc.Hi WarLe,
If I understand correctly, you are using a list control to contain the subreport in the master report. The dataset of the list contains the field which is passed as the parameter values of the subreport. When you render the report, only the first subreport
gets evaluated correctly, rest of them seem to get their CRI CustomData from the first iteration, right?
If in this scenario, it seems that you haven’t add a group in the list. We can try to add a group grouped on the field which is passed as the parameter values of the subreport to check the issue again. Besides, could you mind post the sample data for the
dataset of the list and tell us the settings for the list control? Then we can make further analysis.
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

Does anyone know how to add custom "Report Links" to OBIEE? Right now the standard report links available are "Modify", "Refresh", "Printer Friendly", "Download", "Addd to Briefing Book", and "Copy". I want add another option called "Detailed Report" and have it appear along side all the other report links.
Is this possible?
-JoeI am not aware of a "best practice" for doing exactly what you wish to do. If you have a large number of reports and you wish all to have a "summary" or "detail" that the user can choose, one way to have this functionality is to build a "table of contents" dashboard page composed of "link or image" objects that have, as titles, "Report1 -- Summary" and next to it "Report1 -- Detail" and have them all listed next to each other in column form.
The user can then right off choose if he/she wishes to see the summary version or detailed version of any report and when opening them up (in a new window) can decide whether to print, download, etc. This gives an overall view of all your reports so the user can see everything and at the same time choose between what version of the report he/she wants to view.
As far as "best practices" in general, I have this book which has some good tips:

Have problem inporting vectors image from illustractor to fireworks cs4
Ever time try take vector image in to fireworks cs4 the frost on the hot chocolate up is missing but leave cup and chocolate parts I don't understand why the wip frost will not going in fireworks cs4.
here image of vectore try import and file maybe someone else can get and let know how do it
http://cid-e07bb1a42b9c4108.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/shutterstock%5E_9521005%20 [Converted].epsWell, you had a Gradient Mesh in Illustrator.
This gives trouble to Fireworks, as it can't render it properly. The trick is to first convert the Gradient Mesh in Illustrator to some sort of a bitmap (yes, I know, vectors are lost, but...) then re-save file and open in Fireworks and you're done!
I think I converted the Gradient Mesh obect to a Clipping Mask but I suppose you can convert to something else. The point is to not have a gradient mesh, but a bitmap object...
Hope this helps! -
How to add a specific parameter in custom report

I have created a custom report in OIM 10g. I have three input parameters. startdate, enddate and resource object name,. With start date and end date the report is displaying correctly. when i add the resource object name as the third specific parameter is throwing the below exception

ThanksHey,
From OIM 9.1.0.2 Reports you have two options:
With OIMReports:
1- Including in XML files the parameters as section: Examples of InputParameter tags and ReturnColumns tag
2-And Creating a New Entry in the REP Table.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10391_01/doc.910/e10365/reporting.htm
Section: How to create Report in OIM 9.1.0.2.
With BIPublisher(easiest way-license is needed):
Once you downloaded and install BIPub in your application server you will have access to all OIM report definitions.Then it is just a matter of learning how to change a report definition. It's very simple.
It has a 'desktop tool' that you can install in your desktop. This specifc tool provides an extension to MS Word(MACRO) and you can even work with Word to generate report templates.
Descriptions:
0- deploy BIPublisher and OIM reports to your apps server
1- Install the BIPublisher desktop tools in your desktop
2- Modify the report query using the BIPub interface and add your UDF fields
3- Run the report you want to modify from BIPub and export the generated data as XML
4- Download the report template in RTF format
5- With RTF file(open it) in your MS Word
6- Load the XML file you generated in step 4 in your MS Word
7- You could load this specif xml change what you want. (word will have a 'BI Publisher' menu with different operations you can do)
7- With Report template(save it).
8- Update the report template in the report definition(using the BIPub web interface
9- Run the report again
It means that front end page you need to edit this in Word page.

Custom report listing database links
I'm trying to determine what tables/views in the EM12c repository contain database link information (if any), so I can create a custom report using it. Has anyone come across an EM schema description or know how to determine what objects/queries are behind a page in EM? If the data isn't centralized in the EM schema, I recognize I could create a Group and run a query against DB_DB_LINKS to generate a link report for all the databases. Is that a better way to do it? I'm open to additional suggestions or tips, since I'm new to the custom reporting features ... (and not trying to reinvent the wheel here). Thanks.
There is no table in em repository database that contains db link information for database targets. The way to get this info is create a dblink in your em repository database for each database target then create plsql package that connect to each target over dblink and writes the info into a table in em repository table. You could also just create a sql job from em and run against each database target.
If you need help with the plsql let me know I have several of these in my em to extract specific data I need from each db target. -
Few questions when using a custom report row template. Followup to the discussion Report Row Template: Column condition
1. The row template allows full control how the entire row is rendered. I can see this being used when the report query returns a single row and we need to format it in a very specific way. But when the query returns multiple rows, how is the specified Row Template used? i.e the first row is "consumed" and rendered as per the template. If the same process is repeated for subsequent rows, how can we control whether successive rows are rendered across the page (left to right) or down the page (top to bottom)?
2. When a custom row template is used to render a tabular form, the hidden columns (marked Edit=Y, Show=N on Report Attributes) are present in the markup even when they are not specified in the row template! i.e. the MRU process works. Of course, this is a good thing but I was curious to know what exactly controls this, what part of the report template controls where the hidden form elements are placed?
3. Any number/date formatting specified declaratively on the Column Attributes page appears to be taken into account when column values are substituted in the template using #COL# notation. But all the other Column Attributes are ignored (alignment, sum, show, link, etc). Is there a way to use the Link attribute to declaratively specify the link so the value of the column #COL# as seen by the report template includes the A tag?
ThanksComments? Thanks
