Custom reports / edit existing reports

I would like to edit some existing reports in Service Desk. Many report do what I'm looking for except for one thing. All 'closed reports' report the closed/resolved step in the workflow. We have a validation step on which I would like to report. How can I edit existing reports to match this? We are currently running 6.2 but can upgrade to 6.5 if needed.
With the report builder in 6.5 is it possible to edit these reports without having to make them from scratch?

Do you see any error when you run the ETL, i.e. the Java ETL embedded with the app server?

    there's a lot of differences between the 2 tools so it really depends on what the end user experience is, how much data manipulation is required, and the amount of formatting required.
    if you want an ad hoc tool where the end user creates reports (or edits existing reports) with tables and charts and there's not too much data manipulation / high level formulas, then consider web intelligence.
    if you're looking to build formatted reports with more complexity and you require more in a formula editor, then consider crystal. i would recommend anyone that is just starting out to design crystal reports to take a course as there's a lot there to learn. you can also design simpler reports though so don't let that scare you off.

    Ravi,
    Which extra field do you want to add or see?  Without specifying the field, it is difficult for one to tell you precisely whether you need a custom field or just change the layout to get the standard one.
    There are so many fields which exists but are not displayed when you execute 2KEE. You need to change the layout selections to your preference.
    Nonetheless, if the field you want to add does not already exist, then yes you can do customization.  Is there a customization requirement? No. But remember, you are making changes to SAP Standard program which will no longer be supported by SAP should in the case an issue arise in the future related to this very program.
    Have your abaper add the said field in the program or why not just create a query to pull the report?

  • Print Preview in CM14 after Edit BI Report not working; Advance print is

    I created a custom Form in BI Publisher for the Payment requisition Module.
    I have already imported it in CM14 Admin site so it does show up in CM14.
    I have also made this the default form for this group.
    After I edit the report format in RTF and upload it, I go back to CM14 and click print preview, and none of the changes i made are shown. If i go to advance print and preview the same Form, the changes are shown.
    The only way i can get the print preview to show the changes is to go into CM14 Admin and upload it.
    The cache options are all off for the form. I am using PCM 14.0.3.0 Build 2458 and Oracle BI Publisher 11.1.1.6.7 
    Any ideas why print preview is not showing the changes but advance print is?

    I have not seen this before, but would suggest:
    1.  You may want to try clearing your browser and java cache and see if that fixes the problem.
    Also, I have seen where form changes didn't push through when modifying the same form that existed unless you did a new Import Forms in Admin when the form or report had a PROMPT for criteria included.  So I'm not sure if something like that is occurring.
    Basically, you're saying that the print preview works correctly after doing an Import Forms but not before, right?

  • Not able to edit the report created on different data source.....

    I have a query regarding Report in OBIEE - reports developed from BI Publisher are specific to data source on which they have been created ??
    i have a sample report that was created on different data source, i have the corresponding RPD also. I changed the data source according to my DB and when i try to update/edit the report,
    on Analytics for adding a new column, it is generating a seperate new Query from QueryBuilder for that additional cloumn rather than adding up the new query with the previous one(existing report query). Is it because of mismatch of data source on which report had been created and on which it is being update ?? if it is the case, where do i need to make changes related to JDBC connection or others ??
    when i try to create a new sample data set and try to update it, it adds up the extra edited things to original query and works perfectly fine. can ny 1 help me for the same ??

    Normally,what we do is once we provide access to webi users group for each user from BO supervisor module, user(s) will able to refresh/edit the existing report from Full client BO.His colleagues have had no problem editing all his reports from their machines but he is not able to edit any report from his machine and BO is getting freeze.
    He also reinstalled BO and cleaned out everything on his Computer and re-built it but the issue is not yet resolved
    Can you please tell me how to resolve this issue

  • Adding new column in an existing report which was build using Union

    While working in OBIEE 11g I encounter an issue.
    My existing report was build using UNION at Criteria Tab in Analysis. Now I have a requirement to add a new column into the same report. For each criteria I have added the new column but when I go back to the "Result Columns". I see a new field added but it is not allowing me to open or edit column properties for that new column & at the same time it is not allowing me to navigate to other tabs like Results, Promts, and Advanced.
    I don’t want to build this report from scratch. Is there any workaround to get it resolved?

    Just check it once the new added column data types are mismatched or not?
    and the new added column should be navigated into excluded section, so u should edit the report and dragged into the table column section.

  • Open a subreport from an existing report  without hitting the database

    Hello Experts,
                           I want to open a webi subreport with the data  from an exisiting webi report directly not from database.currently i am using hyperlink on some measure values and in theses hyperlink, i am using  opendocument query and passing the values in the filters created at subreport side,but  every time i clicked on hyperlink its opening the subreport but taking data from data base instead of existing report.
    i also tried in this way by passing a context from parent report  :
    I am having country column in my report which is having many countries, i want that when i click on england it should open the subreport with the data only for england from parent report not from database.

    Have you tried editing your subreport query properties? uncheck Refreshable and Editable checkboxes.

  • Unable to edit sample reports in Excel

    Hello,
    I'm able to view sample reports from Business Intelligence Center when I browse from the PWA homepage, but when I hit "Open in Excel" I get the following error: "To open this workbook, your computer must have a version of Microsoft Excel installed
    and your web browser must support opening files directly from Excel in your browser".  If I go back to the sample reports page and use the drop down beside any sample report and select "Edit in Excel" and "Open", I get the following
    error: "Microsoft Excel cannot access the file at ....ResourceCapacity.odc" followed by "Problems Obtaining Data" followed by "[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]SQLServer does not exist or access denied."  Same thing
    happens if I try to manually create a new data source through Excel.  This happens for all sample reports, templates and data connections.
    The weird part is that if I log onto the server (using the same AD credentials that I used for my laptop), open up PWA in a browser, go to Business Intelligence Center and try to edit any sample report, template or data connection in Excel, I have no issues. 
    Wouldn't that mean that Excel Services and Secure Store have been set up properly?
    Wondering why no machine outside of the server can edit the reports etc...Any ideas?

    This is by design.
    In Excel 2010/2013, the only way that the client can talk to the database is via an OLEDB connection. This requires direct read-only access and does not use Excel Services/Secure Store. If you are viewing the report via the web, then Secure Store/Excel Services
    is used.
    Because of the direct database access issue, you must be authenticated to the network before you can edit the reports. You would need to VPN into your network first. My chalk talk on this may be helpful.

  • Not able to edit the report from BO 5.1

    Hi,
    User has Business Objects 5.1 version on his machine  and he is able to login to Business Objects 5.1.2 and can also open the BO reports from the required path
    When he edit the report, the BO is gettng hung and following errors occured one by one when he clicks ok button
    error1: "you must close this universe(name of universe) before importing it"
    when he clicks OK button on this error, second error is received
    error2: "Some obsolete objects have been removed from the query. (QP0027)"
    When he clicks OK button on this error, third error is received
    error3:"A connection required to refresh this document is unavailable(DA0004)"
    I am not understanding why these three errors are receiving one by one.Please tell me how to resolve above errors and edit the report

  • Can i open a existing report using a report generation toolkit

    Hello All,
    Suppose I create a new excel report today and close the program, Tomorrow I open the same program and instead of creating a new excel file, i need to update the test results data into the excel file which was created yesterday, is this possible.
    I am confused because there is no option called Open report in report generation toolkit, it just has create new report option.
    Probably NI Guys can work on this...sorry if it is a;lready existing?
    Is there any method to open a existing report?

    I have a similar problem. I'd like to use Report Generation Toolkit to enter data into some cells in the active worksheet of the active workbook but it seems impossible?! The user has in beforehand opened the desireed workbook and activated the desired worksheet. I use the 'New Report' VI with the template input set as the path of the active workbook (some self-made ActiveX calls to get the path). When this VI is run, howevere, the excel file is sort of re-opened and another worksheet becomes the active one.
    I tried to make a customized copy of New Report.vi, New Report subVI.vi and Excel_Open_Workbook.vi so that the Report object works with the currently active workbook and worksheet, but I failed due to my lack of knowledge in LV classes and such things. It would've been an ugly solution anyway to have custom low-level VIs that does not follow when the RepGen Toolkit develops in the future.

    With Firefox it works fine.
    Customer is using IE as standard browser and Firefox is not available here.

  • Change Selection criteria for existing report in Report painter

    Hi Experts,
    We are on 4.7, using report painter for getting reports for Cost center & Profit Center. For one of the report we have selection criteria as Cost center and cost center group, but now user want us to add new selection field as Cost element and cost element Group to same report. We have tried all the options from GR32 ->Edit-> General Selection, but we don't find cost element in Key figure listed there.
    Please let us know how can we add the new field to selection criteria. We also would like to know is this is possible with existing report  to add new fields or not? Is that we need to create new report for this?

    Shilpa-
    In my opinion the best way to troubleshoot issues like this is to go to SAP delivered standard reports and see how they are setup. For example, in your case you want to add cost element and cost element group to your report. There is one standard report from SAP - Transaction :S_ALR_87013611 which has both cost center, cost center group and cost element, cost element group in the selection criteria. You can look how this report is set up, and maintain your report in a similar fashion. Atleast this way, it will give you an idea.
    Go to transaction code GRR3 and under library look for report "1SIP-001". By double clicking on the row, you will see how it is maintained.

    There is a lot of scope for performance tuning the code:
    1. Read statement should be with BINARY SEARCH
    2. Select statement should have FIELDS in the same order as they exist in the table
    3. Select statement where clause should have fields in same order as they exist in the table.
    4. Internal tables seem to be having a huge number of fields. If possible, please limit the fields to only required fields in the internal table.

    I have to create new group in a report already existed . But every time I do it in Graphical Data Model, when apply in Report Wizard, The report changes completely with the position of columns and even the style of the report is modified.
    How I can avoid this fact ?

    Then my problem is it exceeds the limiit and it disrupts after.Which llimit you are talking about?
    And Why when I create repeating frame, the column which I draw it developp and the others remain fixed ?You mean the new column you created you can move outside the frame? And the column you had before you can not move?
    A hint while creating group repeating frame you will have to select all the objects and place it in the new created grouped repeating frame. Then create new fields inside that group repeating frame.

  • How to create an editable previewable report?

    The Situation (the report is  CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument):
    I load the report (.Load(Template)) and  set data (.SetDataSource(DataTable)). I save the report (.SaveAs or .Export). The Template does not necessary contains fields in DataTable used as datasource.
    When I open the created report in "Crystal Reports 2011" the report preview is shown.  When I switch to the design tab I can drag fields to the report, but when I switch to the preview again a dialog asking for ado.net xml datafile is shown and when canceled (I have no datafile) empty preview is shown. In Visual Studio 2010 (CRVS 2010?) I see the preview when I cancel the dialog and click the design and  the preview again.
    The Question:
    Is it possible to create a report containing data with the preview working after report is edited?
    Note:
    I can achieve the desired behavior with external data file, but this soulution is not very convenient.

    Ah... that helps a lot...
    A couple of ways to go about this. From your template report compare the fields that exist in the report with those your Query has and add them into the Report. You can use the Command Object to append the fields and then the report will need to be refreshed against the XML file. In this case though the report will need to be ran again.
    Another option is to export your data from your Query into a DataSet and simply .setlocation to the DS, great for small amounts of data, less than 2K rows or so but you'll have to test for the limits.
    Another option is to to use RAS to completely create the report from nothing. See these samples on how to:

    Bottom line is if you change the fields in a report it is going to have to be refreshed so the report can add/update the field reference list saved in the RPT file. If they don't match CR will simply delete all fields it can't match up.
    If using RAS to Create the report and set it to the new field list then you can build your own "Report Designer"
    As for running the Query again, that depends on how and where the data exists. If you save your date results into an XML file then it won't hit the DB again.
    This will generate the XML file:
                ds.WriteXml(@"D:\Atest\list_of_workflows.xml");
                ds.WriteXmlSchema(@"D:\Atest\list_of_workflows.xsd");
    Then load the XML file into a Dataset and then simply use:
    rpt.SetDataSource(ds);
    To set the Report to the XML file.
    XML is the preferred way and it doesn't have any memory limitations as Active DataSets do. ( MS limitation due to security, CR can't access the original so we have to make a copy which effectively doubles the amount of memory required )
