Customise Error Message on Portlet Header

Default portlet error message displays "Error" or blank page on a page portlet when application is not available or timeout. Changing the error message in portlet provider (page portlet) does not correct the problem. Extend the timeout setting in web.xml cannot correct the priority. Please help.

Same here just a screen while trying to click on a link from a bar chart. Just says "Error Message".

I would like to customise some ADF JSF error message. I've got the error - JBO-25013: Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[ASGARD CBD ]. but would like to replace it with "Row already exists with same Cmp Id,Cmp Tran Type".
I've followed the steps outlined in http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/bcadvgen008.htm#sm0462 and after recompilation and reganeration, the old error message still appears. Can you guys please help me with it? Thank you and have a nice day.

Thank you for your reply but I'm a bit confused here.
First, when you say 'open your JHS-Application definition generator' do you actually mean JHS Application Definition Editor (JADE)?
Under the service node? I cannot see any 'service node' anywhere inside JADE. But I can see 'NLS Resource Bundle *' with the value of 'PAM0840_From_Designer.view.ApplicationResources'.
Go to the above path? What above path do you mean?
Uncheck OVERRIDE NLS entries? Do you mean uncheck the 'Override NLS Resource Bundle Entries?*' inside JADE under the 'Internationalization' section?

Error message for portlet undeploy

Hi,
I use Sun Java System Portal Server 6 2005Q4 for windows 2000 server , use the following command to undeploy portlet.
C:\Sun\PortalServer\bin> pdeploy undeploy -u amAdmin -w ampasswd -g -p amAdmin C:\Sun\PortalServer\tmp\portlet\portletsamples.war
I got the following error message =>
Exception getting xml as stream: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Sun\PortalServer\tmp\portlet\C:\Sun\PortalServer\tmp\portlet\portletsamples.war_portlet.xml
(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)
Can someone help me ?

The undeploy is working for me now, but I got warning message
when I deploy the portlet.
I use pdeploy deploy command to deploy the portlet, but I got the following error message.

is there anyway to customise the error messages rendered through <h:output_errors .../> tag, without creating a custom validator or converter ?

Currently, you may have to write a custom validator. But this has been fixed already. So you don't have to do that in future.

Customised Error Message for ESS-MSS Applications

Hello All,
Currently, if there are any errors in the ESS/MSS transactions, we get the 503 error with lot of irrelevant data to the users. We have a basic html page which says, "There is a issue-Please contact XXXX".
Is there a way to replace the standard error message with this html page ?
PS: I am not talkign about the "Dispatcher Running" or "Application Stopped" messages, Please do not point me again to SAP Help website which doesn't answer my query. THIS IS ABOUT REPLACING THE STANDARD ERROR MESSAGES FOR ESS/MSS APPLICATIONS.
Any help is much appreciated.

Let me clarify the difference between ESS and MSS errors and JAVA stack errors
A "503 Service not available" is not an ESS or MSS error - this is the thrown by the stack (possibly while navigating
in ESS or MSS)
The only information I have available in the case of java stack errors is to follow

Whcih indicates how to customize stack errors like 404 or 500
Lastly you can also decide to hide the stack trace as per KBA 1596212
To modify an ESS or MSS message this may require modification to front and back-end HCM application - usually
ESS gets error information based on back-end errors example "fill in all required fields"

Captivate 6 - SWF Compilation Failed Error Message Rears Ugly Head

Hi all!
I'm attempting to publish a project using Captivate 6 (with Flash Setting 10 or 11). I am publishing to my desktop, Windows 7 OS, and the message further states the thing about ActionScript and user variables having the same name or something. I've seen the message all over the forums, so I'm sure it's not new to you. I have not created any user variables, so I'm at a loss as to what to check here.
My original problem was trying to get embedded videos to publish. I kept getting this "busy" looking icon and nothing ever happened. Now I can't even get the project to publish. Any help would be appreciated. I sold my boss on this great feature, yet can't seem to get the videos to work. Thanks in advance!!

I'm was having this same problem for over a week now. I hunted through countless post with out finding a solution. It's not just with one project but all even fresh ones that have no varibles or actionscripts. I've uninstalled both Adobe Flash, and Java, and reinstalled them. I've also had a team member open my projects and was able to Preview and Publish them with no problem. I installed the same version of Java he's using with no resolve. My system is Windows XP Pro 32-bit, so it's not an issue of running the 64-bit version and switching. I have tried all the quick-fixes here with no change to the error message. My IT team has uninstalled and reinstalled the program as well.
BUT!!
I have found a solution which I am very surprised no one has suggested yet. This is what worked for me, using Adobe's dcache.exe tool, I cleared the Adobe Captivate Cache folder, reopend the projects and BAM, they compiled.

Error message says, printer head can't move, unplug the printer and check for obstruction

The computer says the cartridge carrier can't move, check for a paper jam or other obstruction. There is no paper jam, and if you tilt the printer, the cartridge carrier slides easily across the paper.

I understand that you're getting a 'carriage jam' error on your HP Deskjet D2430 Printer when printing from your Windows Vista computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this error state. I see that you have already checked for jams and verified that the carriage moves. However, the error persists. At this time I am going to run you through some additional printer hardware troubleshooting steps.
Step 1: Print a Self-Test Report:
We are going to verify right from the start if you are getting a false Carriage Jam error message from your computer. Therefore, I am going to have you try to print a standalone report from your printer.
1. Press the Power button () to turn the product on.
2. Hold the Power button () down.
3. Continue to hold the Power button (), and then open and close the carriage access door four times.
4. Release the Power button ().
A Self - Test report should now print. If the report fails to print please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Check the Hardware:
I understand that you have already checked your machine for jams. There are a few areas where paper or debris may hide. To verify that your printer hardware is in perfect condition can I please have you click here. Please run through Solution two, Solution three, Solution four, and Solution five. This includes any sub-steps under each of the listed Solutions.

Customised error messages

Hey, i have deployed my app, which was built on JSF frame work on Tomcat 5.5. Sometimes it so happens that while browsing the user gets a Error 500 or Error 404. Its those system generated errors that we keep seeing in the browsers - with stack trace, root cause and all.. etc
But I want a customized error messages to be displayed instead of this standard server generated error message. so when the server wants to print a Error 500 page.. it does not uses its own page.. but uses my customized error page.. ..so instead of bugging the user with all these details.. it just says on the customized error page "there has been an internal server error."
Is there any way to implement this in JSF?

Read up on the error-page element that one can leverage within the web.xml.

I found that Email portlet create a new SMTP connection to the SMTP server every time initSession is called(constructor of class Smtp). These increasing number of SMTP connection finally hit the limit of the SMTP server, leading to incomplete execution of initSession, which cause the problem.
(call path: MailProviderInstance.initSession() -> MailAuthenticationModule.authenticate() -> Smtp())
One thing to notice is that, when I test it no mail is to be sent. There should not be any open SMTP connection. Thus I wonder if it is a mistake in the program code that makes these unnecesssary SMTP connections.
If so, would there be a new release of email portlet available?

Error message at SC Header level

Hello,
I've made changes to check for approval notes to be mandatory when a shopping cart is rejected using the CHECK BAdI. The message doesn't come up when rejecting at header level, only when rejecting at item level is then that it comes up.

I think this badi is not very efficient when rejecting from the inbox (header level), allready encounter pb with this.
Anyway, you'll need to go into the detail screen to add an approval note. Why not simply deactivate the direct approve and reject button from the inbox (dynamic columns for integrated inbox) ?

Customising fileDownloadActionListener error messages

I use fileDownloadActionListener to stream a pdf. The code bit in my page looks like this:

Print head error message of U051

I am receiving an error message of "printer head not installed, Install printer head" on my MP520 . How is this handled?

To try and resolve the U051 error, we can remove and reseat the ink tanks and print head in the printer. To do this, please follow the steps displayed in the link below:

Next, please turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the back and leave it out for at least 10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it back on. If you still receive the same error, the printer will require servicing. Please Contact Us to obtain your servicing options.

in the portlet header.Should not remove portlet header.Link only to be removed.

Error Message when loggin on using indonesion language

when I log on into SAP CRM Webclient with language ID (Indonesian) I got a error message in the header (where normally the SAP Logo is) that says:

Was ist passiert ?
Der Aufruf der URL http://tst-cs.company.com:/sap/bc/bsp/sap/crmcmp_hdr/bspwdapplication.do wurde aufgrund eines Fehlers abgebrochen.
Why Indonesion is selectable in the log on page if later on this error appears? What I can do to fix that?

Custom error message for invalid date format

Hi,
I am using af:selectInputDate component for date. When i enter wrong date format it comes up follwoing pop up error message:
The value "12/13/2009" is not a valid date. Valid example ""29/11/2005".
However i dont want to show this standard message but a customised error message like "the value is not in correct format...".
Can anyone help me how can i show customised message.

1) Change your Internet Explorer [The Browser which you are using] language
2) In Application Level, ie in Webdynpro
a)Go to <Your project name>>Webdynpro>Applications--><Your Application>
Double click on your Application nameb) Go to Application Properties TAB, Add a New Application Property
c) Click on "Browse" and Select DefaultLocale and mention the Value as
en_US [If you didnt mention any thing here by default it will take browser's language]
3)In your Portal check the language setting of particular user in identity management
