Customise Generated File "Reference.cs"

We have the following setup. A VB6 application calls a .NET COM component
that acts mainly as a forwarding system calling methods on a web service.
When you open up the VB6 object browser and look at the methods exposed by
the .NET COM Component, you will also see the public methods exposed by the
WebService. I do not want the VB6 application to know about the WebService.
If I were to define the WebService public methods as ComVisible(false), then
they would not be exposed to the .NET COM Component. I can however, add this
attribute to the Web References\Reference.cs file present in the .NET COM
Project.
Is there a way to have the calling of "Update Web Reference" and "Add Web
Reference" to automatically add the ComVisible(false) attribute to each class
in the Reference.cs file generated?

There is no reference to the calibration file and we calibrate "on the fly", when the calibration method is "Point Distance Calibration" (Simple Calibration), because there is no learning associated with this method and the time it takes to calibrate the image with this method is instantaneous.
If you choose any of the other methods, the code generated will point to the calibration file saved, and the code generated will apply the calibration from the template file to the current image, without relearning it, for optimization purposes.
This was a design decision, and unfortunately, there is no workaround at this time for the simple calibration case.

  • Generated files and layout

    After generating automatic documents in Frame9 suchs as TOC, List of Figures and the like I have saved these as templates. Trying to import these formats into newly generated documents will not import the chapter and pagenumbers nor their layout even though these have been included on the reference pages. Adjusting these afterwards often does not affect position, style or layout. More concrete: the numbers in front of the titles are specified yet missing, the page numbers are directly behind the titles instead of at the configured tab stop. Moreover, titles are in Arial, while the pagenums having the same paragraph tag are times new roman. Something I cannot seem to change.  Why does Frame not import the settings from the template or respond to my adjustments after updating. Sometimes it only partly updates.
    Any help and ideas are welcome

    Ok that's what I thought when posing the question. Index and TOC are incompatible. To me they are simply generated files and if I configure the page numbers to be on the right in the Arial font in the TOC I expect these to be the same after importing formats into another generated file. I guess I need to change my train of thought.
    Yes, the're independent from each other. If you look on the TOC reference page, you'll find entries like:
    <$paratext>(tab character) <$pagenum>
    This entry is formatted using the assigned "TOC" paragraph style, e.g. if you're reading a paragraph style named "Heading1", this entry is formatted using the "Heading1TOC" paragraph style. If this style is set to Arial, the whole line (paragraph text and page number) will be formatted using the Arial font, as long as you don't use separate character styles for the placeholders (<$paratext> or <$pagenum>).
    Looking on the SIX reference page, there are other entries. You'll see e.g.
    Level1SIX (tab character)
    (tab character)<$pagenum>
    In this case the text entry is formatted using the "Level1SIX" paragraph format, and the page number is formatted using the "IndexSIX" format. These may specify different fonts. You see, there are completely different formats and "building blocks" which are used to create a TOC and an Index entry.

  • Generate file names randomly

    are there anyways to generate file names randomly? if there are, are there any reference codes i could refer to? thanks.
    heard that using random characters from ascii code (generating random numbers and translating them into chars) could do the job but i am rather new to it. can anybody advise me on how to go about it? thanks.

    There is a method called createTempFile in the java.io.File class for this purpose. I suggest you use that one.

  • A File Reference and its evolving life!

    Hi all,
    I've noticed something that came as a little bit of a surprise to me, but I think I have the explanation, at a hand-wavy higher level anyway.  What I have not established is if this is a 'bug' or a 'feature', and if there are any ways the following issue can be avoided at the NI function/api layer.
    Consider the file open and file close function.  You open a file, you use the reference to the file to write/read data, then at some point you close the reference and the close function spits out the file-path.  Here are a couple of tid-bits you may not be aware of (that are easy to test):
    Q1) After your application opens/creates a file and starts using the file-reference to make file writes, if an external source changes the file-name of that file... guess what will happen on your next write function call?
    A1::  The write successfully updates the newly re-named file with your new data without producing an error or a warning.  (At least this is the case if your program is running on a vxWorks cRIO target and the file-name is changed directly on the cRIO via an FTP browser.)
    Did this surprise you? It did surprise me!  -My handwavy explanation is that the file-pointer is perhaps managed/maintained by the OS, so when the OS tells the file-system to rename that file, the pointer that LabVIEW holds remains valid and the contents of the memory at the pointer location was updated by the OS.
    Q2) Continuing from the situation setup in Q1, after writing several new chunks of data to a file now currently named something completely different than when the file reference was originally created, you use the close function to close the file-reference.  What do you expect on the file-path output from the close function??  What do you actually get??
    A2::  The close function will 'happily' return the ORIGINAL file-name, not the actual file-name it has been successfully writing to(!).   This has some potentially significant ramifications on how/what you can use that output for.  At this point there is a ton of room for pontifications and more or less 'crazy' schemes for what one could do, but I argue that the bottom line is that your application has at that point completely lost the ability to accurately and securely track your file(s).  Yes, you could list a folder and try and 'figure out' if your file-name was re-named during writing and you can in various ways make more or less good 'guesses' on which file you in reality just had open, but you can never really know for sure.
    So, what do you guys think?? Is the behavior of returning the (incorrect) original file-path when you close the handle a BUG or a FEATURE??  Would it not be possible for LabVIEW to read back the data contained in the (OS?) pointer location and as needed update the file out path data when it closes a reference?  Should we not EXPECT that this would be the behavior?
    Q3)  Again, continuning from the above situation, lets assume we are back at the state in Q1, writing data to a (re)named file.  What happens if the file is deleted by an external process? What happens to the file reference? File function calls using the reference?
    A3::  This one is less surprising.  The file reference remains 'valid' (because it is a valid reference), but depending on the file function you are calling, you will get error such as error 6 (binary write reports this), or error 4 (a TDMS write will report this error), etc.  So as long as you don't rely on file ref-num tests to establish if you are good to go with a file-write or file-action, you should be safe to recover in an appropriate way.. Just don't forget to close the file-reference, even if the file is 'gone', the reference will still remain in memory until you 'close' it (with an error)(?I might be wrong about this last part?)
    I am not sure if the above is possible on e.g. Windows, Windows would probably prevent you from re-naming a file that has an open file-handle to it, but this is definitley observable on at least vxWorks cRIO targets.  (I don't have PharLap ETS or RTLinux devices so I can't test on those targets.. if you want to test its pretty straigth forward to make a simple test app for it.)
    [begin rant-mode related to why I found this out and why this behavior BITES]
    There are situations where the above situation could cause some rather annoying issues that, for somewhat contrived reasons related to cRIO file API performance, CPU and memory resource management, are non-trivial to work around.  for example, using the NI "list folder" to listing folders take a very hefty chunk of time at 100% cpu that you cannot break up, so polling/listing folders after every file update (or even on a less regular interval) is a big challenge, and if you are really unlucky (or didn't know any better) and gave the list command in a folder with 1000's of files (as opposed to less than about 100 files), the list will lock your CPU at 100% for 10's of seconds...  Therefore, you might be tempted to maintain your own look-up table of files so that your application can upload/push/transfer and/or delete files as dictated by your application specific conditions... except that only works until some prankster or well-intention person remotes in and starts changing file-names, because then your carefully maintained list of file-names/paths' suddenly fall appart.
    [\end rant]

    Hey guys, thanks for turning out your comments on this thread!
    -Deny Access : still able to re-name (and delete) the file via FTP browser (didn't test other file avenues).  I think this is for the same reason that NI vxWorks targets (such as cRIO-9014) do not support the concept of different users with different rights, as such, everyone have access rights to everything at the OS level.  Another issue for me would be that "Deny Access" does not work on TDMS file references, so even if it worked, it would not help me.
    --> I strongly suspect that these things are non-issues or issues that can be properly managed, on the new NI LinuxRT targets since (the ftp is disabled by default) it supports user accounts and user restrictions on files/folders.  The controller could simply create the files in a tree where 'nobody else' has write access.
    Obviously nobody should mess around with files on a (running) cRIO, but customers don't always do what they are supposed to do.
    As far as the 'resources' or overhead to update the file-refnum with the new information, this would not be needed to be done in a polling fashion, simply, when the file-close function is called, as part of that call it updates its internal register from the pointer data, so this should be a low overhead operation I would think?  If that is a true concern, a boolean input defaulting to not updating or a separate 'advanced close' could be created?
    I've included a zip with the LV2013 project and test VI's (one for tdms one for binary) that I've used. nothing fancy, but in the interest of full disclosure.  The snippet is the 'binary file' test vi, in case you just want a quick peak:
    Steve Bird's findings of (yet) another behavior on Pharlap systems is also very interesting, I think!!
    [EDIT]  JUST TO CLARIFY, on vxWorks, the re-named file keeps being successfully written to, unlike the PharLaps' empty file that Steve Bird found.

  • How Do RoboHelp 9 WebHelp Generated Files Handle Map IDs and Aliases?

    The text below was written by our team's developer/architect. I am the help author who uses RoboHelp to write content and generate the help files, but I am clueless how it all gets generated and is deployed. Please help. We use RoboHelp 9. I use it in Windows XP and our app and help run on IE 7, 9, and Firefox (multiple versions).
    "Our application uses the numeric identifiers associated with the Map ID. For example, to get to the <appname>_home_page.htm file, we use the number 1053. <appname> = pecs, in this example.
    All of this is used in a call to a RoboHelp method defined in the RoboHelp_CSH.js file. The mehtod we are calling is the RH_ShowHelp() JavaScript method and the code to perform the call, when you click on Page Help, is this:
    RH_ShowHelp(0, ''/pecsHelp/index.htm>pecsHelp',HH_HELP_CONTEXT,topic);
    Topic is translated to the Map ID number for the page help. HH_HELP_CONTEXT is defined in the RoboHelp_CSH.js file. This method translates into a URL and from what I have seen, the URL that gets generated is this:
    http://{server}[:port]/pecsHelp/index.htm/{server}[:port]/pecsHelp/index.htm#<id=1053>>pecsHelp
    Server and port get replaced with the appropriate values. I have no clue how id=1053 is supposed to get translated to mean "pecs_home_page.htm". If you check the PECS_help.h file, you will see the following entry:
    #define PECS_Home_Page1 1053
    Then in the RoboHelp alias file (PECS 3.0.ali), the following line is in the file:
    <alias name="PECS_Home_Page1" link="pecs_home_page.htm"> </alias>
    But both of these files are used during the WebHelp generation process and I don't know how the WebHelp generated files handle the Map ID and aliases."

    You need to assign the numbers you find in the pecs_help.h file to topics in your help. You do this in Context Sensitive Help > Map Files > All Map IDs. (From RH7, but I assume the location is similar in RH9.) This creates the entries in the .ali file.
    Peter Grainge suggests a couple of sites to read for a greater understanding here:
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/using_map_ids.htm
    (Although the second  site is based on RH X5, the basic concepts and procedures should be very similar. )

  • How can I create dynamic file references in Power Query?

    Hi all,
    I'm new at using PowerQuery, and so far I like it. There's one thing I am struggling with though... Once I have set up my PoweQuery connections, I don't find an easy way to change the file to which the query is connecting. I'm using it for a monthyl recurring
    process, and every month the source data to query on woudl be different. The same in format/structure, but just a different dataset.
    Is there a way to make the source setup more dynamic? Can I for example in a parameters sheet enter the name and path of the new source file and update the queries?
    Currently the Advanced editor shows me following file reference:
    let
        Source = Excel.Workbook(File.Contents("Z:\Templates\EMEA\Source Data Tables\EMEA_EW_Source_Data_for_Power_Queries v1.xlsm")),
    Thanks in advance for suggestions

    Yes, this is something that you can do with Power Query. Here's how you can do it:
    Create a table in Excel containing your parameter value. Let's say that it has one column, called ParameterValue, and one row.
    Create a new Power Query query that gets the data from this table. Call the query something like ParameterQuery.
    In your original query you will now be able to reference values from your parameter query by saying something like this:
    Source = Excel.Workbook(File.Contents(ParameterQuery[ParameterValue]{0})),

    Thank you very much !
    Indeed, I was unaware of the enormous number of options that can be selected when converting a WORD file to PDF.
    I went thru the settings and found the right one for embedding the fonts.

  • Generate file on F110

    Dear Friends,
                        Please help how to generate file from the
    F110 Automatic Program and f-58 Vendor Payment
    we had a requirment to generate file on documents posted on the these transactions generate file and send it to other addon system I will assign full points for your suggession.
    Regards
    Bharath

    HI,
    When configuring the payment methods for the country (transaction OBVCU), choose the payment medium program as RFFOM100.
    From se38, pls read the documentation for the program, which will give you the various options & the required config too.
    You would also need to configure the instructions keys as required.
    To generate the DME file, you have to run the automatic payment program with this payment method.
    After the payments have been successfully posted, you can go to DME administration and with the help of dme manager download files on your PC.
    SAP has determined that the standard print programs for automatic payments will no longer be supported, and will be replaced by transfer structures created by a tool called the DME Engine.
    This tool enables the business to create DME output files without ABAP development, and can be attached to a print program and form for the creation of Payment Advices.
    Outside of the DME Engine (DMEE), the majority of the configuration takes place within the following IMG menu path:
    IMG Path: Financial Accounting -> Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable -> Business Transactions -> Outgoing Payments -> Automatic Outgoing Payments -> Payment Media -> Make Settings for Payment Media Formats from Payment Medium Workbench
    Config
    Assign Selection Variants
    IMG -> Financial Accounting -> Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable -> Business Transactions -> Outgoing Payments -> Automatic Outgoing Payments -> Payment Media -> Make Settings for Payment Medium Formats from Payment Medium Workbench -> Create / Assign Selection Variants or transaction
    OBPM4..select your format that you are using
    Check in FBZP config that all is linked!
    Although this is bitty but you need to work through it!
    Start with FBZP, create all there than go to DMEE either to create your own format or use the standard ones.. than go to the menu path above and work through from create to assign...
    hope this is clear
    assign points.

  • How to use a ".generate" file in JDeveloper 11g ?

    hi
    Using JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.0.1) I created a Database Diagram and dropped both SCOTT.EMP and SCOTT.DEPT tables on it, creating Offline Database Objects.
    After that I used the "Generate..." option from the right-click menu on the SCOTT Offline Database Source in JDeveloper, to generate a SQL script.
    Step 6 of 6 allowed me to "Save settings for reuse", resulting in a ".generate" file (see GenerateSQLFromDatabaseObjectsStep6Of6.png).
    question
    How should I be able to reuse such a ".generate" file, the right-click menu does not have a "Generate" option (like JDeveloper 10g has) or something similar, see GenerateSQLRightClickMenuForGenerateFile.png.
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Thanks for your reply Susan.
    You were not able to access it via metalink as it was categorized as an internal bug rather than a production version bug. Since it has now been fixed it is unlikely that I can get it changed to allow it to be seen via metalink.about "unlikely", see also ...

  • Project File File References

    Does JDeveloper 9.0.4 use absolute or relative file references in its project (.jpr) files, or is it a mixture of the two? I've heard conflicting stories but have personally only ever seen relative references.

    Yes, I've tried this and have gotten a clean compile.  However, the .dll is associated with third party software intended to add controls to a form.  The form does not display in Designer though (extensive stack trace errors) which made me wonder
    whether there is a downside to this approach.

  • Filespaces in generated file names - unfortunate

    I'm trying to upload all the files generated by an export to directory. Many of the auto-generated file names use the name of a page (which is displayed in the navigation - so i don't want to remove the spaces).
    This creates files with blanks in the name, and most FTP implementations will choke on this.
    #1 - this should be fixed
    #2 - does anyone have a workaround for managing this?

    Spaces are not valid in web pages. If used, they have to be escaped with %20
    If you want to change the names of files before trying to use them with some web publishing program, this shell script might be of use. It changes spaces to _ makes upper case letters lower case, etc.
    #!/bin/bash
    # Pete keeps giving me photos with bad file names
    for i in *
    do
    OLDNAME="$i"
    NEWNAME=`echo "$i" | tr ' ' '_' | tr A-Z a-z | sed s/-/-/g`
    if [ "$NEWNAME" != "$OLDNAME" ]
    then
    TMPNAME="$i"_TMP
    echo ""
    mv -v -- "$OLDNAME" "$TMPNAME"
    mv -v -- "$TMPNAME" "$NEWNAME"
    fi
    done

  • BPM - Generate file when message is successful

    Hi,
    We have designed the BPM to update database system by using JDBC receiver adapter.
    Following are the steps in BPM :
    1. Send data to XI from R/3 system by using ABAP proxy
    2. Make Sync call to R/3 system to get details of the data sent by using ABAP Proxy
    3. Update Database system by using JDBC receiver adapter
    4. Make Sync call to SRM system to get details of the data sent by using ABAP Proxy
    5. Update Database system by using JDBC receiver adapter.
    Now I want to generate the file 'A' after step 3 if database is updated successfully and file 'B' after step 5 if database is updated successfully.
    Which steps I can use in BPM to generate files? Or is there any other alternative?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Sudhir,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I would make changes and see how it works.
