Customization of existing bean of VOImpl class

Hi Team,
We have a number of requirements, where we are facing a difficulty that we are not able to customize the bean classes or the VORowImpl or VOImpl Classes in fusion apps.
Requirement is something like, there is a existing logic written in bean, on button click,
Now we want to extend that logic, but I am not able to find any way to customize the existing bean or any java class, this is giving me less flexibility in fusion which we use to have in OAF.
Can you please provide some light here, if we are missing something on the side of the java.
Because in ADF, if java customization is hidden then 80% of the requirement comes from the customer, will not be feasible for us to deliver.
Which was anyway done in the OAF.
Please suggest.

There are two things you mentioned here:
1. Bean Code
2. VORowImpl code
For Bean Code yes there is no way to customize that. You cannot customize java in Fusion Apps. One of the solution would be to raise those requirements through Oracle Support. Product teams might suggest alternate options to customize such functionality via other artifacts where customization is allowed. If that is not possible then it would definitely be raised as an Enhancement Request.
For VORowImpl a lot of time they are in fact not the right place to hardcode any business logic. Declarative validations, adding transient and non transient attributes etc is already supported. A lot of developers get confused when they dont see VORowImpl not getting changed or unable to customize that manually being a java file. However, all the declarative changes on VOs which affects the VORowImpl are written in .xml.xml files and saved into MDS to be applied at the time of application startup.

Pass the name of a button into existing instance of a class from actionlist

I want to pass a name of a button from actionlistener that is associated with that button into existing instance of a class. I need to do so because I have array of buttons and I have set the name of the buttons as coordinates. Is there a way to do that?

My buttons are declared as JButton arrayOfButtons[][] = new JButton[numberOfRows][numberOfColumns];and I labeled them inside 2 for loops as:

Extending/Modifying VOImpl Class Methods

Hi All
In iExpense Module, there is one CreditCardsVO, which is already extended by a developer as BTCreditCardsVO
The standard CreditCardsVOImpl class has its contructor method, executeQuery, encodeCardNumber, etc methods.
My requirement is to modify the encodeCardNumber method ( This method masks the CreditCard Number with '****' , leaving just last 4 digits to display using substring function)
I need to modify this 4 digits to 9 digits.
This encodeCardNumber is called in executeQuery method. Also, this method is private type.
Extending standard VO is possible and usually SQLs are modified to add new columns.
Is it possible to modify/extend the methods of the standard VOImpl classes.

My Query would be, the ExecuteQuery would be calling super.executeQuery.
Does this refer back to Standard ExecuteQuery and then subsequent EncodeCardNumber.
Or is it, my concepts are not clear. And extending the Standard methods, would simply replace any call to the methods of the Standard class, with the ones extended in the Extended VOImpl

How to customize an existing OAF page from Oracle, change it and reload it

Hello all Oracle Developers,
I am having a question regarding to customization, basically I am going to follow a very simple example.
We have form: APXVDMVD and OAF web Page AP_APXVDMVD.
Applying all our custom code via forms personnalisation is piece of cake. However trying to apply the same code to OAF web Page AP_APXVDMVD
is a total back box for us.
The basic example seems like this: Suppose that in the Suppliers/Vendors Page we type the supplier name and then right after that we populate in consequence all the fields:
Taxpayer ID, Tax Registration Number, DUNS Number
We want to grab the OAF Web page from oracle apply the custom code in java code or whatever necessary to make it work and deploy it onto the server.
Is this achievable, if so how we can do it??? Can we grab the web page extend the classes that are necessary and deploy the solution. The demo provided from Oracle
is showing how to create pages from zero, however Oracle have not provided how to grab an existing applications page, put the code and the deploy it
Let me know any inputs, whatever you did and surely we will be sharing the same stuff all migration R12 long :-)

You can extend OA framework pages and customize them. There is also a section for customizations in the OA Framework Developer's guide. IF this requires extensive customizations, Iwould advice to be very careful as any extensions should not interfere with the base logic of the pages. Please post here if you need more details.

Question about main difference between Java bean and Java class in JSP

I am new to Java Bean and wonder what is the main difference to use a Bean or an Object in the jsp. I have search on the forum and find some post also asking the question but still answer my doubt. Indeed, what is the real advantage of using bean in jsp.
Let me give an example to illustrate my question:

Now my question is what is the difference between the two method? As in my mind, a normal class can also have it setter and getter methods for its properties. But someone may say that, there is a scope="session", which can be declared in an normal object. It may be a point but it can be easily solved but putting the object in session by "session.setAttribute("cart", cart)".
I have been searching on this issue on the internet for a long time and most of them just say someting like "persistance of state", "bean follow some conventions of naming", "bean must implement ser" and so on. All of above can be solved by other means, for example, a normal class can also follow the convention. I am really get confused with it, and really want to know what is the main point(s) of using the java bean.

...Sure you could. And if the Cart was in a package (it has to be) you also need to put an import statement in. It also allows you to use your objects in more varied cases - for example, JSTL (the standard tag libraries) and EL (expression language) only work with JavaBeans (objects that follow the JavaBeans conventions) because they expect objects to have the no-arg constuctor, and properties accessed/changed via getXXX and setXXX methods.

Customize MWA and WMA standard Java Classes

Are there any guidelines/white papers, if you want to add customizations in Java to eBS modules? In our project, customizations are needed for the eBS WMA (Warehouse Management) and MWA (Mobile Supply Chain Applications) modules.

Oracle have certainly not made it easy to customise MWA pages. However it can be done with a little understanding of the architecture. Sadly I've not found any documentation, but I've decompiled most of it and gone through it all manually.
The biggest issue is that all the pages have hard coded paths. So for an LOV, it will refer to oracle.apps.wms.td.server.PickLoadPage.INV.ITEM. So if you extend this class (eg: xxx.oracle.apps.wms.td.server.PickLoadPage) then the LOV won't work. So you need to change the LOV field beans to point to the custom class. Also buttons have these, when linking to other pages, etc.. Also the field listener (FListener) class will sometimes set the path, so your changes will be overwritten. In these cases you need to add your own FListener to the standard fields and change them back. Crazy I know!
Basically if you want to customise the pages mentioned, you need to:
- First trace the class back to the Function that calls it. This will point to a Function class.
- Create your own Function class that points to your own Page class.
- Create your own Page class that extends the standard Page class.
- In your custom Page class, init the super class then go through all the field beans and ensure their LOV parameters point to your custom page class. Same for buttons
- Create an FListener class and add it to all the fields/buttons on the standard (and custom) page. This will allow you to change things on field entry/exit as needed.
I think in your case, the PickLoadPage is called from another page class, so you'll need to customise that one as well in order for it to link to you custom one.

How to delete the committed row from a table from its VOImpl class ??

I am new to ADF and I have problem to solve. To perform roll back I am using fetching key before roll back and setting it after undo operation, so that I can stay back in the currently selected row. But in my case I am using application model commit for one LOV attribute selection in the row. So when ever I am performing roll back operation after inserting a row, the values other than this committed LOV attribute gets roll backed, but I need remove the entire row from table. Does there any option to remove a row based on the attribute values of a row from VO's row implementation or from bean class in a performance optimized way ?

Entity bean with another class as primary key generator class

I have a CMP entity bean in which I generate the primary key using my own class know as unique id generator.
I use it in ejbCreate method in the following manner

Two Beans of same Class - using in JSP with same name

I want to do something like this:

This, of course, works. But the problem comes when calling the methods. Usually I would use
<%= userBean.getName() %> - but in this case I don't know whether the bean I have is userBean or adminBean, and there doesn't seem to be a way to call them something other than their id in the session, so that I could get a variable name assigned to both, so I can just refer to a single object.
Any ideas?

You'd probably have to have another "fake" bean that references the bean you're using:

StreamCorruptedException from Stateless Session bean to java class

Hi all,
We have 2 servers, a ColdFusion App server which contains suns jdk 1.4.2 and websphere appserver using Ibm jdk, 1.4.2. On Server 1, we have a standalone java class which does a stateless session bean lookup and requests a service from it. On server 2(websphere), we have a stateless session bean deployed which connects to a database using a jndi lookup, executes a query and returns back a CachedRowSet object (which populates the ResultSet from the above query.) In some cases, session bean returns back an array of objects or String objects or just plain int values.
When the java class on server 1 invokes the methods returning CachedRowSet, we are getting a StreamCorruptedException, whereas on the server side, there is no exception. everything gets executed fine on websphere. This is the case only for CachedRowSet and not for other return types(as mentioned earlier the session bean returns an array of object in some cases which the java class on server 1 is successfully able to use).

Again, everything seems to work fine on websphere server.
Any Clue of why this is happening?

Sorry for the confusion!
The solution mentioned above is not the right solution.
The above given code works fine irrespective of having corbaloc in the url, if you are working in the IBMs jvm.
It fails if you are working in suns jvm.
Anyone with any idea whats missing here.

Customize faces managed bean loading in ADF ( in JDev 11.1.2.1)

Hi there,
I am trying to use Spring with ADF. The intention is to use Spring context managed beans to use as backing beans in ADF.
I created a simple bean class. Created Data control based on it and tried to look at factoryClass, which is responsible for instantiating the bean class, oracle.adf.model.adapter.DataControlFactoryImpl.
Where in ADF it creates the instances of backing beans? What is the best approach to solve this puzzle?

I don't think your version of Jdeveloper supports CDI beans. It is my understanding that CDI beans will be supported next year in Jdeveloper.
So for now, if you are using Jdeveloper, you are stuck with only JSF managed beans that need to go in the faces-config.xml files or managed beans annotations .....

I have a requirement, where i need to customize the way of look the email customer agent console is displaying the customer results in ebs suite. I need to get some more values from DB and need to modify the iemsa_customerdetailincl.jsp and also the default query is located in IHSearch.class file which is located in COMMON_TOP/oracle/apps/iem/solo/customer and these resultset is assigned to IHBean.class and we are accessing the IHBean and iterating thru the vector and using IHBean to display the results on the page.
And also can you let me know where can i get the username from like ServletSessionManager or SessionManager classes. Please let me know how do i need to extend or customize the IHSearch and IHBean classes for the customization of jsps.

Reading two beans into one class?

I am trying to deserialize a bean from a database (Oracle blob). I need help in introducing some flexibility, meaning that I can store objects of the same class but different versions, and I can cast them into just one class when I read them back.
For example, initially I wrote an Employee object into the DB, and I had a local Employee class.

}Later, you might want to add a new field 'payRise' to the class, and use the new corresponding getPayRise() and setPayRise().
In the DB, you still want to have both objects from both versions of the same class. Is there a way to still read the old object using the new Employee class? (so now we can read both versions) Currently I'm still having the InvalidClassException (serialVersionUID difference) even after manually setting the serialVersionUID . Please help.

Serialization does not work for different versions of classes.
You must use XMLEncoder to write the object to DB, and then later can retrieve with XMLDecoder.
It will create an XML representation of your class depending only on your public apis, and works for different versions of the classes/objects.

Struts 2: Doesn't populate an array of java beans in action classes

Currently i am working on Struts 2 based application, in which i need to populate an array of Java beans from the form.
The problem, I am facing is:
Struts 2 is not instantiating an array of beans
I have gone through the Data transfer and Type Conversion of struts of 1.2, but every where I can see only following:
1 An array of primitive data types
2 List of primitive / Java bean
3 Map of primitive / Java bean
but i can't see the docs on An array of Java Beans.
What I can't do in my application is:
1 Can not convert an array of beans into java.util.List<beans>
2 Can not instantiate the bean array (As the number of elements will be decided by the front end - form)

I am having the same issue. It appears that the RequestProcessor.processValidate adds the errors (ActionMessages) to the request the does a forward. As such the errors are not available to the jsp page. Does any one know a way to get round this?
