Customize Background of parameter form
Can I customize the background of paper parameter form ? e.g Use blue color instead of the default grey, or even insert a .gif as the background?
If you're running client-server then you can create a rectangle as the background for the parameter form and place everything on top of it. (Likewise, you can import an image and add the fields on top of it).
However, if you're running across the web, the generated HTML will not support the rectangle or image in this way - since HTML doesn't support overlapping objects. To get around this, you can re-place the default "before form escape" property against the report to create a table with a background color or image.

Customizing Runtime Parameter Form
Hi
I'm using Portal Release2. Here is my problem I want the customize the Runtime Parameter Form but I can't seem to do it. A simple test case is needed:
1) I've created a report definition file access through portal and successfully run the report.
2) I've copied the run link which is something like -
PORTAL_DEMO.TEST_REPORT.show_tabpage
3) I've created a dynamic link such as -
http://abc.def.com:7778/pls/portal/PORTAL_DEMO.TEST_REPORT.show_tabpage
4) when a user clicks that link the page shown is a default Oracle Report Portlet parameter form even though I've changed the parameter form template.
could someone provide a solution to this issue. By the way I've been reading an old version of portal and you can do it in release1 but no reference is available in release2.
see section 5.14.1 Deploying a Report to an Oracle Portal Content Area
http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/1021doc_otn/busint.102/a86784/pbr_sec.htm#1033196Hi George
After you register a RDF component, at the end of registration wizard, you need to go to Customize link and check out the fields you wish to display in Parameter form. After this, you need to click on Save Paramater button, which would save your changes.
Now you can put this RDf component to the content area /page and publish the link to this content area / page to users and they would be able to see your customize param form.

Problem in reports6i parameter form customization
I am calling report developed under reports6i using rwservlet from j2ee web application. I was able to successfully customize the parameter form internal to report using Report Escapes properties, Before Form value and After Form value. I am using header.htm and footer.htm to render header and footer related html. I am able to use style sheet file also. Everything is working fine with this file. But when I try to repeat the same changes to another report (rdf), it is not taking the changes. No matter what I do, report is taking the settings from parameter form builder tool. When I run the report outside of web ie., from report builder, it is showing the parameter fields and labels I have made changes to, but when I run as web report it is taking the parameter fields and labels that report builder tool has. I am frustrated and do not understand, everything working fine with one report is not working with the other. Is that a bug? or am I missing something? Please help. I really appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance,
RajuThanks Philipp for the response. Yes I verified whether server picking the changes. That's how I found its only picking from the parameter form builder. Whatever changes I made to the actual parameter form I was not seeing. But I was seeing whatever changes I made in the parameter form builder. I do not want to use parameter form builder wizard. It's kind of weird and that's why I do not see logic behind what's going on? I am wondering is it a bug in the reports developer tool. I am using oracle reports6i (Report Builder 6.0.8.11.3).
Thanks,

Calling a report from another report in after parameter form
hi,
I'm calling Emp.rdf report with deptno as parameter and if the parameter is '10' then i have to call dept.rdf
function AfterPForm return boolean is
begin
if :p_deptno =10 then
srw.run_report('report=c:\reports\dept.rdf destype=screen p_deptno='||:p_deptno);
end if;
return (TRUE);
end;
But, now i'm getting an error as
REP-1428: afterpform': Error while running SRW.RUN_REPORT
Could you please help on this. thanks BcjHi , I have tried destype=file , didn't work for me. same time i tried with background=yes , that time report crashed.
Actualy what i'm trying to do is,
whenever the main report received an incorrect user input , i have to run a different report based on that particular input value and to show the users the actual input values.
so the coding would be like this in the after parameter form,
BEGIN
IF :P_ID between 1000 and 5000 then
--here i'm only changing the paramter value ,
ELSE
--here i'm calling the new report
srw.run_report('report=c:\reports\emp.rdf batch=yes destype=file desname c:\reports\id.txt background=yes p_new_id='|| :p_id);
return(true);
END;

How to Change the display format of Parameter form in HTML
I have created a parameter form to allow user to choose the parameter values before printing the report. The parameter which will display in the web-browser has its own predefined format. How am i going to change this format? eg. changing the Background color, table background color, put in some pictures, set the alignment of the text and fields....
Now I am able to change the header and footer. I can put in the company logo in the header by changing the report escape - Before form value and the footer in the report escape - after form value. How about the body which all the boilet text and fields will be display here? I need to change the alignment, the table background color and the text style and format also... where should i change this?
ThanksReports only provides limited formatting for the parameter form. In your case, you seem to need to take over greater control of the parameter form and you're halfway there.
You've noted that you can control the header & footer values, what you need to do is extend those escapes to render the complete parameter form and remove everything from the actual reports parameter form. ie: Remove the labels/parameter form fields and render these directly in the HTML in the before parameter HTML escape. This allows you to insert any HTML you want - you probably want to start with the Reports generated HTML and move it into Frontpage to edit to your required format.
What you are doing in this case is still using Reports url/submit mechanism and parameter form validation but bypassing Reports rendering of the parameter form. -
How do you display a parameter form built from a report?
Does anyone know how to display the parameter form from building a customized report, as a portlet on a page? Everytime I try, I get the report, which will return no records because it does not first ask for the query parameters.
thanks!
nullYou don;t select Run to Run the report with
parameters - you select the Customize option.

Using a Simple Parameter Form Portlet with a Report Portlet to Search DB
My organization registers clients for workshops in iLearning.We use iPortal for our web site. I would like to use a Simple Parameter Form Portlet for clients to conduct a search on the data that is in iLearning and have it displayed in a Report Portlet on a separate page. I have been able to bring the iLearning data into the Report Portlet but I have not been successful in setting up the Simple Parameter Form Portlet to do a search on the data and then have it displayed. Any suggestions.
hi,
i just tested this in portal 10.1.4 and it works fine. you can fire an event and pass a parameter from a simple parameter form portlet and consume this page parameter in a portlet builder reports component. there is some documented behavior in bug 3321558 that has to do with personaliziation (customization in older releases). if you enter some personalization the page parameter gets ignored. for more information on this please contact oracle support services.

Customizable appearance for muse forms
can you add the ability to customize the look and feel of muse forms as right now they can only be transparent so site on top of whatever background colour you have whereas it would be nice to see text colour background colouron the form and text and background colours on the fields and submit buttons.
From the official help page - http://www.adobekb.com/adding_contact_forms.html
If you want to create and style forms with Muse and then upload your site to a different web hosting service, the forms will display as you designed them, but they will not function. If you have experience working with code, you can use Muse to export your site and then open the files in an HTML editor. Update the source code of the form to make it compatible with the form processing technology used by your hosting provider before you upload the files to their server.

After Parameter Form issue - Oracle Reports 10g
Hi All,
I have compiled an .rdf report to an .rep file and when
I run this file I get the "REP-1247: Report contains uncompiled PL/SQL" message.
The issue is I have built the report with dynamic XML customizations in the after parameter form trigger. When I remove this piece of code from the trigger both files .rdf and .rep works fine.
Notice that the .rdf file works fine with the after parameter form XML customization.
Please, can enyone advice me how can I have a .rep file that contains dynamic XML customization (using the srw.add_definition).
Thank you in advance.In Your code there is a line:
add_parameter(pl_id,'PARAMFORM',text_PARAMETER,'NO');
which actually disables the report parameter form.
The line:
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'|| vjob_id||
'?server=rep_mohahubkpcomp_ORaHOme_IAS'||'&userid=
bedman/bedman@bedman'||'¶mform=yes','_blank');
displays the report to which vjob_id refers. At this point the report is competed so the parameters userid and paramform are useless.
Hope this helps.

Null value in parameter form.
In parameter form I want to leave blank option in order to print a report for all the values in the parameter form. I am writing the query for the parameter LOV that it fetches the values and making a union with 'select to_char(null) from dual.
I am getting a blank and the required output when the report is run using the report builder but the this blank space or null value disappears when the report is run on application server 10g. It seems to be a small problem but I am not able to get a solution for this. Please, suggest something.Hi,
Instead of a Null, why not use '-ALL-',
union all
select '-ALL-'
from dualthen in your query, you will have,
where column_1 = decode(:param1, '-ALL-', column_1, :param1) that way it will be more clearer for the users that if they picked '-ALL-' in the LOV that they will get all records and will eliminate the problem you are having with null when you deploy your report in application server.

Null values not displaying in the LOV on the parameter form.
My report works perfect while in Oracle Reports 10g, however when I move it to our menu (Oracle Forms 10g) it does not display the null in the LOV on the parameter form.
This report allows the the user to select by inspector or district or everyone for certain dates.
Ex: I have 4 parameter fields. The user must enter the start & end dates and either the Inspector or the district or leave the inspector or district null to run for everyone.
The district LOV is :
select dnr_section_code, description from dnr_section_code where dnr_section_code in ('29', '38','52')
UNION
select null, 'All' from dual
order by 2 asc ;
The inspector LOV is:
select null , 'All' from dual
UNION
select person_seq, first_name||' '||last_name inspector from vw_eng_inspectors
order by 2 asc
In my Data Model query I use the :
My select
from tables
where clause
+
----by inspector
and (prod_fac_inspections.person_seq_inspector =
nvl(:inspector,prod_fac_inspections.person_seq_inspector))
---by district
and
(d.dnr_section_code = nvl(:district,d.dnr_section_code)
and d.person_seq = prod_fac_inspections.person_seq_inspector)
Again, it works perfect in Reports! It eliminates having 3 reports on the menu. This one report gives the user the option of selecting dynamic parameters.
Also, I got so frustrated, that I went a different route of using a default where.
I am stuck with the error of ORA:00933 SQL command not ended properly
1=1
I set the initial value to 1=1 and it does not like it.
I am stuck!
DB = Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0Hi Krishna,
I'm not sure I understand the probelm.
A progress bar control only displays numeric values. When do you mean by "unassigned values"? What would you expect to be presented?

Parameters that do not show up on default parameter form
Reports upgraded to 6/6i from SQL*ReportWriter/Oracle Reports 2.5 contain parameters that both do and do not show up on the default parameter form.
Is there any property that can be set in the Object Navigator to disable or enable a parameter on the default parameter form. I know I can create a parameter form and specify which parameters are on it, but user created parameter forms look a bit different from the default parameter form in character mode.
nullYou can read "Selecting parameters to include in the Runtime Parameter Form" topic in the Reports on-line help.
I hope this will help you.

I am unable to get order by column name in oracle report parameter form
i created query like following in query builder
SELECT CASE_NO, COURT_ID, CASE_TYPE,
INITCAP(PLAINTIFF) PLAINTIFF,INITCAP( DEFENDENT) DEFENDENT,
INITCAP(COUNSEL) COUNSEL, START_DATE, PREVIOUS_HEARING_DATE,
NEXT_HEARING_DATE,INITCAP( DESCRIPTION) DESCRIPTION,
INITCAP(RELIEF) RELIEF,INITCAP(EXTENT) EXTENT,
DECREE_DATE,INITCAP(STATUS) STATUS,INITCAP( LOCATION) LOCATION,
LEGAL_FILE_NO, MSNO
FROM L_CASE_MASTER_MAIN
WHERE to_char(NEXT_HEARING_DATE,'DD-MON-YYYY')=:P_NHD ORDER BY :P_COL
and i created parameter form for these two bind variables :P_NHD,:P_COL
in,:P_COL i wrote lov as Select trim(COLUMN_NAME) from user_tab_columns where table_name='L_CASE_MASTER_MAIN' to get all the columns.
in parameter form i am able to get all the columns but when i am generating report it is not giving results as per my ordered column.
kindly let me know the solution
Report Version :Oracle Reports 11g
Db Version:Oracle 11gHi,
Ordering the column first takes place from the Data Model Itself.
Please Check your column ordering in the report data model. If it is not ordered in a right way then Rearrange it.
Remove your order by in query...
If any issues... let me know

Parameter form using LOV based on SQL to pass param to Discoverer portlet
Hi all
I have a design issue:-
I want to create a parameter form in Oracle Portal to allow users to select the department using searchable LOV (like the torch that is there in various oracle products) and pass the selected parameter to the Oracle Discoverer worksheet portlet. The LOV values is required to come from a SQL query which in turn is dependent on User_name varia ble from the session.
I am looking for any out of the box portlet which can be configured to achieve the same. Any help or pointers in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
