Customize the icon

Does anybody know how to customize the icon on JFrame? The default icon is the Java cup on the upper left corner of the
JFrame. I want to change it into my own icon.
Any suggestion would be appreciated

Hi dhah,
Use the setImageIcon(Image img) of java.awt.Frame to set your icon in the titlebar.
Example:
If you are using a Properties file, you have to do like this:
setIconImage(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(properties.getProperty("ICON_IMAGEFILE")));
I hope this will help you out.

  • Can I customize the icon of iCal??

Hi, i´m a new user of Tiger X , I wonder if i can edit the icon of the iCal to change the Jul 17 to the real day for example "Oct 28" and tomorrow automatic update to "Oct 29"
    It´s possible that?? ....

    I don't think you can change it, you would have to change it everyday...but;
If you right click, (control+click) on iCal and chose Open at login it will then show the current day. After this, close it out by hitting the red X in the upper window..(this will keep the program open, but minimized, as opposed to quitting).
As long as you keep the program running in the background, it will update the day automatically.

  • How do  I change the icons?

I would like to customize the icons on my desktop. is this possible?

There are several good utilities out there for creating your own custom icons. You can download sets of them from the download page. All you have to do is do a Get Info on the item with the Icon you want to copy, click on the icon at the top of the info window, copy (cmd-c), get info on the item where you want the new icon installed, select its icon, then paste (cmd-v). Note that if the target item already has a custom icon, the new icon may not paste in properly. The solution is to select the icon in the info window of the destination item, press delete, then paste the new icon.

  • When i customize my toolbar and close, the icons are not in the places i put them. how do i make my toolbar set up stay in place?

below file/edit/view/history/bookmarks/tools/help menu line, on second line I have added icons for print, reopen closed tab, session manager, (xmarks)synchronize now, my xmarks, home, duckduckgo, woolik search, stumbleupon, you tube, do not track me, mask me, better privacy, https addon, zoom out zoom in, back forward, private browsing toggle. on the third line i have added icons for gmail-open in a new tab, gmail checker, gmail notifier, last pass and the address bar. there are 2 to 4 separator lines between the icons, grouping like icons, i.e., security, search engines, gmail, etc. each time i close Firefox and then reopen, the icons are no longer in the order i placed them, with separators, or they are not visible and i have to r.click. select "customize," and re-drag and drop the icons and separators where i want them. i am a very, very beginner at this all, but drag and drop i know. why don't the icons/seperators stay in place??

  • The icons in the bookmark tool bar are blank and the text that use to be below the icon is gone. I now have to cursor over the blank icons to see the text and the one I want. Can the icon/text customization be returned?

In the Navigation Toolbar, the icons "Back", "Forward" etc. show the small icon and the descriptive text below the Icon. My Bookmark Toolbar use to have the same icon/text format but at some point, possibly a browser update, that changed. Currently, I do have a visible Bookmark Toolbar BUT the icons do not show the website icon, as previously, and the text below each icon is gone. I an cursor over each icon and the text becomes visible next to the icon. This is a bit of a pain to find a bookmark. Can I do a customization to return to the icon/text format.
Was this changed because browser users requested this option, or was it an internal decision.? If the later why make such changes when not requested?
    Ed Sander

That wasn't a change in Firefox. It sounds like something is broken in your Firefox installation, or you are misunderstanding the different between the Bookmarks Toolbar and the other Toolbars.
In the Bookmarks Toolbar the text appears next to the website icon, not below the icon as with the other two Toolbars, and it's not switchable between text and no text as with the other Toolbars. With both the bookmark icon and the Bookmark name missing, something is broken in your installation. You need to do a little troubleshooting.
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />
    [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode] <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
If not, see this: <br />
    [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes]
If your problem isn't related to an extension, your bookmarks data base file (places.sqlite) is probably corrupt. <br />
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite <br />
Be aware that if you delete the "places.sqlite" and similar files, your bookmark website icons won't automatically appear (the JSON backups don't have that icon data) when you restart Firefox and the places.sqlite is rebuilt using the backup data file, but the icons should be saved the first time each bookmark is used for the first time.

  • How do I customize the "Navigation Tool Bar" by adding the print ICON so that the ICON will remain when I close the browser?

I have tried SEVERAL times to customize the "Navigation Tool Bar" by adding the print ICON. Every time I do this it works until I close the browser then I have to re-add the ICON the next time I open the browser. How do I make the ICON stay from session to session?

    See [[toolbar keeps resetting]].

  • I cannot customize Bookmarks Toolbar (Mac OS 10.x, Firefox 10.x) so that only the icons show.

At some point when I upgraded Firefox (probably to 10.x) I lost the ability to customize the Bookmarks Toolbar so that only the icons appear on the toolbar. I can customize to show text only, text and icons, but not icons only.

    Hi H2OVixen,
Can you please describe how you are applying the update? What is strange is that the profiles and bookmarks are still there after the update.
If you are updating Firefox it would automatically import the profile that it has. However, if there are multiple profiles on the machine, it will pull the default profile. What may be interesting to see if is the profile manager still has all the profiles after the update, as it should ideally.[[Using Multiple Profiles]] Though you did mention that this does not happen to local libraries. I think this may be the issue you are really describing: NAS profiles are not seen after an update, is this correct?
Is it possible to see the profile on the NAS after the update if you open the Profile Manager on launch?
    Cheers

  • I used to be able to change the icon display in the Customize section.

At the bottom of the display for icons you could move to the toolbars, there was an option to display the icons only or icons and text. Where is that in version 29? Also, where is the Reload button?

The option for '''icons only or icons and text''' was removed from Firefox 29. <br />The '''Reload''' button is in the Address bar, on the extreme right end (the default location for many years). Sorry, that can't be moved out of that "container" any longer.
There are a few extensions available for a "retro" look, but I'm not a fan of using that type of extension. I'll leave that to other support helpers to tell you about them.

  • I need to customize the menu bar - remove some icons, add some

I would like to customize the menu toolbar, not just hide / unhide it. How can I do that - View, Toolbars, Customize does NOT give me access to adjust the menu bar. Is there an add on I can use?

If you want to make changes to the menu part then see:

  • How can I separate the "Icons and Text" of the browser control buttons (Back, Forward, etc.) from the Icons on the Add-on toolbar?

At home, this is not an issue. I don't know why it's different here at work--same installation, same settings (as far as I can tell).
    Windows Vista
    Firefox 7.0.1
Status-4-Evar installed to turn add-on bar into a status bar
I have a NoScript add-on icon in the corner, which works fine. If I add a GreaseMonkey icon from the Customize menu, the "Icon and Text" appears for that icon, like the Icon and Text from the browser controls (Home, stop, etc). Other add-on icons also show Icon and Text (S4E, for instance). NoScript is the only one I've found so far which collapses down to just an Icon.
This leads to the status (add-on) bar having a much larger height than I like. Essentially what I want is for only the Icon to appear in the Status bar (Add-on toolbar), while keeping Icons and Text in the Browser controls. My current workaround is simply removing the other add-on icons from the status (add-on) toolbar, but that takes away the ease of toggling and setting options.
Please tell me if I can provide you with anything else, and thanks for your help.
Edit: I've got some screenshots to show what I mean.

[http://i43.tinypic.com/1z6a4h3.jpg problem when icon is added]

Surely there must be some UserChrome.css that will solve this problem. Something like this:
/* Remove text titles for icons in add-on bar */
    addonbar .button-text {
    visibility: collapse !important;
Unfortunately that does not work. I probably have the button text item name wrong (there is a pound sign before addonbar but it doesn't show in this posting).

  • Downloadhelper just stopped working and I can no longer get the icon to load into the tool bar.

I downloaded the add on Downloadhelper and it worked for many video captures and then stopped. I reinstalled it but the icon will not load into the toolbar or the tools under View -> Toolbars -> Customize. I have gone through the troubleshooting guides and everything seems to be enabled properly. At the same time Firefox stopped allowing me to open more than one Firefox screen.

Contact the carrier and ask them what is going on.

  • The icons for the Personas Plus and Video Download Helper extensions are not displaying on a fresh install of Firefox 3.6.12

I had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of my up-t0-date Firefox due to another problem (it would only open one window), but after reinstalling my extensions, their icons were not displaying.
I uninstalled and reinstalled again, but the Personas Plus fox will not display in the status bar, and the Video Download Helper icon will not display in the Navigation toolbar, and is not available in the Customize Toolbars menu.
These extensions worked fine before. What's wrong now?

You need to set options in those add-ons and/or use Customize Toolbars. Always look at instructions on each add-on's page at https://addons.mozilla.org/ ,
-search for and locate the add-on,
-open the page for that add-on,
    -review the information there,
-then visit and bookmark the developer's home page shown on the add-on page; many add-on developers also have a forum for questions, so look for a link on the developer's home page.
Most questions can be answered in one of those places.
<u>'''ABP'''</u>: Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, locate and click on ABP, click Options, in ABP interface, click on Options tab, if no check mark at "Show in toolbar" or "Show in status bar", you can click on each of those items to place a check mark and they will show in one or both places. On the add-ons page https://addons.mozilla.org/ visit and bookmark the developer's home page and forum.
    <u>'''NoScript'''</u>
'''''For the toolbar''''': scroll down on the following to the paragraph in the first section beginning with "A set of toolbar buttons is also provided:" and read that section: http://noscript.net/features#basics . It gives instructions on using the Customize Toolbar function to place the icon on your toolbar. Also see:
''' [[Back and forward or other toolbar buttons are missing]]'''
    '''[[Navigation Toolbar items]]'''
'''[http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar How to customize the toolbar]'''
'''''For the Status Bar''''': Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, locate and click on NoScript, click Options, click Advanced tab, check your preferences; see 4th image on: http://noscript.net/screenshots
<u>'''IE Tab 2'''</u>: Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, locate and click on IE Tab 2, look under "Image Gallery", 3rd row, 1st image: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/92382/ . Unfortunately, this developer has moved his home page and not updated the add-ons page. I use IE Tab Plus (formerly Coral IE Tab).

  • How to change the order of the icons in the dock with Lion?

    Hello
since I've installed Lion on my Mac I cannot change the order of the icons used for quick launch.
Any idea how I customize the order of the icons?
    Thanks

I suspect you'd get a very prompt reply in the Lion forum:

  • How do I change desktop folder/safari pictures to registered business icons, I have tried almost every how to  on-line but none are worki?  I have treing. First how do I get the icon I need from the website and then what?

How do I change Mac desktop folder/safari pictures to registered business icons? I have tried almost everythin but none are working.  First how do I capture the business icon from the website, then what?

OK, well to start with, you must have the icon file in the correct format. You need to end up with an .icns file. One of the how-to articles should tell you how to do this - iConvert will also do it.
If it is in the correct format, when you click the icon file to highlight it, and click cmd-i, you will see the Get Info window - at the top left, you should see a mini version of the icon. If you do NOT see that icon correctly, the file is not the correct format. So this will not work for a jpg or png file, for example.
Once you have this window open, go to the thumbnail, click it to highlight it blue, and click cmd-C to copy.
Go to your Safari app from the Applications folder (not from the dock), again click cmd-i to open its Get Info window, and again click its icon to highlight it blue. Now click cmd-V to paste. You will be asked for your admin password to authenticate. The icon should now become the one you've pasted in.
You may need to log out and back in for the effect to show on the application file itself.
You might also want to look into Candybar if you plan on doing a lot of icon customization.

  • How am I supposed to open a new tab when the "+" icon has been removed?

The icon I used to use to open new tabs has disappeared since the last Firefox update. I cannot find a menu, button, icon or anything to open a new tab anymore. How am I supposed to open a tab?
p.s. If you want to change things people use regularly, make finding the new option intuitive for users. Users are not mind readers. If we can't see it, we can't find it.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
    *"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
*View > Toolbars<br>Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
    *Right-click empty toolbar area
Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*"3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
*check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the <b>Restore Defaults</b> button to restore the default toolbar setup
