Cut and Paste code

I would like to add a second header immediately below
"header1" in one of the Dreaweaver CSS templates (and resize it to
fit my needs later).
Not being a pro in code, it seems to me that the simple
solution should be to go into the the Split view (design and code),
double-click on the <div#header>, and copy and paste the
hi-lighted code. But nothing happens.
Am I missing something? This is a timely issue, can somebody
out there help me?

Your method should work fine, but you need to be aware that
the same ID
attribute cannot be present on more than one page element for
any given
page, so, you would not only need to modify the ID of the
pasted container,
but you would likely also need to add a new selector to the
rule for the
original container, e.g.,
<div id="header">...
<div id="header2">...
and
#header, #header2 { ... }
or
#header { ... }
#header2 { ... }

    I have used one of the Dreaweaver CSS templates and would

    Yes you can copy the code to create two headers - but then
    you will
    have two divs with the same id - and that is not allow - you
    will need
    to change one or both to be a class.
    As far as I know - double clicking on <div#header> does
    much ??
    I click on the tag selector for <div#header>
    The code background becomes blue
    right click on that highlighted code
    select 'copy'
    move cursor up to between
    <div id="container"> Here
    <div id="header">
    then paste
    ~Malcolm~*...

  • Don't Cut-and-Paste "unlock code"!

    After getting the unlock code via email I tried numerous times to cut and paste it into the Unlock Code field provided but the "Unlock Now" box remained greyed out, leaving only the "Edit Without Registration" button available. Frustrating.
    Solution: Don't copy-and-paste the code. Type it in. The "Unlock Now" button will no longer be greyed out, and you can complete the process. At least that worked for me.

    Hi:
    That exactly what I have. I type textually from the e-mail sent by Adobe, all in caps lock on, as included instructions say, but nothing: no "Unlock now" available.
    What else can I do?

    Which advice didn't I follow?1) How to write a simple SSCCE.
    Again why do you have a custom TableModel? It is not required for the SSCCE and in fact is not required for your real program.
    Why is KeyListener code included. It has notthing to do with your question.
    2) I also suggested you add the mouse listener to the text area. Well, the text area is defined in the popup dialog, not the editor in my original SSCCE. So why have you made the code so complex by defining a second text area?
    I did look at your sample program (the table with pop-up menu appearing on right-click) That was only a wild guess because you didn't respond the second time when I asked you why the mouse listener wasn't added to the text area.

    When I try to cut and past text from Firefox to Microsoft Works I receive an error that says 'Not enough memory, close applications and restart windows'. This never works! I never had this issue with IE! How can I fix this issue?

    If the crashing only happens with other peoples projects it could be for a variety of reasons. There are tons of asset references saved in the library (the location every item was imported from) and much more. None of those locations will exist on your system and internal complications may simply happen, especially with any runtime shared assets.
    If possible you should consider adding more system RAM so you can multi-task. RAM is extremely cheap. I'm assuming from a smaller 500GB HD and 4GB RAM that you're probably on a laptop however. Installing RAM is still usually pretty easy if you have the notebook manual (or grab it online). It typically involves just lifting the keyboard or opening a single panel on the bottom of the notebook but it varies greatly. At any rate, 8GB RAM would help you quite a bit. If you do, just make sure you get the correct type of RAM (again, in the specs in your manual).
    Even when you run out of physical RAM, Flash (like any other application) will still see more RAM based on the OS's swap memory setting (using available space on your HD as RAM). It will get much slower but Flash should see the total amount the 32bit OS can handle for RAM (it doesn't know if it's physical fast RAM or SWAP (fake) HD RAM though). If you open other apps with Flash they should also operate, but will also use swap RAM and you've probably noticed your HD crunching a lot while more apps are open.
    That said, I have a 4GB RAM in my older i7 lappie and have used Flash CS5.5 and CS6 on it extensively, with other applications open. Although my projects contain mild assets and mostly tons of code. No issues at all. I just think your heavy assets are crashing you.
    Either way, glad you got your work done. You're welcome and good luck!

  • JTree cut and paste multiple child and ancestor nodes not function correct

    Hello i'm creating a filebrowser for multimedia files (SDK 1.22) such as .jpg .gif .au .wav. (using Swing, JTree, DefaultMutableTreeNode)
    The problem is I want to cut and paste single and multiple nodes (from current node til the last child "top-down") which partly functions:
    single nodes and multiple nodes with only one folder per hierarchy level;
    Not function:
    - multiple folders in the same level -> the former order gets lost
    - if there is a file (MMed. document) between folders (or after them) in the same level this file is put inside one of those
    I tried much easier functions to cope with this problem but every time I solve one the "steps" the next problem appears...
    The thing I don't want to do, is something like a LinkedList, Hashtable (to store the nodes)... because the MMed. filebrowser would need to much resources while browsing through a media library with (e.g.) thousands of files!
    If someone has any idea to solve this problem I would be very pleased!
    Thank you anyway by reading this ;)

    You need to use a recursive copy method to do this. Here's a simple example of the copy. To do a cut you need to do a copy and then delete the source.

  • Cut and Paste - Data Validation - JEditorPane

    I have an editor in development that uses JEditorPane which is supposed to accept only certain characters as its input.
    Now if I use keystroke I am able to handle the input data entered using keyboard and it seems this is not a good idea :(.
    But, for cut and paste this method does not work. So my questions are,
    1) What is a good way to do data validation for Paste operations
    2) I know that I might need to have a custom document but where do I do the validation in the custom document. I have checked using print statements and for my paste operation, it seems that the insert method in document does not get called.
    3) Is using system clipboard and checking the text before insertion a better option.
    4)What exactly happens when paste ie control C is pressed or paste from menu is clicked. I mean sequence of method calls.
    I know I have asked many questions but answers to any of them will be highly appreciated !!
    Thanks a lot for your help in advance :)

    In my application, I subclass JTextField but you should be able to change it to JEditorPane. Here is a snippet of code that you need:
    public class myTextField extends JTextField implements ClipboardOwner {
       public boolean processKeyBinding(KeyStroke ks, KeyEvent e, int condition, boolean pressed) {
          if (ks==KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_V,2)) {     // CTRL-V (paste text from clipboard)
             pasteText();
             return true;
          }   // there is more to my code but this will do
          return super.processKeyBinding(ks,e,condition,pressed);
       private void pasteText() {
          try {
             Transferable contents=clipboard.getContents(this);
             if (contents==null) return;
             int i=getCaretPosition();
             String line=(String)contents.getTransferData(DataFlavor.stringFlavor);
             String tmp=getText();
             int sStart=getSelectionStart();
             int sEnd=getSelectionEnd();
             if (sStart>=0) {
                setText(tmp.substring(0,sStart)+line+tmp.substring(sEnd));
                i=sStart;
             } else {
                if (i<tmp.length()) line+=tmp.substring(i);
                setText(tmp.substring(0,i)+line);
             sEnd=Math.min(i+line.length(),getText().length());
             setCaretPosition(sEnd);
             select(i,sEnd);
          } catch (Throwable t) {
             if (ExtDB!=null) ExtDB.setError("",t);
       public void lostOwnership(Clipboard cb, Transferable transferable) {
    }The above has been formatted to look pretty, the following is more suitable for cut-n-paste:
    public class myTextField extends JTextField implements ClipboardOwner {
       public boolean processKeyBinding(KeyStroke ks, KeyEvent e, int condition, boolean pressed) {
          if (ks==KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(KeyEvent.VK_V,2)) {     // CTRL-V (paste text from clipboard)
             pasteText();
             return true;
          }   // there is more to my code but this will do
          return super.processKeyBinding(ks,e,condition,pressed);
       private void pasteText() {
          try {
             Transferable contents=clipboard.getContents(this);
             if (contents==null) return;
             int i=getCaretPosition();
             String line=(String)contents.getTransferData(DataFlavor.stringFlavor);
             String tmp=getText();
             int sStart=getSelectionStart();
             int sEnd=getSelectionEnd();
             if (sStart>=0) {
                setText(tmp.substring(0,sStart)+line+tmp.substring(sEnd));
                i=sStart;
             } else {
                if (i<tmp.length()) line+=tmp.substring(i);
                setText(tmp.substring(0,i)+line);
             sEnd=Math.min(i+line.length(),getText().length());
             setCaretPosition(sEnd);
             select(i,sEnd);
          } catch (Throwable t) {
             if (ExtDB!=null) ExtDB.setError("",t);
       public void lostOwnership(Clipboard cb, Transferable transferable) {
    }This will force the paste action to trigger a call to insertString.
    ;o)
    V.V.
    PS: my preference for the use of processKeyBinding has been labled inappropriate, the proper method according to the experts in this forum is to use a combination of InputMap/ActionMap.... so, you decide what you want to do.

  • Cut and paste problem in an applet :(

    Hi All,
    I have developed an applet based GUI and now I wanted to cut and paste some text from an external application say from a notepad(Windows) to a
    JTextfield in the applet. I tried to do it on a applet but it was not allowing me to do it. I was able to do the same(cut and paste) on a textfield when run as an application. So does the cut and paste operation has anything to do with the sandbox security provided by an applet model?. This sounds bit crazy or maybe Im missing something here. Would appreciate help on this.
    Thanks a ton!
    Thanks,
    Ram

    You can always use CTRL-C and CTRL-V to copy/paste, but if you want to right-click, you have to implement it yourself.. Here's MY implementation, if even has 'Undo'!

  • Cut and paste problems

    Cut and paste between program has been real buggy since upgrading.  Today, I am trying to cut lines of text out of InDesign and paste into either a web browser or Mail, and nothing happening.  Text cuts OK, cause I can paste it back into ID, but won't let me paste elsewhere.  Had the same problem earlier pasting between Excel and ID.  Anybody else experiencing this?

    It's an extremely important skill to learn to read the API and become familiar with the tools you will use to program Java. Java has an extensive set of documentation that you can even download for your convenience. These "javadocs" are indexed and categorized so you can quickly look up any class or method. Take the time to consult this resource whenever you have a question - you'll find they typically contain very detailed descriptions and possibly some code examples.

  • Cut and Paste fail (6.0.1)

    When I try to cut and paste a graphic from Safari to Keynote, Keynote places a new text box. Do the same with Pages and the grapic appears. Why won't the graphic appear in Keynote? What's the deal?

    Drag and drop will work, but it appears that sone Keynote code has not been aligned to numbers and Pages yet (since it works there). Keynote has a problem with which bit of data to pull from the clipboard when pasting.

  • When I cut and paste on the ipad I often get unwanted html text.

    When I cut and paste on the ipad I often get unwanted html text. Is there a way to just get the selected words? I dont need all the code and % signs.

    Does this occur when you use a laptop?
    It could be some extra formating characters are being copied.  The web server app needs to filter these characters out.
    Possible solution.
    You need to find an app that filters out formating characters.  Look for app support only simple ascii text.
    copy text. paste to simple ascii text app.  copy pasted text.  Paste to safri.
    something like, should be good enough. use file type .txt
