Lightning 1.0 recurent event and Communications Synchronization Engine

Hello,
We have noticed that lightning 1.0 does add interval value
when it is 1.
Then our synchronica gateway does not sync recurrent
events.
Could someone test it with Communications Synchronization Engine
to tell me if there is also the problem?
Examples used to reproduce the problem:

When the interval is not set, synchronica will not sync the recurent event
although it should be ok:
chapter "4.3.10 Recurrence Rule" de http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2445.txt :
The INTERVAL rule part contains a positive integer representing how
often the recurrence rule repeats. The default value is "1", meaning
every second for a SECONDLY rule, or every minute for a MINUTELY
rule, every hour for an HOURLY rule, every day for a DAILY rule,
every week for a WEEKLY rule, every month for a MONTHLY rule and
every year for a YEARLY rule.

"If a single occurrence of a recurring event is changed the change is ignored."Hello Shane,
I also know this limitation as we (University of Geneva)
had reported it one year ago.
But this is a new bug which is much worse.
Basically, what happens with lightning 1.0 is that
all new recurrent events are synchronized
as a non recurrent event because lightning creates
the event differently without providing an OPTIONAL parameter
and while respecting the ical RFC.
There are no log to provide, the bug is easy to reproduce.
You just create an event (eg daily).
You export the calendar.
You remove the INTERVAL parameter in it as
the RFC said it is optional and has a default value of one.
You import this event.
You sync.
You have the bug.
Or you just install lightning 1.0, create an recurrent event
and sync.
From what I have been told by mozilla developers
the bug is not limited to lightning but all applications
that uses a new version of libical (like evolution).
Users have not yet met the bug because lightning 1.0
is still in beta. But when it would be available it is
going to be a very bad news.

  • ICal 3.x .ics import - problem with recurring events and non-unique UIDs

Upgraded to Leopard over the holiday break. Under Tiger's iCal (v2.x), .ics files exported from other calendar programs (Outlook via iAppoint/O2M in this case) and imported into iCal behaved 'normally'. However, in iCal 3.x in Leopard, for recurring appointments in the exported calendar, only the last appointment in the series shows up in iCal (although some meetings show up for about 0.25 seconds during the calendar import, then immediately disappear! This post by MalcolmS provided the critical clue - it seems that for recurring events, the .ics file has all of the events in the series with the same UID. Previous versions of iCal didn't care, but v3 apparently does - and deletes all earlier versions of the event, leaving only the last one with that UID. I confirmed that is the case by opening the .ics file in Word, which clearly showed all of the recurring events, and all the events in a series (e.g. a weekly meeting for the year) had the same UID. After the import to iCal, only the last one is in the calendar (in the above example, the one meeting of the series occurring in the last week of December). Manually editing the UIDs of a recurring series in the .ics file (to make them actually unique) allows them to all show up in iCal after import.
Since many of the events in my Outlook calendar are accepted invites for recurring appointments, re-creating them as individual calendar events in Outlook is not a viable option. The frequency of changes to my calendar means I usually export it once per day (or twice); thus, manually editing the .ics files is also not a viable option.
Any suggestions on workarounds for this problem? Alternatively, any other suggestions for getting the calendar data from Outlook into iCal?
    Thanks in advance!

Moot point, as direct iPhone access to the Exchange server is now supported by our IT department.

  • Icloud deleted recurring event and send notifications to everybody. I never used icloud and never deleted this event.

I never used icloud and never made any changes to my icloud.
Today icloud sent notifications to 100 people that the event was cancelled. I didnt made any changes. Those 100 people wrote "very good feedback"
This event was created not in icloud, it was created in Outlook on my work PC, and it was done half a year ago.
As I understand events from my outlook synced with icloud and iclud somehow made chamges without my permission.
But the most fummy thing that event is still present in icloud, in Outlook and in my Iphone also.
Please FIX or explain this, I dodnt want to have a repeat of this bug tomorrow

Thanks, yeah I called Apple Customer Services and the guy said that the only thing I can do is restore my phone from my latest iTunes backup.
The screen I got when this debacle happened literally said: "What would you like to do with the previously synched iCloud contacts on your iPhone?" It's so poorly worded, I thought it was just referring to the contacts that were just put on my phone from my computer, hense the "previously synched iCloud contacts" but when I was on the phone with the guy he was saying that I misunderstood the screen.
I don't think I'm crazy, they could have worded it better and made it more clear they meant ALL contacts deleted, not just the ones synched from iCloud.

  • AppleScript and Recurring Events

I'm trying to create an AppleScript that will, essentially, e-mail every event for the week to Remember The Milk so that, on the iPhone, I can pull up Appigo's To Do and get an overview of everything I have to do for the day-- both RTM tasks and iCal events. For all non-recurring events, I'm in great shape.
The problem, of course, is the way iCal handles recurring events and start dates. Because it considers the start date to be only the first occurrence of a recurring event, they're excluded when start dates are used to get only those events that occur within a specific timeframe.
I can get all of my recurring events rather easily (although if anyone knows of better way than +...whose recurrence is not ""+ I'd be in your debt), but I don't want to sync every instance of the event. When regular appointments are canceled/rescheduled, I don't want to have to change them in multiple locations.
Is there a way to get AppleScript to work with only a single occurrence of a recurring event? (Or, preferably, several single occurrences, considering that I've got anywhere between ten and thirty recurring events, depending on the week.)
I had the thought of, before syncing every week, deleting any previous occurrence of a recurring event, but the script prompts me for the number of days I want to sync each time it runs, and I can foresee wanting to sync two or three weeks at a time, in which case simply deleting the event doesn't really solve the problem anyway.

Several lines of the “broken” script seem to be badly written, for example:
set root_Folder to rootFolder as alias -- rootFolder instead of root_Folder
set events_Folder to events_Foler as alias -- Foler instead of Folder

  • When I update a recurring event on my iPhone, it does not make changes to the calendar in ical or icloud.  Is anyone else having this issue?

Updating a recurring event on my iPhone does not update the event in either ical or icloud.  If I add a new event on the iPhone it updates right away.  Is this a known problem?  Should I get rid of the recurring event and just make changes day to day manually?  I like having the recurring event set for my work schedule because it rarely changes, but when it does, I'd like to use my iPhone for the updates instead of carrying around my MAC Book all the time.
    Thank you!

After connecting to iTunes, I noticed that "Back up to iCloud" was selected (in the middle of the screen on the "Summary" tab, under "Backup"), and "Last backed up to iCloud" reflected the time that I attempted to back up from my phone. Even now, the phone still says "Last Backup: Never," so there is clearly a disconnect. Hopefully Apple will fix this soon.

  • How do I edit recurring event in iCal

Pre-Lion, a pop up screen asked whether to edit all events or only the selected occurence.  How do I edit all of the recurring events in Lion?

Double click the recurring event and edit it - you should get this:

  • Deleted recurring events still show up on iPad/iPhone/Macbook Calendars

Trying to view several calendars for the purpose of project management.  Here is the problem step by step:
    1) If I am UserA and have  my calendar set up as Exchange or CalDav with FULL rights, I can add, delete or edit all events as needed.  I can add recurring events and DELETE one or more occurrences of the recurring event and have THAT show up correctly on my iPad.
    2) If UserB sets up his calendar and gives me read access, I can SUBSCRIBE to his calendar using normal "other / caldav" subscription settings and view it properly.  No problem.
    3) If UserB sets up a recurring event (lunch meeting at noon every Monday), that shows up properly on my iPad.  No problem.
    4) If UserB is going to be out of town or decides to cancel his lunch meeting for some other reason, he can on his own machine (Outlook, Mac Calendar, iPad with Exchange full account) delete that event.  No problem for HIM.
    5) On MY iPad, the subscribe calendar never shows anything different.  The same recurring events continue to display even if UserB has delete one OCCURRENCE of the event.  This IS a problem.  My view of his calendar is now incorrect.  Yeah, yeah, one meeting one day is not a problem.  But multiply that by several users, multiple deletions of recurring events, and suddenly the whole shooting match is out of whack.
    6) I can refresh the calendar to my heart's content, but nothing changes.
    7) Here's the kicker:  I can DELETE the subscribed calendar and RESUBSCRIBE to it.  This forces a completely fresh download to my iPad.  Doesn't change a thing.  The same recurring events still override ANY deletions that the user made to individual instances of the events.
In looking at the raw ICS file which I can download via a web browser, an entry might look like this:

You can easily see that the EXDATE shows a deletion for 2013-02-25 as well as other dates.  Doesn't matter.  They STILL show up on the iPad and in the Mac OSX Calendar.
I consider this a bug.  I hope an Apple employee sees and responds to this.  I would welcome any thoughts, workarounds or suggestions that could help with this.
Yes, I can tell users to only put INDIVIDUAL events on their calendar.  But, let's face it.  It's easier to put a recurring event and delete one or two instead of putting 50 recurring events for the whole year.
And, of course, Outlook displays things properly as do similar CalDav clients.

Exact same issue here. Individual events deleted from a recurring appointment continue to show up in Calendar (OS X 10.8.2).  Same events do not show up on calendar if viewed via outlook from my desk PC or view outlook web app from anywhere.
    Clearly a bug.

  • Setting recurring events in calendar

I have an I phone 4. I am trying to set recurring meetings that occur for example; on the second Wednesday of every month. On the repeat selection, there is no option for that. I find this very odd as many professionals have recurring events and meetings that would need to be scheduled this way.
The only workaround I see is to add it to my desktop Outlook calendar which does have this type of recurring event.

The easiest way, unfortunately, is to make that kind of recurrance in the calendar app in your computer then sync it to the ipad
the ipad calendar app handles a lot of repeat patterns, but not that one.

  • Delete one ical recurring event - automator

    Hi,
I am wanting to make a small Automator workflow that will allow me to delete only certain events from within a recurring event chain. I use iCal for my school timetable (spread over two separate calendars - separate from all of my other events)  and have it recurring every week. I would like this workflow to delete the timetable from the holiday periods but delete only those events that lie within the holidays.
i have created a workflow that does what I want initially, but it interrupts the recurring event and therefore deletes all of my timetable in the two specified calendars after the holiday period that I specify. I use three different steps, shown by the images below (in order):
For example, if in step 2, I put in the date "after 2/7" and "before 5/7", I want it to delete all events on the two calendars from step one between 2/7 and 5/7. Instead, this is deleting all events on those two calendars after 2/7 because the recurring event is deleted.
How can I get this to do what I want?
Is there a way to get Automator to use the "Delete only this event" option that appears in a prompt if deleting a recurring event from directly within iCal?
    Cheers.

Something you might try is, Right click on the event in your calendar and select "get info".  In the get info screen set the "repeat" to none.  End that screen and go back to the calendar and right click select "cut".  Should be gone for good.

    Captfred

  • Cannot delete recurring events in calendar

All of a sudden, with the (TERRIBLE) changes of iOS 7, recurring events will not delete or be changed. Each time I try to delete or even change an event, it walks through the correct process tellingme that it is a recurring event and asking if I want to delete just this one or all future events. I say all future. All's good. It goes away. then 5 seconds later it shows up again!  Same thin when I try to edit or move an event. I have tried on all my devices  to delete the same event -- it always returns!
I am running iMac intel with OS X 10.9
    iPhone & iPad iOS 7
and I am at a loss as how to do it differently.
I found on earlier sites to put " sudo chmod -a# 0 ~/Library/Preferences/ into terminal -- but Termal came back with "
    chmod: No ACL present '
Any thoughts?  Anyone else having this problem?

Is this a synced calendar or just on the phone?
For a synced calendar, you will need to go to the Settings App > Mail,Contacts,Calendar and remove it from there.
For a calendar on the device, open the calendar app > Calendars > Seelct the calendar(s) in question (tap on the blue arrow to the right) > scroll down and tap Delete Calendar.

  • Droid Incredible - Move one instance of a recurring event

Is there any way to move one instance of a recurring event?  I am trying to take a recurring event on a given day and move just that one

I originally did all of my recurring events and calendar stuff from gmail/calendar. It then synced to phone.
You can click on the particular event and choose to delete the specific one. You can do that on either the phone or online calendar.

  • How can I get all of my calendars and recurring events to synch via iCloud with my iPad2?

Not all of my recurring events sych via the iCloud with my Mac and IOS devices - most specifically my iPad2. For example, my anniversary appears on my Mac and my iPhone, but not on my iPad2.
I notice that when I click on "Calendars" when the iCal app is open in my iPhone I get 2 lists of calendars - one that is labled "On my iphone" and the other that is labled "iCloud". The same two lists appear in the iCal app on my Mac. But on my iPad2 the only list that appears is "iCloud".
Can anyone help with this issue?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Contacts aren't backed up and therefore aren't restored from a back up either. They are synced with the cloud, so after you have restored your device you should be able to sign back into your account and turn syncing back on again. If you need to check if your contacts are in the cloud, go to iCloud.com on a computer.

  • How To Expand And Display Recurring Events In Content Search Web Part?

I have a requirement to display all upcoming events. So I used content search webpart to display all the events, however the only problem is that I'm unable to expand recurring events all together. Is there a way to do this?
    Vamsi Munagala

    Hi Vamsi,
Per my knowledge, where is no OOB method to achieve your requirement.
As a workaround, we can customize a web part to achieve it, querying Recurring Events using CAML Query and display the results in a SPGridView.
