Cycle average and RMS VI outputting unexpected value.

I have an application that performs FFT analysis on an AC voltage singnal. As part of the whole setup, I've also included the Cycle average and RMS vi. When I've run the whole program, I've found out that the RMS value indicated is less than the highest magnitude component from the FFT analysis!(Which is incorrect). In addition I've found that the sub-vi, ma_ptmFetch.vi, within the cycle average and RMS VI, is returning an error(-20312), which says input waveform size is zero.
Can anyone help, with this problem?

two general observations
1) the differences in the RMS value an the highest magnitude in the FFT may be due to scaling, 0 to peak vs RMS in the FFT
2) the cycle average VI is a good one to use, however the default percentage of full scale numbers are very tight. These determine how many true cycles you have in your data, and may be filtering out cycles, giving you the waveform size of 0. Try lowering the limits to 70 for the high side, and 30 for the low side, rather than 90 and 10 which are the defaults.
What are you trying to learn from the AC voltage? Are you performing some sort of power quality test?

Hi,
Please look at PDF for pictures included.
I’ve got an existing labview code made in LV2009. Running fine where installed.
The problem is when running it now on current verison 2011.
The main problem is the Cycle Average an RMS function.
When running from labview help ; example code:
Pulse and Transition Measurements.vi
Her below run as initial setup whit no noise, a clean sinus.
With noise added ..the calculations vary a little.
The problem arises when the signal is outside of the referencelevels:
For example with a lot of noise . Still the same raw signal, men now the noise std dev is increased from 0,1 to 0,4
Same result form small signals
The program runs a while, but again the error message comes.
When running a the code on our own system :
Trough a IIR filter:
Lowpass: , signal below null
Bandpass not quite good either..
In any case I cannot get away the error message:
Error -20308 occurred at "NI_MAPro.lvlib:Cycle Average and RMS 1 chan.vi:2" when called from "NI_MAPro.lvlib:Cycle Average and RMS N chan.vi:1" (waveform index 0 of 2)
ossible reason(s):

Have tried to adjust any referense level without any sucsess..
What could be wrong??

Can you let me know if this issue/questions is still active?
Can you provide the code you used in NI LabVIEW 2009 and the code you use in NI LabVIEW 2011?
Can you also provide the data sets you used to verify the behavior of both versions of the code?
Also keep in mind the error message you got from your VI:
"The waveform did not cross the mid reference level enough times to perform this measurement. Check the signal length, reference levels, and ref level units."
Have you compared the data sets you are providing/acquiring at the old installation (with NI LabVIEW 2009) with the data sets you are acquiring/providing in your newer installation (with NI LabVIEW 2011).
Based on the errors it seems like these are/might be different (eg. new/other sensors) .
You also use the default values for the settings of the "Cycle Average and RMS.VI".
If these default values don't suffice for the measurements with your new sensors, then this might also be causing issues.
If the code and the acquired data you are using in both set-ups is exactly the same (aside from the LabVIEW version), then I would not expect a difference in behavior.
However, this requires the knowledge of the data you're using for your calculation.

Help! Want to read from a xl file and get an output voltage value!!!

I`m a beginner, so please help..
My program should output an voltage value that is read from an xl-file with one collum. The most important is that each values in the xl graph should be read per iteration. So that the file is read over time. I want to use this xl file to controll the output signal over time.
Can anyone show me how this VI would look like, and what would the xl file look like??

The easiest way to do this is to save your Excel file as a comma or tab separated text file and not the native Excel format. Then you can use Read From Spreadsheet File (on the File I/O palette). Using this, you can read the file all at once and then just have a 1D array that you can wire to a while or for loop so that with each iteration of the loop, you get one element in the array. A for loop automatically indexes an input array. Reading the file all at once will be more effecient that reading the file line by line.

TB Average and Dynamic Time series

Hi,
In our outline, we have Time dimension tagged ad Dynamic Time series.
There few measures which have member formula attached, they are dynamic calc, two pass.
Among these measures which are tagged as TB average and skip missing, we get zero for QTD,YTD on retrieval.
But for other measures which do not have TB average and skip missing, we get values for QTD and YTD.
Please help !!

Just an update on the above query,
I was able to see numbers when I used the attribute dimension.
For eg.-
we have 5 standard dimension and 2 attribute dimensions which are attached to LOB standard dimension.
In excel addin when i retrieve withour taking the attribute dimension, i dont see numbers and when i put the attribute dimension as header, i see numbers.
Why this attribute dimension is making diffrence

Calculate Average and Maximum of KeyFigure values by Date.

Hi Experts,
There are certain KeyFigures such as CPU Utilization, Memory Allocated, etc in BEx Analyzer coming from InfoCube by Date (0CALDAY).
The End-user is interested in looking at Average CPU Utilization / Day and Maximum CPU Utilization / Day as different Columns.
I tried to change the configurations of these KeyFigures to Average and Maximum in the Back-end (BI ETL) but it is not working.
We are working on BI 7.0.
Could anyone please help with this?

Execute SQL Task, OLE DB, Stored Procedure, Returns unexpected value upon second run

when debugging SSIS, the "Execute SQL Task" runs a stored procedure and returns the expected value. When running the package a second time, the task returns an unexpected value. When running in VS2012 SQL editor, everything operates as expected.
Please help me debug how to get the stored proc to return the same value every time the SSIS Package is run. thanks!

How can I use Easy Custom Device Tool to do the same thing LabVIEW the Basic Averaged DC-RMS VI does

I am using a cRio 9024 and am reading PWM with a 9205 analog input card. It was suggested that I use the Basic Averaged DC-RMS VI to convert the PWM signal voltage into an analog signal (RMS value) for use in my system. The issue is that the 9024 cannot use LabVIEW models (it is VxWorks). I am working through the Easy Custom Device Tool, and wonder if someone can guide me in the right direction.

Hello,
Can you give more details about your VeriStand configuration ? Are you using the Scan Interface (and thus the Scan Engine Custom Device) or are you using the FPGA of your cRIO chassis to access the I/O ?
If you are programming the FPGA and using a FPGA Personalty in VeriStand you can probably add the calculations such as RMS to the FPGA code directly.
If you are using the Scan Engine, you will need a custom device. The Easy Custom Device Tool is just a tool, you will need to know more about what a custom device is and how to develop one:

Question about Averaged DC-RMS for N Chans

I am using Averaged DC-RMS.vi to filter random noise from waveforms. When
I input only one channel waveform, it works ok. like follow:

In XML Output the values of Number column tags are not displayed properly

Hi,
Our Client have been using AR Invoice Print Program for a long time and it is heavily customized. Also they are using an old version of the RDF. So we have taken the latest version of the RDF (RAXINV.rdf) for Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 by raising a SR and implement Client's old RAXINV.rdf into it.
All was ok, but when we are running the program, the XML Output did not generate properly. For the Q_INVOICE query (G_ORDER_BY, G_INVOICE and G_INV_TERM group), the value of some of the scaler number columns are not appeared properly. The tags are coming correctly, but the value is appearing as '*', instead of the correct value. We have checked in the RDF Level (By putting srw.message and check in the log file) that those columns are having proper value. So there is no issue with the RDF.
But because of the above mentioned problem, the some of the PDF output field values also is not generated correctly.
I think that because of the lexical parameters which was implementing the Q_INVOICE query (&COMMON_QUERY) this issue is coming. Because the issue is only in the Q_INVOICE query group (G_ORDER_BY, G_INVOICE and in G_INV_TERM group) not in any other query group.
There is no problem with the scaler character columns. The issue is only with the number columns.
Also we have checked that if we hardcode the value of the number columns in the above mentioned lexical parameter, this problem doesn't appear.
If we put TO_CHAR function to those number columns in the lexical parameter (COMMON_QUERY), then this issue get solved. But we can't do it because of performance issue and also Client won't approve it.

I don't know how to read the code you pasted or I would have checked this myself.
Do your fields in the internal table reference dictionary objects or elementary types? If not using dictionary types, the column names will be blank by default. If you can't change your fields to be dictionary types, you can try this to change the column names:

Purchase order print priview and spool print output are different.

Hi Friends,
there is problem with purchase order print priview and spool print output are different.
mean : in me23n .. for a perticular po .. in po priview the TAX VALUES value is 120 coming..
when i am giving print with spool.. the amount value is showing TAX VALUE
is 443..why it is showing wrong..
this is for perticular output type.
why TAX VALUES are showing different in print view and
spool print.

but the valiadtions are happening in standard functional module PRICING.
it is realted script(medruck)...but there is no code point for spool or printer side..
and the issue is realted one PO OUTPUT TYPE..
it is sap standard debugging... when i am debugging the functional module PRICING.
the values are coming dynammically.

Just what are the pixel dimensions of these photos that are automatically rotating on you in Premiere Elements 11 workspace after being transferred there from the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor? Do I have that correct? If so, how are you making the transfer....Edit with Premiere Elements Editor, Burn to Disc, or other as Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor output?
What is the scenario...from the camera to the computer hard drive, landscape; from the computer hard drive to the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor, landscape; from the Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow Editor to Premiere Elements 11 Project Assets/Timeline, rotated to Portrait?
Do you find that the frequency of the problem is related to pixel dimensions, number of photos used? What is the format of these photos, jpg or other?
Are you using the Rotation option in the Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel expanded to correct the photo rotation?
Just some thoughts for now.

Call tcode KSB1 in a custom program and modify its output

I was searching the forum for finding a way to create a program that has all details from KSB1 and some details from CJ13 (WBS details) and found some related posts. But none of the posts had any details on how to actually achieve this.
I have to do a similar thing of getting the KSB1 output and add WBS details for each line item and then give the final output.
If you have already done this before, please elaborate on the steps how you achieved it.
Please specify the SUBMIT that you had written to call KSB1. If I can have all details from KSB1 in my memory, then I can read that in my program and add WBS details and give the output.
Below is what I am doing but it gives the same error as one of you had - transaction code not defined.
DATA: FCODE TYPE SY-TCODE VALUE 'KSB1'.
SUBMIT RKAEP000 WITH SY-TCODE = FCODE.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Create and write form output to text file

HI am pretty new to this and have a prob.
I have 10 fields in my form submitting which i need to create and write the form field values into an xml fil..this file is further used for other read write transactions.
Can somebody help creating and writing data into the text file with code (if u have it handy).
