Dark vertical line on iPad mini screen

Has anyone had a dark shaded line running vertically on iPad mini?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Permanent lines on ipad mini screen

I have had my ipad mini for 2 days. I have noticed that there are permanent lines "burnt" into the screen. In landscape mode the lines are vertical; in portrait, the lines are horizontal. It is really noticeable when viewing dark images or films. It also shows up when viewing web sites on safari.
I don't remember seeing this at first but I've only just got around to putting any pics or films onto the mini. I would post an image but if I do a screen grab, the lines aren't there.

Mine too. Ordered off Apple Online Store, opened box on 25 December, called Apple on 28 December, swapped out for new one at local Apple Store on 29 December. New one is fine. Guys at Apple store didn't argue and confirmed definatley a duff screen. I suspect you might be sorted now given the date of your last post...if not I'd get it returned.
    Eh Dash...how long have u had it?..have u asked for a new one...sounds like you're waiting for a repair?

  • My ipad mini screen is broken

I lent on my ipad mini screen in the bottom corner and now there are loads of vertical and horizontal lines on the screen which block the view. Would this be an LCD replacement or external glass replacement. Does anyone have any experience of this and how did they fix the ipad.

It will cost you approximately US$250.00 to US$300.00
Apple will replace the entire iPad; they don't repair.

  • 10 Dark Vertical Lines

There are ten dark lines on my screen. They just appeared this afternoon when I put on my macbook pro. I already used it once in the morning and it was fine. Between uses it was sitting on the table. They are very dark near the bottom and then fade as they go up. The lines are very uniform, spaced evenly apart and are the same width. I didn't put anything on top of it (I know it can screw up the screen, so I avoid it) and when it travels, I make sure it's well protected.

I have seen this problem (ten dark vertical lines) on my MacBook Pro on several occasions after waking from sleep by opening the lid. I have found that closing the lid, then reopening, seems to clear the fault. I suspect the problem is related to the LED backlighting (this model has LED backlights, rather than cold-cathode fluorescent light used in earlier models). My guess is that the LED backlight controller sometimes gets into a 'funny' state at startup, with every second (or third?) column turned off. This may (or may not) be related to the other display fault I've observed on my MBP: sometimes opening the lid gives a completely black screen. When this happens, closing then reopening the lid does not work-- I have to hold down the Power button to force a power down (very annoying).

  • Blue and gray/black vertical lines on start up screen.

At start up my 2008 MacBookPro brings up a blue and black/gray vertical lines covering the entire screen. It has a large image of the power button and tells me "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button". We've tried that. It restarts, makes the start up noise and gives the same prompt with the same blue and gray vertical lines in the background. Any idease on what our problem is?

MacBook Pro (Early 2008): Dark bands showing intermittently on built-in display
MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues .  The affected computers  were manufactured between approximately May 2007 and September 2008.

  • How do i fix a scratch on iPad mini screen?

IS there any product I can buy to repair a small scratch on my iPad mini screen?

You can either put a screen protector over it and ignore it, pay the $219+ for an out of warranty replacement or if you have apple care plus, cash in one of your $49 dollar accidental damage events and get a replacement.

  • IPad mini screen problems

A section of my brand new iPad minis screen keeps going blank, black or extremely pixelated though the screen sensor still works in that area. It used to come and go but currently it seems to be permanent. What to do????

Doesn't matter where you bought it, it's still covered by Apple's 1-year warranty.
Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • My ipad mini screen will not slide to unlock

My IPad mini screen will not unlock. It was fine one minute and the next, I couldn't slide it to unlock it.

Does anything happen when you touch the screen, the slider doesn't get a box around it (which would indicate VoiceOver being 'on') ?
If not then have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My ipad mini screen cracked...no reason I haven't dropped it nothing just cracked...I thought it was a hair on the screen.  Then a scratch on the screen protector...but it is a crack?

my ipad mini screen flickers constantly, restored it and reset it and it still flickers. what do I do now?

If you have done all of the above i would call Apple care or setup an appointment at a Apple Store for them to diagnose and replace.

  • Vertical line appearing on my screen

today I started having a vertical line appear on my screen. It flickered on and off for a while and then came on for good. I can't seem to get this to go away.
By doing a simple search I've found that this is a cable defect in the product and that Apple is not addressing the issue claming this is from overuse and the cable just deteriorated - Surprise you get to pay $700 to have this fixed. This is crazy!!! These computers are supposed to be the Mercedes of the computer world! Not the Yugo that falls apart after you drive over a large bump! I've only had the computer for a year and half!
I'm posting this here to see when Apple plans to address this growing problem.
