Dashboard component related Query

Hello, I have a pie chart and 5 column charts and a combo box which drives column charts in my dashboard. I want to add a functionality for column charts where if user clicks on it it reset all column charts. do you know how i can accomplish this?

Hi Venkat,
By using Reset button it would reset the complete dashboard. Just place the component on the dashboard there is nothing required to configure here.

Bind Variables and Shared Component Report Query

I have a query in a region report which I have replicated to a shared component report query.
Both queries reference page items as bind variables in the where clause.
The report region on screen shows the correct results but the report query shows "no data". This is the case when running "Test Query" and "Download XML data" from the shared component report query definition. If I hardcode the variable names I get rows returned, If I use bind variables - and specify the values for these variables I get no data. THe XML file contains the tags for each bind variable I have specified but has no data between the tags. I have Ticked the box to include application and session state but it appears that the bind variables are not being used.
When I use my report query in the application (URL tied to a button) I get the same problem, the binds are not being passed to the report query.
Can someone please clarify if this is a bug or not? And if not, how can I get it to work.

To confirm, yes I selected the bind variables. I used these in the report layout, but the xml file has them as empty i.e.
<P0_START_DATE><P0_START_DATE/> with nothing in between.
IN the Test Query section, if I put real values in the boxes for the bind variables, I get no data found. If I hardcode the values into the query, I get the data.
I've repeated the create report query many times and have created a report layout in RTF. I can use the layout with my region - in the print attributes and the layout works with the query but I need to create a PDF using 2 queries - ROWSET1 and ROWSET2. I can generate the XML but the values in the rows are all empty. When I use the layout with a report query instead of the region, I get no data even though I have used the same sql and have selected the bind variables. I was using variables from page items on page zero but have also tried using page items on the current page, the result is the same.
I need to use a report query and a report layout as I need data from 2 queries in the PDF.
I looked at your demo - what happens if you add a second sql query to the report query - is there any chance I can look at the back end (developer access?)

Setting a bind variable in a Shared Component Report Query

I have defined a Shared Component Report Query in APEX using a bind variable similar to below
Select name, id , ....
from asset
where id = :id
I have also created a Report Region that displays a table where one of the columns contains a value I would like to be a link column that can launch the Report Query and pass its value to the bind parameter :id in the report query. This in turn would generate a pdf report for the details associated with that column. I am having problems setting the :id bind parameter. How do I do this?

The bind values are set from session state. So if try something like this:
Select name, id , ....
from asset
where id = :P1_ID
With P1_ID being a page item, for which you set the session state / value before generating the PDF file. So assuming you already have a page with a report and a page item, and that page item is already used in your report, then you could just create a button to download the PDF, make sure the button is a submit button, and create a branch pointing to the report query URL (or in 3.1 use the create button wizard, to do this declaratively.)

We meet an error, The workbook report no authorization, but related query can show part data.
We have a workbook, it have 1 queries, and when we key in condition to run it, in one field we put on one more condition(Z3XXX = ' WZO' & ' WZA")(User didn't have authorization for this condition), and workbook report no authorization.
Then we checked authorization check log and it show "You do not have sufficient authorization on Z3XXX = ' WCO'.
But when we execute the related query with same condition. the query can open and show WZA's data.
I'd like to know the reason.

Hi,
yes you can have multiple query in your report. So you have multiple groups in your data model. Then you must put multiple repeating frames in your layout in order to extract data from your queries, selecting the desired group in the source property of your repeating frame.

SAP 4.1 SP2 - Dashboards Error in Query Browser

Hello Experts,
I am using SAP Business Objects 4.1 SP2. I am getting attached error while trying to access Universe/Bex query through Query Browser. Please see below the exact steps that I am following -
1. Open SAP Dashboards. Select Query Browser option.
2. Select Bex/Universe any one of the option.
3. Select Cube/Universe based on the selected option.
4. It throws below error.
Please note, I have already tried following without any luck -
Redeploying dswsbobje application and restarting TOMCAT.
Increasing APS memory.
Please help.

Please make sure all the services required services are running.. mainly see if the DSL bridge service is working fine..
The BICS or Universe selection would not work if DSL service has problem..

How can I related Query name with Query elements?

I am working with BI7, content technical, well I need to find out a solution where I can related Query name with query elements (KYF, CKY, Restricted Key Figures, var, etc)
In master data 0tctquery, exist the query element, but, I can not related with object are from what query...
Do you know how I can do it??? some solution???

hmmm... these are exactly the tables the Query Designer uses to "build" up the query... so trust me, they do relate
now to get this information in an InfoCube is a totally different thing... how do you expect to report on this if you should get it in an InfoCube? let's take a simple example... assume you have a query (QUERY_1) which looks like:

in your Cube you would get:

if you have free characteristics, you'll add more lines... same for variables, CKFs, RKFs, conditions, ...
I guess it would be better to create a little ABAP report using the above tables (oh, you'll be needing a lot more tables if you wish more detail)

Dashboard to BEx query call run time very slow (7-8 mins)

Hi Guys,
I am currently working on a project where BEx query is being consumed using BICS. The functional team has built a BEx which is being cached in Webi by the BO developer and then that cashed Webi is being used in Dashboard. We have many hierarchies (Fund Center, Profit Center, GL Account etc.) used in the dashboard.
BEx query > WEBi (Cached) > Dashboard
Clicking the main level in hierarchy in dashboard the data comes back in 2-3 secs as the data is cached in Webi
ISSUE: In Dashboard based on where user is on the Fund Center hierarchy there is a button called “Summary Report” on the dashboard which calls the BEx query and that second call takes roughly about 7-8 minutes. How could we reduce the run time of the second query?
The secondary query uses the same data set as the first one but as the data is cached in Webi and it uses Web services to pass data to dashboard, so any call back from dashboard to the cached webi the hierarchy information is lost and thus the secondary query call to BEx query.
Would it be possible to recommend any solution where we could bring the run time of the secondary call to less than a minute?

Dashboard runs blind query

Hi All,
I defined dashboards in OBIEE in 10g.
But I am facing performance issue.
Every time one of the dashboards is run, it looks like it runs a blind query. Is there any way to prevent them from running a query before they select certain parameters?
It appears that even after I select values, the original session for the blind query runs in the background.
Appreciate help on this.

if you are using 10g use an intermediate report and set guided navigation to show the section only when your intermediate report returns rows.
You can follow the below blog entry to customize it for your need to not let the Dashboard run a query when nothing is selected.

Dashboard error in Query as Web Service from WEBI

I have created a WEBI and published it as QAAWS.When i right click and test it with my know parameters and it is working fine. Then i have called it in my Dashboard application.I linked the desired input prompts and output fields in Dashboard.When i run this Dashboard i am getting an error.(It is attached here).
I have searched many days to solve this but failed .this is my last try.Please help me to get rid of this issue.

Can't view dashboard with relative url in BI 4 Launchpad

I created a dashboard using BIWS connections and I am able to preview the dashboard when i have the full path of Web Service URL but when I use the relative url and publish to launchpad I get the "Cannot access external data......, Unable to load URL:/dswsbobje/Services/Session..." error message. Any ideas on how to solve this?

Are you trying to preview the dashboard from dashboard designer tool ? If yes, then you must have a full web service url, otherwise, it will not be able to resolve the server and port.
But, if you use relative URL and export the same to BO repository, you will be able to view the same by logging into BI Launchpad. There it can resolve the server name and port from existing session.

How to modify a pod in dashboard component?

I am new to flex and programming in general. So please do forgive me if I do not express my query clearly or with the right info.
I am trying to build an application to show case photographs and one of the components I am using is the Dashboard built by WASI and can be seen here. It has several pods but I would like to have one of the pods load up with my own default position, width and height yet still retain the characteristics of minimizing, maximizing & drag and drop. Other than through the pods.xml file, I do not know how to modify (or which other file I should modify for that matter) so that when the application loads, it always starts with the particular pod at my desired height (top to bottom), width (about 1/4 of screen real estate) and position (left side of the screen)

1.create a node 'FILEUPLOAD' with 2 attributes
a) FILECONTENT type XSTRING
b) FILENAME type STRING
2. Create a fileuplaod uielement
a) bind the data property with attribute 'FILECONTENT'
b) bind the filename property with attribute 'FILENAME'
3. Create a button 'UPLOAD'
a) create the action method for this button and save the contents of file in database
Data l_node type ref to if_wd_context_node.
Data l_stru type wd_this->elements_cn_fileupload.
l_node = wd_context->get_child_node( 'FILEUPLOAD' ).
l_node->get_static_attributes( importing static_attributes = l_stru ).

Now when you want to display this file;

Fetch the file from database and set the File attribute of the filedownload uielemnt to display the file.

Using presentation variables selected in dashboard prompt in query builder

In dashboard prompt I have made four dropdowns(have four presentation variables) and based on these values selected,can the Query Builder generate dynamic reports based on the presentation variables selected?
I will provide the link(i.e Link of BI publisher where I stored the report) displayed to the user based on Four presentation variables.
If we click on that link can we use the presentation variables in where clause of Query Builder in BI Publisher?

- OK. In the second prompt, instead of setting Default to SQL Results, set it to Specific Value.
- Then insert '{pres_var}' in the window. I got it to work this way.
- It supplied the PV as the default in the second prompt after hitting "Go" on the first prompt.
Hi, thanks for your suggestion but I don't need to have the value of the presentation variable itself as the prompt default. The variable is a filter for a specific SQL clause and the default is the result of this SQL.

How to use my Declarative Component in query component ???

I think these exceptions happend because of there is not any constant of AttributeDescriptor$ComponentType in ComponentType class for myDate component.
I try to create a class and extends ContentType and add my component type to it but I can't. is there any way for solving this problem ?

saying it this way: There is no native option to do this. Since I never tried hacking into the framework classes, I can't say if there is a glimpse of hope for you
