Dashboard prompt - Hierarchy Drop down list
Hi gurus,
Is it possible to create a hierarchy in the dashboard prompt drop down list
For example i have 2 paramater fields :
Drop Dow List - 1 Department and
Drop Dow List - 2 Job Title
Drop Dow List - 2 is having dependency on Drop Dow List - 1, so when user choose the Department, Drop down list -2 (Job Title) value will change accordingly
Can we do this using a dashboard prompt? Pleaseee advice
Thanks in advanced,
Fina
Hi,
I have a suggestion but it may not be perfect
Use presentation varaible to capture the department value and use this as an input to restrict the "Job Title" choosing "SQL Results" under Show option with a query like this SELECT Employee."Job Title" FROM "Account Lists" where Employee.Department = '@{department}'
Ensure the department prompt has a default value set in
Also the new revised options for job title only comes up after you hit "Go" (It doesnt refresh automatically)
As an alternative, you can also try out keeping them as 2 different dashbaord prompts. On hit of first Go, the next gets refreshed
Hope this helps !!!

Hide Dashboard from the Drop Down list - OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1
Hi,
We have got an Index page, which contains links to all Dashboard the user is allowed to see and it is the home page for every user. Apart from that user's can select Dashboard from the drop down list. Is it possible to hide some of the dashboards from the drop down list but still users should continue accessing them from Index page?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
For showing the Dashboards as a drop down list I believe you are using HTML code. If so edit the HTML to remove the dashboards you do not want to see in the drop down.
If the drop down is because of excessive pages shown on the dashboard then under the dashboard properties you can select the hide option for the dashboard. So by default the dashboard page would not show up and the index links would show.
Let me know if this helped.

Changing Date Format in Dashboard prompt drop down list
Hi friends, my dashboard shows a drop down list for dates , which are in format "7/1/2008 12:00:00 AM".
This is defined datetime datatype in sql server. Is there any way to change the date format in dashboard prompt to just "7/1/2008" without doing it in database side.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks and regardsHi... Toony
In Dashboard Prompt, you have option to select i.e. show SQL,
there you write the Logical SQL or Advanced SQL: <em>select cast("timestampCOLUMN" as date) from "PresentationLayerName"</em>
this is simple way without changing anything in rpd side...
And if you want the timestamp column somewhere in some reports you can use that column directly.
If you don't want you need to cast it as DATE.
If your question was answered then put it as answered and mark it as correct... ;)

Including "All column name " in the dashboard prompt drop down list
Hi All,
I have following requirement :
1. Exclude the one of the column value from the drop-down list ( say exclude XYZ from client Name)
2. Add a new “All Clients” to the Column drop-down list and make that the default. This choice will be as if the user went in and selected all of the Clients on the drop-down list.
I am not able to achieve the second point of the requirement . Can anyone help me with this.
Edited by: Surabhi24 on Jul 12, 2012 11:52 AMIf i understand you right you are trying to change "All column values" to "All clients" and you can do that in
Global filter changes file

How to initialize a Prompt drop-down list using a Repository Variable.
Hi,
the aim is to fill a drop-down list of a Year prompt only with year values that can provide data.
This Show list SQL statement works:
SELECT Time."Year" FROM "AnalysisCatalog"
WHERE Time."Year" <= 2007
Using the maxYear Repository Variable does not work:
SELECT Time."Year" FROM "AnalysisCatalog"
WHERE Time."Year" <= @{biServer.variables[’maxYear’]}
Error Codes: G689FFB3:SDKE4UTF
Expression: biServer.variables[’maxYear’]
How can I achive the result without hardcoding the Year 2007?
Mny thx ThomasHi,
Actually this error does not cause any harm except a presentation inconvenience. In my multi-select prompt I am using variable expression with dynamic repository variable. Dashboard results are correct. Just variable's value does not appear on page (error Error Codes: G689FFB3:SDKE4UTF
Expression: @{biServer.variables['CUR_CAL_PER_MONTH_NAME']}). Pushing "GO" button on the prompt fixing the error but it's actually second execution of the dashboard.
Any ideas ?? -
Trying to get Pivot table drop down list to affect bar chart below it
Hi,
In BI Answers I have a pivot table and a bar chart below it. At run time, I can choose a value from the
drop down list for the pivot table, but the bar chart below it doesn't react to the new value chosen
from the pivot table.
Does anyone know a way to get the bar chart to receive new values, permeating down from a table view
pivot table above it on the same report (apart from using prompted filters for the whole report).
Many thanks,
Jakeyou may want to try this...
in you bar chart criteria, set prompted filters of all the dimension fields u want from the pivot table.
in the pivot table, set action links on these dimension columns and loop it back to the current dashboard page.
now, when u click on a value on the pivot table, the dim values of this will be passed as a parameter to the the bar chart filter set and your bar chart will change accordingly...

Pre-Populating Text fields from a Data drop down list using SQL Server
I'm currently trying to update some of our internal forms which are word based or a basic PDF form you fill in by yourself.
I'm connecting to our SQL server as there are databases stored there for an internal bit of software that hold information
I can use to fill in parts the form.
I have a data drop down list that is dynamically linked to the SQL databass and allows you to select a Project Number from that database, what
I want to do after this is selected is to automatically populate some text fields with the Project name, Account handler and other fields held in the
database.
I've had a look online to see if there is a solution but haven't really found anythig that is similar (although I am new to LC so may have seen it
and not realised) and my Java is non existant.
Has anyone tried this and able to point me in the right directions?
I'm using LiveCycle ES2 version 9.0.0.2 from Creative Suit 5.5 on Windows 7

Direct Database Request - Add Drop Down List
Hi,
I have created a direct database request and would like to represent the output in table format. How can I add a page drop down filter, I would like to move two columns as page drop down lists and also be able to view the columns in the table.
I know how to acheive this with a pivot table, but can this also be done with a table layout?
ThanksHere is the answer to your specific question: No, you can't do "page drop downs" in Table View. You will have to use Pivot Table as described in previous posts.
You will have to use dashboard prompts to get your choices. You are probably saying, "but dashboard prompts must be built on a Subject Area column and I can't select it because I am using a direct database as my source. So how do I create the prompt?"
Good question. My question is, on the columns that you need as the "drop down filters," are those columns in any existing Subject Area? I know that your request is built by direct database, but if the specific column you need for your dashboard prompt can be found in a Subject Area, then you can use that Subject Area on which to build your dashboard prompts.
You can add a WHERE condition in your direct database to receive the presentation variables. Read below to learn how:

Need help with drop down list in parameters
Hi All,
I have the following data set:
DEPT1 DEPT2 DEPT3 DEPT4
Commissioner's Office Finance Accounting Accounts Payable
Commissioner's Office Finance Accounting Fiscal Analysis & Repo
Commissioner's Office Finance Accounting
Commissioner's Office Planning,Asset Mgt Asset Management Inventory & Tracking
Commissioner's Office Planning,Asset Mgt Asset Management Mobility & Congestion
Commissioner's Office Planning,Asset Mgt Asset Management Roadway Safety
Commissioner's Office Planning,Asset Mgt Asset Management
Commissioner's Office DesignProj Mgt & Tec Bridge Dsgn Insp Hyd
In plus i have four parameters with searchlight options, the problem is when i select "Finance" from DEPT2 and in the next selection level i'm seeing all the departments "Accounting,Asset Management and Bridge Dsgn Insp Hyd" insted of just "Accounting". What i want is if i select a department in DEPT2, in the next drop down list(DEPT3) i want to see only the departement corresponding to the one i selected in dept2. Please need help.
ThanksHi
First of all you need to be using Discoverer 10g or 11g Plus not 9.0.4. Assuming you have the right version you need to present the parameters in the correct order. You can change the order on the parameters screen by selecting Tools | Parameters from the toolbar. You then use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to place them in the right order so that DEPT1 is offered first, followed by DEPT2, then DEPT3 and then DEPT4.
Next, you need to check the radion button on the bottom of the right-hand side that allows linking of parameters then you make DEPT2 dependent upon DEPT1, with DEPT3 dependent upon DEPT2 and so on.
While this works without hierarchies it works best when you have a hierarchy in place and even better when there is a composite index on the 4 items.
Best wishes

Custom drop down list for the filter for BEX report
Hi, all:
I am writing a query for a BEX report that prompts the user to enter a value for a field "GL account". I would like to have the user select from a limited number of GL options rather than have the whole Chart of accounts show up. Is there a way to make a "custom" drop down list for the filter?
Thanks!
JennyYou need to make your GL account info object as an authorization object. And in the info object ,for BEx you need to select the option "only authorized values".
Create an analyis authorization on gl account and assign the restricted set of GL accounts to the user. Asign this analysis authorization to the user.In the query restrict this infoobject with an authorization variable. This would solve your purpose.user would be able to see only a selected set of GL accounts for which he is authorized. -
Adding a *Not* Null Entry to a Data-Bound Drop Down List
How do I add a not null entry to a data-bound drop down list? I am supposed to have something like this:
<html:select property="Korisnik1" >
<html:option value="0000">
(Not null value)
</html:option>
<html:option value="-1">
(Null value)
</html:option>
<html:optionsCollection label="prompt" value="index" property="Korisnik1.displayData" />
</html:select >
In case the value 0000 is marked the value should be inserted in to the database. The code above displays the value but insert doesn't work.I think that in this case that article is not what's required Shay as the question related to a "No Null" entry. The answer would be to add it into the list that is used to populate the list in the first place - generally by adding a "union select from dual" to the query that generates the list values.

Drop Down List in Grid is dependent on Dropdown List at Level 0
Hi All,
In my secondary page, there are three Drop-Down List Boxes D1, D2 and D3.
D3 is in grid at Level 1 on secondary page and the prompt Table in D3 have 3 Keys.Key 1 and Key 2 are the same field as D1 and D2.As D3 is dependent on D1 and D2.
First time, D3 remains empty even i select values in D1 and D2 but when i EndModal(1) and then come back , D3 has values.
What is happening ?
What is the solution of this scenario ?
Thanks for your help in advance.D3 is in GRID_RECORD at Level 1.
As Grid Record is totally dependent on D1 and D2.
therefore, On field Change of D2 ,
I delete the Grid Record,
for &i = GRID_RECORD.ActiveRowCount to 1 Step -1
GRID_RECORD.DeleteRow(&i);
End-for;
As a Result, The Default Row only present at Grid_Record, and D3 has no values.
so i also include in field change of D2
for &i = GRID_RECORD.ActiveRowCount to 1 Step -1
GRID_RECORD.DeleteRow(&i);
End-for;
Local Rowset &RowSetGRID_RECORD;
&RowSetGRID_RECORD =GetLevel0()(1).GetRowSet(Scroll.GRID_RECORD);
&RowSetGRID_RECORD(1).GRID_RECORD.KEY1.VALUE = D1.Value;
&RowSetGRID_RECORD(1).GRID_RECORD.KEY2.VALUE = D2.Value;
Now D3 has values.
Am i doing right, or there is any better solution ? -

Edited by: Sudipa Das on Oct 4, 2008 11:54 AMHello Sudipa
I do not think you can have editable fields other than checkboxes in ALV trees. In sample report ZUS_SDN_ALV_TREE_DEMO_1 I have set the fieldcatalog property LS_FCAT-EDIT = 'X' for all fields yet only LOEVM is editable because it is defined as checkbox, too.
However, you may use the LINK_CLICK of the ALV tree (set LS_FCAT-HOTSPOT = 'X' in fieldcatalog) to trigger e.g. a seach help for input.

Drop down list for values at parameters forconfigurable product in CRM 2007
Hi All,
I want to create configurable service products in CRM 2007 connected with SAP IS-U.
I uses the simplified product configuration, container approach. Hierarchy, settypes are set.
Then I created parameters like for example discount, I can set in the WEB UI default value for this parameters, like 5%.
But I need to have more variables for one parameter.
For example:
The agent sells an electricity product to the customer, and wants to configure the product in the sales process, give a discount from 5, 10, 15%.
This variables 5,10,15% I like to get somehow in a drop down list, that the agent has a choice wich discount he gives.
Thanks for any answers!
GaborPatrick,
In PPOMA, did you check the requester for inheritance? If the values are maintained at a higher level, is the inhertiance working to the requester level in the org structure?
Regards, Dean.
Edit: I just your reply to the previous posting, do you have one set as a default?
