Data control as webservice.

Hi ,
Can we consume a datacontrol deployed in webcenter spaces as WebService.
Is there a way to deploy a custom webservice into Webcenter Spaces.
Thanks,

(1) I think what is happening is that your page calls out to the Web service when you first run it without any parameter. This is why you get the error and also the reason that deffer works to solve this.
I think a solution would be to have your Web service handle the case of receiving an empty parameter.
(2) When it is ready :-)
(3.2) right click the jsf page and choose "go to page defenition" you can then edit it using the structure pane and the property inspector.
(3.3) you can run in debug mode, the code for ADF will be available when we go production, and with it a lot of more documentation.

  • Issue with webservice data control while invokin bpel process from ADF side

    Hello Experts,
    we are creating webservice data control to invoke bpel process from ADF side.
    When I run the application and inovoke the bpel every thing is working fine.
    But when we are changeing the instances from DEV to SIT the bpel url(hostname and port) will change.
    So we just edited DataControls.dcx file and we just replaced the wsdl url and trying to run the applicaiton.
    This time the applicaiton is not invoking the bpel process.
    If I remove the webservice data control and recreate it with new WSDL url then it is working fine.
    Can any one tell us what the exact issue is. Is there any other files do i need to modify or etc.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Url service data control - problem while  POSTing to a restful webservice

    Hi,
    I am trying to call a restful webservice to add a new employee .I have created the url service data control. The service method consumes XML.
    When i am creating the url service datacontrol I selected the http method as POST and giving the servicepath and servicename as the source. After providing the xsd's path and all , when I test the url connection, I am getting the following error message:
    URL Test: Received Error: Method Not Allowed
    This might be because the clicking of the test url button is sending the get request, but the actual method is POST.
    Now under the data controls navigator, If i view the newly created data control, i could see the loadData(Object) method which i assume is for retrieving the data from the service. But since i have mentioned the method as POST, why such a method is created? Also if its there, can I use the same for insert and update? I have used this loadData (Object) method to create a button which calls the webservice upon click. Under the data control property inspector, i changed the supportsupdate attribute's value to true. But when i am trying to save the employee from the jspx page, I am getting the following message in the integrated weblogic's log
    Couldn't get access to the data source. Cause Unsupported Media Type exception in rest service
    And on the server side I am getting the following error message:
    No message body reader has been found for request class Employee, ContentType application/octet-stream.
    I think the request is not going as XML. But while creating the datacontrol i have specified the xsd document for the iput xml request. Does ADF automatically creates the XML from the input parametres? If it does not, then what could be done to achieve that? The default actionListener of the submit button is #{bindings.loadData.execute}. Do i have to override it to send the XML request? Or have I missed anything in trying to achieve what i intend?

    Hi Frank,
    I had specified the HTTP method as POST as well as PUT. But the same error is appearing in the both the cases.
    URL Test: Received Error: Method Not Allowed
    And when I am clicking on the 'Test URL Connection' , I can't see any option of selecting the HTTP method. This option only appears in the step 2 of creating the URL service data control where we mention the URL endpoint and the source.
    What could be the reason for the error.

    That is what exactly I am trying right now. I am binding each of my page fragment outputText item in to backing bean and by that way trying to populate the values.
    But the issue here is, the backing bean method doesn't getting any value until I hit any of the link or the button in the fragment. While loading the page the bean set and get is null. If i hit any link or button it is filled up with the vaule. As per my design, I would like to populate the bean method along with page load before any user action. But cant able to do this!! :(
    Below is my sample code what I am trying right now
            <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="#{uiBundle.NETID}" id="plam13">
                      <af:outputText value="#{bindings.netid.inputValue}" id="ot4" binding="#{UserDataBean.netId}"/>

    private RichOutputText netId;
    static String netidVal;
        public void setNetId(RichOutputText netId) {
           netidVal= netId.getValue() == null? "":netId.getValue().toString();

  • WSRP vs Webservice Data control

    Hi all,
    I am developing an webcenter portal framework application using Webcenter 11.1.1.6.0
    I have to invoke a webservice in my application.  The Webservice saves the data to database.
    Which one is more preferable to invoke a webservice in Webcenter Portal framework application. Is it Webcenter Data control or WSRP.
    What are the advantages of each of them and when we have to use them.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi.
    If you plan to use a "re-usable" component to use your WSDL then follow one of the next:
    1) Create a Re-usable bounded Task Flow (with Model project that include your integration of your WSDL) and add it to WebCenter Portal.
    2) Create an independent WSRP Portlet consuming your WSDL.
    From my opinion, I prefer the option of create a separate ADF Task Flow using WSDL integration via Data Control or Java Client.

  • Issues with result data display on ADF page from a Webservice data control

    Hi,
    I created a Webservice Data control and created a JSF to display the webservice response to the screen.
    I dragged and dropped the input paramater to the JSF form.Also i did the same for the output result also.i drag & drop the result tag to the JSF(selected the read only form).
    This webservice is a complex input and output params.
    After supplying the input param to the jsf and clicked on submit, the request is going and hitting the webservice and getting proper result set also.
    But the issue is , the result is not displayed on the JSF screen.
    Is there any configuration needed to diaply the content on ths screen?

  • Calling webservice in code using data control ADF Mobile

    Hi,
    I am calling webservice in code using data control. Below image is show my binding.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ufjnnd67mfaeucq/Snap%202013-05-13%20at%2011.49.17.png
    My code is :
    ValueExpression ve1 = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.WeatherDescriptionIterator}", AmxIteratorBinding.class); // Using IteratorBinding
    AmxIteratorBinding iter = (AmxIteratorBinding) ve1.getValue(AdfmfJavaUtilities.getAdfELContext());
    GenericType row = null;
    iter.getIterator().first();
    iter.release();
    for(int i = 0; i < iter.getIterator().getTotalRowCount(); i++)
    row = (GenericType)iter.getCurrentRow();
    Integer s = new Integer(i+100);
    row.setAttribute("deptId", s);
    This code is work fine in POJO data control. But When I used this code for calling webservice data control then i get following error.
    can not find property bindings.
    And I also use below code but same error occur.
    ValueExpression ve1l = AdfmfJavaUtilities.getValueExpression("#{bindings.WeatherDescription.collectionModel}", AmxCollectionModel.class); // Using CollectionModel
    AmxCollectionModel model = (AmxCollectionModel)ve1l.getValue(AdfmfJavaUtilities.getAdfELContext());
    Object[] myArr = model.getKeys();
    for (int x = 0; x < myArr.length; x++)
    Object myObj = myArr[x];
    Map provider = (Map)model.getProviders().get(myObj);
    String deptName = provider.get("deptName").toString();
    }

    !!!! IMPORTANT !!!!
    The use of +*#{data.view_FlexFieldDisplayPageDef.publicflexfieldflow1.regionModel}"*+ in your code is an *absolute no-go and serious coding issue* as there is no guarantee that this PageDef file exists in the application you use the declarative component in. Even if you don't plan to use the declarative component anywhere else, you should pass the model reference as an input attribute to the declarative component so it can be configured by each use of the component

  • Creating a adf page based on webservice data control

    hello
    i am using latest version of jdev 11g from otn.
    i created a VO based on EO and define a view criteria as well. i added that to a AM and exposed it as web service and deployed to a wls server.
    now i wish to created a adf page based on it so i created a ws data control based on the wsdl.
    in the data control section now i see service as findSearchOrder. When i try to drop it on the page it created a adf form with two input boxes findControl and findCriteria.
    So, I am not able to understand how exactly these are going to map to the actual search parameters?
    Please advise

    If you want to retrieve all records, you can set them to null.
    But of course, it depends on what you want to archive (I suppose you want a search form?).
    Please give us your complete JDev version. (Help > About > About tab)

  • Java to access Webservice Data control?

    We created a Data Control from a Web Service.
    My question is can one use this Data Control using POJO.
    I think you should be able to do it but cannot find good documents or examples. Any pointers is much appreciated.

    Hi,
    if you mean a POJO in a SJF or JSP/STruts application, then yes, you can. You expose the data control methods on the binding and access the binding layer. If you mean using it from a non ADF application in a plain POJO, then the answer is no. In this case you would use a WS proxy class

    I have also tried invoking this through a regular ADF application and that works fine with an int[]. It looks like something specific to the ADF Mobile SOAP layer.
    Is this a bug or a restriction in the framework? Any workarounds that has worked for anyone?

    No luck. A WS DC method call with a simple parameter (java.lang.String or java.lang.Integer) works fine but I can't get it to work when there is an array input.
    I have tried WS methods with int arrays and simple string arrays without any luck. All of them result in a cannot serialize error.
    I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Are there any working WS Datacontrol samples with array inputs?

  • WebService data control data persistence issue

    Hi,
    We are using one Web Service data control on two jspx pages of application. The attributes from the data control are added on both the pages as data binding.
    Scenario:: We submit some data from Page1 using web service data control and move to Page2. Fill some data on Page2 and again submit the request to Web Service data control and after successful response move back to Page1. Same is repeated again and again for this scenario.
    Now the issue is, we submit some data from Page1, move to Page2, submit some data from Page2 and come back to Page1. If we repeat this process, then while submitting the data on Page1, the data that we submitted earlier on Page2 also get submitted, which is not expected. We only want to submit the data as per the binding on that page. Page1 is in unbounded taskflow and Page2 is in bounded taskflow.
    We have tried by setting possible values like :: CacheResults: false on iterator, Refresh condition: Ifneeded, UsePersistentStructure to false on data control. Also tried to reset and clear the data control using APIs and resetInputState on bindings. But nothing is working. The only method that is working is ClearForRecreate on Page1 iterator. But since its internal method this might not be good to use it. Also after using this we stated to receive intermittent error stating AttributeList$Itr can not be cast to String and some times argument is not an array exception.
    Please let me know, how i can ensure that correct data is sent to web service data control.
    Using JDev 11.1.1.6.
    Thanks

    Solved by removing the Share Data control option in taskflow.
    Thanks

  • How can I filter a table from Data Control without enter query

    I have a table from a web service data control based on WSDL.
    I want to filter the table without input query at filter text box. Without filter text box, each would filter the table with a hardcoded query internally.
    For example, when user click A menu button then it filters the table where type = '1' and B menu button filters the table by type='2' and C menu button filters the table by type=' ' .
    How can I filter the table without enter query?
    Could anyone point me to a solution please.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    when you created the table, did you try selecting the "filter" option. Select the table and go to the Property Inspctor. In the tool bar of the Property Inspector there is an icon to change the configuration. Its adding filter filter fields for the user to search in.
    Option 2: The data of the Web Service actually is held in the iterators. If you wanted to filter the WebService query, I would not use the WS DC but a JAX-WS proxy in a POJO to fetch the WS Data. Then have the Data Control created from the POJO. You could have a method exposed on the POJO that allows you to filter the internally held data

  • Web Service Data Control ADF

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an application using Web service Data control in Jdeveloper 11g TP4. This web servcie returns complex data type: that is an object.
    while creating data control using wizard : Web service Data control, I am able to get the data control having input patrameter and return object and on exapnding that in data control palette I am able to get all atrribute of that objects.
    Data control Palette:
    operation : viewRequest(String)
    Parameter
    REQID
    Return
    viewrequest_result
    ReqID
    Product Code
    Quantity
    Price
    I have created a simple JSF form by draging and droping the components fron Data control palette. There are two problems that I am facing while running the application:
    1. Getting NullPointerException for the input parameter stating that input parameter can not be null: Error while building SOAP request
    oracle.adfinternal.model.adapter.webservice.provider.soap.SOAPProvider setParameters
    Value for parameter 'USRID' cannot be null
    2. Setting that parameter with a default value I am able to call the web servcie and web service is successfully get invoked too and returns the response but the problem is that on Jdeveloper JSF screen it is not showing the output. I have created a read only form by dragging and dropping the return parameter from Data control palette. Even though the reponse is not getting dispalyed.
    Do i need to do anything more or I am missing any step. I have referrrd the link http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wsadf/adfcomplexwstypes.html : stating the complex return type handling in Jdeveloper 10.3. Do I need to create a Java Bean for the complex type even though data control is having all object attribute of complex data type.
    Thanks in advance.

    Please make sure that the service's return strcture follows the same strutre as described in the WSDL file. In almost all of the cases like this, I found that service returns doesn't exactly match the structure definition. In that case the WSDC fails to parse the output the way it's told to and the EL used in the pages will fetch nothing, hence a black page shows up.

  • Getting errors when creating Web Services Data Control in Jdev 11.1.2.4.0

    Hi
    I am on Jdev 11.1.2.4.0 Build JDEVADF_11.1.2.4.0_GENERIC_130421.1600.6436.1
    When I am trying to create Web Services Data Control for SOAP, it gives 'Invalid WSDL File' for any WSDL file and shows following error:
    oracle/adfdtinternal/model/adapter/webservice/utils/WSUtils$DefaultAuthPrompter
    and in 'feedback' tab:
    Already logged bug for [NoClassDefFoundError in o.j.webservices.wsdl.CachedWSDLReader:394]
    Also if I try to create a new Request in HTTPAnalyzer and give a WSDL it shows following exception:
    java.io.IOException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdeveloper/webservices/wsdl/CachedWSDLReader$SimpleAuthPrompt

    followed by "The string <WSDL URL> is not a valid WSDL".
    If I try to create a REST WS Datacontrol, it shows error:
    NoClassDefFoundError in o.adf.model.connection.url.HttpUrlConnection:146
    Entire stack trace is attached.
    Please let me know if these are known issues and if there is any workaround.
    Thanks

    Don't see any way to attach file. So here is the entire trace:
