Data Conversion(ORACLE 8i to ORACLE 8)

i have oracle database in Oracle 8i and Same time i have Personal Oracle in my Labtop system...if any possible to convert Oracle 8i data into Oracle 8..if i use import/export command it gives header information failure error.

Dear Farook,
Avoid importing a higher version of the export (.dmp) file than the target database. Whenever a lower version EXPort utility runs with a higher version of the Oracle Server, categories of database objects that did not exist in the lower version are excluded from the export.
One thing you can try is to do the Oracle8i database export using the EXP utility from Personal Oracle8, and then try importing that particular export (.dmp) file into your Personal Oracle8 database.
Ciao!

  • GL Data Conversion from Legacy to Oracle EBS

    Hi All,
I am tasked with converting legacy data into GL. I have worked on other conversions like supplier, AR and AP conversions but never worked on GL conversion, so I don't know how and where to start, what are the pre-requisites for entering data into gl_interface table how to ensure that data is correct in the .csv file etc.
Kindly request you all to guide me in right direction. Hope to hear from you all very soon!!! :)
    Regards

    Hi,
When you talk about GL-Data it is the trial balance to be loaded from legacy to oracle applications.
You can use Web-ADI to upload it ,the check list are
The balance for each account comibnation in the legacy system to be mapped to GL-Oracle code combination balance
With respect to open AR, AP Invoices if the invoices are converted using a control account for migration in GL then
the the balance transfered from AP,AR need not be reversed in GL from the source receivables and payables.
In case if the same account combination are for migrating the balances from AP,AR to GL ..Then the balances transferred from AP,AR should be reversed ..so that it does not affect the TB-GL-Balance
Finally ensure that the balance for the TB-tallys with your legacy system and upload it using Web-ADI ,import and
    review and post it.
Hope this points helps your GL-Data conversion.

  • Issue with Date Conversion when loading XML File into Oracle 10g Database

    Hello all,
I have the interface shown in the screenshot below. In it, amongst other actions, I'm mapping an XML file element representing a date to an Oracle table column defined as DATE. The source and target columns are highlighted in the screenshot.
When I execute the interface, I get the following error message:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException at java.sql.Date.valueOf(Date.java:103)
I'm assuming this refers to the date conversion!
I've already tried replacing SRC_TRADES.DEAL_DATE with TO_DATE( SRC_TRADES.DEAL_DATE, 'DD/MM/YYYY' ) in the Implementation tab. This function was not recognised when I executed the interface, so it didn't work! The date value in the XML file is in DD/MM/YYYY format.
I'm guessing that Oracle SQL Date functions don't work in the Implementation tab. Please could somebody let me know:
    1. Which Date Conversion function I could use instead?
    2. Where I can find a reference for the methods/functions I can use in the Implementation tab (if such a reference exists)?
    Cheers.
    James

    Hi.
Try to change the execution area to staging area. After You change it, write in the mapping box just SRC_TRADERS.DEAL_DATE. When You use TO_DATE, the source field typu should be varchar2, not date (as it is in your source datastore)

  • Encoding Problem: Losing German Umlaute from gathering data from Oracle 8i

my problem does concerns the diplay of german Umlaute such as äöüß etc. The OS is NW65 out of the box with Apache 2.0.49 and tomcat 4.1.28, JVM 1.4.2_02 and JDBC-driver Oracle 8i 8.1.7 JDBC Driver.
The Data containing Umlaute which are retreived from the Database does somehow lose it´s Umlaute. The Umlaut which are coded in the servlet directly in order to generate the regular HTML does display the Umlaute without any problem.
The same servlet and request from a Unix Enviroment does work fine. We have checked all Codepage settings (Java, NetWare, Tomcat etc).

    Hi Sven and Ingmar,
I will try to kill 2 birds with one stone here. First of all you should check the definition of your current database character set and make sure that it can support all the characters that you need to store in your database.
    Please check out
    http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/iso.asp
WE8ISO8859P9 is for Turkish and WE8ISO8859P1 is for western European (without Euro support).
Next you need to set your client NLS_LANG character set (eg. for your SQL*Plus seesion), so that Oracle can convert your client operating system characters correctly into your database character set. The NLS_LANG character set also determines how SQL*Plus interpret/display your characters upon retrieval from the db.
In both of your cases , I believed that the client NLS_LANG setting was not defined , hence this was defaulting to AMERICAN_AMERICA.US7ASCII. This is telling SQL*PLUS that the your client operating system can handle ASCII data only , hence all the accented characters are converted to ASCII during insertion into the database. Likewise upon data retrieval.
If you are running SQL*PLUS client on English Windows then you NLS_LANG character set should be WE8MSWIN1252 and for Turkish Windows it should set to TR8MSWIN1254 .
If the client character set and the database character set are the same , Oracle does not perform any data conversion, that's why if you use a US7ASCII database and set you NLS_LANG character set to US7ASCII .then you can insert all the accented Latin characters , Japanese , Chinese etc. This configuration is not supported, and it can cause many issues.
For more information on character set configuration and possible problems.

  • COVERT DB2 DATE TO ORACLE DATE

I AM MIGRATING DB2/AS400 DATA TO ORACLE.
IN THIS I HAVE DB2 DATE WHICH IS IN CYYMMDD FORMAT AND I HAVE TO CONVERT DD/MM/YYYY FROM TO ORACLE.
WHICH IS THE BETTER WAY TO PROCESS THIS TYPE OF DATA.
    COULD YOU PLEASE HELP ME

    HI,
    The simplest way is:
Take a look at the default date format at your Oracle (you can change it if necessary) and then use some DB2 Data do Character function to format it like Oracle default format.
Oracle will do an implicit conversion.
    Does it help you?

  • Multilingual data file Oracle - 8.1.7

I am using 'sqlldr' to insert data into Oracle 8.1.7 database(charset UTF-8, OS=Win NT) from a datafile encoded in UTF-8. This datafile contains data in English, Japanese, Chinese languages. All rows were inserted into the database but I couldn't see Japanese and Chinese data while making a SELECT from the table.
I know I have to set some parameter called NLS_LANG but where should I set it and to what before starting 'sqlldr' utility?

I think your problem is that you are experiencing an unwanted conversion. Your nls_lang setting needs to be UTF8 from where you are running SQLLDR. I advise you to carefully look at the National Language Support Guide before proceeding. But to give you an answer. Use the following views to check your current environment.
NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS - Shows the current NLS parameters of the database, including the database character set.
NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS - parameters set by NLS_LANG or alter session
From what you are telling me you are going utf8 file -> utf8 database character set
Before running sqlldr you need to change the nls_lang setting for your session to utf8 to avoid conversion.
The client character set is set by the NLS_LANG parameter. This has the format
    <language>_<territory>.<client character set>
On the UNIX platform, NLS_LANG is set as an environment variable.
On the Windows platform, NLS_LANG is set globally in the registry and you can override it by setting the NLS_LANG local environment in your command prompt.
The NLS_LANG parameter has three components(language, territory, and charset) in the form:
    NLS_LANG = language_territory.charset
The following lists some commonly used values for NLS_LANG.
    JAPANESE_JAPAN.JA16SJIS
    AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
You must also set the characterset to utf8 in sqlldr. Syntax is: CHARACTERSET char_set_name
    null

  • Migration of data from Oracle to Sybase ASIQ

    Hello !
I want to know , if there is any way to migrate the database from oracle 8i to sybase ASIQ ( Adaptive Server IQ 12.4). The database has 14 tables in which some tables have more than 3 lakh records. I have tried to convert the tables into tab delimited text files ( by using ADO Explorer software) and then load data in ASIQ ( Adaptive Server IQ 12.4) from these flat files. The process is working fine with tables which have less data. But for large tables ( with 3 lakh records) the ADO explorer hangs in between conversion. Is there any tool in Oracle which can migrate data from tables to tab delimited text files ?
or is there any tool which can directly migrate data from oracle 8i to Sybase ASIQ directly ?

Can you use Sybase Component Integration Services (CIS). Can you create the Oracle database as a remote database and then do selects against the Oracle tables directly into the Sybase tables. I am not sure if this is available in IQ server. If not then if you have a regular Sybase server could you do it through there somehow and then move the database from Sybase to IQ.

  • Get date from Oracle when local time zone is different from Oracle time zon

    Hi!
    Local machine time zone= +2
    Oracle time zone= +1
I set date to Oracle using java.sql.Date.
From application I save date at 00:30 clock and send e.g. 28.06.2002, but in Oracle date is save as 27.06.2002 01:00 (hour=01 , I suppose that is because java.sql.Date hasn't time the Oracle set it time = time zone=+1) And when I get date from Oracle I get incorrect date. In SQL I don't use date masks. Maybe solution is to use java.sql.Timestamp object (when save date to Oracle) instead of java.sql.Date?
But if I save date at e.g. 01:00 clock and send e.g. 28:06.2002 in Oracle, date is save as 28.06.2002 01:00 and when I read from Oracle I get correct date.

solution is to use java.sql.Timestamp object (when

  • Extracting data from Oracle to a flat file

I'm looking for options to extract data a table or view at a time to a text file. Short of writing the SQL to do it, are there any other ideas? I'm dealing with large volumes of data, and would like a bulk copy routine.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there any script which i can use for pulling data from tables to a flat file and then import that data to other DB'sFlat file is adequate only from VARCHAR2, NUMBER, & DATA datatypes.
Other datatypes present a challenge within text file.
A more robust solution is to use export/import to move data between Oracle DBs.

  • Exporting Data From Oracle 10g to Access

    Hi Experts,
I need to export data from oracle apps shcema(each and every object in it) to MS ACCESS File.
Please let me know how to do it
    Thanks and Regards,
    Andy

Since you did not provide details of what you are planning to do, a very simple, however, depending upon the number of your tables, very labour intensive solution:
Although being not very familiar with access, I think access offers a means to import csv files.
So e.g. using SQL*Plus you can execute the following steps.
    set pagesize <nnn>
    set linesize <nnn>
set colsep ',' -- You may choose other special characters to separate columns of your output
    spool <csv-file>
    select * from <tab>;
spool offWherever you see <nnn> exchange by appropriate numeric values to get just one page as result and to configure your line size to hold a complete record in one output line.
Replace <csv-file> and <tab> by the name of your output file to be read in to access and by the name of your table, respectively.

    Oracle version: 8i - 9.0.x.x
There was no option that I can recall or could find. All the parsing of XML that I've done in 8i was via the xmldom package.
    Oracle version: 9.2.x.x - 10.1.x.x
This is were Oracle introduced extract, extractValue and TABLE(XMLSequence(extract())) for dealing with repeating nodes.
    Oracle version: 10.2.x.x
Oracle introduced XMLTable as a replacement for the previous methods since it could handle all three methods for extracting data from XML. At that point, Oracle stopped enhancing extract/extractValue in terms of performance and focused on XMLTable. In 10.2.0.1 and .2, XMLTable was implemented via Java and in .3 it was moved into the kernel so performance from .3 onwards should be better than the older 9.2 / 10.1 methods. If not, feel free to open a ticket with Oracle support. Apparently Oracle also introduced XMLQuery as well but I've never heard of many using that in 10.2
