Data laod using generic

Hello friends,
I have a custom table in which the data is populated .
I need to extract the data as far as i know we have to use generic extraction method to extract data from custom table.
ALso there are 8 millions of data and when we use geneic is there any problem in extracting if there is large volume of data? and how the delta will work in this case??

yes, you need a generic extractor.
there is no problem with 8 milltion records for generic extractors.
and how the delta will work in this case??
you need to create a FAKE delta using TimeStamp, etc.

I try to create a generic data source using the Function Module via the transaction RSO2. I got the following error messages.

Hi,
Are your CURR fields refereded to a currency field of your structure?? Maybe the problem is that the field containing the currency is refered to other table/structure and it has to be one of your structure fields.

I want to create a generic data extractor using a function module within the BW system. i.e. the extractor will run in BW and and store the data in a cube( in BW). No R/3 is invloved. I proceeded as follows:
1. Created a structure through se11.
2. Created a function module. But while defining "E_T_DATA" in the "Tables" section of the function module, I am getting the error "TABLES parameters are obsolete". I defined as follows:
E_T_DATA TYPE ZBW_EXTRACT
ZBW_EXTRACT is the name of the structure.
What should i do in this case ?

Hello Satya,
The message "TABLES parameters are obsolete" is just a warning and not an error. The structure of the interface is strict (defined by SAP). You should opt to proceed even if you receive the warning.

Hi,
I went to se80. Copied the function module "RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE" to my function group. When i tried to change the associated type from "SFLIGHT" to my own structure, it again gives a warning that "TABLES parameters are obsolete!". It does not allow me to either save, check or activate the function module. What should i do ?
Please reply urgently.

Can anybody tell me about the Code Page setting used in Generic Data Source in SAP BW 3.5?
I am extracting data from a Master Table using Generic data Source, but the data which is in Ukrane language is getting loaded as "#". Where do we set the Code Page for it?

To continue with earlier question, is there any particular setting for a master data, to load non english data as a text of master data?
I want to load TEXT of a master in Ukraine language. I am extracting this text from the P table of same master (From Description Field). But TEXT is not getting populated whenever it is Ukraine language. English TEXT is populated correctly.

Problem during extraction using generic data sources

Hi
While performing extraction(master data) using generic data sources I am getting a problem.
while selecting application component, I am unable to find SD to select it.What should I do?
I selected CRM as application component and did the extraction , it is successful.
But what about if we want to select SD? I am guessing it as an installation problem ... Anyone plz help me

Hi Deepthi,
Looks like the RFC connection between source system and BW system is broken..
Contact your basis team to check the connection what went wrong.
once the connection is re-established you can gohead ...
Try out this procedure
Type Transaction SM59.
a.) Open the RFC Destinations.
b.) Find your Source System and double click on it.
c.) Technical setting should contain information regarding your source
system
d.) Logon Information should contain source system client and name &
password for you remote logon.
**Suggestion : our remote name for our R/3 was ALEREMOTE. We use
BWREMOTE so that we can monitor without confusion.
e.) Execute your 'Test Connection' & 'Remote Logon'. You connection
should be You should NOT be prompted for a password.
f.) Repeat above to verify RFCs for other systems

No HS to remote SQL Server Data Source using NT Authentication?

I am attemping to use Generic Connectivity to pull SQL Server 2000 data into 10g.
We have the DSN configured, the oracle files modified properly (we have done similar setups before), and are able to successfully tnsping the SQL Server.
However, after creating our database, when trying to execute a query against the remote source I receive the following error message:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Generic Connectivity Using ODBC][Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
Server]Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. (SQL State: 28000;
SQL Code: 18456)
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from IDW_LINK
As the message indicates that the error is coming from the SQL Server, I assume a connection is being established.
I remember reading postings here from a couple years back about HS not being able to connect to remote SQL Servers when NT Authentication is required. Is this still the case?
I did in fact provide to the link my "domain\username", "password" combination that has access to the sql server, but this is of course using NT Authentication.
Any ideas on why HS would be sending "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS" to the sql server? Is this still the already existing problem of no NT Auth for remote data sources?

Data persistence using SQL/J

Hi !
I am trying to achieve data persistence using SQL/J.
The env / tools that I am using are WLS 4.5.1
Oracle 8i, SQL/J.
SQL/J works fine with the two - tier applications but with WLS the connectivity is not been arrived at.
Any help would be wewlcome.

Are you using an Oracle JDBC driver in WLS or not?
(1) If the answer is no, then you should replace:
oracle.sqlj.runtime.Oracle.connect(<url>,<user>,<pwd>);
(and similarly Oracle.getConnection())
with:
import sqlj.runtime.ref.DefaultContext;
<load JDBC driver, if necessary>
DefaultContext.setDefaultContext(new DefaultContext(<url>,<user>,<pwd>,false));
(2) Actually, forget (1): in the middle tier you should never use a default context at all (every thread must have its own connection context):
DefaultContext ctx = new DefaultContext(...);
#sql [ctx] { ..SQL statement.. };
(3) If you do not use an Oracle JDBC driver, then say in your sqlj command line:
-profile=false
(this omits Oracle customization and makes the .ser file smaller)
Also, you only need runtime.zip at runtime, anyway. And for non-Oracle JDBC drivers you can remove the whole oracle.* hierarchy from runtime.zip.
(4) You do need to deploy those .ser files with the bean. Or use -ser2class and deploy class files with the bean.
(5) Finally, it appears the WLS deployment tool has not heard about SQLJ - it may only understand .java files. In this case you have to translate all .sqlj files (and the .ser files) into .java files before putting these into WLS:
(a) run SQLJ over the .sqlj source with the -compile=false option. This produces .java files.
(b) you can also turn the .ser files into .java files by running:
java sqlj.runtime.profile.util.SerProfileToClass -nc *.ser
(issue the line without arguments to get an option synopsis)
You'd want to do (a) and (b) via a Makefile and not do it by hand more than once.
(c) During deployment time and runtime you must have runtime.zip (modulo comments in (3)) in the respective CLASSPATHS of the deployment tool and of the server.
Sorry these answers were rather generic - I still could not tell exactly how you are failing in WLS.

Cannot create data source using custom third-party driver

Hi,
I've just installed Weblogic Server 10.3.6 and I'm getting problems creating a generic data source using my own third party jdbc driver which I had no problems doing in Weblogic Server 10.0; this is what I did in 10.0;
before starting server i put my driver jar file (and any jar files it needed) in the lib folder of the domain user project which weblogic appends to the classpath during server startup
inside weblogic console -
1. first page - provided a data source name and jndi name and selected 'other' for database type
2. second page - selected 'other' for jdbc driver
3. third page - deselected the global transactions
4. fourth page - provided database name, username, host name, port, and password.
5. fifth page - provided driver class, url, database user name and password (didn't bother with the test)
6. Selected target server
I then saved and activated changed and was done.
This what I did for 10.3.6
did the same thing I did for 10.0 before server start up
inside weblogic console -
1. first page - provided data source name and jndi name and selected 'other' for database type
2. second page - selected 'other' for jdbc driver
3. third page - deselected the support global transactions
4. fourth page - here's where things are different - page only asked for database username and password, which I give.
One this page I get a criptic error saying 'errors must be corrected before proceeding' - no other message as to what these errors might be either in the console or the cmd window of the server. I tried making changes to the provider authenticiation of the security realm but no luck. I tried following password creation requirements, I even tried proceeding to the next page without entering anything on this page, all no luck. I have no idea what's going on.

I've fixed the class issue but am struggling a bit with SQL Server authentication. I'm running in mixed mode (originally set to Windows authentication but I've modified the security setting), I've enabled TCP/IP and Named Pipes, I've created a user (who I can log in to SQL Server Mgmt Studio successfully with), but still get a connection refused error.

Several single value selection in InfoPackage Data selection using Routine

I am trying to extract data from a table(containing Ticket data) in R/3 using Generic extractor with table. As the table is not supporting the delta functionality i have to do daily full load for more than 5 lak records.
I dont want all the tickets from R/3, i just need the tickets which are open. Unfortunately there is no field in R/3 table which indicates Ticket status. But in BW i have a DSO where i can get the tickets along with their status.
Now what i want to do is:
in the Infopackage i want to give the dataselection for ticket, whose status is open which will be calculated in ABAP code by lookup to the DSO. Is this possible?
I know that in ABAP routine for Data selection we can give single values and range values. but here i just want to give several single values. That means if suppose i have 4 tickets T1,T2,T3,T4 in the DSO and if T1 and T4 are open tickets, then i have to get the data from R/3 just for T1 and T4.
in the above case if we use range then the low and high values in the range will be T1 and T4 respectively and the data pulled from R/3 will be from T1 - T4 ie all T1,T2,T3 & T4. but i need just T1 and T4.
Please share your ideas. also please send the code as i am not an ABAPer.
If Several single value selection is not possible at least send the code for the range values.

you can write a code like this in the ABAP routine in data selection in front of ticket characteristic

You can declare

 l_s_range-low = wa_ticket-ticket.
 append l_s_range to l_t_range.

Data Cache and Generic Cache

I see there are two cache system in Oracle BI Server, "Data Cache" and "Generic Cache".
What is the difference between these two kinds of cache ?

I'll try to explain the two cache types here, but if someone can better phrase it than myself, by all means, step up.
Data Cache:
The OBIEE BI Server will cache the result set of SQL that is executed. These cached results are records and if OBIEE sees another report requesting the same record set that it already has in cache, it will go straight to the cache version instead of re-issuing the SQL
Generic Cache:
The generic cache is the presentation server cache. This has to do with the caching of particular request. If the BI Server detects a cached version of a request, it will get the request directly from the cache and not even go down to check for the cached record set.
This is how they function. Assume you have report A with record set 1 and there's no data in either cache.
You run Report A
1) Presentation Service checks if the Request is in the generic cache.
2) This check fails.
3) Presentation service issues logical SQL query to BI Server
4) BI Server checks if there is any record set matching the logical query in the cache
5) This check fails.
6) BI Server issues the physical SQL
7) BI Server caches the result set
8) Presentation service gets result set and formats the data
9) Presentation service caches presentation results
10) Report A is displayed
That is my understanding of the Data and Generic Caches.

I am using Generic Datasource first time i run init next time i want to run the delta, delta is sucessful but 0 records. i am taken date field and new status fileds(DSO) for DSO. R/3 side table values chaging but not replicate to BI. Can any suggest how to run the delta for Generic Datasource.

Have you set delta pointers in your Generic datasource? if yes then what it is ? try to see if its logically related with your changes in records or you need to use any other type of delta pointer.
