Data Migration from CSV file to Database Table.

Hi,
I have checked few answered threads on Data Migration Issues but didn't find the solution yet.
I am reading data from an CSV file to internal table but the complete row is coming under one field of the internal table.
How i can get values in different fields of the internal table from the CSV file ?
Thanks & Regards.
Raman Khurana.

Hi,
If you are using GUI_UPLOAD, you might have missed to make has_field_separator  as 'X'.
  EXPORTING
CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
  EXPORTING
   filename                      = 'C:\File.csv'
   filetype                      = 'ASC'
   has_field_separator           = ' X'  "<= Set this as 'X'.
  TABLES
    data_tab                      = itab.

  • Loading data from .csv file into existing table

    Hi,
    I have taken a look at several threads which talk about loading data from .csv file into existing /new table. Also checked out Vikas's application regarding the same. I am trying to explain my requirement with an example.
    I have a .csv file and I want the data to be loaded into an existing table. The timesheet table columns are -
    timesheet_entry_id,time_worked,timesheet_date,project_key .
    The csv columns are :
    project,utilization,project_key,timesheet_category,employee,timesheet_date , hours_worked etc.
    What I needed to know is that before the csv data is loaded into the timesheet table is there any way of validating the project key ( which is the primary key of the projects table) with the projects table . I need to perform similar validations with other columns like customer_id from customers table. Basically the loading should be done after validating if the data exists in the parent table. Has anyone done this kind of loading through the APEX utility-data load.Or is there another method of accomplishing the same.
    Does Vikas's application do what the utility does ( i am assuming that the code being from 2005 the utility was not incorporated in APEX at that time). Any helpful advise is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Anjali

    Hi Anjali,
    Take a look at these threads which might outline different ways to do it -
    File Browse, File Upload
    Loading CSV file using external table
    Loading a CSV file into a table
    you can create hidden items in the page to validate previous records before insert data.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to extract data from  text file to database table

    Hi ,
    I am trying to upload  data in text file to database table  using GUI_UPLOAD function .what would be the program for that.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I don't think you have a standard sap program to upload data from file to database table...
    Instead you can create a custom program like this..
    DATA: T_FILEDATA(1000) OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
    DATA: T_ZTABLE LIKE ZTABLE OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
      EXPORTING
        filename                      = 'C:\TEST.TXT'
      tables
        data_tab                      = T_FILEDATA
    EXCEPTIONS
       FILE_OPEN_ERROR               = 1
       FILE_READ_ERROR               = 2
       NO_BATCH                      = 3
       GUI_REFUSE_FILETRANSFER       = 4
       INVALID_TYPE                  = 5
       NO_AUTHORITY                  = 6
       UNKNOWN_ERROR                 = 7
       BAD_DATA_FORMAT               = 8
       HEADER_NOT_ALLOWED            = 9
       SEPARATOR_NOT_ALLOWED         = 10
       HEADER_TOO_LONG               = 11
       UNKNOWN_DP_ERROR              = 12
       ACCESS_DENIED                 = 13
       DP_OUT_OF_MEMORY              = 14
       DISK_FULL                     = 15
       DP_TIMEOUT                    = 16
       OTHERS                        = 17
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
            WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
    ENDIF.
    LOOP AT T_FILEDATA.
      T_ZTABLE = T_FILEDATA.
      APPEND T_ZTABLE.

    MODIFY ZTABLE FROM TABLE T_ZTABLE.

  • How to regularly load data from .csv file to database (using apex)

    Hi,
    i am using apex3 , I need to load data from a csv file to apex . I need to perform this automatically through code at regular time interval of 5-10 seconds.
    Is it possible .If yes how ?. Please reply as early as possible. This will decide whether to use apex or not for this application.
    this is question for Application Express. Dont know why in forum for BPEL
    Edited by: TEJU on Oct 24, 2008 2:57 PM

    Hello,
    You really need to load the data every 5-10 seconds? Presumably it's read only?
    I would look at using an Oracle external table instead, that way you just drop your CSV in a location the DB can read it and then you build a table that essentially references the underlying CSV (that way when you query the table you view the data in the CSV file).
    Take a look at this link for a quick example on usage -
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/9i/SQLNewFeatures9i.php#ExternalTables
    Hope this helps,
    John.

  • Loading records from .csv file to SAP table via SAP Program

    Hi,
    I have a .csv file with 132,869 records and I am trying to load it to an SAP table with a customized SAP program.
    After executing the program, only 99,999 records are being loaded into the table.
    Is there some setting to define how many records can be loaded into a table? Or what else could be the problem?
    Pls advice.
    Thanks!!!

    hi Arun ,
    A datasource need a extract structure to fetch data .It is nothing but a temp table to hold data.
    First you need to create atable in SE11 with fields coming from CSV file.
    Then you need to write a report program to read you CSV file and populate your table in BW .
    Then you can create a datasource on top of this table .
    After that replicate and load data at PSA and use to upper flow.

    Hi,
    I am trying to load data from XML file to Oracle table using DBMS_XMLStore utility.I have performed the prerequisites like creating the directory from APPS user, grant read/write to directory, placing the data file on folder on apps tier, created a procedure ‘insertXML’ to load the data based on metalink note (Note ID: 396573.1 How to Insert XML by passing a file Instead of using Embedded XML). • Saving data retrieved from text file to JDBC table

    Hi,
    I would like to save data, loaded from a text file to a dataset, into an existing JDBC table.

    I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi there,
    Here is an example of reading a String and a date from a text file. Once you have what you need in the Strings (or whatever) it should be easy to insert them into and SQL statement. Let me know if you need an example of this as well and I'll post it in the morning. Right now I'm off to bed :o)

  • Data loading from csv  files

    Hello,
    I designed a quite simple characteristic having language dependent texts, two numeric time dependent attributes, and a compounding characteristic.
    I then built a set of infosource, data source and  infopackage for texts,.and a similar one for attributes.  Data sources reside on csv flat files, stored on local machine [ folder c:\tmp ].
    The file with texts stores the texts for two languages, each row containing the language key field.
    When I run the infopackage in preview mode, everything looks ok.
    When I run it in schedule mode, only the english texts are stored into the characteristic, the other language texts are left blank.
    The line structure of the csv file that contains the attributes, is as follows:
    1;1;99991231;10000101;0.99;0.00
    The first two fields are
    -compound;
    -key_value;
    -ValidTo;
    -ValiFrom;
    -Attribute1
    -Attribute2
    When I run the infoPackage in preview mode, it also looks ok.
    When schedule it, the ValidTo and ValidFrom are left blank.
    In both situations the transfer rules are based on direct fields-infoObject mapping.
    Also no error ot warning message is displayed.
    Is there anyone to let me know what I miss?
    Any other suggestion is very welcome.
    Regards!
