Data migration from OutlookSoft 4.2 version to BPC 7MS

A quick search on this topic did not yield any results.  We're currently in the process of pilot testing our BPC 7MS installation. Our production system is OutlookSoft 4.2.
We would like to keep the BPC data in synch with our production 4.2 system. Has anyone done this before? What is the most optimal approach?
Is it as simple as dumping all the rows from the BPC FACT tables and repopulating the tables with the 4.2 FACT table rows? Or do I have to use the BPC/OutlookSoft data manager packages to export and import the data?

Hi Hitesh,
We have done migration activities. From the data perspective, it is not very difficult to manage. When you are doing the migration, you take the backup of the production, and then proceed with the migration activities. Keep testing your new BPC 7.0 environment. Once satisfied, and you want to finalize it, then you can take the final member list from the OS prod system and update in the BPC. So, no troubles, even if there are frequent changes in the metadata. You update that in BPC as a one time activity and then going forward, OS system will be scrapped.
As already indicated, BPC doesnt allow you to store data at parent nodes, which was feasible in OS. So, you need to be little cautious about that. The SQL script shared is incomplete, You need to use
Select * from tblfact<appname> where <dimensionID> not in (select <dimensionID> from mbr<dimensionname> where calc = 'N')
For example, Select * from tblfactEPS where TIMEID not in (select timeid from mbrTIME where calc = 'N')
The above statement needs to be used in all the fact, fac2, and factwb tables of all the applications, and all the dimensions. However, I would suggest that you first run the migration. During the step where you process the applications, you will get an error if you have any records in the parent node.
There is a very detailed document published by me on migration activities on SDN. You can search for it. It will give you all the details.
Hope this helps.

  • Data Migration from 11i to R12 Global - Open POs,lines, receipts & on hand upload, Is it possible to do the onhand qty upload with over riding of all receipts which uploaded against Open PO lines?

    Hi Friends,
We are in a phase of data migration from 11i to R12
I was discussed with client & they wants extraction of all open POs which was generated after 01 Jan 2014 to till date in 11i.
Condition for open POs is PO qty-received qty=>0
critical Example for open PO is :PO no: 10 has 4 lines, 3lines full qty has been received & for 1 line partial qty(say 50 out of 100) received.
in this case he wants in R12 uploading as PO no:10 should entered as open PO with all 4lines & 3 lines complete receipt should be done, for 4th line partial qty i.e 50 should be received.
the question is if we upload on hand qty first, then open POs & receipts, it will increase the onhand qty in new system(mismatch of on hand qty's 11i to R12)
Is it possible to do the onhand qty upload with over riding of all receipts which uploaded against Open PO lines.
    Or Please advice best solution.
    Thanks & Regards

Well, my two-month-old MBP has no qualms about booting from a no-name external USB HD I put together...
Given that is is a common point of failure, I would imagine a large Apple Store should keep a stock of HD's on hand.
Now since you're a bit desperate and the genie pops up til Saturday and you seem to be the enterprising kind, let's try an experiment: if you have room enough in the external HD and assuming it isn't a Time Machine volume, why don't you plug it in, stick the Install CD and see if the installer lets you select the external drive as the install target. If you can install Leopard on it, on top of the backup without reformatting, and the Mac can boot from the drive afterwards, at least you would have some functionality restored and would be able to pull your stuff from the internal HD. Apple says booting from USB drives is not supported but that does not equate to not possible; some brands do work. Risks? Always. You can always lose your backup. Like I said, a challenge for an enterprising gal....
Next time around, consider having a bootable external clone at hand for rainy days. I keep three myself...
P.S. Since I'll be in the Dallas-FW area in late June, I can volunteer with the confetti....

  • Data Migration from R3 to new ECC System

    Hello,
We are doing a fresh implementation for SAP MDM. Currently we have 3 SAP R/3 systems and 1 non-R3 system (BPCS system). One of the project goals is to do data migration from all these 4 systems into a new SAP ECC system and to MDM for Vendor Master, Customer Master and Material Master. My manager says that we need Business Objects tool to Migrate these data. But, my question is that is it not possible to achive this through XI/PI itself ? Can anyone let me know the entire process in XI/PI as to how do I receive the Idocs from R/3, convert into XML and then send it to the new ECC system in Idoc format ?
    Thks & Rgds,
    Hema

    Hi Gandhi,
You have SAP MDM, BPC and R/3 systems in your landscape, when you are migrating data to new ECC system, what is the role of mdm, did you moving the same data to MDM to avoid duplicate/redundant data??is there any data migration from R/3 to MDM(any integration required)or MDM to R/3,
You have to develop different interfaces to transfer data from MDM to ECC, BPC to ECC.definelty you required one middleware, the option definitely SAP PI. it offers very easy of integration between MDM and R/3 system, you can use MDM-PI adapter to connect to directly MDM syndicator file port from there you can pull the XML file and convert it in to IDoc format use Receiver IDoc adapter in PI, the same way we can integrate BPC system with R/3.
Search in sdn, there are some scenarios integration of R/3 and MDM using PI, refer those links, if still you have any doubts let me know,

  • Data Migration from 4.6C to ECC 6.0

if you have the documents regarding the above post it which will be useful!!!
    Thanks,

    Hi Yogesh
OS migrations are more or less painless beside the fact, that most "Unix" operating systems are using a different endianess (aside from Solaris on X86_64). For RFC and other SAP proprietary communication this is done in the kernel but if you use own software to read BINARY data (not talking about textfiles) you need to take care of that in your software.
    Hope ths helps

One of our customer is currently on SAP 4.7 system.  Their current system is shared by 2 companies & the companies got demerged now. Hence they are palnning for fresh ECC 6.0 implementation & migrating Master data & transactional data related to this customer from the current 4.7 system to ECC 6.0.
I am seeing possible way for data migration is through ALE or LSMW. But I am not confident about the execution plan & process.
I would wish to know from you people is:
    1. The different methods to do data migration from 4.7 to ECC 6.0 with pros & cons
    2. How to plan for data migration
    3. Risks & mitigations during data migration

  • Data Migration from MS   Excel Sheet to Oracle 9i Database

Can anyone please help me to perform a data migration from MS excel sheet to Oracle 9i Database. I have an excel sheet from which i need to move data to the database. One of the columns in the sheet posseses multiple new line characters, and which causes a problem while migrating data with the help of SQL Loader. I would like to know whether any utility is available to migrate data directly from MS Excel sheet to the database, or it would he really helpfull for me , if anyone provide me with an alternate solution.

I think Christian's suggestion will work for easily and quickly.
    1) create table link of Oracle target table in MS Office's ACCESS thru ODBC;
    2) from Access screen, you may easily dump the excel data into the linked table.
This is very easy and feasible ways. Don't bother to find other ways. The other ways will need you to clear the unwanted carriage return signs first.

Anyone having any idea on the data migration appraoach to be followed from Oracle BPEL 10.1.2.0 to 10.1.3.3
    If it supported?
I understand process migration is possible (I found it out in installation guide for 10.1.3.1) but there are no documents available for data migration approach (Or I am not able to get hold of any).

To workaround the problem, from the DataModel project, right-clicked Project Properties, selected Business Components: Options, unchecked Validate Objects during Compile, and the project compiled successfuly, yet the issue is to have my xml files valid.

  • Data migration from ASE 11.9.2 to 16.0

    Hi all,
I'm at a customer site running Sybase ASE 11.9.2 on Windows 2000. I wish to migrate their set of databases to ASE 15.7 or 16.0 hosted on Server 2012 (for obvious reasons). I've downloaded and installed ASE 16.0 developer edition on a new Windows 2012 virtual server and and am moving to the database migration stage....
From what I have read, a single step migration from 11.9.2 to 15.7 is possible, thus I assume a migration to 16.0 might also be possible.
    What I have done:
    i) Dumped the existing database and transaction logs from ASE 11.9.2 to some files on disk.
ii) Created a datastore for data and logs and created a database with 'load on' the ASE 16.0 environment
iii) loaded a 11.9.2 database and transaction logs into the blank database on ASE 16.0 environment (successful)
iv) run an 'online database DBNAME' (failing)
From what I have read, schema conversion etc. occurs during the online database action, not the initial load. This is the error i'm getting:
    1> online database Cust201213
    2> go

As the database is not online of ASE 16.0 i've been unable to conduct must troubleshooting on that version, so I have cloned a copy of the database on the 11.9.2 instance instead to work on the 644 error.
From the error I assume that the sysindexes system table is corrupt. I've read various forum entries that talk about running a dbcc reindex etc. however the Sybase knowledge base states that such a command cannot be run on the sysindexes table.
Can anyone give me some advice on rebuilding a corrupt sysindexes table please. Go easy on me; I've only been exposed to Sybase ASE for 2 days so i'm learning .

    Hi Brad,
Banging my head against a brick wall here. Constructing an ASE 12.5.4 environment on a server 2012 VM (likely not supported) is proving challenging. It half works in XP compatibility mode but java is not happy.... To get a 12.5.4 staging environment working properly I would need to build a windows server 2003 VM and a windows XP client, get the ODBC drivers working properly etc. and test it. Software of this age is extremely hard to track down and license (particularly without an up to date support agreement with SAP)...
I am working on an option that is looking positive so far, though it's the last thing I wanted to do.... namely migrate the data from Sybase 11.9.2 to SQL server 2012. The SQL Server migration tool does support this early version of Sybase, and fortunately the 9 databases I need to convert are not too big or too complex so i'm cautiously optimistic. Analysis and dry-runs to date suggests this may be the least painful solution. Keen to rip the data out of this ancient environment before it dies.
Thanks for you help. This just demonstrates the folly of running a production system in a 16 year old environment; all good fun.

There is a new feature in version 1.2.1 of the migration
workbench that will generate the BCP and SQL Loader scripts for
    you.
Right mouse click on the 'Tables' component group in the Oracle
Model UI tree and click 'Generate Data Migrate Script...'.
This will place the scripts in the Log directory you have
specified in the Tools -> Options menu. Go to the Logging tab and
enter a valid value for 'Log file directory'.
The data move scripts will be located in the 'Log file
    directory'\SQLServer6 directory.

  • Data Migration from CRM 4.0 to CRM 2007

    Hi experts,
we have transaction data to be migrated from CRM 4.0 to 2007, the transactions are having followup transactions, how can we transfer the transactions along with follow up transactions to CRM 2007, can any one share the documents, i know it can be done with idoc meathod. can any one suggest what are the pre requisites and what is the role of CRM consultant here.

Okay the only question is that is your CRM 40 system and the CRM 2007 separate systems?  If so then you can use the XIF IDOC adapter to setup the transfer between the two systems.
Now if the CRM 40 system is being upgraded to CRM 2007 then you don't have to "transfer" data.
As far as the CRM consultant role, you better understand basic IDOC setup and be able to do data mapping between the older and newer version.  Luckily you shouldn't have a lot of mapping work as 2007 IDOC structure is a refinement of 4.0.
For more XIF information search the CRM general and framework forum.
    Take care,
    Stephen
