Data truncated to ... characters

I run the scripts to create database and after each of them I get the message Input truncated to ... characters, every procedure or any statement ending by '/' or ';', but it does not help. What can I do to avoid that?
Thank you.

Inna,
That sort of message is usually caused by excess spaces at the end of the script. The message is harmless and you can ignore it. However, if you want to get rid of it, then make sure that there are no excess spaces at the end of your script. After the / on the last line of your script, press the return key, then hold down the delete key until you are sure you have deleted all excess spaces. To test whether you have deleted all of the excess spaces, try pressing the right arrow and down arrow keys. If the cursor moves, then you haven't deleted all of them; Your cursor should remain immediately below the /.

  • Display tree node data in bold characters

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I need to display tree nodes data in bold characters. If I click on a particular tree node, next time it should appear in normal font only which means that some task had done using that tree node. Is my question clear??
    Plz help me....
    thanks,
    ravindra.

    Hi Ravindra,
    I think it is possible, i have not done it but let me explain how we can do it.
    In <htmlb:treeNode> tag there is an attribute 'text' in
    which we specify title of that treeNode.
    Now you define a page attribute 'treeNodeTitle' type
    edpline and in onCreate assign it value <html><b>MyTreeNode</b></html>
    When you click on this node then you do event handling
    in onInputProcessing, there assign only 'MyTreeNode' to
    treeNodeTitle.
    sample code may look like this...
    <htmlb:treeNode
      id = 'treeNode1'
      text = '<%=treeNodeTitle %>' >
    </htmlb:treeNode>
    Page Attribute
    treeNodeTitle type edpline
    in onCreate
    treeNodeTitle = '<html><b>MyTreeNode</b></html>'
    in onInputProcessing
    in event-handling code for that treeNode write
    treeNodeTitle = 'MyTreeNode'
    I hope this will work.

  • Insertion Data Containing Special Characters

    Hi,
    I exported my table data to an ascii file using TOAD, which created
    the insert statements for me. I intend to insert these data to another database.
    The problem is that the data contains some characters like single quote
    and ampersand which would give problem during insertion.
    Is there a way to go around this as I don't want to waste my time
    changing the characters to ASCII manually.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    May be its because I am using the free version of TOAD,
    "single quote" is still single quote after I export the data.
    How do people normally solve this? The only way I know is
    to select the data manually and at the same time replacing
    single quote with 2 single quotes instead - (this would be spooled)
    And this is not the only issue. Some field which has
    more than 1 linefeed/carriage return might not be inserted properly also.
    Sample as below:
    insert into table test values
    ('Testing ...
    Insert Data');
    I inserted those data through application programs and intended
    to export out the raw data and import into another database.
    I am not ready to use the imp/exp utility as I don't want to
    drop any tables.
    Thanks in advance.

  • What file format Oracle Database 11g can spool data w chinese characters?

    Hi,
    I have a batch job that spools data into a text file for further processing but now I have data that contains chinese characters.
    From what I know text file (.txt) cannot support chinese characters.
    Anyone has any idea what file format Oracle Database 11g can spool data with chinese characters?
    Thank you!

    I'm not sure this can work with SQL*Plus in character mode on Windows DOS mode. But this should work with SQL Developer: see Re: How to display Chinese characters in Oracle?

    Hi thanks ,
    This is the connection.DLL contains the following method
    int getConnection(SQLHENV henv,SQLHDBC hdbc,char * dsn){
         SQLRETURN rc = SQL_SUCCESS; //* General return code for the API
         SQLHSTMT hstmt = SQL_NULL_HSTMT; //* Statement handle

         SQLCHAR connStr = (SQLCHAR)dsn;//Connection string
         /* FOR LOGGING THE MESSAGE IN THE LOG*/
         logMessage('D', __FILE__, "getConnection", __LINE__, "Entering connection"); //logging a 'DEBUG'
         rc = SQLAllocEnv(henv);
         if (rc != SQL_SUCCESS){

              exit(1);
         logMessage('D', __FILE__, "getConnection", __LINE__, "Allocating Connection Handle"); //logging a 'DEBUG'
         rc = SQLAllocConnect(*henv, hdbc);
         if (rc != SQL_SUCCESS){
              printf("unable to allocate connection handle hdbc");
         chkReturnCode(rc, *henv, SQL_NULL_HDBC, SQL_NULL_HSTMT, "Unable to allocate a connection handle\n", __FILE__, __LINE__, 1);
         logMessage('D', __FILE__, "getConnection", __LINE__, "Creating the connection"); //logging a 'DEBUG'
         rc = SQLDriverConnect(*hdbc, NULL,connStr, SQL_NTS,connOut, sizeof(connOut),&connOutLen,SQL_DRIVER_NOPROMPT);\
         chkReturnCode(rc, henv, hdbc, SQL_NULL_HSTMT, "Error in connecting to the data store\n", __FILE__, __LINE__, 1);
         return rc; // Connection will be closed in the calling program
    Im passing the env and connection handles from my calling program as follows
    rc=getConnection(&henv,&hdbc,connStr);
    where connStr="DSN=sanal_dsn;PermSize=64"
    even if rc =1 ,surprisingly connection is there and i can do operations on DB.
    thanks for ur time,

  • Is there any way to restore data truncated with TRUNCATE query in Oracle9i

    Hi, Is there any way to restore data truncated with TRUNCATE query in Oracle9i DB...
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
    you can flash back DML queries like insert, update
    but it is not possible for some DDL like truncate, alter, and and drop columns etc that change structure of table.
    e.g.
    SQL> select * from t2;
    C1
    3
    SQL> select dbms_flashback.get_system_change_number from dual;
    GET_SYSTEM_CHANGE_NUMBER
    496378
    SQL> truncate table t2;
    Table truncated.
    SQL> select * from t2 as of scn(496378);
    select * from t2 as of scn(496378)

    Just a note, I had the same problem and resolved it by making
    sure my cfsqltype in cfqueryparam is cf_sql_timestamp instead of
    cf_sql_datetime (which is not a valid value).
    Also, just a note that when working with a datetime value in
    cfqueryparam, using cf_sql_date for cfsqltype will truncate the
    time to 00:00:00.

  • Data truncation

    We are on oracle version 9.2.0.7. Our application is web based and we use Oracle thin client (ojdbc14.jar) to connect to database. We have a dblink to a SQL server 7.0 database. When we use ojdbc14.jar for 9.2.0.5 there is no problem. If we use version 9.2.0.8 or higher there is data truncation on some fields. Query is very simple and no functions are used in the query. • SQLException - Data truncated error

    How do we trap the column name responsible for the Data Truncation in an INSERT stmt , after the SQLException has been caught ... ??

    You might not be able to.
    The text of the exception might be all you get.
    However, you might check the getNextException() method of the SQLException.
    You might also look at getWarning() on the Statement instance as well.

  • In Read_text FM, the data after 256 characters gets truncated

    Hi All,
    In this FM, the internal table can't have string type field. In my case the data is in multiple lines of internal table and I am concatenating into a single field which is of type DESCRIPTIONS(string). I am passing this data to a table in smartform.Only 255 characters are printed, remaining data gets truncated. I am using CONVERT_OTF and SX_TABLE_LINE_WIDTH_CHANGE FMs to create PDF. Is it the limitation or I am incorect here?

    Your posting title is misleading; there's nothing wrong with FM READ_TEXT.  Yes, it returns a table of type TLINE, as you've noted.  Perhaps you could close this post and repost in FORM PRINTING with an appropriate title like: Can't show more than 255 characters of text.....but search first, because you cannot be the first person to encounter this limitation.
