Data Upload Based On View

I’m running Oracle 11.2 with Apex 4.1.
I need a way to do a lookup table based on two or more columns in the csv that the user uploads.
Ex: csv contains “PLOT” and “SUBPLOT” these two columns are looked up in another table and “SUBPLOT_ID” is returned
I don’t / didn’t see a way to do this using the standard wizard builder. I then noticed that under the “Create Data Load Wizard” screen I could see both tables and views in the schema. I first created a view that duplicated the columns that would be uploaded in the csv. Then I created the necessary ‘instead of‘ triggers to make the view capable of DML operations. The data upload wizard creates just fine using the view as its target. Once I start uploading data and get to the second page (Data / Table Mapping) the data in the csv is not parsed out. In other words each line is being read as a single field. The select box containing the column names does list all the columns in the view.
1) Does anyone know a way to do a multi column lookup in the wizard?
2) Am I supposed to be able to use a view as the data upload target? (I am aware that the wizard creator is asking for a table name as the target.)

Sorry for taking time to reply to your email, I somehow missed this post.
To your first question, a multi column lookup is one of the enhancement for the coming release.
The second question, regarding the views, is already fixed and I would advise you to upgrade to apex 4.1.1 (bug 13366148)

Can Data Links be established between Data sets based on View Objects?

Hi all,
In the BI Publisher Documentation it's given that Datasets based on view object queries do not support Data Links / Group Links. We found out that only way to establish relationship between view object Datasets is to create a view link and then upload it to create a Dataset.
1. Is there any other way to establish relationship between view objects Datasets in DataModel editor itself just as in the case of data sets based on (SQL queries e.t.c.)?
2. If so can View object Datasets be linked to Datasets based on other Datasources?
3. Will the Datalinks for View object Datasets be supported in any of the upcoming releases. Is there any ER logged for this case?
Any insight on the above issues will be really helpful.

Enhance the data source with date and time and populate these fields in the user exit using the function module IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP .
OR
You can create Z function module IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP in BW side and write a routine in update rules/transfer rules to populate date and time.

Data upload based on company code

Hi all
There are three company codes maintained in source system under one client.
They want to schedule the BW data upload company codewise at different time of the day. e.g for company code one at 2am , for company code two at 11am and for third company 5pm.
Kindly advice whether this can be done in bw.

Hi,
interesting that you get the same answer twice just with different words after quite a while. But anyway. Basically this is correct but it applies only for full or initial loads. In case you are dealing with deltas you cannot use that approach, because all initializations will be put together into only one delta request and your requirement cannot be fulfilled.

Updating record in a data block based on view in oracle forms

hi all ,
We have two data blocks in our custom oracle form.The first data block is for search criteria provided with buttons 'GO' and 'ADD ROW' and the second data block is based on a view that fetches record when user clicks on GO based on the the criteria specified in the above block. The Below block contains one SAVE button too.
We have a requirement when GO button is pressed and corresponding records are shown in the below block, user should be able to edit the record. Want to know how to make it editable?

How to incoporate a function module in data source based on view

Hi,
I need to develop a data source in R/3 based on a view (which is straight forward).
One field in the R/3 Z table will be in like this 20,070,709,110,000
There is a function module developed in R/3 when executed will split the record(20,070,709,110,000) and display time & date
How can i incorporate this function module in data source so that the data and time records will be loaded to BW

Query on Data Block based on View

Hi,
I am new to forms and am trying to modify an existing form which currently works in the following way :
The same form is used for insert/updates/queries.
The data block is based on a table and a post query trigger is written which updates the other text items on the canvas(which come from different tables) based on the values returned by the data block. Since the query functionality is based only on the table, you cannot query on the other items that are on the canvas. I need to make the query work on the other items that come from different tables.
I created a view which joins all the tables but when I query although it returns the right record I get an error message " Cannot insert into or update view"
I'm not sure what the best way to resolve this is ?
Any suggestions ?

Thanks for the replies.
I created an updateable view and an instead of trigger. The Form is now queryable on all fields and the insert to the table works beautifully.
However, now I'm getting an error on Update. Updating any column on the form results in a
ORA-01733: virtual column not allowed here
FRM-40501: ORACLE error: unable to reserve record for update or delete.

Delta field for generic data source based on view EKBE

Hello,
I am creating a generic datasource based on table EKBE. Can anyone please tell me what field should I use for delta. Is it BUDAT(Posting Date in the Document) or CPUDT(Day On Which Accounting Document Was Entered).

BUDAT is the date which can be changed. I can change the date in system and chances are it will not pick in delta.
CPUDT is the date on which document was created/changed.

Inserting/updating data in control block based on view

Hi!
I`ve created a block based on a view to display data.
I want this block to be insertable and updateable, that is I will use a on-insert/update trigger to call an insert/update procedure located in the database.
When trying to change/insert a value in the block, the error message "Error: Can not insert into or update data in a view" pops up. I`ve tried to get rid of this error, without success.
How can I make a data block based on a view insertable and updateable?
My guess is that this have something to do with locking the records(there is no rowid in the view)... but I'm not sure.

As well as on-update, on-insert, on-delete triggers you also need an on-lock,
(even though it might just contain null;) otherwise the form will try to lock the view and fail.
Actually your terminology is wrong, the block being based on a table or view is not a control block. A control block is not based on anything and has no default functionality for communicating with the database. If it was a control block, the on- triggers would not fire.

Best Practice for Flat File Data Uploaded by Users

Hi,
I have the following scenario:
1.     Users would like to upload data from flat file and subsequently view their reports.
2.     SAP BW support team would not be involved in data upload process.
3.     Users would not go to RSA1 and use InfoPackages & DTPs. Hence, another mechanism for data upload is required.
4.     Users consists of two group, external and internal users. External users would not have access to SAP system. However, access via a portal is acceptable.
What are the best practice we should adopt for this scenario?

I can share what we do in our project.
We get the files from the WEB to the Application Server in path which is for this process.The file placed in the server has a naming convention based on ur project,u can name it.Everyday the same name file is placed in the server with different data.The path in the infopackage is fixed to that location in the server.After this the process chain trigers and loads the data from that particular path which is fixed in the application server.After the load completes,a copy of file is taken as back up and deleted from that path.
So this happens everyday.

Dso record get modified or overwrite after data uploaded

can any one answer this
The record of view2 is already uploaded to target with one barcode number if we use the date as upload criteria.
If the record from the view one is uploaded today with the same barcode number what happens .
Overwrite the record or modify the existing record ?

The problem is operation t , operation , zusr1 , zusr , is empty they must be field with the values in the view 2 .
The data is loaded based on the date criteria while loading in the info package where the data loss is happening and the data in the target is miss matching.
The process chain is working daily but the data is not loaded correctly from view 2 into info package and the psa will be not having the records.
The data field in the view one does not match with date field in the view 2 .
The key figure here is the barcode number only (so only one record exist for on barcode)

Check what is the keyfield of your dso as data will be loaded based on keyfields.
Also please check if you've set overwrite option in your dso at transformation.

Refresh/Update data in a materialized view

Hi,
I have question about the data in a materialized view and how it is refreshed. My mat view has all my dimension-ids and my (for my specialize needs) aggregated measures from my fact table. I used the mat view wizard to create my view - which works perfectly. But now I wonder if I have to create some sort of mapping(?) or some sort of trigger to refresh the data in the mat view. Or is the data automatically refreshed when I start my fact table mappings. I use OWB 11gR2

MVs have properties for refresh - you an refresh based on schedules or when dependent data is committed or manually.

Out of memory Error while querying SQL Script based Calculation View

Hi All,
I wanted to test the performance of Graphical and SQL Script based Calculation views.
Created Graphical (CA_GRPH) and SQL Script (CA_SQL) Calculation views.
Analytic View (AN_GRPH) for both Calculation views are the same which is Graphical based (90 Attributes and 5 Measures)
In Analytic View data foundation I have a Fact table which has 1.5 Billion records and 9 Dimension Tables –collectively 500 million records (7 Attribute Views). 9 Referential joins with cardinality N:1 and 1 Referential join with cardinality N:N.
I wanted to keep (CA_GRPH) and (CA_SQL) as a base Calculation views and leverage those to create various calculation views (Will be creating different Calc views for respective Business segments)
In order to test this I have created below calc views on top of base calc views.
Graphical Based: Created (CA_GRAPH_XYZ) by having CA_GRPH in projection with 30 Calculated Columns. – This retrieves data in 13 secs
SQL Script Based: Created (CA_GRPH_ABC) by having CA_SQL in projection view with 30 calculated columns – This errors out after 1.50 mins.
Could not execute 'SELECT "COLUMN_A","COLUMN _B"," COLUMN _C"," COLUMN _D", SUM("COLUMN _REVENUE") AS ...' in 1:50.480 minutes .

"Date picker" in report - - View source shows no label for the date picker

In one of my reports, I am using multiple types (textarea/text/date picker/select list)
I wanted to use a javascript based on the label, but I do not see "<label>" for Date picker in the view source due to which my Javascript fails.
Snippet of view Source:

Hi,
OK - the headers attribute should also help as these will identify the correct cells. You would need to know the html tags used within each cell for each datatype.
Would using cloneNode help you? It's a method of creating a copy of an entire row in a single instruction

How to reduce long extraction time - Generic extractor based on view

Hello. The previous thread about this error was closed without any answer.
I'm in the same configuration.
"Using a generic extractor (Delta enabled on confirmation date) based on view to load data from ECC6 to BI.
Now my issue is that the delta extraction is running for a long time (around 1 hr) even if the data volume is very small
While checking the job overview in source system i saw that the job is hanging at the below step for almost 1 hr."
1 LUWs confirmed and 1 LUWs to be deleted with function module MF RSC2_QOUT_CONFIRM_DATA.
I am not understanding why this is happening.

following the note and the other thread, I've check the index 4 of the table COEP.
Here is what I got:

Data upload problem in delta update from 1st ODS to 2nd ODS

Dear Friends,
I am loading data from one ODS to another. The update mode was full upload. Sometime back an error occurred in activation of the first ODS. The error was: Full updates already available in ODS ,Cannot update init./delta. So currently daily records are pulled but not added i.e. transferred recs = 4000 but added recs = 0.
When I looked for a solution in SDN I found that using program RSSM_SET_REPAIR_FULL_FLAG for 2nd ODS will reset all full uploads to Repair Full Request which I have already done for 2nd ODS. Then initialize once and pull delta.
But problem is that I cannot set update mode to delta as I am pulling some 80,000 records in 2nd ODS from 1st ODS with around 14 lacs records daily based on some data-selection filters in infopkg. But do not see any parameters for data-selction in delta mode.
Please suggest.

Dear Sirs,
Due to this error in activation in 2nd ODS daily data upload is failing in 1st ODS.
To correct this I converted all full upload requests in 2nd ODS to Repair full requests.
But now when I scheduled the infopkg today with full upload again data was transferred but not added.
I know I cannot have init./ delta so what possibly can now be done in this scenario. Please help.
