Database adapter wizard issue

Hi,
I recently created a bpel flow containing a database adapter where I completed all the steps through to completion. Since then, when I attempt to review the adapter by double-clicking on it and then click on "Define Adapter Service", then when I step through to the "Adapter Config. Wizard - Select Table" I am told :
'No Tables Imported'.
I cannot figure out what I have done to have caused this. As far as I can see everything related to the database adapter from its initial creation still exists:
* under "Application Sources" I see the adapter, and within this are 3 javaclasses that relate to the tables in the join
* under "Application Sources->TopLink" again I see a reference to the adapter
* under "Integration Content", there is another reference to the adapter, which contains :
- wsdl, xsd & toplink mappings xml
I have two further database adapters that do not have any issues - I can use the wizard to review their configuration. The entire flow compiles without issues...
Is there anyway I can "fix" the 1st adapter so that the wizard correctly shows the imported tables?
Thanks in advance.
Anit

Hi,
No it is not a bug, I think. If you created your query by choosing from imported tables/views and related those using the wizard, the only way to change them is to re-import the tables and basically redefine your database adapter.
It's a pity, but that's how it is (also in 10.1.2 I saw recently).

  • Database Adapter Wizard does not show accessible table

    HI guys,
in the wizard I am unable to see the tables which I need to use for database adapter.
But I do have access to those tables, and able to select from them in SQL worksheet from with in Jdev.
I dont own the tables, but my user id have readable access to those tables.
    Any help is appreciated.
P.S. If I didnt explain it properly, plz let me know. It really creates lot of access issues if I can only create DB adapter on My owned tables.
    :)

    Hi there,
please see the answer to your duplicate post on the BPEL forum:
DB Adapter does not show selectable tables
In general BPEL forum gets a lot more traffic but I will try to address questions on both equally.
    Thanks

  • Database Adapter: cannot access table with complex record type as columns

    Hi all,
I cannot perform any operations on a table that has columns with complex record type.
I have created a table to store purchase order details.
    Sample script:
    CREATE type XX_CUST_INFO_TYP as object
    ssn VARCHAR2(20),
    rating NUMBER(15)
    CREATE type XX_ITEM_TYP as object
    item_name VARCHAR2(20),
    unit_price NUMBER(15),
    quantity NUMBER(15)
    CREATE table XX_PORDER (cust XX_CUST_INFO_TYP, porder XX_ITEM_TYP);
When i try to access the table X_PORDER in jdev through a database Adapter, i receive the error as
"some tables contains columns that are not recognized by the database adpter"
1.) so in this case, how to include such tables that have complex types?
Also, check out this scenario also..
    1. add a table through a database adapter
    2. drop the table in backend
    3. i can still see the table and its structure in the database adapter wizard even after restarting Jdeveloper.. How is it possible?
These are some really interesting scenarios to experiment. Please suggest your ideas on this..
    Thanks All!

    Hi Hem,
for a select you could select against a view. And for inserts you could create a stored procedure. They support complex types since 10.1.2. Complex types support in tables/views was added for 11 (next major release).
You might be able to use PureSQL as a workaround too, i.e.
    insert into XX_PORDER values (XX_CUST_INFO_TYP(?,?), XX_ITEM_TYP(?, ?, ?))
As for your other problem, in 10.1.2/10.1.3 the DBAdapter wizard sits on top of the Jdev Offline Tables and TopLink Mapping Workbench components. When you remove a table in the wizard it won't delete the Offline DB component. It was added by the wizard, but afterwards it is public to the entire Jdev project. You must remove it from Jdev yourself. This has been improved for the next major release too, no artifacts from underlying components are created.
    To remove it select:
Offline DB Objects -> <schema> -> <table> and try File.. Erase From Disk.
    Thanks

  • Database Adapter Advanced Polling Technique

I would like to create a polling database adapter on an SOA application. The data is statistical and changes frequently. I have developed the SQL in sqldeveloper to get the data (hard part done, or so I thought). I would like the adapter to poll the database with this query and fetch the results. I plan to use a sequential table to keep track of the fields at a separate database. Now, I understand I could turn the SQL script into a view and have the database adapter poll the view. However, my requirements are that the process be as unobtrusive to the database as possible. In other words: they do not want me to put that view on the database. So, my question is: has anyone created a database adapter polling mechanism that can execute a pure SQL select statement such as the one i have created. Of course, the SQL script is rather complex and it cannot be implemented using the TopLink commands on the database adapter wizard in jDeveloper. Does anyone know of a way i can do this? and if so, how? Thanks in advance.

Could you provide more insight on how you wired the adapter and BPEL process inside the composite? What does the BPEL look like? You could add a BPEL component that persists some stuff just for test purposes. That could give you more feedback from the console.

  • Database Adapter Configuration Wizard "File already exists" error

I'm uding JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 on an XP machine running Java 1.5.0_06 and having trouble editing SOAOrderBooking.bpel as part of the tutorial.
The tutorial calls for me to drag a new Database Adapter onto the diagram, select the "soademo_ssn" database and, on page 3 of the wizard select "Perform an operation on a table" and have only "Select" checked.
When I click "Perform an operation on a table", the 5 tickboxes enable and are checked but the mouse pointer remains as an hourglass. If I press "Next" without doing anything else, the Wizard title changes to "Select Table" but never draws its controls, aside from the "Back" etc buttons along the bottom and the decorative graphic to the left. If I do try unchecking boxes to have only "Select" selected, every check box state change generates the error "File already exists" and the path of the .mwp file whose name I specified earlier. The file does exist, but it didn't before I entered the wizard.
I've tried with three different filenames, and with two different database connections- both of which check out fine when I do "Test connection" in their property pages from the Connection Navigator.
If I delete the file after each check state change, I can stop the errors appearing after I untick each checkbox, but the wizard still hangs on pressing "Next" whether the file is there or not.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am facing the same issues.
I want to pick the new files and retain the files after polling.
Any idea on this would help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Database Adapter and SQL Server procedure issue

    Hello,
I am using Jdev 11.1.1.7.0 and SQL Server 2005.
In the Database Adapter configuration wizard, Specify Stored Procedure step, I choose the “GEACupax” schema and got the following error after a click on “Procedure Browse” button:
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Invalid object name 'GEACUPAX.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.SCHEMATA'.
The command Database Adapter tried to execute was:
    (from jdev log:) select schema_name from GEACUPAX.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.SCHEMATA order by schema_name;
Note, the schema name has changed to uppercase. I think that is the problem. If I try this query in SQLDeveloper, it returns the same error. I can fix it changing the schema name to “GEACupax”. The case matters.
    Any ideas?
    Leandro.

    Vijay,
    Thanks for you reply.
I figure out a related bug:
Bug 12859472: Cannot browse store procedure in case-sensitive MS SQL Database
    There are two possible workarounds:
    1. Use a database name with capital letters
    2. Do not use stored procedures, but access the tables directly.
The notes on the Bug ticket describes that the issue would be scheduled to be fixed in PS7 which is 11.1.1.8.
    Cheers!
    Leandro.

  • DataBase Adapter Issue

    Hi all,
When i try to query the table using the Database adapter , i m getting the following error message

    Hi-
Is the Database and Weblogic installed on same machine ??
When you execute queries from SQL worksheet this is the only program that is consuming memory..
But when you run from DB Adapter both your adapter and database consumes the memory and datbase is not able to get the required memory to run the script..
I am not quite sure of the issue, u can check the task manager and find it out when executing the program

  • Database Adapter Connection to EBusiness Suite Issue

I have a process that creates records in the EBusiness Suite using the BPEL Database Adapter. The adapter calls a single wrapper procedure that internally calls 4 TCA APIs one after the other. There appears to be an USERENV LANG issue during the final api that is called. The LANG needs to be US but the SQL Worksheet in JDeveloper BPEL Designer returns GB which I suspect is the value the adapter has when it connects to the eBusiness Suite.
How can the value of the LANG be set for the adapter ? My Environment variable for NLS_LANG is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1. My various Oracle homes are also set to this value.
I have also tried FND_GLOBAL.APPS_INITIALIZE procedure to effectively 'log on' to the EBS but this returns an error. The same wrapper package called directly from SQL*Plus works perfectly (where USERENV LANG is US). Solutions welcome !

The issue was resolved by adding the following to the start of the wrapper procedure:
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = ''AMERICAN''';

  • Issue in ESB Database Adapter

    hi
I have a requirement where the database adapter has to poll for a particular status like NOT STARTED in table and
based on the status change it should trigger a service asynchronously and then it should immediately update the
    status as STARTED.
The configuration steps done in the wizard:
Step 3 - Poll for New or Changed records in a Table
Step 7 - we selected the operation to perform after the data is read from the database, and Update the Field in the table
Step - 8 we Selected the Logical Field as table Column Status and
Read Value: STARTED and Unread Value : NOT STARTED
Database Rows per Transaction is Unlimited and also delay commit, Distributed Polling and Poll for child Updates are
    not selected.
The database adapter is not stable at some point of time, it is not updating the status from NOT STARTED to
STARTED after invoking the service asynchronously. Hence the whole process is repeating after some
time interval because of the status remaining as NOT STARTED.
    Thanks

  • JCA database adapter issue due to database schema dependency

    Hi,
I am using the JCA database adapter to call a stored procedure. The adapter uses the database schema name while calling the Stored procedure. The schema name is added in the namespace of XSD, wsdl files.
If I have to use a different database schema name, how can I update the existing code without much modification.

  • 11g Database Adapter issue

    Hi there,
I have a very simple BPEL process which just use Database Adapter to response result from one table, every thing works ok but a column with 'ROWID' datatype get a wrong data.
Which means when the data in table is 'AAAOOMAAPAAAgGVAAl', the BPEL output is 'QUFBT09NQUFQQUFBZ0dWQUFs', i try to modify the xxx-or-mapping.xml and xxx-properties.xml but still no luck.
    Any ideas?

    Hi AJ,
    Thanks for your reply.
In fact, i can't remove the ROWID type column. it is very important for business logic, the table is hosted on third party database, i have no right to do any change.
    below is the table struct:
    table PULL_STOCK_TRANSFER
    ISSUE_PLANT NOT NULL VARCHAR2(4)
    RCVNG_PLANT NOT NULL VARCHAR2(4)
    ISSUE_DATE NOT NULL DATE
    PART_CODE NOT NULL VARCHAR2(18)
    QUANTITY NOT NULL NUMBER(13,3)
    FLAG CHAR(1)
    PROCESSED CHAR(1)
    REMARKS VARCHAR2(200)
    TRACKING_ID ROWID
    ISSUE_LOCATION NOT NULL VARCHAR2(2)
    RCVNG_LOCATION NOT NULL VARCHAR2(2)
And there have no problem on 10g.
    So any ideas?

  • DB adapter wizard console disappears

    Hi,
I am facing this weird error. I configure a database adapter on my Jdeveloper. steps i follow is..
    1. Give name
    2. Select the connection
    3. slect Operatioion type ( Select operation)
    4. select tables, 5. Create a parent child relation 7. Input parameters and finish.
However once i close the project and re-open i am not able to go through all these steps from wizard again.
The console freezes after after the 3rd step i.e.after select operationstep..i don't see anyting on the console also the NEXT button is disabled. So everytime i have to change something..i have to re-create my partner link which is a pain.
Can someone tell me why this is happening, the JDev version I am using is 10.1.3.1.0.3984,
The database i am connecting to is a SQLServer.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Phani

    Hi solved the issue!
Open the .jpr file within the project folder and removed the non-used toplink locations from the elements <hash n="topLinkGenerateStatusReport"> , <hash n="topLinkMapsLocations"> and <hash n="topLinkQualifyTableNames">
After you have done the change and save the file, run the wizard again and it should work!
    Crazy hu?

  • Database Adapter: exposing multiple operations using one PartnerLink

    Hi,
I use the Database Adapter for accessing stored procedures in a package.
Using the wizard, I am able to specify a PartnerLink for one procedure in my package. However, the same package (my 'business service') contains multiple procedures I want to expose and call, preferably via the same PartnerLink.
    Is this possible?
If so, what is the best strategy, e.g. use the wizard multiple times and merge the resulting wsdl files?
    Thanks, Sjoerd

    How do you do that?
I specifically want to Poll a table, with the wizard it doesn't give you any options to edit the query, I suppose you go into the generated files and edit the query that way?
As it happens I have actually worked around my specific issue using XSLT functions, I was actaully trying to convert DB2 JD Edwards dates using this table lookup) but once I understood how the date format is stored it was simple enough to do in XSLT.
However I'm still interested to know how this is done as I may have another requirement that requires SQL joining to the same table twice.

  • Database adapter not returning all the records

I've taken over a BPEL from a developer who left the organization and have been having an issue during our User Acceptance Testing. We are querying a table that will return the insurance enrollment information for employee's and their dependants. When an employee change plans, or adds people, the old plan is terminated and a new once is created. When this happens there will be two records on the database to show the old plan and the new plan.
When we run the SQL thru JDEV or SQLDeveloper, the data comes out fine. When we run it through a BPEL Database Adapter we are only getting one of the rows returned.
I have created a small tester BPEL that is easily modified and deployed to run the same query to try multiple configurations changes within the DBAdapter. What I have found is all the records are returned when the "Return single result set" box on the DBAdapter Wizard is unchecked. When it's checked then it only returns one record for the employees with an old and a new plan.
Can someone explain what the "Return single result set" option does, and what the impact will be if it's unchecked?
